  • All Forged in the Barrens Mini-Set "Wailing Caverns" Card Reveals for June 2

What do we know about the Dream cards Archdruid Naralex gives? Are these the same as Ysera’s cards?

Lackeys could generate a bunch of random cards, which could both be equally powerful, fun and annoying.

These are a lot simper and straight forward to deal with. What you see is what you get.

Lorewise, dormant is very fitting for Naralex. However, I thought this keyword was tied to Year of the Phoenix?

So dormant for 2 turns is evergreen now?

  • All Forged in the Barrens Mini-Set "Wailing Caverns" Card Reveals for June 2

Eh, I don't think it's nearly as prevalent or as strong as lackey's  Lackeys all had useful battlecries (some super strong like draconic or ethereal).  These have slightly better stats (2/2 instead of 1/1) but the power of the lackey was their targeted battlecries, or their discover effects.  Adventurers appear to be a purely random scenario, in which case I think the powerlevel is much less than a lackey provides.

Edit: Also just noticed there's no Druid or Priest adventurer representation.  Wonder why.  I guess they ran out of core mechanics, but still...

Weren't the lackeys initally 2 mana 2/2 during early development? Would be cool of some of these designs came from there.

Phew, glad we finally escaped the grasp of Lackeys! [immediately introduces a similar concept]

  • Diamond Cards We'd Love to See From Hearthstone's Year of the Mammoth

yeah any card that generates cards can't get the diamond treatment for the reason you mentioned

  • Diamond Cards We'd Love to See From Hearthstone's Year of the Mammoth

I think for Elise's case, opening a pack of Golden cards still fits the flavor for a Diamond as packs can't contain Diamond cards at all, and that's her very unique perspective. It does mean that her pack itself needs to be Diamond though, so it gets to look extra flashy just like her.

Frostmourne is particularly annoying though since the only realistic thing to do there is to make it a rule that Diamond cards don't get Diamond tokens, which I'm not against. It would open up the space of potential Diamond cards even more, and I'm secretly hoping that once they play catch-up with the old cards, they'll go back for round 2 and find other ways of letting us acquire them - maybe gameplay achieves for old expansions instead of simple collection ones?

I love Diamond cards so much. I'm really hoping they roll them out quickly and they continue on this beautiful cosmetic journey Hearthstone finally started.

  • Diamond Cards We'd Love to See From Hearthstone's Year of the Mammoth

So, I like the suggestions and thoughts.  But I doubt cards like Elise will get the Diamond treatment.  When golden cards generate other cards they are also golden!  So Elise would make a diamond pack, which when opened should generate 5 diamond cards.  This would mean they would need to have a diamond version of ALL Un’goro cards.  And some of those might be able to generate cards outside of their set, so now you’ve got a whole mess!  The only real solution would be to have her shuffle a golden Un’goro pack.  As in it could be a diamond card, but the pack it opens is a golden pack.

Lich King on the other hand could be a real possibility.  Yes he generates cards, but it’s a small controlled group of cards that don’t generate anything outside of that group.  The biggest issue is the minions resummoned by Frostmourne.??I guess resummon them as golden minions unless they have a diamond version?

  • Is overload a good keyword?

I agree with others that Overload isn't the problem in and of itself. The problem is Overload within the Shaman class, whose true issue lies in its class identity. Overload right now can be useful in 2 ways:

    • Early game snowballing. The problem is, if your opponent still manages to clear your early board, you have overloaded for nothing and you're screwed
    • Combo/Burst damage. Except shaman isn't a combo class since it doesn't have good tutor/card draw. The direct damage Shaman can leverage, especially since the loss of Bloodlust and Lava Burst, isn't lethal enough. Also Blizzard understandably doesn't want to push this mechanic too much.

Paladin and Shaman are the worst designed classes of Hearthstone*. If you look at HS history, those two classes are most often found at the extreme of a meta. Either completely OP or unplayable, but rarely just balanced. Right now, Paladin is on top and Shaman sucks, however back in MSoG in 2016 it was the other way around. The core set revamp could have fixed both classes, but it didn't. That's because the problem lies in the two classes fundamental mechanics.

Focusing on Shaman specifically to stay on topic, its main issue is its reliance on snowballing and permanent board control to win. If shaman loses board control, it loses. It has no comeback mechanics.

Its second main issue is the weakness of totems, which is linked to the first one because totems have powerful ongoing effects but do nothing on their own. Basic totems in particular are an issue. Not only is shaman HP badly designed from a new player POV ("what's a basic totem? Why are all other hero powers explicit but this one isn't? Why are the totems so complex?") but its fundamental randomness makes it useless. I'm in favor of changing it so you can choose which totem you summon (and making the upgraded version summon 2 totems). I'm also in favor of simplifying by removing one totem, preferably one of the two "complicated" ones (Healing Totem or [Hearthstone Card (Strength of Earth Totem) Not Found]).

Apart from that, well, I don't know what devs can do to make the shaman class more viable and stable. Perhaps the new spell schools will bring something to the table? Shaman has synergies with 3 spells schools (fire, frost, nature) so perhaps there is something there.

    * Also Warlock, however Guldan's issues are of a different nature so I won't focus on them here.

I run control in all classes even if it's bad haha, so I'm kinda happy, well more than happy I'm intrigued.

  • New Druid Minion - Deviate Dreadfang

I think this is weak, at 8 mana the impact is low and even if you play 2 nature spells at that point the 4/2 should be able to be removed.
Maybe good against an aggro or midrange deck, but if you got to that point there are other options to win the game.

  • New Druid Minion - Fangbound Druid

I can see it in a cheap midrange druid, great on curve.
