    Fair points all of them.

A little defense of my card: I thought giving Mage a wand as a Weapon in an expansion themed around a magic school would be flavourful. I mean, what kind of card type would you make a wand if not a weapon? The wand increasing your magical abilities seemed natural, too, thus the Spell Damage. Triggering the effect was meant to be easy as well, since a mage should not have problems using their wand to their advantage. I concede that the 3/2/1 statline is a bit random but the point I was trying to make is that a "stick" isn't that great of a weapon. Finally, I accept that this would be very powerful in a meta without weapon removal, but my argument against that point is that Scholomance brought along strong Weapons synergies for at least Demon Hunter, Warrior and Rogue.

  • Samsung Galaxy cardback?

Hey, just today I´ve noticed that my Samsung Galaxy cardback from logging to Samsung device is missing. I though it´s bug on my side, but I´ve tried to check my alt account and it´s gone from there too. Restarting game doesn´t work. Is anyone else having this issue? Is it a known bug or should I contact support?

P.S. I know it´s not a big deal, I don´t use it that much, but I hate having my earned cardbacks vanish from my collection for no reason :/

  • We need more Hero Power borders

    Pro

While we're at it complaining about all the stuff Blizzard has messed up over the years, I'd like to add my own little piece to the pile: Hero Power borders.

It really is beyond me how they can offer new Hero skins on a regular basis without giving us a platinum / diamond / whatever Hero Power border for 1.000 wins.

Lots of players have invested incredible amounts of time to reach that mark and thus by all means earned their bragging rights. So why is it so hard to do the same effing thing as they do at 500 wins and give us a new Hero Power border on top of the in some cases horrible portrait? I am very proud of my 1.000 Hunter wins, but I'd very much prefer to play with Sylvanas than dumb face Rexxar.

So yeah, this is a minor issue for most players, but I'd really like to have a 1.000 wins Hero Power border.

I had these questions a while back about these custom Hearthstone, I meant no offense, I respect anyone decision about arts. I would even encourage them to keep pursuing this.

The thing is, up until now, after 6+ years, I haven't seen yet a single custom made Hearthstone being used by the Hearthstone team (please correct me If I'm wrong), since they always made their own arts (or new keywords) from their own team, maybe some arts from outside source, but never about the gameplay design or keywords.

This is incorrect, while, ofc, we cannot with 100% certainty tell, if some real cards were inspired by Custom cards from community, there have been numerous instances over the years where cards from Custom expansions/classes and/or individual cards from various competitions have made it into the game in very similar, or literally the same, form (barring the art/name) as those made by community.

While some ideas one could argue would make it into the game sooner or later, so it wasnt really that much of "prediction", it could have influenced devs to finally put them in the game, if they were repeating among community a lot, this is also a way to give them feedback and "tell" them, what cards would we want to see in the game.

And as Demon said, it is a hobby as any other, so yes, we design cards for fun just for ourselves, or others to share them with :)

Well, that was a tough one. I eventually got frustrated enough to sit down and write a short analysis of what could be done with a 1 Durability Weapon. That finally wielded 2 interesting ideas. I've put the more straight forward one to use but had to do with mediocre art. Maybe I'll try to go with the rational method for the next weeks instead of following my first gut feeling as I usually do.

If someone's interested: I've submitted Cedar Wand. It was tempting to go full Harry Potter crossover and make it a legendary Druid "Lifestick" that restores all friendly characters to full Health via Spellburst, but cards like this are hard to balance and rarely do well.

The second interesting idea was to make a 0/1 Weapon with a strong Deathrattle for a class that has no easy access to weapons. This would have required more time to thoroughly think through which I don't have right now. That's a shame because using Deathrattles would have been a nice idea this week.

I must say i dont much like your design this time around, not only because i feel like its too strong, super easy to trigger and if there is no weapon removal, you literally have +2 Spell Damage for the rest of the game, but also because it feels like the effect is a weapon just to satisfy the prompt. Not to mention why is it a 2/1 weapon? Seems random.

I liked this prompt a lot, because it had a potential to come up with some interesting ideas. The easiest one was to try and figure out how to increase the Durability of the weapon, while that was kinda a bait, some ppl did a really good job and were creative and/or added a great flavor to the effect and why it does that.

But many ppl fell short to the fact that they just slapped their effect on a weapon, because they had to make a weapon, and the effect makes no sense, it could have been on a minion or been a spell and it would make more sense. Also giving weapons to non-weapon classes that have no reason to get a weapon in an expansion you attributed it to is weird, again, for no other than that you wanted this effect for this class and it had to have been a weapon.

Maybe im too strict and i do want everyone to have fun when designing their cards, i just wish these were some factors that ppl would consider more in the process, thats all :)

    GL everyone!

  • I'm so tired of losing against stupidly overpowered elementals...

    Staff

Yeah, i cant count games, where i highroll Nomi only to see 1 elemental in next three turns total and lose because i couldnt scale. Elementals are strong and they have really high highroll potential, but it does take time to get going and Divine Shield and/or Poison is a counter to them as anything.

What im more bothered by is, how most compositions live or die by if you go first or second. I really dont have a good way to "fix" this, maybe at least be guaranteed to alternate going first, if you fight against the same opponent in a row, like battling for 1st spot if only two ppl remain and have to fight several times etc.

Imagine Alakir going 1st or 2nd, HUGE difference. Or if we stick to elementals, imagine going 1st with your Wildfire or Cyclone, and snipe 2 or 3 (or more) enemy minions before they can act, or go second.

I really wish going 1st or 2nd didnt dictate the outcomes of majority of the games, especially in the late game, you can prep all you want, but a coin toss, literally, decides the outcome. I would hope for more.

I sure hope the level 50 portraits will be made available in the upcoming expansions. It would suck to only be able to obtain 1 out of those 10, even though I don't really like most of them.

Right now, I'm torn between the Gul'dan and Valeera. I'm leaning towards Gul'dan even though I don't really play much Warlock because the portrait just looks so cool, while Valeera is an option simply because there's a scarcity of Rogue portraits.

It would really be a strange decision, if they didnt ride these portraits for a few years now, since 10 portraits covers at least 3 years worth of expansions, if you get one per.

  • Riot Brazil Leaks More Cosmic Creation Cards - 4 New Noxus Cards

So what do all of these cards have in common?

They can destroy (board or hand) an enemy (follower).

    My guess for Riven:

LVL: Destroy 3 enemies to restore your blade.

    Possibly "I've seen you...."

LVL2: Something powerful to make it worth running suboptimal cards.

Wild Guess: Whenever I attack deal my attack damage to all enemies (aoe attack like riven's ult)

Thanks for the responses. For better or worse, there haven't been many epics/legendaries that captured my imagination, so I'm kinda OK holding out for a (slightly) better chance of something more interesting when the mini expansion releases. It does put a damper on pack-opening day though; here's hoping that Blizzard will take note and revert to something more akin to Galakrond's Awakening for introducing small sets. Heck, it doesn't even need to be packaged in an adventure; just straight up offer the cards for a fixed cost.

As a new Wild player avoiding Illidan in standard, i can say that Reno Secret Mage is so much fun. Though i'm not sure if C'Thun, the Shattered is fast enough or is it worth it, usually it's either druid swarming me or priest gunning down my face.

  • Hearthstone Battlegrounds Rating Resets Next Week With New Content - Here's What That Means!

There is no such thing as external mmr because the external rating isn't used for matchmaking. The number you see is just ment to give you some sort of progression.

"We want our rating system to both provide a sense of progression through gameplay and create fair matchmaking. It’s very hard to achieve these two things simultaneously by using only one rating. Therefore, we designed a “dual-rating” system to address our intention. In the updated rating system, there are two ratings—external rating and internal rating:"

    Q

  • Hearthstone Battlegrounds Rating Resets Next Week With New Content - Here's What That Means!

what is the point of having a rank if you always face the same level of opponents?

It's not clear to me what the point is for Battlegrounds, but I think the case for it in the constructed formats is pretty straightforward: your external ranking determines your ranked season rewards, while your internal MMR determines how to best match you up for fun/challenging games. It doesn't seem like they're announcing any particular season rewards for Battlegrounds, so the distinction may not offer any value today. But perhaps they'll add those soon, and this is just a step in that direction.

How would you climb if the MMR tries to always pair you with opponents of your own level (which would lead to a 50% average winrate)?

MMR is based on the long view of your historical win rates. Again thinking about constructed formats here, but even if matching were always perfect, you'd still have win streaks and deck choices playing a major role in your shorter term success despite being paired with opponents who have similar long term success. For example, if I'm playing on ladder, at a ranked floor, and struggling to make progress against a sea of Aggro Demon Hunters, I could make a control deck to specifically target them and try to "artificially" improve my win chances despite the 50% average winrate that my MMR match is trying to give me.

Battlegrounds has certain parallels. If I see that both Beasts and Murlocs are available, I'm more likely to want to pick Jandice Barov, for example, because I have better odds of getting early tokens that I can turn into golden units with a Brann + Khadgar combo. Knowing the interplay between available tribes and available heroes may give you an edge despite having similar MMRs. Then, of course, there's a component of good luck with your rolls. That will average out over time, but in the short term could help you jump between ranked floors

Of course, this all assuming perfect matching, which is itself impossible (even if there's a perfect match out there, they might not be online at the same time you are), so some amount of noise in the matching can also account for moving between ranked floors.

  • mini expansion

actually this expansion had lot of expectations, but very little impact. Most of Meta decks have very little (almost none) epic/ legendary of the new expansion ... So let's see if new cards will improve the impact of the expansion...

  • New Targon Champion - Zoe

I honestly think it's so weird that they made this an "I've Seen" Level Up. They should do something like what they did with Fiora and have her Level Up from seeing 5 cards with different names played, then change her Level 2 to "Once I've seen you play 10+ cards with different names, for the rest of the game, when you summon a unit, grant its keywords to all allies." Then she would be able to keep at least some of her progress.

Edit: Alternatively, they could change her level up to "Copies of Zoe have seen you play 10 cards with different names."
