  • Journey to Un'Goro's Junior Explorers Have All Grown Up! Some Story of The Mercenaries Confirmed by Blizzard

Wasn't the tauren given a name other than guff runetotem though? Iirc they were the one writing the un'goro lore teasers

Edit: The name I was thinking of was Eddie Malone, can't see if they were confirmed to be the tauren so maybe I just made that assumption at some point?

  • New Warlock Spell - Altar of Fire

This is on the line between "Oh no, this is too good!" and "Oh no, I unpacked this."

I feel it's more of the latter.

  • New Priest Minion - Serena Bloodfeather

I think this will take some playing around with to figure out the best use. Like others have said, it isn't really removal, just a debuff that gives you a stat advantage. The enemy minion gets halved and this card essentially becomes that new stats with +1/+1. It doesn't help much against cards with an effect. It won't ever really kill anything with the battlecry either. I don't know, it seems 'meh'.

  • YiLingShu Reveals a New Forged in the Barrens Legendary Warlock Card - Neeru Fireblade

Fine card as a last resort in Control games but i don't think this is worth building around. Warlock already inflicts too much damage on themselves through Hero Power and there aren't enough reliable sources of healing available to make you last long enough to kill your opponent with Imps. You will probably be out of healing cards by the time you hit fatigue anyway. Your Control opponent will just hold back on their removals to stall you to death and Aggro/Midrange opponents will kill you even faster. Envoy Rustwix could help but i don't really have faith in this kind of strategy.

  • New Rogue Minion - Apothecary Helbrim

    So many wonderful reprints.

    What happened to Guff's glasses?

I think people are overrating this just like they did with Glide. It is basically a 1 mana (and card slot) "Do nothing" when you play it. It doesn't even give you an fatique advantage. I can only really see this card as an anti-combo tech and even then it's questionable.

It occasionally burns a key card, but it's just as likely to burn garbage cards and get your opponent closer to their good cards, so that's a net neutral unless it's a combo deck that can be instantly ruined by a burn. Other than that, you're paying 1 card and 1 mana to get 3 steps closer to small-deck synergy - and if that's your aim, just play Backfire instead.

  • New Priest Minion - Serena Bloodfeather

    Quote From PetiteMouche

Trash card, dead in your hand until the opponent plays a big minion which you can just immediately remove with Shadow Word: Death, and as a battlecry minion it doesn't have synergy with anything in priest toolkit.

This card is a half Subdue and a half Argent Braggart. Absolute garbage, does everything, good at nothing.

It's worse than Subdue, worse than any tempo 2 drop playable on curve, worse than The Nameless One, worse than Scarlet Subjugator, worse than Penance, worse than Mindflayer Kaahrj, I can't think of any card with a similar role that is worse than Serena.

These comparisons are mostly bad. Subdue is a Paladin card, so it doesn't really have any bearing on whether this card is good for Priest. Scarlet Subjugator and Penance are decent comparisons for playing Serena early, but they're both rotating. Mindflayer Kaahrj is an okay comparison for playing Serena in the midgame, but she's also rotating. The Nameless One is just a bad comparison because they do very different things.

And even if those comparisons were good, Priest has lots of room with all those rotations to get a card that is worse than those other cards and still playable in the context of the standard metagame. That's particularly true for any card that manipulates minion stats, since Priest has a long history of stat manipulation synergies. It's hard to see this as immediately synergizing with those cards (e.g. Shadow Word: Death doesn't want you to shrink the enemy, Cabal Acolyte pairs far more naturally with Wave of Apathy), but there are still several Priest cards we haven't seen which might make use of this kind of manipulation.

And even if they don't, the lack of Shadow Word: Pain and Penance make room for this even if it's only meh overall because of that weaker early game state. It has the flip side of being better than all of those control-oriented 2-drops in the late game, and that's not nothing.

  • New Paladin Weapon - Sword of the Fallen

    Solid card

  • Thijs Reveals a New Forged in the Barrens Warlock Card - Altar of Fire

There isn't enough aggro decks on the ladder, I think this will be good to incentivise people to play aggro for a change...

    /s

I mean seriously, what is going on with this game? Yes a few of the cards from the new expansion look ok but mostly I feel like Blizzard trawled the forums for players views and came up with a list of the most soul destroying, frustrating to play against ways to make a card and then shot them at this expansion with a blunderbuss!

  • New Warlock Spell - Altar of Fire

I don't know if it will be good, but I already hate it. I'm one of those players that gets the feels bad from any kind of card removal by my opponent. I've always hesitated to play the original tracking because I focus too much on what I lose instead of what I draw, I hate Tickatus, the Warlock Gnome bugs me. This will just be further triggers. Hopefully the no deck Warlock doesn't become a thing.

  • New Paladin Weapon - Sword of the Fallen

Really good card, we dont want to play our secret or draw it, playing them by other tools is a really good thing for paladin secret archetype it will greatly help

  • Thijs Reveals a New Forged in the Barrens Warlock Card - Altar of Fire

This type of card only creates bad situations. It's a very arbitrary type of disruption. Hearthstone doesn't allow any counterplay for this kind of card unlike LoR. The only thing you can do is watch your opponent burn your cards and hope that they screw themselves in the process. However, they do have a synergy or win condition for an empty deck and you don't. This card is probably bad in a similar fashion to Void Contract (probably even more because combo decks are losing too much in the rotation) but it will never feel good to play against just like Tickatus.

  • Journey to Un'Goro's Junior Explorers Have All Grown Up! Some Story of The Mercenaries Confirmed by Blizzard

Okay now that really begs the question what the fuck the actual Hearthstone timeline is

  • New Paladin Weapon - Sword of the Fallen

pretty good for the new minion

  • New Priest Minion - Serena Bloodfeather

I wonder how this will work with temporary debuffs such as Wave of Apathy or Lazul's Scheme. My guess is that it will not be interesting...

Is the girl on the right Aranna? Still remains the question

  • New Paladin Weapon - Sword of the Fallen

This looks like good support for a Secret Paladin archetype, I just don't know if this is what the legendary needs to be a strong play. Most times when a secret comes into play your opponent does what they can to trigger it in the most advantageous way possible. I don't see many Paladin secrets that will last more than a turn or two. You'll need a secret or two in hand, plus a few in your deck, at the same time that you draw this weapon and have Smythe in hand to play. I just think it will be a tough thing to set up in a meaningful way.

  • New Warlock Spell - Altar of Fire

And here I was thinking I would give standard a go again.  Oh well I guess I'll just stay in wild.  This almost ensures I will not preorder. Is it just me or does it seems like the designers are now incapable of designing a balanced control meta.  I'm starting to think they are putting degenerate cards like Tickatus and this new abomination to ensure aggro reigns supreme and they don't have to worry about anything past turn 6 or 7.

On the plus side, this does give me hope that we might finally see some tech cards that revive burned, milled, or destroyed cards in the card dump later today.  I would like to see a neutral legendary that puts these cards back into your hand.  I would also like to see an epic or rare that would shuffle them back into your deck.

YOOOO this is amazing! This is how you develop a narrative, well played, Team 5!

  • New Priest Minion - Serena Bloodfeather

    Quote From JoeyJojo48

Pretty cool card. Excellent if you hit a 2-attack minion (since they will go to 0-attack), but if you use it on something massive like an 8/8 I think you'd rather just remove it with Shadow Word: Death instead.

This is definitely wrong - if you play this on a 2-attack minion, Serena will only steal 1 attack from that enemy (she'll then have 2 attack, and it will have 1 meeting the criteria of "having more" attack).

  • Journey to Un'Goro's Junior Explorers Have All Grown Up! Some Story of The Mercenaries Confirmed by Blizzard

    This is pretty cool actually.

  • New Warlock Spell - Altar of Fire

I doubt it will be used to discard your own deck but rather to mess with your opponents deck. A hard counter to combo decks, nothing more.

  • New Paladin Weapon - Sword of the Fallen

This is the exact kind of support Smythe needed to be good. The quality of Paladin Secrets is one thing, but getting them into play us something that they struggle with the most. Cards like this that thin your deck while also support its inherent synergy can be very powerful, although its still early so say whether or not this will be strong enough. Nasty Turn 1 Coin + Sword of the Fallen into turn 2 Sunreaver Spy though.

Missed chance for an easter egg. They should've made the sword look like the one seen in George and Karl Dungeon Run boss since the former later became George The Fallen.
