Gift of Luminance fits pretty well into both Libram Paladin and Cube Priest in my eyes.
In Libram Paladin, its a great way to consistently get multiple copies of Libram of Wisdom without having to only rely of Lady Liadrin, allowing for those multiple Libram of Wisdom pressure turns to happen sooner.
In Cube Priest, this acts almost like a cheaper Psyche Split so its easily more usable with Grave Rune in the same turn, allowing for those sticky boards to happen sooner.
It's a great defensive card, because you're rewarded for doing something which you would anyway - playing spells. Getting a 3-6 for 5 mana is only slightly better than Grook Fu Master (wait, that exists?), but it has rush and you also get the effect from that 2 mana spell. It's nothing that breaks the pie, but it is very efficient board control tool.
Put in a faster deck like Token Druid or Totem Shaman, this is just as good - it's an efficient tool that works at a premium with your buff spells, proactively protects your littler dudes, and puts pressure on your opponent if it sticks around. Especially since Token Druid wants to run 5+ cost spells at the moment, I think we'll see this gal more in faster decks than slower decks.
I want to like this, but it looks so inconsistent. In Paladin, it could definitely high roll with a strong spell like Libram of Hope, but it can low roll hard with something like Libram of Justice on an empty board. In Priest, it's a similar deal where you could just kill it with one of your single-target removals like Shadow Word: Pain or wipe your own board with Plague of Death.
I guess you could build your deck exclusively with either self-targeting spells OR AoEs, but that seems like a big restriction for either class.
As demonstrated in the video, you cannot run this in any deck that runs spell removal or symmetricaly board clears. You also can't run in it with situational spells you need later (aka Consecration). You'd have to build a full buff deck (meaning one that has no possible ways of coming back into the game) for a ONE TIME effect that hopefully results in a really big minion on turn 4 (or later)
Clearly great in a Paladin deck full of buffs, but I don't see how this works in Priest at all. Yes, there are lots of buffs, but are you planning to run a Priest deck without any removal spells? Maybe that's possible, but I've tried Minion/Tempo Priest on and off as they've tried to provide tools to make it work, and pretty consistently it disappoints. Perhaps the Paladin-Dual Class cards will change that, but I'm skeptical.
Basicallly every Paladin or Priest deck has to run spells that don't want to get pulled by this. Even in Paladin, where there's basically no straight-up negative effects you wouldn't want this to pull something like Libram of Justice of Consecration because 9/10 times it would be wasted.
Even if, hypothetically, we can build a Paladin or Priest deck that runs ONLY buffs (or other benefitial spells) it would be for a single 4-drop with a one-time effect.
I can't see this being played legitimately in any deck...at least not with the current cards.
Man Paladin really is getting the short end of the stick...again. Let's hope Pure Paladin is good enough with some of the new additions.
If you're referring to Shadow Word: Pain than yes R.I.P. Alura, but there is a very interesting scenario where if Alura pulls Shadow Word: Death from your deck, it won't kill Alura if you didn't buff her to have 5 or more attack. Instead it will target another minion that actually has 5 or more attack on the board it can kill.
Even Paladin in Wild says hello with Librams, Blessing of Kings, the 0 cost spell that gives 1 drops, and [Hearthstone Card (Spikedridge Steed) Not Found]
Not sure if this is good enough to be run itself, what with Ray of Frost still kicking, but adds more fodder for the Mozaki OTK mage of my nightmares. Will also be yet another tilting cheap spell to be generated from cheap effects.
Seems better for Paladin than Priest mainly because of all the removal spells Priest has. You could try to run a Priest with solely buff cards, but that still seems a bit difficult. Paladin has more high quality buff cards that also don't have the symmetrical effects some Priest cards carry (like Breath of the Infinite or Plague of Death).
This is really interesting. I think Paladins will definitely play this more than priests just because priests have way too many removal spells. Being able to pull a Libram of Hope out of your deck on turn 4/5 can be game winning. Or even pulling out a Libram of Wisdom or Hand of A'dal is good enough for this to see play.
Okay as pally main have high hope for this card since we were given turalyon. 4 mana 3/6 is best stats, and on PP they are pushing midrange buff or sort so this hopefully see play. Now only pall-rior legendary to be revealed..

Really thought this was going to be a Hunter weapon. So few Hunter cards revealed so far makes me a sad panda.

Also, Gift of Luminance counts towards the discount on Devout Pupil, which also works great in both decks.

AH, I like this card, means you have to be very careful what spells that are placed in your deck

Paladins will benefit more from this card, while priests need to tailor their deck appropriately in order to include this.

Interesting buildaround for Buffadin and Cube Priest... you kinda can slot it in, but you need to be careful with which spells to include in the deck
High Abbess Alura
Well Priest and Paladin both have enough spells to make this an ok card... Though it limits a bit which cards you can run.
