I know you weren't being serious with the 75%, but I had time to kill so I has a look for myself. I went further than just the word 'random' and included things like discover and adapt, but when you do that there becomes a lot of choices on what effects you consider random, and hence everyone will get a different number. Nevertheless, if we are being serious, it looks like cards in HS that have a random element make up less than 20% of collectible cards.
A lot of it is actually a controlled sort of random (e.g. something like Resurrect), where it only uses the word random because HS has chosen to limit the number of actions possible to the player (looking in a graveyard/discard pile in this case). That might look like it dumbs the game down and makes it less skill-based, but that's not entirely true. The reduction of choice means you need to be a better player to control it at both the deck-building stage and during a game, and you often need to be dynamic in making decisions to seize control of supposedly random effects.
In the end, RNG goes both ways for testing skill. I generally consider RNG that puts things into the hand - and therefore gives players control of what to do with them - to actually increases the skill required to navigate a game (at least on average) because you have to be able to devise new plans as the game progresses. RNG that goes straight to the board is often the opposite, although there are a few instances where it can be a test of skill, such as knowing there's a chance to get a Doomsayer out of your opponent's Piloted Shredder.
RNG fiesta Tavern Brawls are actually a good place to see this in action. In the most RNG heavy ones where decisions are dwarfed by variance I'll have about a 50% win rate, but in the mild RNG brawls my win rate is way higher (I'll often only lose with 1 or 2 of the 10 classes as I cycle through them) thanks mostly to having so much experience with burgle rogue that I'm more adept in those situations than most players.
Excitement for lore aside I love cards that let you swarm the field with silver hand recruits, back when Tarim was in standard flooding the board and buffing the boys up to 3/3's was so satisfying I'm hoping there's other tools to make token Pally viable
It's a massive neutral removal, which I think we haven't really seen before and may warrant the high Cost. As some pointed out, this can be resurrected and used to further control the board. I don't think hope is lost for this card.
This is a card game. One could make that argument about every game - assuming the skill of the players is near equal.
There are many factors that decide a game and in sports too but rng is another factor that makes the outcome extremely random but most of the time the better deck will win
In wild this can be cheated out with Oakheart, allowing you to clear 3 minions a turn faster.
Druid has ways to discount this minion or even just ramp to play it several turns early.
I suspect this minion might find home in a new N'zoth deck - this is a powerful beast to resurrect on turn 10 that can clear at least half of your opponents board. We'll just need to see what other minions you'll run in that deck.
without new support i dont think wild druid will use this at all. a n'zoth druid wants hadranox no other beatss and for oakhearth which isnt really played youd prefer getting the 1/5 that douvles end of turn effects to pull more dragons with taunt from your deck.
Odd pally is gonna love it for sure and for them the corrupt effect is just an occasional bonus, they will run it for the base version is good for the deck if its corurpt thats a nice bonus but they wont run it plannign to get ti corrupted
Hi, Zyella, i see you are relatively new here, that is awesome! I would advise using Quote instead of Reply when replying in a forum thread in general, it will quote the msg you are replying to (as i just did) for more coherent train of thought and other ppl can follow the discussion as well :) Cheers!
unless in wild odd pally or standard divineshield run amog i think will onyl be somewhat reguarly seen of cobalt spellskin an for a control dh (lol) i think immolation aura while more expensive is still better.
unless are cheap good neutral spell dmg or divineshields run amock i dont think will see much if any play
I put the 2 Mana Burns back to 2 Double Jumps. It seems FrostHearth was correct the first time. You really need them to pull Consume Magic reliably (particularly against Paladin) on demand, and to access the Spectral Sight/s early to get a decent sized hand. I do miss Mana Burning in the early game, but this is better/more consistent with the Double Jumps.
I'm currently in Diamond 10.
People probably want to know how to mulligan with this deck.
(1) Personally, I'll usually always hold onto a: Double Jump, Pen Flinger, Spirt Jailer, Chaos Strike, or Soul Shear.
(2) A Spectral Sight or Eye Beam I'll hold as the most left card, or if I know the left-er cards are known and cheap. What you don't want to do is keep a Spectral Sight in the middle or right slot, re-draw some cards, and have them end up being something you won't/can't use for a long time (preventing outcast).
(3) Against Hunter or Rogue, it's good to hold onto a Blade Dance, because it's ok to use it early against Aggros. Against others though, you want save Blade Dance for a later (higher-attack-power) turn, and mulligan it away.
(4) Against the Aggros (Hunter/Rogue) and also Warrior, it can also be good to hold Aldrachi Warblades, just because if you get really unlucky, and still don't draw it after 5-6 turns, you'll likely lose.
(5) Sometimes against a Paladin, It's wise to hold onto a Consume Magic.
(6) Sometimes against a Priest, I'll hold onto a Marrow Slicer.
(7) Sometimes against a Hunter or Shaman, I'll hold onto a Shardshatter Mystic (particularly if I have something like a Spirit Jailer, or Soul Shear also in hand).
(8) The card's you never want to keep are obviously the one's costing 5 mana or more, and also the Hoard Pillager.
Basically the title. I wonder if Corrupt can be triggered using discount effects like giants. Another example: You have Kalecgos in play, draw a Corrupt card and proceed to cast Pyroblast for free. Will this fulfill the Corrupt condition? There are similar combos already in the game we might extrapolate from: Dragoncaller Alanna and Anubisath Defender should follow the same rules. Arcane Tyrant would probably be easier to pull off. Can someone tell me if this works?
With Tour Guide, you can potentially deal 60 damage thanks to Quest Shaman. Seeing as how that deck's win condition is through double Cumulo-Maximus battlecry (which makes the deck clunky because of the Overload) and maybe Pen Flinger constantly pinging, droping those packages in favor of a more streamlined control version with battlecry minions can be an alternative way to build the deck.
Will that be better than current Quest Shaman? I'm not sure, but it can be less inconsistent.
EDIT: Also, control priest gets a win condition outside of Galakrond value.
I know they won't, but imagine if they added a few cards that buff C'Thun's stats, like the in Whispers. And then imagine that in Wild those worked with both C'Thun, the Shattered and C'Thun!
I can feel your frustration. Way back to year 2015, I was 5 wins away from my first golden hero, Hunter. I went all the way up with my own beast midrange build. From there, I couldn´t win a single game! For two days straight I couldn´t get the last wins. I got so frustrated I crafted Face hunter for the very last win and I finally did it first try. Biggest relieve :D
On the other hand, this month I just got my first 1000 win portrait too, but the last 50 wins were quite easy. I often play on both ranks, makes the grind much more faster. Maybe try Wild for the last wins? Odd Rogue is nuts. Anyway, good luck, you´ll be there soon :)
New Shaman Spell - Dunk Tank
I can't wait for this card to make a splash in the meta!
Also would drawing this card from Vashj Prime trigger the corrupt condition?

New Neutral Minion - Darkmoon Rabbit
No I mean the new N'zoth that summons 1 minion of each type, not the N'zoth that summons Death rattle minions.
and when I mentioned Druid I just meant plain ole "I'm ramping every turn" druid who'll drop a 10 mana minion on like turn 5 or 6 or whatever

its not a ealry game board clear as need to play soemthing fo 5cost or higher before this is an aoe at all and then its still 2aoe onyl to most.
For actual ealry game aoe storm is much better and consistent.

Myra's Unstable Element?
New Druid Spell - Solar Eclipse
This card along with Lunar Eclipse sounds like it has incredible Kael'thas Sunstrider potential.
or heck just Kael'thas sunstrider potential with the mana, being able to double survival of the fittest or animal guardians is insane
Silas Darkmoon
No flavor text for this one? Blizz, c'mon!
