I'm ready to open my Emerald Dream packs and get like the worst legendaries ever printed. Duskfallen Aviana is gonna jump through time and into my packs.
Just a heads up with the Community days Twitch drop rewards. Seems like there's issues with the Year of the Pegasus packs they mentioned so everyone should be getting 5 Great Dark Beyond and 5 Emerald Dream
Hey! I saw this a while ago, but I didn't find a good moment to give you feedback. Here it goes :)
I want to start by saying that I really enjoyed the expansion and I think it's very well done. The theme has some overlap with Rastakhan's Rumble, but the vibe you gave it is quite different, IMO. Regarding the mechanics, I like Bloodthirst a lot, it's a very natural evolution of stuff like Spellburst that still feels novel and interesting. Not so sure about Overpower, as it's the type of keyword that can be either OP or useless with not much ground in between, although I like how it synergizes with Bloodthirst.
I also wanted to ask how do the Black Market cards work. Does "card type" refer to categories like minion, spell or weapon; or Murloc, Beast, Frost, Holy...?
Death Knight
I like the handbuff package and the different directions Blood and Frost push them into.
I really enjoy Team Builder, such an unsassuming card that goes so well with the package.
I like the Reborn hero, especially how the repeat Battlecry can give you some extra steam. Might push her to 6 Mana, though.
First Champion seems a bit dangerous with Overpower. Might nerf it to 4 Attack, IDK.
Does Stitches simply add the minion to your hand? I think it's balanced if that's the case, although I don't find it very exciting.
Demon Hunter
Really enjoy the bodybuilding flavor. The Taunt package is nice.
Weightlifting is very cool and flavorful, although a bit disconnected from the set. Wouldn't change it, though.
I'm also worried about Champion Bodybuilder. The pontential to deal 10+ damage to token decks is very scary, although being 9 Mana kinda makes it alright I suppose.
If BM cards refer to "card type" as in weapon, minion, etc. Black Market Substances seems OP, as it's basically a 4 Mana draw 5 with an upside.
Both legendaries are very interesting.
I miss something to interact with the 1/1 Taunt tokens other than Bolderon. All the Taunt synergies besides it interact with Taunt minions you can put into your deck.
Druid
I like the return of "5 or more Attack" Druid. I appreciate how it's related to dinosaurs.
I might change Ring Announcer to compare Attack instead of Cost.
Really like Fighting Spirit :)
Hunter
Not sure if Johnny Awesome is a bit dangerous with cards outside the set.
Really enjoy the 2 Epics.
Mage
Not sure if you gave Mage too much direct damage spells. I guess it depends on which cards are on Standard, as I don't think they'd break Wild or anything.
In the same regard, I'm not so sure about Pyromancer's Apprentice. As far as I know, they nerfed Sorcerer's Apprentice to oblivion mostly because of Antonidas, and this works just as well with him.
I also feel Heat of Battle is a bit to strong? Either that or the card Mycropian Arcanist from my set is very weak haha
Really like Finishing Move, Surprise Entrance and Ring of Inferno. Very creative!
Paladin
Buffing both minions and weapons is a cool idea. Fits both Pally and the theme of the set very well!
Really enjoy Dueling Arena.
Maybe I'd make Hammer Instructor a 4/4? His effect seems a bit weak compared to the other instructors, so I'd give him better stats.
Priest
Really like your takes on resurrect. They push the mechanic in interesting directions.
Wayward of Rejuvenation is also very cool.
Malingering seems weak compared to Hunter's Mark and similar stuff. I know the advantage is the Lifesteal, but I'd stillpush its damage to 6 or something like that.
Public Outrage seems frustrating to play against. Not sure how I'd remedy that, but I might make it 2 Mana for good mesure lol
Rogue
Very cool and flavorful take on Coin Rogue.
Can Underground Gambling target cards that already cost 0? I guess not?
Coinage Cyclone might be more interesting with Rush. Not sure if stats or cost should be adjusted in that case.
The Fleetship feels dangerous, but Bounce Around exists, so IDK.
Might change Captain Blackmange so that you still keep your HP and the cannon has a pseudo-Inspire effect that deals damage to a random enemy. After all, Pirates tend to synergize with weapons, so getting rid of the HP in a Pirate deck is a bit counter-intuitive.
Shaman
At this point feels like a formality, but I like the Spell Menagerie archetype and its execution.
Not sure if Spell Damage fits a lot since the only damaging spell is Blaze of Glory (which feels super dangerous with it BTW). I'd probably change the effect of Hydro-Hammer.
I'd reword Anthrazite as "Cast a copy of the highest-Cost spell in your starting deck. You choose the target." IDK if I'm interpreting correctly. In case there are several spells of the same Cost, I'm guessing it chooses randomly but tells you which spell it is before choosing the target, right?
Love Tidemaster Shellbreaker.
Warlock
Really enjoy Felblazer (because of the trade-off) and Illicit Substances (because of the flavor).
Does Malignant Manager deal damage to your hero or to itself? I'm guessing the former.
A bit of a nitpick, but the 6/6 Demon should be an Infernal (and I feel the 7/7 should be a Pit Lord).
Warrior
I don't get the design of Strongarm Champ. Like, the opponent probably doesn't want to attack it with small stuff given it has Overpower, don't they? Flavor is top notch, though.
Love the design of Knockout Punch. Rokara is also very cool.
Neutral
Balance seems alright overall.
Some cards have excellent flavor, like Wrestling Partner, City Tourist or Fleetship Broadcaster.
I like the Neutral weapons, really fits the flavor of the expansion. Training Sword is really cute.
Natural Clergy is misspelled. Its current name is Nautral Clergy. Cool design btw.
Not a fan of the similarities of the two hero cards, especially considering they don't seem to be related flavor-wise. I'd probably keep Blazleflange and try to cook another legendary.
Mini-set
Hexos is kinda crazy, I'd love to see him in the game, although he'd be a nightmare to code for sure. Many effects that mess with board size and stuff.
Bloodshedder could probably be a 2/3.
I don't get how does Storm of Arrows work.
Cards I really like: Rune Tactics, Leona Earthwind, Submission Holder, Champion's Belt, Dagger Instructor and the Teammate cycle.
Overall nice mini-set, I think it complements the main set very well.
At the top are heroes that have a 1st expedition skill that provide flat attack or bonus damage, or a debuff, to the Bear. And put into lower tiers heroes with chance-based skills and into the last tier heroes that have no useful skill or their skill is too gimmicky for bear.
I am not claiming that this is one truth to rule them all, I explained my reasons for listing the heroes as they are now in the respective section ;-)
Now that we've finally seen the full set for Into the Emerald Dream, I'm even more proud of this set than I was before because a lot of the set it kinda mid and weird. I unironically enjoy your set better than the one we actually got.
I'm still not in the greatest position to do a huge feedback post because I'm in the middling of settling into a new place, but once that's done, I know I'll be coming back here to do a much bigger review post.
The raza rework is brutal, practically deleting the card.
Removing bob's ability to steal minions makes the card all but useless to most decks. The only good thing now is the freeze effect, just ask how many times youve even used that.
Terran card nerfs are near inconsequential. But zerg got fucked because infestor is basically dead, and zerglings just lost the only good thing they ever had. At least terran cards still functions the same way they did
Nerf to incindius is weird. Like is this really that insane? For the most part its never played on curve anyway, and is mostly a control counter.
Zarimi, alien encounters, hydration station, expanse, orbital halo, hero cards, and painter's virtue remains strong cards that will continue to see play.
Is this zilliax's 5th nerf? Like really team5, if you hate unkilliax so much just move the card to wild. Without the reborn, unkilliax is basically dead at last. We'll have to see whether it was worth it.
Arkonite defence crystal died for dhunter's new cards
Leaving protoss cards alone will come back to haunt team5. Im expecting them to get nerfed at some near future
Its a high gamble from team5 because lets be honest the upcoming expansion is mostly underpowered at best, and at worst is uninspirational i.e. shit. The mass nerfs is needed to have them see play but we'll have to see whether its the great beyond cards thats the biggest beneficiaries of these nerfs, because Im still convinced that starships arent really that bad. Now that most of the removals are gone, it might actually shine now.
Tyrande - Its pretty much broken because you can easily just play her turn 7, then turn 8 you just blow your opponent away with stuff like acupuncture and moonwell. As long as youre not dead yourself, that's 24 damage which will for the most part be enough. Might even do more with spell damage.
Outside of that, well the only real concern is that there's not much else to use her with. There's no free for amber, or something that puts big stuff on board. Ritual of the new moon helps but chances are you'll rather just play it on 5.
Priest imbue cards and hp - I guess we finally found out the fuss that was about raza's rework. I thought the imbued hp was gonna be nuts, but turns out its basically just popping out a card every turn that you cant keep, so effectively its useless in the early game.
Its not merely that, but the fact that the imbue cards for priest are rather shit. Lunarwing messenger has only 1 health and so will never realistically do much else other than its battlecry, and kaldorei priestess is too expensive and doesnt remove board. The only good thing about all this is that its a control deck's hp, so you dont need to add in the other neutral imbue cards into your deck and just fuck it, 4 would be enough.
A better discussion would be to ask whether its even worth it. Tyrande is already a good enough finisher on her own, and the protoss cards are far better for value. So where does this even come in?
The other priest cards - Its does what it says on the tin. There's not much to comment on it because all of them just do damage or summon board. Nothing special here or anywhere. Feels more like hunter cards to me, because when you say priest the first thing that comes to mind is useless or toxic, these cards are decent but uninspirational.
Priest cards good. Or rather I should say better than the others. Solid cards for a class that traditionally get toxic cards.
Damn, didn't see the year and thought they were talking about this year :( guess they have to let everyone know a year and a half in advance to try slowly build up the hype
I dont know. I have not followed it all that time. Just got a random youtube video recommend when Closed Beta was suddenly announced last November. Been following it via watching youtube since there and I loved the gameplay. And must say I love it still after playing it.
But the controversy with the pay model is real. Guess we will see how they go about it.
This month I have been playing my Mobile Games I always play and had tremendous luck in my Pokemon Masters EX pulls.
Other than that. Been playing AC Origins and Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes. At first I thought I would do the full 3 stories but I think I will put the others on hold after I end "Scarlet Blaze" as my switch backlog is not enourmous but big enough for me to want to diversify a bit.
