Shameful that they made $1bn in loot box sales and couldn't give the team the resources to maintain OW1 live service while creating whatever they wanted OW2 to be. Look at the content Epiq manufactured for Fortnite during the same time period.
Overwatch 2 and the pve mode started out extremely ambitious ("we want to redefine what a sequel is"), maybe even too ambitious as it turns out.
This highlights a harsh reality in game development: You can't plan fun. They clearly tried out a lot to make it happen, as seen during the Blizzconline 2021, but if you try to make something happen for 4 years, and you still have no clue how to do it, then maybe it's best to let it go. Especially when you wanted to maintain a live service game in addition to the pve development that has no end in sight.
This is actually kinda similar to the development of Hearthstone's Mercenaries if you think about it. This mode was also in development hell for a long time, got delayed almost an entire year (first teased on the darkmoon roadmap), while never being able to deliver a experience that was entertaining for the majority of the playerbase. The difference is that instead of deciding to scrap it, they instead tried to tie all the loose ends they had together and atleast decided to release something, even it was dissapointing for a big part of the playerbase.
In the end I'm still somewhat optimistic about Overwatch's pve missions. Sounds like with Season 6 they finally begin to tell the Story they wanted to tell through regular, although smaller, pve mission releases. I remember how cool it was to play the retribution event for the first time, and to think about getting something like it every 9 weeks makes me excited enough.
I guess this whole thing is the peak of the development shift that happened early last year. No more are they holding everything they have back for years and years and years, to then finally release everything they have at all once in a huge bombastic release. Instead they release as it gets finished to ensure a constant stream of fresh content. The defintion of a live service game.
At least I got a couple weeks in of the Wave + She-Hulk combo before I lost it. Bought them both with tokens, too :( All well; back to an older deck, I guess.
While I'm in the middle of internally debating if I should get an Imgur account (and then if I do, actually doing it), here's a card.
Spell Damage Hunter works perfectly for this since it's an established archetype and it still has few enough cards to fit within the requirements.
"spell with Spell Damage" is supposed to be a shorthand for "spell that has benefitted from Spell Damage" since there's not enough text space to write all of that down. I hope that's clear enough.
I've been waiting for an excuse to use spell handbuffing in a comp again ever since it finally became legal in MotLK. Leech Glyph provides Mage with a bit of healing, which might not fit its identity, but that's why the healing is not very high, even compared to Neutral cards. However, the Lifesteal should become more valuable in a deck with spell damage cards. And since it specifies damaging spells, the card pool will most likely be favorable.
Edit:
Leech Glyph was obviously a bit expensive, but I didn't want to make it a 1-Cost to avoid it being a direct powercreep on Magic Trick. For some reason I didn't think of it yesterday, but of course I should've just made it a battlecry. So here's the new and improved version:
My second idea is Ice Sculpting. Warrior has Frost spells now, but so far the only one that actually Freezes is Snowed In. Ice Sculpting is a defensive tool that can be used to freeze a large minion and summon a copy for yourself for later or it can be played together with a buffed up Taunt minion to put a big wall on your board.
I built the most aggressive deck in LOR history and you want to lurk into me?
Get wrecked play something you built yourself
Why do you think I run six pings?
It's called interaction even in aggro my decks can do something about 5 iq plays
And you know what funny this **** isn't even optimized yet, once historic ladder comes out and pro players steal my deck without crediting me they will swap like 2 ratios and be like S tier thanks for all the credit.
Definitely agree with Big DH. Been playing that deck for a while now coz it's skill cap isn't as high as spell or outcast DH. I don't even have Brutal Annihilan and still win games. Pulling out a Xhilag of the Abyss on turn 5 with the coin is an instant win.
Kind of a separate question, but does anyone else do this? Once I hit 1000 wins, I hardly play that class anymore since I want to get them all to 1000 eventually. Feels a bit silly, since I now have a super sweet portrait to use.
I did this as well in the past, but not anymore. All my classes are above 1600 wins except for Death Knight which is only at 600 wins currently. The gap is really too big and to main a single class in a somewhat stable meta is just too boring for me personally. The 1000 wins DK hero portrait is also not that amazing. The one for Demon Hunter is though.
Cranky Hibernator would be the first card to use Freeze in Druid and is probably my favorite. It's a defensive card that can be used against both wide and tall boards, depending on the option you choose.
Frenzied Doomguard is a reimagination of the classic Doomguard, using Windfury in Warlock for the first time. He is better suited for removal, but can also be dropped on an empty board without discarding anything immediately, as he can rack a lot of damage if not removed.
Finally, Soulstealing Familiar has Rush, only used once in Priest. It's basically a Holy Water on a stick, but I think it works better than that card, which was pretty weak.
I play dhunter myself, but dont have felerin. Never came to my mind that I needed that card, but its tricky this one. It has a good play winrate, but I just dont like crafting legendaries that get weaker over time.
Stheno is one of those cards that pros will always be abusing, hence why it remains relevant despite its win rate tanking. Up to you on this one. Its probably one of the hardest to use legendaries Ive seen around, but it'll likely be playable until rotation next year.
But if you'd like to play dhunter, but dont want to spend any dust on legendaries, just play big dhunter. Probably the one and only time this archetype will ever see competitive without a major push from team5.
Charge is only used once in the Paladin, and Spell Damage is not on any Warlock cards:
The Myrmidon has seemingly lost his faith, and gains strength when others waver (i.e: their Divine Shields breaking). A solid handbuff target that can grow on its own (DS minions being good handbuff targets as well).
The Siren lures minions to their doom and gains magical power from their death. Don't know what you'd use her with right now; probably some OTK strategy with cards from her expansion.
I feel like maybe we need to make this even simpler. Like how to build a champion in eternal. It would take me too long to go through all of them but let's do a few case studies:
1. Viktor - so Viktor is a lot more than a high roll body which is how everyone plays him. Come on baby life steal plus elusive no whammy no whammy.
People tend to forget that viktor has a massive number of synergy points and useful wincons.
You could try to atrocity viktor, you could try to run his support pkg, you could try to forcibly give him a keywords, you could a million things other than, play viktor...do nothing...cross fingers
Akshan - often considered one of the best designed champions in lor he's essentially been relegated to a glave strike stick. But he's also a landmark card, or a draw engine or a million things other than a 2 mana quick attackers for weapon equip
Asol - my bread and butter often considered one of the worst Champs in the game but has a unique combo level up that pairs well with ramp.
Poppy - has an entire tribe built around her for God sakes in yordles
Tahm kench - while yes you can run otk landmark in a heal shell and I do do that, Mogwai popularized Aram Tahm.
Tf - goes in absolutely everything
Like the point is I see soo many people fall in the trap of, hard mulligan for 1 drop, ping ping ping, then win game?
Like no unless you are literally aggro don't mull for a 1 drop, hell don't even run 1 drops, mull for answers and then wincons.
Learn to build, learn to leverage the strengths of champions, and then learn to counter, in that order.
This week, we're giving the term "colorful language" a new meaning.
You must make a class card with a keyword that the class doesn't normally use. For the purposes of establishing defined boundaries, as long as the class has less than 5 collectible cards that utilize that keyword, it will count.
Keywords that are exclusive to certain expansions or years (like Inspire or Echo) will not count as uncommon keywords for the class regardless of how few cards in that class use it.
Using class-exclusive keywords (like Combo or Outcast) on cards in other classes will also not count.
This week, Wailor wants the classes to step a little bit outside of their keyword comfort zone.
As always, we can be reached through Discord or here on the site via PM if you have any issues to report.

By now I think everyone is pretty sick of me rolling over the LOR community.with my S tier aggro deck in eternal.
So the question remains how do you build a consistent ladder counter.
Well nifty has you covered because I spent most of my time in LOR being anti-meta before I became the new.meta.
Step 1 counter the deck you want consistently, this one is obvious
Step 2 be able to actually win against every other deck, because unless the play rate is literally 20% you will still face other players the majority of the time
Step 3 don't jank, it might seek funny to play duplicate crystal with kittans to counter aggro but what happens when you wiff?
Follow these 3 steps and you will defeat meta Nifty just as easily as Nifty used to defeat the meta.
And also I'm sorry like Swim I never wanted my decks to be as good as they are.
They are just good...and they've only gotten better with time
Thanks for your take! I've got the dust, so maybe I craft S'theno too? The thing is, I feel super motivated to play DH and DK, since these classes are newer and I have a long way to go to get those 1000 win portraits. I've already earned these for several of the original classes, and the others are not far behind.
Kind of a separate question, but does anyone else do this? Once I hit 1000 wins, I hardly play that class anymore since I want to get them all to 1000 eventually. Feels a bit silly, since I now have a super sweet portrait to use.
Probably dont, unless youre playing on a lower MMR level, because at higher MMR stheno is basically mandatory for wins.
Felerin is the one card I dont like but cannot deny that in the current meta where there's less trash outcast cards this is basically a slightly smaller unnerfed Drek'Thar. If youre going to play dhunter, this card will almost always be in it. But unless youre going all into one class I wouldn't recommend crafting this since its very likely it'll be watered down to nothing in the later expansions.

Yeah you have no idea how to do it do you?

But what happens when the aggro decks become so powerful they outstrip board presence?
It's called spells, one avalanche, one face smash, one anything that isn't just 1 drop ping ping ping.
You see it isnt that eternal isn't a competitive format, it's highly competitive.
It's just that your style of competitive play has no place in eternal.
