My first idea:  Rogue/Hunter Secret! The art is not final, and I need to make the token still. The idea is if the first Hound kills the attacking minion, the 2nd won’t attack and will retain Stealth.

Interesting idea, although here's a problem with the card.

You know how Mage Secrets show up pink while they're on your hero? Green for Hunter, yellow for Paladin, and a black-ish purple for Rogues? What would this show up as? Would it use the Hunter color or the Rogue color? It can't use both because then your opponent would know that it's this.

I imagine it would just show whatever color your class uses. So if you play this as a Hunter it would show green, and if you play it as a rogue it would be black-ish purple

Oh, didn't even think about that. Yeah, I'd say you're right about how it'd show. I'll add that it also takes into account how it's generated (Like, if you get this from Hunter's Pack, and you're Rogue, it'd show as a Hunter Secret).

Wow, I think this is the first time someone's told me that my card is UNDERpowered. Here's the beefed up version (haven't made the weapon yet in case I need to change any stats):

I followed Link's advice and HYAed. I also followed Linkblade's advice and used a custom watermark.

Question for the mods: Do I need to make the 'Choose One' options as well? I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to upload it.

The first version could work with Rush, but I'd say to leave them as is. Not really sure which I like more. I feel the 5-mana one would see more play in druid, while the 3-mana one would see more play in Pally. Really don't know what to tell you.

I like this version. Not sure how viable a 'pure' version of Rogue would be. I wonder if making it 'Battlecry and Deathrattle' would brake the card.

The cost reduction is nice and allows it to be squeezed into more spots.

Great idea, but I don't see why a) they're beasts and b) they have Stealth. Flavour-wise, the tokens would work amazingly as three 1/1 Microbots.

Quite expensive, could probably cost 3 or even 2. Otherwise, the card looks good.

Now this is an interesting card! It's disruptive, but it can be played around. What would happen if you play it with Brann, do you get to discard 2 cards and only return 1?

Now that's an interesting card. The only problem I could see is late game, where this is just a 1-mana draw 2, but, otherwise, really fascinating design.

  • Destroying ALL of the Opponent's Mana!

    Very interesting; sounds really fun.

Sooo disruptive. Mana burn has got to be a really reliable disruption effect right? It's not like Glide/hand disruption, where the opponent might luck into exactly what they need.

I wish I has more of these cards to be able to try this. As it stands, I am very far from being able to construct this.

So ... I just copied this deck last night while playing on my phone, and not realizing it was the same deck I looked at (but didn't actually play with) before (see comment 6 days ago). This deck is amazing! I beat my way from silver 10 to silver 1 using it. Great deck man! Hats off!

Forget what I said about a Wandmaker, this decks runs too well, such would probably be a mis-step.

Kayn Sunfury and another Pen Flinger would be only things I would ever want to include. Kayn,  just to give a third pivot around taunt minions (in addition to the 2 Consume Magics), and since he also has charge, I imagine he works well in this Aggro-style deck. The 2nd Pen Flinger not so much for using them both in the same turn (although one could) but moreso because it's a real bummer when you can't actually draw it early it since it's sooo helpful.

Regardless, I still wouldn't want to lose the Chaos Nova for them. The only cards I could live without are maybe one Sigil Runner, maybe 1 Double Jump; the rest cannot be changed. But weighing it all out, the speed offered by those 2 cards is probably more important than the 2nd Pen Flinger for consistency. It's really awesome when Double Jump pulls you that Consume Magic when needed.

So I'm still torn between cutting one Sigil Runner or Double Jump for Kayn Sunfury. It's tough. Did you ever play with Kayn Sunfury in this deck. Does it pay off? Does the deck seem to suffer with one less speed card?

Ah, ok, I see. Thank you for the reply, as a commander main, I like seeing WOTC supporting older sets and archetypes.

  • Branching Out - Card Design Competition Discussion Thread

Feedback generally agreed that the card was too weak at 5 mana 2/4, so I'm trying two different routes.  The first bumps up the stats so that it is even harder to trigger, but represents a decent threat on its own and has a massive payoff.  The second brings all the numbers down to fit a more aggressive playstyle.  I have considered giving it Taunt, but it seems a bit weird in flavor.  Rush also hurts the flavor a bit and I fear that it would make the card essentially a Savage Roar+.

Feedback will come later today, lots to get through

  • Branching Out - Card Design Competition Discussion Thread

For my card, what if I cut off the Rush and make him cheaper in compensation? 3/2/2 keeps his original stat-line, and makes him easier to bounce; that's ultimately what the Rogue will get out of this. The Paladin comes with other no-Neutral payoffs, while the Rogue gets to bounce Edwin for multiple buffs.

    Working on feedback now.

I've been thinking about what watermarks to use for this comp.  Should it be Scholomance Academy, since that's the set where dual-class cards first appeared, and it wouldn't make sense to use another watermark? Or should it be something else, since Scholomance didn't have the dual-class combination of the cards we're submitting, even if the card flavorfully fits?

    Anyways, more quick feedback:

I always penalize people for using watermarks incorrectly.

Hypothetically, it wouldn't make any sense for these cards to use the Scholomance watermark as the set of cards for the combination you use wouldn't exist, although I actually am willing to overlook this and not penalize people for using the Scholomance watermark. It's very easy to think dual-class and immediately associate that with Scholomance and perhaps the card you make could be a theoretical imagining of the set where that would be the combination instead.

Ehh how is a big deal getting 7 wins in expeditions?

If i would post every 7 win expedition i do, i would have been banned from this forum for spamming (or annoying with the bragging) if you know how to draft , getting 7 wins is not a big deal. And no, it is not necessary to play targon + invoke spam to get 7 wins (for anyone who still believes that nonsens)

If ever there was a time to use a custom watermark, I would say the time is now. Do not use Scholomance Academy, and definitely don't use an older watermark. Assume that Blizzard came back around to using dual-class cards in a future expansion; this provides you all the breathing room you'll need to flex the card's flavor and mechanics.

I like your dwarf cards and I like how you give Hunter some love. It's a class that traditionally struggles in these competitions. Your idea for this week is pretty cool, but I think it would be better to reduce it to "this turn".

This looks oddly familiar - have you used it in season 1? Anyway, it's a great card with a very powerful effect. I'd expect this to go to the finals, if it wasn't for lots of people hating Priest and it's res mechanic. Your card comes close to this since people would certainly abuse it to create even more Convincing Infiltrators. I know it isn't fair, but that might cost you some points.

  • Branching Out - Card Design Competition Discussion Thread

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I feel like the flavour is good, but the issue is why would Priest run this, given beasts are not a common minion type in Priest decks. I've revised it to this, for a long rambling reason I'll detail in the spoiler below:

    Show Spoiler
Looking at the current Standard pool of Beasts, it's not….great. Once you take out minions with 1 health (no benefit from healing) and just  bad cards, realistically it leaves you with Educated Elekk at 3 cost,  Bad Luck Albatross, Burrowing Scorpid, Escaped Manasaber and Diving Hippogriff at 4 cost, and Lake Thresher and Strangethorn Tiger at 5 cost.

Even with incentive to play Beasts, I don't think making Veterinary Student a 5 cost follow up play is strong enough for it to be considered a viable option for Priest, while making it worse in Hunter. But making it a small, 1 cost minion benefits Hunter, who could use it as a follow up to Zixor, a buff for Augmented Porcupine or a heal for Teachers Pet, it also potentially could encourage a Priest deck running Escaped Manasaber or Diving Hippogriff, or just feed into a bird spamming Bad Luck Albatross deck.

On a side note, I'm going with Hunter/Priest rather than Druid/Priest because Hunter is the one class without a card in the winners gallery, so I'll be making Hunter cards until that changes.

    Anyway, more feedback!

Consider trying to squeeze in 2x Atrocity and/or 3x They Who Endure for some late-game reach. I would probably look to Hapless Aristocrat and Elise for these slots -- they're good cards in general, but they don't have high synergy with the rest of your deck.

  • Zendikar Rising Card Spoilers for September 8 - 32 New Cards and Counting

"If we just keep printing cards that fuck over Uro we won't have to ban it."  -Designer of Shadow's Verdict

Ancient Greenwarden + Fabled Passage = 4x landfall procs in one turn.  And since you can cast lands from your graveyard you can just play fabled passage each turn from your graveyard so long as the Greenwarden is alive.  I believe is you manage to have Azusa, Lost but Seeking in play then you can manage fetching 3 lands a turn and have 12 landfall procs by repeatedly playing the same Fabled Passage from your graveyard.

  • Dragon Deck - A Symbol of Developers' Stupidity

It is heartbreaking to see someone using Gene Wilder as an avatar and taking things so seriously at the same time. But i also did a bad job at stating my point maybe.

Let me specify. I played thousands of hours playing Hearthstone, Gwent and Runeterra and have seen a ton of expansions being released. They all feature  similar elements : wild Combos,  increased RNG and cards above the power average of older ones.

And while i do not like those elements in cardgames i am sure the game designer is trying to give the majority of players what they want (and what they would pay for).

It looks like you took the most offense from the term "effortless". I should have used "easy" or "casual" maybe. Not every player has a lot of time playing a game, learning it and collecting cards. Also, some will never be good players. They come home from work, studying or school and they want a fun time. And i sympathize. Losing is not fun most of the time. I suspect that developers give them cards and mechanics that guarantee a minimum winrate at a maximum fun level, no matter how much time they spent at a game previously and regardless of their current skill level.

RNG swings and cards strong enough that they simply win at a certain point in the game probably help those players enjoying themselves. And there is nothing wrong with that. It is just not my cup of tea.

My first post here certainly wasn´t meant to offend anyone. If i did, i am sorry.

Nirast: I like the card a lot.  The flavor is cool and the design is neat.  It might be a little underpowered, as its adding 2 mana to a 2 mana effect for the benefit of 6 armor.

DestroyerR: Another really cool card.  I like the symmetry between effects.  It might be abuseable in warlock if the discard becomes a benefit.

anchorm4n: I prefer for the effect to be targeted instead of random.  I don't think it would be overpowered with the change.  Not sure what make this rogue flavor-wise.  Do rogues have spirits? My first thought was druid, but I could be wrong.

Ardin: Cool card! This could struggle to find play, as its hard to pull off both sides of the effect in the same deck.

BasilAnguis: I think it could just have taunt without any conditions attached, as having stealth removes taunt while stealth is active.  It would make the card less wordy, as it's a little confusing to read.

Sinth:  I love the idea.  Might be annoying to play against, however.

Elfensilver: I like the first version the best.  The murloc and turtle are really cute!

KANSAS:  I'm assuming making the card dissappear from hand doesn't trigger discard, like how making a minion dissappear on the battlefield doesn't trigger deathrattle, is that correct?

Shivershine:  Seems really similiar to Potion of Illusion, but worse.  I don't think having two copies of the same minion is worth 4 mana. I could see this being 3 mana and still be balanced.  I don't see what make this a priest card, the effect seems exclusively rogue to me. *edit* (Nevermind, it didn't see that it could get enemy minions too).

  • New Hero Power for a custom class

    Quote From Ilphelkiir

I like this idea, but it seems a little weak. The two mana hero powers should be on the level of a 0 cost card (like moonfire, or wisp). The 1 mana HPs should be half the value of a 0 cost card (compare DH HP to pre-nerf/buff twin slice). Considering [[Power Word: Shield]] exists, I recommend making the hero power 1 mana if you give +1 to a stat.

Yeah good point, 1 mana would probably be better.
