This is probably the best idea left up to use that I could come up with. This one resembles the Tauren race, who can be both Shamans and Warriors, and both classes can benefit from summoning allies in a constant.

Bad case of crabs....   Cool design.  Pretty much impervious wall to anything but over costed hard removal.  Late game it brings some pain.

  • Week 1 of the Forbidden Library - Mega Wild Bundle, Battlegrounds Updates, Disappointing Jaina

I bought the Wild bundle to expand my collection and my deck building options for the format. I opened a bunch of bad epics, some decent ones, obtained missing rares from a few expansions and just 2 legendary cards. The first one was Archbishop Benedictus which is fine by me. The second one was... golden Whizbang the Wonderful. A little bit too late, unfortunately. I'll most likely disenchant him but i'm not totally sure yet. I still don't understand why they didn't keep the card available for standard. No need to move it to classic. Just making an exception for this card would be enough. It simply doesn't make sense in Wild. It's not like this card would break standard or anything like that. Really bad move on their part.

  • Week 1 of the Forbidden Library - Mega Wild Bundle, Battlegrounds Updates, Disappointing Jaina

So, the entire week 1 of a 3 week event is a pack bundle (which doesn't need to be in an event to exist - see Felosophy bundle) and a Battlegrounds update (which also doesn't need to be in an event to exist). It just feels so underwhelming...

  • Week 1 of the Forbidden Library - Mega Wild Bundle, Battlegrounds Updates, Disappointing Jaina

I'm pretty sure they explicitly stated it will involve Wild cards, so I agree with you and Bersak that it seems like a missed opportunity. I wouldn't be surprised if this was still being done to help bolster Wild collections in preparation for the new game mode, even if they should really telegraph that properly.

  • Week 1 of the Forbidden Library - Mega Wild Bundle, Battlegrounds Updates, Disappointing Jaina

Same here. I'm not going to do the bundle, so I'm just going to assume that the new mode won't require wild cards. If so, that's a major missed opportunity on Blizzard's part.

    Show Spoiler

TheHoax91 - The Discover is going to take forever if you've chained a decent number of spells. I personally don't see much of the Paladin in the card, regardless of its intended use-case, and that's concerning.

Ardin - I like the second version the most, the cheaper one. That said I prefer the original art: you don't have to be so clearly on-the-nose with the coloring.

KANSAS - I prefer the original card to be honest.

bigcums - I like it, although it's kind of scary in the hands of a Kingsbane Rogue. Any minion can become a game-ending threat when it suddenly has 15 Attack. It's a strong card, but it requires some setup so I guess I'm okay with it. "Attack" should be capitalized, by the way.

BasilAnguis - I like the proposed suggestion for Arcane Blessings: it gives different things to the two classes, meaning the same spell can be used for a variety of purposes and outcomes. I like it more than the minion, if I'm being honest.

  • Week 1 of the Forbidden Library - Mega Wild Bundle, Battlegrounds Updates, Disappointing Jaina

I know that this is a dificult time, where people are working from home and all that, but i would really like that they added unique voicelines to the special version of heroes, just like the 1000 wins portrait.

Lets hope that they add them in the future when they have more time for that.

  • This Week's Hearthstone Tavern Brawl is "Blood Magic - Standard" - Pay Health to Cast Spells

Every druid deck should be good enough for a quick win.

Another thought: Offense is the best defense! Let them build up their massive board for 15-20 health und just blast them down with a ton of mage spells!

  • Week 1 of the Forbidden Library - Mega Wild Bundle, Battlegrounds Updates, Disappointing Jaina

I don’t understand why they sell the wild bundle before announcing the new mode that is supposed to involve our old collection.
I’m tempted to buy the bundle even though I play next to no wild, just for the satisfaction of collecting cards... but that’s something I simply don’t want to spent 35€ on.

If on the other hand, I knew there was a game mode at the horizon that requires a large wild collection for full satisfaction ...

EDT: F***, of course it's supposed to have the Scholomance waterstamp. Ok for submitting anyway?

You could submit it as-is if you wanted to. It doesn't have to have the Scholomance watermark; I would prefer it did not, to be honest. That being said you're gonna lose some points from the snooty members of the group - myself included - who frown at the idea of using the Classic watermark.

Also, welcome to the group :D We love to see first-timers!

    Some quick feedback:

    Show Spoiler
thepowerofcheese: I don't get why the 2/1s would have Stealth if they are going to attack right away. I would either remove the Stealth or don't have them attack right away.

shaveyou: I live the flavor, but I just don't think Priest would ever play this card when things like Renew exist.

Linkblade91: I feel like the requirement is weighted drastically in paladins favor since they already have a ton of payoffs for the same requirement.

BloodMefist: I like the 3 mana 3/3 version better. I think the stats are fine, and I think giving it a keyword like Taunt or Rush may be a bit dangerous.

Nirast: I like it. I think you have found a good balance with the Choose One options. 5 stars.

Demonxz95: As I said before, I think the card would be more usable as a smaller, cheaper card. But it is still pretty good as it is, 4 stars.

TheHoax91: I feel like this spell is infinitely more useful for mages than paladins. Even though Libram of Wisdom exists, paladins traditionally don't cast a ton of spells in one turn, whereas mages do.

Ardin: I like the second one best since it feels more balanced than the first one, and also it is a better build-around than the third one.

BasilAnguis: I like Sanctum Defender better. Though you need periods after both Taunt and Divine Shield.

allthehype: I like it. It may be a bit powerful, but it isn't any worse than Time Out! or Evasion. In regards to the watermark, you should probably just use a custom one. I guess you could use Scholomance if you wanted, but since these class combinations aren't in Scholomance it wouldn't make a whole lot of sense.

I'm pretty happy with with my card now. I'll fix the typo, and submit.

Apparently forgot to hit Enter on the edit for feedback yesterday, and it's now woefully out of date, so here goes again!

    allthehype:

Welcome to the competition! I would say this is slightly undercosted, just because of how powerful Hero Stealth is. I'd be more comfortable with this at 4 mana, but otherwise it looks great

    BasilAnguis:

    Show Spoiler
Sanctum Defender is the better card, although I personally prefer Arcane Blessings, but I love a good RNG fiesta card. I would say Sanctum Defender would be more balanced as a 4 mana card though, as I would say a 3/2 Taunt/Divine Shield minion without any additional effect would be almost balanced at 3.

Well, this is scary. The concern here is firmly from Rogue, with access to multiple weapon buffs, this could very quickly become otk material, both in standard with Self-Sharpening Sword, and in Wild with Kingsbane. Buff the Weapon to 10 attack, drop 2 x Stonetusk Boars and go face. Other people might not share the concern, and I honestly can't think of a way to remove the risk without completely changing the card.

    KANSAS:

    Show Spoiler
Really nice blend of the two classes, combining self damage of Warlock with spell generation of Mage. I can't think of any suggestions to make, it's just a really cool card.

    Ardin:

    Show Spoiler
I'd personally discount the first one. The risk of setting up a 16 damage King Krush turn is too problematic in my opinion. I know that Brann + Shan'do hasn't seen much (if any) play, but this would have the same effect, but you don't need a) highlander requirement, and b) to hold two cards in hand. The second one resolves this problem, as you'd need cost reduction shenanigans to pull the same combo.

Personally, I prefer the third, offering a greater benefit with the Shaman quest, acting as draw for Hunter, and just feeling like a better card. It is close between 2 and 3 though.

    TheHoax91:

    Show Spoiler
I'm confused as to the need to make the cards discovered Mage spells? I feel like giving Paladin a hand full of Mage spells is strange, and also a nightmare to play around, as you don't only need to play around a Paladin deck, but also (probably) a ton of random Mage spells. A weakness of Paladin is a lack of solid, single target removal, and I feel like this card would virtually eliminate that weakness. For Mage it's fine, I would just change it to discovering a spell, that way Paladin keeps to Paladin.

    Demonxz95:

    Show Spoiler
Artwise, I like the contrasting colours, rather than the matching. Love the card too.

    Linkblade91:

    Show Spoiler
Liking the second one a lot more. Shadowstep shenanigans is always a concern, but I think it would be fine, as Rogue would get more benefit from the card using bounce effects, but struggle to deckbuild using class cards only. A decent tradeoff imo.

    grumpymonk:

    Show Spoiler
The druid aspect here feels weird. Druids don't really have a link to changing Attack or Health, whereas Paladin, Priest and Hunter have all had stat changing abilities. On a side note, I'm sticking with Scholomance, just because it suits the flavour of the card. It's not beyond the realms of suggestion that Blizz don't suddenly announce a Galakrond's Awakening style "booster set" with new class combinations. I would like to see more dual-class cards in future sets though.

    Nirast:

    Show Spoiler
Wow, a card that could make Savagery playable. Well, move it towards playable anyway. No suggestions, it's solid enough, slightly stronger than Fiery War Axe + Iron Hide, about on par, maybe slightly stronger than with Iron Hide + Heroic Strike, but wrapped into one card. That would be a problem is any of those cards were good, but as it is, they could all do with being better, so why not combine them.

    Bloodmefist:

    Show Spoiler
This is a card that looks scary, but is really hard to execute. Drop it on an empty board, you risk losing the deathrattle. Drop it on a full board, and board clearing becomes a priority. Neither class can proc deathrattles in Standard (and only 2 options in Wild, 1 for Paladin, which can't be combined with buffs) so I can't see it being broken. I prefer the 3 cost option personally.

The text looks a little crammed, but I love the card itself.

Don't you just love it when you're in the top 2 in Battlegrounds, and your opponent first wins with a 4.8% chance, and the round after he kills you with a 9.6% chance, while all you needed to kill him was one win?

  • Dragon Deck - A Symbol of Developers' Stupidity

    Quote From CursedParrot

From my analysis (feel free to disagree or inform me of any mechanics I missed), it seems like a majority of this expansion’s mechanics add strategy rather than swinginess. Therefore, I think it would make more sense to deduce that Riot wants to add strategy and decision making than that they want to add swing plays. I actually think that the biggest flaw in Riot’s design is Flavor, since they seem to have made mechanics like Daybreak and Invoke more to fulfill the flavor of the region than because they thought they’d be the best for the game. Daybreak and Invoke aren’t necessarily bad, they’re just not quite as amazing as keywords like Vulnerable, Plunder, or Frostbite in terms of what they do for gameplay.

I agree with the idea that some of Riot's new mechanics are strictly for flavor, and don't really make sense as evergreen-type keywords, but I wonder about the idea that the expansion reflects a move toward more strategy and less random swings. In particular, while I think your analysis of each mechanic makes sense in terms of the strategic vs. random spectrum, you're treating each mechanic as equal, but I think that ignores a lot of why Celestials are powerful.

First, Celestials are way more powerful in practice than they are on paper because the "extreme variance" of invoke is easily managed. Playing cards like Solari Priestess and Starshaping ensures you can curve out while playing Celestial cards and, since the more expensive ones are more OP, this also ensures you get only really powerful choices. So, any Celestial Control deck is going to have tons of OP cards available to it if/when it reaches the late game.

Second, the way to get around Celestial cards is to focus on tempo and open attacking before your opponent can play their powerful (but slow) spells and big units. But the other mechanics in the set (e.g. Daybreak, Nightfall) incentivize playing units prior to attacking to get value out of their single-round buffs. Even Support has hints of incentivizing board development before attacking, as you may need more units on board to get value out of Support cards. This emphasis on what I'll call "single round tempo" gives Celestials more time to be impactful.

The net result is that the sum total of new mechanics (weighted for this sort of "relative power level") leans heavily in favor of Celestials. I think we saw that in the first week when people were playing with a near-exclusive focus on "new content" - Aurelion Sol was king. The solution to these decks was never to play more new content, but rather to return to old mainstays that emphasize more traditional aggressive or tempo strategies.
