  • Diablo 4's Server Slam Beta Weekend - Everything You Need to Know to Unlock the New Limited Cosmetics

  • When You Unintentionally Build A S Tier Deck

So eventually eternal ladder will be coming and this format will actually become important to pro players again.

But as someone who essentially already has had a 90% winrate in this format for the last two months I thought I'd talk about one of the best decks available.

Pirate aggro, while deck has never been bad it has been overshadowed by Annie Jhin statistically.

That all changed with the release of pirouette, Samara, and the new fearsome 1 drop.

I've played this exact matchup and my deck was faster, and most of it is thanks to the flexibility of the new champion being both a burn piece and a removal option.

she is insanely good, even offering the ability to ping block ping on the defensive.

So yes Nifty pirate aggro is format definer and if I see any eternal tier lists without its because your judgement is clouded with disliking me as opposed to objectively weighing the strength of the deck.

  • Upcoming Runeterra Open is Standard

Yeah they wouldn't have a runeterra open in eternal before competitive ladder in eternal is released.

    It wouldn't make sense.

Now they should have released eternal ladder two months ago when rotation happened but whatever.

  • Stop! Doomhammer Time! - Card Design Competition Discussion Thread

I've updated my package...but now I'm concerned it's less a "Doomhammer archetype" and more a "Static Charge archetype". I like the decision-making on display, though, balancing how many SCs are in your deck to boost your support cards versus how many you draw to boost your main damage via the weapon. With the Hero card in particular, you also have to decide now if you Doomhammer on-curve, or wait to draw some Charges first.

Also I double checked and I can fit it :D Forgot I upped the token limit for this one, just in case.

  • Our Thoughts on MARVEL SNAP's May 11 OTA Balance Update - Nerfs, Buffs, & Location Adjustments

    Staff

Noooooooo, my Rockslide :( I dont even use him with Darkhawk, but the 6 power was good enough for a 4-drop :(

Venom did deserve the buff tho, you want to clear the space in a Death deck, but getting just 1 power for it, even tho keeping what you clean up, was pretty weak.

  • New Card - Legion

Invalid Deck ID Shouldn't he have greater power,  being an Omega Level Mutant? I would think he would be stronger than the hulk and the hulk has 12 power on my game. Mind you I've only started playing yesterday.  But still.  I think 4 power is very little.

i play path of champions... i have too much green and red shards(all the regular currencies). but the path of champions chests has alot more value (thats the only reason i purchased the event pass)

  • Stop! Doomhammer Time! - Card Design Competition Discussion Thread

Managed to come up with this so far. I'm pretty happy with Draconic Nimbus. Forge Goliath still functions pretty similar, but it's a bit more straightforward. It's got a unique effect, but honestly feels like it could be in Neutral. I'll probably replace it if I come up with anything else interesting. I've also had a very hard time finding any meaningful effect for my hero card that uses Doomhammer and fits in the textbox. But I don't want to put the direct Doomhammer synergy on another card, because that would break the flavor of Thrall wielding it.

I like the inclusion of a token, bonus for it being Cast When Drawn. Although I don't think you can include both Static Charge and a Hero Power unless we have extra submission slots this week. I'm not a fan of the hero battlecry referring to your "next" Doomhammer. Doomhammer is a Legendary so there should only be one of it. It doesn't really fit unless there's a card in your package that specifically generates it. Maybe change it to "next weapon"? Wait it's an epic!?… I swear I play this game. Also, I did think Energy Enhancer was a great card for this comp, so I'm kinda sad to see it go… Wait, then what was my point in making a card that re-equips it when you've literally got a second copy?!

    Wailor
I really like the new version of Thunderous Gladiator. On the other hand, Storm Bolt is a card I'm divided on. Doomhammer had Windfury and therefore less base Attack, so it relies on Thunderous Gladiator's buff quite heavily in order to fit into the archetype. Ragnar works well, but isn't much special.

    Demon
I'm a big fan of Thunderstrike. Aggro-ish cards that reward you for targeting minions always make me happy. Shock Surger is great too. I do also encourage you to find a better condition for Thrall.

    CursedParrot
I agree the weapons may work better as minions. I do really appreciate that the weapons also profit from their own effects, but it's simply disappointing that you can't play them while you already have Doomhammer equipped. Something I also noticed is that all your effects rely on Doomhammer to give somewhat unrelated bonuses. It would be nice to see some synergy the other way around as well.

I'm having a lot of second doubts about my package. I'm not entirely happy with the battlecry on the hero, mainly because I'm afraid it detracts from the intended archetype too much, Doomhammer becoming more of a requirement than a goal. I am still a big fan of the Hero Power, so I intend to keep it. And I admit Forge Goliath is really just there to 'do what Hoard Pillager does', but a bit more favorably. Which really sucks, because I love it's flavor, so I'm hoping I can go a different direction with it while keeping the flavor intact. With the battlecries on both cards changing, I'll probably leave out the Elemental synergy in favor of making the package more smooth.

About Stormy Charger, I really like the use of Overloading your opponent, because it just feels very original and flavorful, but it's impossible to balance the way it is now. The 'Whenever your hero attacks' part came first because it just works really well with upping any effect in power when you're using Doomhammer over any other weapon. I might have to give up one half of the effect in favor of the other.

I'll see what I can whip up. I'll see if I can get any more feedback, but I'm pretty confident I can make some nice improvements with this.

    ^^ Feedback above ^^

Like what you want me to move onto poros?

I already did that and I won a ton.

Don't mock the poros. They make for a genuinely powerful deck, assuming it's built and played properly. I think I only lost once with it over the last week or so of messing around in Eternal format.

  • Upcoming Runeterra Open is Standard

So, apparently I cannot read dates properly. The Runeterra Open that is coming up this weekend is in the Standard format. The one that will be in the Eternal format is on June 17/18.

So, either I didn't read that properly a couple of weeks ago, or they changed it since then (which seems unlikely).

Anyways, I'm sure none of the competitive players are surprised, but the casual-player-that-is-me was surprised.

  • i literaly want to quit lor after this.

It's certainly a frustrating thing. I find it a bit perplexing that they wouldn't simply give you the lost items.

However, that being said, the things you lost do not amount to much. If your account is anything like mine (and I've been playing since Rising Tides), you have so many resources that you don't even notice when you open a silver chest. Heck, I don't even notice the difference when I open my weekly vault.

So yeah, that customer service is pretty absurd, but what you lost is barely the smallest of blips in the grand scheme of things.

  • i literaly want to quit lor after this.

Ive seen this quite a lot and I have to say that it really depends on your "amount spent".
I am deep in the 4 figures on my Riot account and I never had to wait like more than one day and I allways (!) got my money/currency back when I had an issue or I got compensated with ingame currency (which is the easiest to do for them). No matter the game like Valorant or LoR, whatever.

They must have some kind of priority system in that regard.

I really like the new Static Charge approach, it does a very good job at setting itself appart from the other entries. I'm not sure if you'll be able to fit so many tokens, though.

    Some thoughts about it:

    • Discharge needs to say "Passive Hero Power" instead of just Passive, if I'm not mistaken.
    • The Battlecry of Thrall is too synergistic. I mean, if you randomly generate the card it can very easily be useless. I'd suggest changing it a little or making it a minion (although you'd have to forgo the Hero Power, which I really like).
    • I like that your hero is a cyborg version of Thrall, so I'd suggest changing the art and flavor of the other two cards to fit this sci-fi vibe. Electric Enthusiast could be a Mech if you go this route.

I'm not home so I can't tinker with anything, but I think you have great points 😀 With the Hero Powers, they no longer explicitly say "Hero Power" on them anymore - they made the change with Battlegrounds and Duels to fit more words, I think, then made it universal.

I think your cards are much better now, and if I make Enthusiast a Mech we won't be overlapping images anymore lol

  • i literaly want to quit lor after this.

can someone explain to me why are they like this?

all i wanted is to get the items i lost because of their bug

did anyone experienced anything like this?

Second version of my cards according to the received feedback (the first attempt was balanced quite terribly lol):

Edit: just realized I didn't capitalize "Attack" on the last card. I'll do it before submitting.

I like the defensive approach you took, favoring card draw and minion removal.

My main concern is the condition of Warchief Thrall. Doomhammer Shaman is a very specific archetype, so forcing you to run one copy of each cards could make deck-building a pain in the ass. I'd probably change him to something most Shaman decks can achieve, like having cast a Nature spell last turn.

    AeroJulwin
Using Elemental synergy was a good call. Specific feedback on your cards:
    • The Battlecry of Thrall is too synergistic. I mean, if you randomly generate the card it can very easily be useless. I'd suggest changing it a little or making it a minion (although you'd have to forgo the Hero Power, which I really like). (Yeah, I just copy-pasted something I wrote for linkblade, but it applies to your card word by word).
    • Charged Stormer seems frustrating to play against. I might change the effect to something like deal 2 damage to a random minion or something like that.
    • Forge Goliath is very cool :)

    CursedParrot
I'll echo what Demon said: two weapons plus Doomhammer is a bit too much. I'd probably tie the effect of Flame's Fury to a minion with an aura effect. That is, a minion with "Whenever your hero attacks, give your other minions +1 Attack".

  • Snap Vs Hearthstone (not a rant thread)

Im actually curious what you would call as the best digital TCG out there, because Ive lots of friends who have been playing the old stuff like yugioh or magic and still are, never really turning into hearthstone players like myself.

I've played Snap, Eternal (which is almost exactly like MTG in the mechanics, but has better use of the digital space), Hearthstone (mostly years ago, but with a couple of dips back into it after I initially stopped playing), and Legends of Runeterra.

For me, it's not even close. Legends of Runeterra is the best by a very wide margin. It's extremely F2P, which means you can play just about any deck at any time (which has the further implication that they can do balance changes very freely without having to compensate anyone for anything). As far as the gameplay, it has very deep strategy. Watching professionals play LoR is better than watching HS pros play. It's not as exciting (because LoR doesn't have the same kind of RNG "holy cow" moments as HS, but that also means that skill is far more pivotal in LoR than it is in HS), but it's much more mentally engaging.

Edit - In terms of HS, I just don't find it mentally engaging when the outcome of every game is pretty much 90% decided as soon as the mulligan resolves. All that remains is the two players discovering who has already won.

IMO, people still play Hearthstone only because it was the first big, successful digital card game, and for a few years, it was the best one out there. During this time, it collected an enormous player base.

It isn't the best one out there anymore, by a wide margin, but people already invested a ton of time and money into it, so they fall victim to the sunk cost fallacy and keep playing it, rather than picking up and trying out a new card game.

If Hearthstone entered the scene fresh and new into the current digital card game landscape, in its current form, it wouldn't have a whisper of a chance of gaining traction against the better-designed games that exist right now.

(Side note - I do not include Snap in my list of better-designed games. Snap is a nefarious bait-and-switch that lures you, hooks you, and then becomes an entirely different game once the hook is good and set in your jaws - as soon as you reach series 3.)

To me, hearthstone is still (likely) the most intuitive TCG currently available and that is the main reason why its not died down yet, and if all were made available at the same time it'll still be the most popular - if only because it hangs on the coatails of its much venerated cousin in warcraft.

There's just something about dragging cards towards the face that's just satisfying, gotta admit that at least.

I had the privilege to reopen a Hearthstone account and was severely disappointed  when we didn't get the full dust refund for the rotation.

Never in the history of Hearthstone have they given out full dust refunds for cards rotating.  When they put things into Hall of Fame you could get dust refunds and kept the cards.  But that was a special situation, and no longer applies with the Core set being introduced a couple years ago.  Because now everyone gets the Core set for free.  But you don't own those cards!  They are basically rented to your account, and if they rotate out, they are gone.  The only way you keep Core cards after rotation is if you already own a copy of the cards from their original set, or if you craft/open copies after the rotation.
