  • Control Strategies vs Deathrattle Demon Hunter

    Quote From Erodos

Play control shaman, run Perpetual Flame and laugh as you clear their entire board and half their hand for 1 mana (Overload isn't real).

Haha, I've been on the receiving end of a few full-board clears from Perpetual Flame and can vouch for how salty that can make an opponent feel!  I think I might need to experience this satisfaction against DR DH myself; is there a list you've been having fun with or would recommend?

  • Control Strategies vs Deathrattle Demon Hunter

    Quote From dapperdog

If you're playing control, and aren't priest, then sadly there's very little you can do but hope they don't get their curve for Skull of Gul'dan, [Hearthstone Card (deathspeaker blackthorn) Not Found], and Illidari Inquisitor. After that, pray that they don't discover Felosophy or are playing the late game deathrattle deck. Basically, you're playing a very bad matchup is what I'm trying to say.

On the question of whether to crack the boars or to leave them be, that will depend very much on the number of cards your opponent has in hand, but in most cases its better to simply kill the boar because nearly all outcomes will result in you taking 3 damage anyway. But if you're playing for tempo its pretty much a guessing game, very much dependent on your handreading skills.

Thanks for your analysis dapperdog!  I agree that it's an unfavored match-up and you're right that it can become unwinnable if they curve out well so it may not be worth over-analyzing.

As for the boars, you're spot on in saying that there are many factors that play into that decision so there probably isn't a one-size-fits-all strategy.  My general approach has been to treat them like Secrets, only playing into them if I have an answer ready for the minion summoned, but I should give the killing off immediately strategy a go more often and see how it works out.  The situation I find myself in most frequently is:

    • Turn 1 Tuskpiercer
    • Turn 2 Razorboar
    • And then my choice is between spending a spell to clear the boar or trying to develop something like Wandmaker if it's my Turn 2 or Mankrik if it's my Turn 3

So if they go first they'll have 3 cards in hand and if they go 2nd they'll have 4 cards, but in both cases they'll have an extra DR card drawn from Tuskpiercer.

If they don't get Tuskpiercer in the mulligan, it's often Hero Power on Turn 1 so they'd have 4 or 5 cards in hand after T2 depending on if they went 1st or 2nd.  In this case I don't know for sure that they have a DR in hand, but the odds seem likely given the kept rate of Razorfen Beastmaster and Sneaky Delinquent.

But you're right that whether I pop or not I'm almost always looking at a 3-damage threat so the only really bad outcome is when Beastmaster gets summoned as that can let them cheat out even more mana on their next turn.  On the flip side, waiting allows them to play their 2/3-mana DR minion of choice from hand and then target something else with the boar's DR.

Thanks again for your analysis; it's been great food-for-thought!

  • Blizzard Has Heard the Community - Hearthstone's Nozdormu Day Will Be Added in-Game

great - i played a few games yesterday and one month ago with him in the deck, but nothing happened ... so I withdrew

  • Blizzard Has Heard the Community - Hearthstone's Nozdormu Day Will Be Added in-Game

Yeah I liked the idea about earning 2x XP with Noz in your deck. Because if it's only a one-time reward, then people will just knock it out and move on like the Tavern Brawl. But the XP bonus would keep people playing it for the day, and makes it easier for others to have a successful queue and experience the glory and splendor of Nozdormu the Eternal.

  • Blizzard Has Heard the Community - Hearthstone's Nozdormu Day Will Be Added in-Game

    Hooray!

I think a quest to play 3 games with him in your deck is the most likely. I expect it would disappear on the 16th, so they probably wouldn't want to do anything that requires much effort. So something that can be done trivially alongside a daily quest makes a lot of sense. I guess they could have an XP modifier span the whole day for players with Noz in their decks, though that's likely to mean more effort for the devs and would incentivise playing lots, so I doubt it.

Whatever they do, you can be sure there will be people who don't see it as a complete freebie that no-one is forced into and will complain about it :P

  • Another Patch Another Missed Opportunity

Not going to downvote but this quote is literally the first thing you get out of your own link:

Patch 2.10.0 is our final minor update before the debut of the Rise of the Underworlds expansion in patch 2.11.0, releasing on June 30, as well as a large batch of card updates for both champion and non-champion cards!

I think waiting for the next set to kick in before making any hasty decisions that could backfire is the correct move now

  • Blizzard Has Heard the Community - Hearthstone's Nozdormu Day Will Be Added in-Game

Great news. I love the idea (even organised a Nozdormu tournament!) but I can't be bothered to keep track of the calendar after a long day at work. Happy to see they're embracing the community enthousiasm about Noz.

Keep going, you can do this! I've played some Demon Hunter myself this month with Deathrattle strong in Standard and even made it to legend in Wild with Odd. I'm at 260 now, so I'll probably need another 3 years for that super nice 1.000 wins portrait lol

Feedback time, sorry for being a bit late this week. Thanks for your thoughts on my cards!

    Demonxz95
Volvano Caller is solid work, but not very exciting. Agor is super cool! One super small thing to consider is that the initial card depicts an guy with two heads, but you can get three different outcomes. Any chance you happen to have one lying around with three heads?

    BasilAnguis
Very nice idea, it's been some time since Thief Priest got some love. Not sure about the Echo part, though. That keyword is tied to The Witchwood when spell schools had not been a thing yet. Why not go with a good old cost reduction? I'd say go all in and make them cost 1!

    Neoguli
Solid idea, but I don't think it counts. The subtext of the prompt says "We're looking for a specific school here". Better check with Shadows!

    Elfensilver
Choosing a Dragon to design your card around is a cool idea, but I see several problems. First of all, you should use another watermark. Then the art isn't very good, it looks like a screenshot from WoW. Finally, I'd choose another effect. Dealing damage randomly split isn't a Druid thing.

    R
I can only echo the other's feedback: Combat Dominie is a super cool card and a potential winner in my eyes (you can never know with these crazy finalist's vote results these days though). Nothing more to say.

    linkblade91
"Double your Armor" always sounds scary to me, but this time the restriction is big enough to work out I guess. You also made it even-costed so Odd Warrior shenanigans aren't a problem either. Solid card!

    Lundy
I was a bit disappointed when I saw you've used the same art as me to be honest, but I do like your card. No big fan of Start of Game effects, but it's a cool idea and the pun in the name is great. Rated 4 stars for now, might give it a raise to 5 when I've seen all the others on Sunday.

    Wailor
Haha, I guess we've both gone with the coolest archetypes around :) I much prefer Shai, since Silvermoon Icecaller is just too close to [Hearthstone Card (Warden Dawngrasp) Not Found] and I think Blizzard made them a Legendary on purpose to keep the potential number of Frost Novas low. Nice one!

  • Stealer of Souls Gets Banned! Patch 20.4.2 Update Notes Including Battlegrounds Balance and Bugfixes

The stealer ban I think is mostly ridiculous. They just dont want to make the card unplayable right after it came out so people will spend money on the set without worrying about it. Watch. When it rotates it will be made either UNPLAYABLE or swapped out with a different card for warlock that is either garbage or plain boring and not worth playing at all(see icicle)

Whenever I played against this deck the combo kicked in on turns 6 or 7, which in wild you're already dead to aggro by then in most cases even in casual mode since people play secret mage in every format. Not to mention flamewaker mage, demon hunter face hunter or any other deck that will kill you on turn 4 or 5.

This is just another example of a ridiculous high roll that in an aggro deck they would let stay in the format and do nothing to hinder it. But since it's a combo deck th ey must get rid of it as soon as possible.

  • Golden Hero Portrait - Completionist & Grind

I just reached the 500 wins halfway outpost with Demon Hunter and Illidan Stormrage is finally golden now. Continueing at maximum warp speed towards the final frontier and get myself that sweet Demonic Illidan hero portrait after many more stardates still to come.

    "I am not prepared!" 😂

  • Stealer of Souls Gets Banned! Patch 20.4.2 Update Notes Including Battlegrounds Balance and Bugfixes

Try to actually read the words between "we've decided to ban the card in" and "standard", I guess?

  • Stealer of Souls Gets Banned! Patch 20.4.2 Update Notes Including Battlegrounds Balance and Bugfixes

    "maintain its current...function in standard"

maintain: to continue to have; to keep in existence, or not allow to become less

    https://dictionary.cambridge.org/de/worterbuch/englisch/maintain

  • Stealer of Souls Gets Banned! Patch 20.4.2 Update Notes Including Battlegrounds Balance and Bugfixes

Shall I quote it once more? Sure, why not.

'After deliberating on the appropriate action, we’ve decided to ban the card in order to maintain its current, and healthier, function in standard"

EDIT. Don't blame my perfect english just because they did stated it.

  • Stealer of Souls Gets Banned! Patch 20.4.2 Update Notes Including Battlegrounds Balance and Bugfixes

is that the mini-set was announced just days before it was released, and it takes something like 4 weeks of completing 13,000 xp of quests per week to earn 2000 gold

Technically speaking they announced the mini-set in february as part of the roadmap, or even earlier as part of the Darkmoon faire expansion where they said that every future expansion will get a mini-set. That's like saying that you only have 1 month to save gold for the next (normal) expansion, because they don't release the trailer sooner.

  • Stealer of Souls Gets Banned! Patch 20.4.2 Update Notes Including Battlegrounds Balance and Bugfixes

Flat tusk was the best shard generator in the game and coupled with an Aggem Thorncurse it was the best scaling engine in battlegrounds.  Throw in the boar for double shard effect and the tier 3 minion that lets you transfer shards to another minion and you can get triple digit cleave minions rather early if you hit an early triple and pull flat tusk.

The reason Flat tusk was better than Charlgra is that you could stack 5 shards on one minion each turn rather than have them spread out across your board.  This nerf theoretically will lower the number of shards gained by buying and selling the maximum amount of minions each turn.

  • Group Therapy! Need to blow off some steam? Mega salty? Here's the place!

RNG is so fun. Lets just play wandmaker and get a random Unstable Evolution into an 8/8 with taunt. Nice.

  • Stealer of Souls Gets Banned! Patch 20.4.2 Update Notes Including Battlegrounds Balance and Bugfixes

Your reading comprehension blows. Nowhere do they say they're banning it in Standard.

  • [Game] Card Treasure Hunt (The Resurrection Attempt)

Nope. Or I might add, not even.

  • A Playable Hearthstone Deckbuilder : Aletta's Kitchen

I played this already, can confirm it's pretty damn good.

  • Stealer of Souls Gets Banned! Patch 20.4.2 Update Notes Including Battlegrounds Balance and Bugfixes

To be fair - the mini-set was announced in February, not "just days before it was released," so folks have had four months to save their gold.

I won most games with Tamsin, 1 mana Overgrowth, 0 mana WIld Growth, Celestial Alignment played in 3rd turn. It's uber ramp druid most of the time which fits to his mana expensive decks.

Rokara need target and most Gulfs minions are 5+ so her HP is completely useless. Brukans 2 dmg isn't bad, but +2 spell power is hard to use, because Gulf have only Swipe and Starfall as removals. Varden gives u 1/1 elemental which kills nothing and in most cases it's tempo loss.

  • Stealer of Souls Gets Banned! Patch 20.4.2 Update Notes Including Battlegrounds Balance and Bugfixes

"After deliberating on the appropriate action, we’ve decided to ban the card in order to maintain its current, and healthier, function in standard"

So, does this mean they will ban the card on Standard too? I understand if they banned it in Wild mode, because there are too many card interactions, but why Standard?

What's the point on printing new cards in the future if they can't even at least test the interactions between new cards? Just print anything and improvise later? And why can't they just change the coding like people suggested so it reduce the health directly instead of taking damage? Not enough time? Not enough people?
