This post kind of goes along with what I heard some devs say a long time ago (might have even been Brode) about how the RNG element of Hearthstone can almost be more skill testing. To paraphrase the comment as I remember it: Yes, the RNG factor requires luck and not skill, however, it also takes skill from the players to know their possible outs in regards to generated or discovered cards. (Or in other words, the skill is in how the player manages the environment as you said.)
Which kind of comes back to your comparison of your "bamboozle" play and picking your discovered cards in Hearthstone having three skill levels. Not always knowing what to take, but in some cases even knowing if you can play a Discover card now and just pick something that might fit my deck, or if it's more beneficial to wait until you might NEED something.

Liliana also existed before Innistrad, coming from a set from 2007. I remember when KFT came out and I saw Voss be revealed, I got really curious because there's no way that the two's names being so close is a coincidence. Surprisingly enough, the names are completely coincidental and have nothing to do with each other despite being so similar to each other.
It's not a mage card. You are doing what I did and thinking Polymorph. That's not what it says. Polymerisation is a Yu-Gi-Oh card that combines two monsters. Can you think of a Hearthstone equivalent that might be appropriate for Halloween?
