  • Group Therapy! Need to blow off some steam? Mega salty? Here's the place!

I'm sick of this Diamond 1 hurdle that I just can't overcome this season. Every time I'm one star away from reaching Diamond 1, I end up losing. I've failed like 5 times already. SO FRUSTRATING.

  • [Game] Card Treasure Hunt (The Resurrection Attempt)

Happy for someone else to post a riddle as it's been a while :)

  • Cheese's custom core sets revamp - Global thread (done!)

    Quote From Cheese

    To give some answers

    • On the removal of Charge (which seems to be the most contentious point) : First thing is I didn't remove it completely since it is still present on Skycap'n Kragg (and will be on class legendaries). Second thing, the Charge keyword is a powerful keyword on any card especially those with a high attack/cost ratio. Having those in Core sets limits design space for future cards. Stonetusk Boar has been problematic several times (with [Hearthstone Card (Caverns Below) Not Found] and Dire Frenzy). Bluegill Warrior was problematic in Anyfin Paladin (even though that deck was never tier 1, it's uninteractive).
    • On basic cards that are supposed to be bad : The game has been powercrept to such a degree that "fair" normal cards have nearly no change of seeing play. Even if the power level of the core sets is raised, the average power level of expansions is so high that new players will quickly learn how the game works anyway. I don't think a 2/4 Patriarch and a 7/1 Rager will change that. (Shieldbearer also serves that purpose of showing that stat distribution matters).
    • On the core sets being pure tempo : I agree that my Basic set is nearly-pure tempo not by choice but as a consequence of it being simple. There's only that much you can do without advanced mechanics. For the Classic set however I tried to go beyond pure tempo and put some control/combo cards in there. Did I fail? It must also be compared to the currently existing sets. When you get rid of cards that are supposed to be control but are bad, there isn't much left anyway.
    • Alexstrasza and Nozdormu : I changed their effect instead of HoFing them for one simple reason : they're cancer as they are. I don't want them in ANY MODE neither Standard nor Wild. Alexstrasza nullifies all efforts to counter combo decks. Nozdormu is bad because it penalizes players for reasons external to the game (disabilities, bad mobile, etc...). I stand by that choice.
    • Malygos : The initial version of this post contained a lengthy explanation for each choice I knew would be controversial such as Maly but I scrapped this part because nobody would read it. I'll CP the Maly part : "Malygos is a good illustration of the difference between design space and deckbuilding space. Malygos restricts design space, namely space for cheap damaging spells. However, Malygos also created archetypes around him. Despite fears, those archetypes 1. have never been oppressive in the history of HS and 2. have varied across time. I estimate that the deckbuilding space Malygos creates is greater than the design space it restricts so I left him in the Classic set." (and yes, I will HoF Moonfire not just because of this interaction but also because it doesn't fit Druid in general).
    • Justicar Trueheart : I'm not sure why it would be too OP. The only deck that historically played Justicar were Control Priest and Control Warrior, both of which can be countered (by sustained pressure and value generation respectively). Other classes' upgraded HPs are generally not worth playing a 6mana 6/3. Having Justicar in the Classic set also show players who didn't play during TGT/Witchwood what the upgraded HPs are.
    • Subject 9 : Secrets aren't for tempo. Drawing 5 secrets (but you must first put them into your deck) may become too good at some point in the future, but like Malygos I think the deckbuilding space it opens is way greater than the design space it closes.
    • Scrapyard Colossus, Fungalmancer : I admit those were on the edge and were pretty late inclusions in my sets. Colossus is supposed to fill the role of the high-value big minion that is awesome when cheated but maybe it restricts design space too much? Fungalmancer replaces Defender of Argus/Stormwind Champion as the zoo buffer. I remember that it became playable only after the nerf to [Hearthstone Card (Spiteful Summonner) Not Found] so presumably it won't see play everywhere.
    • Arcane Devourer : My reasoning for not buffing it is that it could become broken if it is mana-cheated with the right cards. However I agree that in its current state it has no chance of seeing play. Will reduce its cost.
    • Acidic Swamp Ooze... yeah it was a mistake to replace it with Corrosive Sludge. That change was made only to keep a smooth curve. I will reintroduce it in the next version (but as a 2/2).
    • Yeah, I will continue to replace art that deserves to be replaced.

A new version of my neutral set is under way.

onyl problem charge in absic/classic is the boar and devs intoanly keep ti as its never issue on tis own(worse elve archer) they use for ,if gets sued is prolyl soemthign wrong.

Alex and nozdormy just wrong just make new version then DONT DELETE CARDS and theyre  anon fucking issue in wild.
Ooze yeah was a msitake to replace it and DONT NERF IT ,its not an issue at all and n never has been, never will its a good TECH CARD if doesnt need netfs.

Arcane devourer is a increbdly stupid reason to not buff and FOR MAN CHEAT YoU GOT WAY BETETR OPTIONS.

Sorry but i think youre just terrible at it.

  • Pack Opening Results

    Pro

Just finished my Fireside Gathering Pack Opening and wanted to share the results with you. I've opened 5 golden and 83 normal Darkmoon Faire packs.

The 5 golden packs netted me 1 golden epic.

From the 83 normal packs I got Zai, the Incredible (pack #2), Tickatus (#27) and Greybough (#64). On top of that, there were no less than 18 epics, one of them golden.

All in all I'm rather disappointed. No new old god and none of the legendarys I wanted. 3/83 is okayish but I've had way better luck in the past. The epics are great in quantity but absolute garbage in quality. Barely 5 of them are playable imho. Guess I'll have to spend my entire 8.000 gold on additional packs on release day.

How was your early pack opening? Any better luck?

  • Dragoon Custom Class

Oh boy, look at that, the entire Darkmoon Faire set is now revealed. You know what that means from me: Dragoon's own Madness at The Darkmoon Faire set!

And to kick things off, here's two cards for your perusal for now, come back in for tomorrow, where I'll reveal 4 cards for one synergized package!

Oh, also, there's a Book of Heroes and Duels section now! Still in progress, but go ahead and take a look :D

  • Blizzard Responds to Hearthstone Battle Pass Experience Concerns

I think blizzard got jalousie of valve and they want to kill there game too , well keep it up like this you will do it sooner then later

  • Bugged Darkmoon

I get that the achievements coming in and out is rather annoying, but even if it preempts you on your pack opening does it really matter since you'll be getting that legendary anyway? Its not like its taking it away from you.

But I won't lie, I'm getting tired of being reminded that Ive 'set the standard' for the umpteen time. Perhaps the devs will include something to turn off the bloody alerts.

  • The Pepper Thread - Share Some Good Vibes!

    Pro

Yesterday, I fooled around with a spell focused Highlander Hunter on Wild ladder and managed to beat a Raza Priest and two Reno Mages with it. Decklist below, but it isn't mine.

This morning, my cat woke me at 4 in the morning because he was bored. Trying to get back to sleep, I had a very cool idea for a Christmas themed custom card. I'll keep it for myself for the time being, but only until a competition comes where it might fit.

  • Blizzard Responds to Hearthstone Battle Pass Experience Concerns

Players- The math doesn't add up. You're wrong about your promises.

Blizzard- Pay no attention to the numbers behind the curtain. It's all the same as before. We swear!

  • discard lock

This deck is great, can jump off the blocks very fast utilising Silverware Golem and Boneweb Egg and finish strong with big cards, especially with a buffed Killmox, the Banished One (which should be picked).

  • The Rewards Track - How Long to Get to Level 50, 644000 Experience Required to Get to Level 150

I do not count nongold rewards because of this statement:

…the gold you earn per expansion should remain relatively flat from what you earn now. This should make your ability to buy packs on day 1 similar to what you get now, but with more non-gold rewards added on top.

    [source]

We were later reassured that we don't lose any of our gold in the introduction video about new system (starts at 3:24).

And we were lied to in the face.

About old pack - in my opinion old packs are not equal gold. You need gold for new packs at the start of the expansion to stay competitive and old packs are in fact worthless for the matter. With this new system we get significantly less resources to get them, but it also forces us to work harder to gain fewer gold (all new Weekly quests). On top of that, there will be miniexpansion in the middle of an expansion cycle, that siphons hundreds and thousands more gold from our already thin pockets.

  • The Rewards Track - How Long to Get to Level 50, 644000 Experience Required to Get to Level 150

First of all, thanks, Flux, that's very comprehensive and helpful.

However, I, for one, an going to find it difficult to complete all weekly quests consistently, as well as playing for about an hour each day. That's not a lot, but I have days where I can't find the time to play a single game, and if every day like that is going to require a day I play for two hours to compensate, this system is going to gain me considerably less.

This first week, e.g., I got a weekly quest of achieving 1st place in BG. As someone who has no perks and very little experience or desire to play BG, I changed the quest and instead got the one that requires to deal 2,000 damage in BG. I figured it was easier, played one game, finished 8th and saw I only dealt ~150 damage and realized this is just not going to happen. After they specifically said you're supposed to gain as much no matter which mode or style you play, I find this a problem.

It seems like in order to gain enough you don't only need to play your preferred mode and style, but play all the other ones as well in order to really get far in the track.

  • Our Thoughts on Hearthstone's Madness at the Darkmoon Faire Priest Cards

Stupid Rez Priest again. I guess you can safely say it is the single most hated archetype in HS. Why Blizzard? The least they could have done would have to print a proper new neutral tech card to counter this archetype, but no.

  • Is nobody gonna talk about the new treasures??

Well there's a lot of hype about the new cards so this aspect got lost also a lot of people don't actually have access/will have access to them cause of some reason: https://outof.cards/forums/hearthstone/hearthstone-general/6648-collect-20-epic-cards-from-schoolomance-for-duels-treasure

  • Bugged Darkmoon

Yeah, i agrre the pack opening thing was really annoying. What bothers me is the quest completion, you get the visual XP raise after completing, but when you look at the log, it´s still the same and you need to wait or log out and back in to get the reward :/

  • Bugged Darkmoon

    Pro

Wow, that pack opening bug is really annoying. I've noticed something similar in Battlegrounds, when achievements popped up right at the start of the battle and I could deduce of I would win or loose. Similar stuff with RNG effects with lengthy animations if they decide the game. Not cool!

  • The Rewards Track - How Long to Get to Level 50, 644000 Experience Required to Get to Level 150

This is awesome, thanks for doing it!

  • Bugged Darkmoon

I have noticed some annoying bugs in Darkmoon patch.

    1. Card pack opening is now spoiled. When drawing card pack to opening position, achievements are already informed during that phase, even you have not yet opened single card on that pack. Got some legendary ”ruined” aswell as all the class related achievments. This happened in early opening on private fireside gathering.

    2. Play 50 corrupt cards weekly quest is not working. I have played several (only possible atm in duels). And got only 1/50.

Think that have noticed some other minor things related to achievements, but do not recall details. Very annoying, seems that they have had to hurry and took some shortcuts on playtest.

    Anyone else facing these issues?

  • New Profile Page

    Yeah, I´m missing it too.

@dapperdog I´m sure OP meant the total wins and Hero LVL count, not just highest rank in Play mode, best Arena key or Battleground/Duels rating. Total wins were originally in the quest log, but now it´s just sumary of the best ranks, not actual numbers of all wins.

  • Blizzard Responds to Hearthstone Battle Pass Experience Concerns

I have terrible Fear of Missing Out when it comes to.video games. The old system if i missed every quest in the expansion its fine, i could just buy packs. Now if i miss them i miss out on wonderful cosmetics that Im unable to buy. Very disappointed in the new system. As soon as I get overwhelmed by FoMO disease in any game is generally when I stop playing. I like playing at my own pace and being able to use money to make up for lost time.

  • Is nobody gonna talk about the new treasures??

A bunch of new passives and starting teasures have been revealed and absolutely nobody is talking about them? No post here on OOC, nothing on hearthpwn, no youtuber is talking about them either - I am honestly dumbfounded about the complete lack of information online about this right now.

  • Group Therapy! Need to blow off some steam? Mega salty? Here's the place!

So fucking tired of Face hunter and Control priest. Different sides of uninteractive. One does nothing but go face, the other does nothing but steal shit and dump removal

  • New Shaman Minion - Pit Master

The issue this is that it only gains stat benefits when corrupted, and those extra stats start to matter less and less as the game goes on if you can't play Pit Master corrupted on turn 5. Even in Quest Shaman, there are better battlecries that advance your gameplan better than this as well as the fact that Pit Master is extremely vulnerable to 2 damage AoE. Also, the Revolve potential with this seems inconsistent and more of a meme play.

  • Blizzard Responds to Hearthstone Battle Pass Experience Concerns

They factored in those achievements? when half of them require SPECIFIC LEGENDARIES?

I like that they did the achievements finally but the execution is lacking..

they could at least add gold rewards to achievements.. why? to make new players have a lot of it to kickstart their collection and have long time players some reward as well.. for being.. long time players?

add about 50 gold to each achievements specially the starter ones.. and you have the usual "new players get a lot of content early but progression slows later" which is quite popular and a "Reel in" strategy...

It will make it so at least starting hs makes sense you know.. I don't recomend HS to anyone cause it's so hard to start playing if you don't invest tonnes of time in the game you don't get anywhere near a competitive deck..

  • New Warlock Minion - Tickatus

After having seen all of the cards for the expansion, this is my personal pick for the strongest card in the set. This creates a win condition just with itself and Y'Shaarj, the Defiler. Just send your opponent into fatigue while burning their key cards by playing at least 2 copies of Tickatus throughout the course of the game. Sense Demons can help tutor Tickatus out along with a few other demons to make sure you have this early on in the game. The one challenge with Tickatus is finding the right cards to include to corrupt, but Soulciologist Malicia, Siamat, and Twisting Nether are some good choices to start with. I legit think this could easily become a top tier deck and be one of the first nerf candidates, so watch out!
