Definitely seems like a contender for N'zoth style decks but the front half is the one you want back. The taunt side isn't aweful but still clutters the rez pool a bit.
What beast are you playing that you would rather see resurrected than a 6/7 taunt? Usually I'm already content to get Circus Amalgam back.
I know the guardian is going out soon. Like I said a 6/7 taunt isn't bad but I tend to prefer rush for immediate action or reborn for sticking around if I can get it.
It's always awesome to see that there's an actual story behind artwork, whether it be in game or in real life. It shows that there's at least someone who puts care and thought into it.
I suspect it is simultaneously a hint at her proficiency with many poisons, and a hint at her accessing cards from other classes (light green = hunter, light blue = mage etc).
Yes, and if you look at the two Vol'jin cards, which one looks like Vol'jin, and which one looks like Zappy Boi w/o his mask? You actually dealt with him in the Corrupted Visions in Wow, and Zappy Boi didn't have his mask on, and except for the slightly darker blue skin on the new Vol'jin (which btw is not Vol'jin's skin tone) looks like Zekhan. (the name Blizzard gave him after he became a big internet meme sensation.) I guess what I'm trying to say here is, The new Vol'jin looks nothing like him, and looks more like some random throwaway NPC, that only gained a real name after being enshrined in Meme history.
By the looks of it she's been wearing that tabard in WoW for ages, so I'm not sure the connection to the Black Flame is a HS Easter Egg as much as implicit canon.
Then again, this is the character who walks around with 2 Perdition's Blades like its nothing. So I'm not entirely sure how seriously we should be taking her WoW model...
What is the significance to the colored coating on her daggers? Green = poison, Blue = freeze/immune(?), Purple = Lifesteal? Or something completely different?:)
Didn't expect Zilean of all champs to appear now. He isn't even in the Shurima page on the universe site. Each region will have 7 champs with this new expansion cycle. Shurima will 100% have Azir, Xerath, Renekton and Nasus. Sivir is also too important to not appear, Skarner will get released later along a P&Z champ for that hextech crystal drama i think. Rammus and Ammumu seem not important enough to appear now in my opinion. Talyiah is a 50/50.
Ign published an interview with some informations about the new gamemode that OOC hasn't covered yet. So I thought I'd give you a short summary of all the new information:
-Mercenaries has its own 15 person dev team that is actively working on the mode for over 11 months. The dev team also includes Paul Nygen who pitched the idea of the Dungeon Run mode.
-Mercenaries was originially planned as an 2v2 mode, but they then settled on the rogue-lite (I know the devs are calling it a rogue-like, but a rogue-like with permanent progression is per definition a rogue-lite) and rpg mechanics
- they refear to the runs as "levels" (they also did that other times they talked about it)
- equipment can come from "drops in levels" or from other sources
- the max level could be level 30 ("level 1 to, say, 30")
- the endgame is about enhancing your characters and equipment
- There will be an heroic option
- some abilities will be better against certain bosses
- a lot of endgame gameplay will be about figuering out how to counter a certain boss
- Jaina and the Lich King will be bosses
- You can see what the enemy will do in the pve parts. That's not the case for pvp
- As a result the pve part will be more about puzzles, and the pvp about bluffing and playing mind games (probably not the card Mindgames )
- they announced the mode at Blizzconline to show everyone that Hearthstone is doing more than just releasing expansions.
Bonus from an GamesPredetor Interview I stumbled across:
-The mode will have no mana system and the abilites are cooldown based instead
- example abilities could be a simple attack or a Dragon breath that either deals damage, or heals an ally.
- they think that the mode will be really deep
- fights will reward you with xp and "resources"
All of this sounds super exciting and I can't wait to learn out more.
A divination like mechanic? This is my kind of thing.
Also these cards are related to time travel, the only time traveling champions are Ekko and Zilean, the former is from Zaum, and might be our next P&Z champion, the latter is from Icathia a country that was conquered by Shurima in the past, so I guess he's going to be our next Shuriman champion.
I love this kind of posts and this one is pretty well constructed, well done!
I think that you are right with almost everything; as you said before, I think the 10 mercenaries will be released in this expansion.
I will focus on the Priest mercenary because I love to play Priest. I'm fine with a Draenei being the mercenary for Priest because it's a wonderful race and I've always loved how Draneis look. The only problem that I have here is that the devs said that they wanted to give Priest the Shadow archetype in the core set and in this expansion and the future ones.
I don't understand too much about Wow, but judging every Draenei card released in HS, I think that they are more Holy-related than Shadow-related, so the Priest mercenary would be a Holy Draenei, and it makes me a little bit sad because I want them to focus on the Shadow archetype they said they would implement in Priest and I think that a legendary for this archetype would be needed.
Do you think that there is a possibility of a Shadow-related Draenei Priest legendary? Or do you think that if Dranei is the mercenary race chosen for Priest, he/she will be 100% related to Holy?
There have been some shadow draenei in the past, most notably Auchenai Soulpriest, which holds the honour of having 2 cards that reference it in Auchenai Phantasm and Embrace the Shadow. So there is precedent for a shadow draenai character.
Since the mercenaries look to effectively be player characters in WoW, a shadow priest specialisation is perfectly possible since there's nothing stopping a player playing as a draenai shadow priest (I'm pretty sure).
I would also say that we have 2 legendaries per class for precisely this sort of reason. It allows them to print flashy cards supporting two very different archetypes. So even if the mercenary is holy, that doesn't stop the second legendary being shadow focused.
Shurima has always been my favourite region from LoL, so this set is very exciting for me. Judging from what we've seen we already know we're getting Renekton, Azir, and Nasus as champions, but I'm interested to see who else we get. I'd love to see Amumu, Skarner, and Xerath as well.
That's Coilfang Warlord with a condition, DH already has this OP card but plays aggro. Being a druid card make it more consistent, especially a beast who can be summoned by Guardian Animals or copied with Shan'do Wildclaw. I bet this year druid will receive a lot of beast synergy since they already announced Menagerie Warden would be in the classic set for the year of the griffin.
This can't be summoned by Guardian Animals, which only summons beasts that cost 5 or less.
Oops ! But still I think druid will have a lot of beast synergy this year

the new game mode in the year of the phoenix was the Duels
and the new new game mode is the Mercenaries
I don't think they count HS Classic as a new game mode, as that's just a Format for constructed mode

I remember, that they said, that this isn't the gamemode for the 3rd part of this year... ^^ But maybe i missunderstood sth.
Predictions for days
So we have a new keyword to examine that is going to be very hard to evaluate properly.
How exactly do countdown and prediction interact with one another.
If I had to guess predict is likely very similar to scry from mtg you get to peak your top card and see if it goes on top or the bottom
So the objective is to buff random allies then dig for them
As for the countdown landmarks I think they are solid you get the effect on your next attack turn effectively, and every next attack turn after.
So cycling on turn 2, draw on 4, draw on 6, draw on 8
That's really strong and I think main deck landmark removal may be essential now and that's great
------------------------------------------Edit-----------------------------------------
They said on twitter that countdown cards destroy themselves so you only get the 1 2/2 or the 1 draw. That's not great
---------------------------------------Edit 2--------------------------------------------
so predict is look at top 3 put 1 on top
If this was mtg this would be a hugely powerful play effect in standard.
However in Runeterra digging for answers isn't common because board clears are over costed and situational.
