I'd imagine the ideal Turn 1 play would be N'Zoth's First Mate pulling out Patches, so you'll both thin your deck and get some bodies on the board.

Soda (the guy who posted the deck) had this to say:

"advantage: it's sweet in the early game vs aggro

disadvantage: sometime you may draw patches before play first mate"

Gwent has that text under the keyword Devotion and I really love it from a gameplay and theme perspective. Fiendish Imp above does a great job of tying those both together for the Warlock class and hope to see Blizzard not just reserve it for Paladin. Though I get the feeling if they did spread it around Paladin players would complain.

I didn't play much after the last patch, but it seems it was amazing for the game

I really was. Between the Ez nerf and the Lee and Heimer buffs, it really opened up a lot of design space

I think they are well aware that giving away 1000 gold's worth generally means they wouldn't be in this year's finance department's Christmas cards.

If this is team5's idea of an event, then its back to the drawing board with them.

I can't seem to remember an event-filled month that is so utterly unmemorable. Just bring back midsummer fire festival please, or something like that doom in the tomb event where we get to play with some wild cards added to standard. I can think of a few classes that can use a boosting.

Congrats to the winners! Some thoughts on the cards if you will:

Fiendish Imp was very well made and was a good candidate for winning! If a Warlock fully gives in to his dark side, he is more than willing to sell part of his soul to call forth some extra power and summon Demons straight from the hand. It plays with the self-damage identity of Warlock in a good way and has synergy with multiple cards. I thought it would be a bit too strong to summon 2 3/3s for free at the start of the game, then I realised that if you were going to build a deck full of Warlock cards, the payoff needed to be something pretty good as Warlock cards suck, so that was fine. My only problem is that Warlock needed to piggyback off of neutral cards to close the game at the time, and this card would suffer from the problem of not having a proper archetype to be included in. I realised it pretty much only benefits from Shadow Council, which adds even more flavor, whether intentional or not.

My runner up would be Meditation which was also a very flavorful card. If I remember correctly, it was a Shaman card, which is contradictory to their Class Identity, but Blizzard has broken this rule so much you can pretty much throw it into the wind. It could have been a Mage card and also have worked well, and even boosted the “no minion” mage archetype that was being pushed, as well as draw parallels to Font of Power.

While the other cards were also very well made, I felt they either did not have a strong enough payoff or just simply did not have enough flavor to make the card truly interesting.

  • À La Card - Card Design Competition Discussion Thread

I don't really have a good feeling about my current cards. So I thought up something else.

I want to put it in warrior, but then the windfury wouldn't fit. I also am not 100% set on the stats.

I will get some more feedback out tomorrow.

  • 梦之郡丨雨爱's Odd Warrior

whats the goal of Patches? i just dont udnerstand is it to make brawl better odds?

  • Last Call for the Scholar Jaina Bundle - Leaves the Store Tomorrow

Same for me, I wanted to buy it but... this is underwhelming to say the least. I wanted to get it, but honestly, I rather use the 1000 wins Jaina as this one doesn't offer anything extra at all.

Amen to that! I'm hard passing on tomorrow's event.

  • The Best Hearthstone Decks for the September 2020 Heroic Brawliseum - Earn Incredible Rewards!

For the regular Brawliseum we got a free ticket, but not for the Heroic Brawliseum, if I recall correctly.

However, that was 3 years ago and Hearthstone has become more generous since then, so who knows what they'll do tomorrow.

  • The Best Hearthstone Decks for the September 2020 Heroic Brawliseum - Earn Incredible Rewards!

I remember last time there was a free admission for the first run. I don't see anything about it, could someone please confirm/deny its coming back?

  • Week 3 of the Forbidden Library - Heroic Brawliseum & the Magic of Dalaran Card Back Returns

Welp, this was underwhelming. After a "three week" event all I got out of it is a mage pack and playing a very short adventure. The rest of the stuff (BG, bundles, brawliseum) I couldn't care less, and already had the cardback. Miss the good old days of Firefestival.

  • Is Out Of Cards where it's at?

I visit Out of Cards for the celebrity sightings. How many have I seen, you may ask? None! But that doesn’t mean they won’t happen.

Also, the original content and news articles are always top notch. I appreciate the work that Flux and all the content creators do on a daily basis.

Even if the forums aren’t always active, I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing. Just remember the ancient proverb:

”Even though one may be speaking, do not mistake that for actually saying something. Buy one order of orange chicken and get a medium drink free.”

I didn't think that the sarcasm in my post could have been anymore obvious but hey this is the internet I guess.

Sure thing, but how many serious Sejuani nerf discussions we had since rising tides? 2? Given how problematic this card is i think overall that the Community slep big way on Sejuani's powerlevel.

No one is sleeping on Sejuani power, the things is the card is a juggernaut in decks that can turbo her but in decks who can't do that, she just came across as decent.

I can make a bad deck for any champion you care to name. That doesn't make them "just decent."

You can make a bad deck for any champion ? That's quite impressive.

Give this man an administrative position!  Seriously 3 paragraphs is more in tune than their entire team.

  • Week 3 of the Forbidden Library - Heroic Brawliseum & the Magic of Dalaran Card Back Returns

Agreed.  Not to mention but every time in the past I've tried heroic brawliseum it's most of the time "who's playing the smorciest deck?" It would be way more fun if they put some deckbuilding restrictions into these, but at this point I feel like Blizz can't be arsed to do anything for any of their games

1000g for most likely 1-3 packs? Thanks, I'll rather buy 10 then.

  • The Best Hearthstone Decks for the September 2020 Heroic Brawliseum - Earn Incredible Rewards!

If I were in charge, I’d make the first ticket free, charge 200 for the second ticket, and keep increasing it until the price maxed out at 1000. That way, everyone could participate until they got to the risk/reward level that was appropriate for them.

Blizzard would win in this situation, too. Sure, they’d probably give away more stuff, but they WANT to give stuff away in return for players’ time and money. That’s how F2P games work.

Also, this would encourage players of different skill levels to try it out. Only the top players are going to pay 1000 gold, and some of them will get crushed because they’re facing other top players from game 1. If you have a player base with different skill levels, everyone will be happier.

  • À La Card - Card Design Competition Discussion Thread

    Some more feedback:

    Show Spoiler

DestroyerR - I love the overall flavor, especially with the yelling text on the big guy. Lifesteal in Warrior is rather unusual, but I don't know what I would put in its place. Maybe an Enrage effect (sorry, "while damaged" effect)? That would certainly connect back to the anger.

DavnanKillder - I think Deadly Banquet is too strong. Secrets generally are worth about 2 more mana than their cost given the requirements, but even at 4-mana a "Destroy all minions who damaged you last turn" could be quite punishing. You could have it say "destroy a random minion that attacked you" to bring down the effect a bit, although the flavor is off. I would stay away from Innocent Apple Seller: Corruption-like cards are generally too slow and weak, even if you get a 2/3/3 out of it.

GameTheory345 - I think you might have too many tokens/cards for the competition: we have a set limit on how many you can submit as a package, and that number is currently 4. Making more Refreshment cards would compound the problem. You're going to have to cut one of the Refreshments, which I think is fine because Discover is a 3-per process anyway. Increases the consistency of the spell by a whole lot. I personally would cut the Barkbeast Pie, the option most people will not use (Mages don't care to heal their minions). If you want to keep the pie art, I would replace Silkweed Brew (considering you have three beverages otherwise).

Inconspicuosaurus - I think you could lower the cost of the spell to 4. Swarm of Locusts automatically gives you seven minions to work with, and you fully control how they attack. Yeah School Dinner can go face, but that's not necessarily a good thing unless you're looking to stretch for lethal.

FieselFitz - This is a minor gripe, but you have a lot of "dead space" in the art around the Murloc, so maybe zoom a little more in if you can? Other than that, I think the card is fine as a slower Murloc: most Murlocs want to go face, but this encourages trading for a board refill.

Cg8889 - I like this much better. It's a cool tutor card that encourages intelligent deck-building and memorization (or the use of a tracker, but nevermind that).

anchorm4n - I agree with Demon in-that it could maybe cost 3 instead. You have to kill a minion, and it only buffs the Beasts you have on the board. I don't find the card to be terribly exciting, though, if I'm being honest. It's just "okay". As for Deep Sea Predator…it's a tech class card, and I frown on those.

BasilAnguis - 4 Health is not a lot, so maybe you could buff Conjure Food's effect a little. The Mana Crystal is throwing me off a bit because it's so unprecedented in the Mage. That said I think I like Morbid Recipe more, even if it's a more complicated Siphon Soul. You could reduce the cost of the pie to 2 (Holy Light) or even maybe 1 (to make it better than Siphon Soul, which is fine given it is an expansion card).

JackJimson - Of course you can provide feedback to others! It is encouraged but not required, and there are no qualifications for doing so. As for art, I just go on Google and type in something like "fantasy (the thing you want) art" and scroll through that, narrowing the search parameters if I need something more specific. In regards to Feeding Frenzy, I think it is both too powerful and too messy with the secondary effect tacked on. You're essentially combining The Beast Within with Bestial Wrath, but it affects all of your minions *and* has another bonus on top of that. This spell would need to cost way more than 2.

TheHoax91 - "Patchwerk" is spelled with an E, not an O. Beyond that, I think there's an inherent problem with your card in-that the second anyone tries to trade into it, they are eaten and added to Patchwerk's stats. If you cannot kill Patchwerk in a single hit, he becomes an impossible obstacle because of the Taunt, and even then I'm not sure if he would die to *any* trade (or if he would instead eat the minion first and gain enough Health to keep living).

Neoguli - I agree with Demon: I think the Chandelier is not really what we're looking for, although the card itself is neat and I like the art. At least with silverware, you eat from those; chandeliers have nothing innate in them that has to do with food.

BloodMeFist - I like it, especially since he's a real NPC as you noted. I can see the Hell's Kitchen flavor, and can already imagine the angry/shouting voice lines haha

Pokeniner - I think you can get away with the card as it is, in-part because the art is him literally drinking in the knowledge. Not sure what I can say about the card itself; it's Roll the Bones, but for Overload. Probably better than RtB because Overload Shamans tend to stock up on the effect, versus Rogues who utilize a few, very specific collection of Deathrattles.

grumpymonk - I'd rather you left it as a Rogue-only card, in-part because as you noted it is a Rogue ability. It's also a lot less powerful in the Rogue compared to the Warrior, which goes a long way in balancing the effect and justifying its 1-mana cost.

Arkasaur - I've seen this kind of effect before, and the art too. I think the card is fine - minus the mistake of giving it a Classic watermark - but unfortunately it's not very original or creative.

KANSAS - What about "Well-Fed Murloc", and finding art of a particularly-bloated Murloc? That would justify the 3/4 stats in regards to flavor, and you could argue that eating such a hefty creature is where the +2/+2 comes from. Not really a fan of Fish Dinner, and I don't just say that because of my own card being so similar. I don't think the sacrifice effect really fits a Murloc Shaman, and they already got a +2/+2 buff spell in Everyfin is Awesome. I know that's a Wild spell, but the overlap is still present.

Ah, the pyramid scheme brawl returns!

The arena scheme means that 50% of all players get 0,1 or 2 wins. The 5 wins break-even point is reached only by 15% and the really interesting rewards (from 10+ wins) only by 1% if I understand this chart correctly: https://hearthstone.gamepedia.com/Arena#Exact_sequence_of_matches

I'll chicken this one out, as I know my limitations ;)
