  • These Cards Exist? The Least Popular Demon Hunter Cards in Hearthstone's Standard Mode

I have a Big Demons DH deck I've played a bit recently for fun. Fel Summoner and Soul Split can be awesome situationally, but overall the deck sucks. Why? Because it doesn't make use of 2 of the class's biggest strengths: hero power (and accompanying attack synergy) and Outcast (hard to use effectively because of so many expensive cards). I'm happy to share the list if anyone wants to lose a bunch of games but have some wacky fun with Illidan that's not just cramming everything face.

  • For the F2P users should they make a way to convert shards into coins or wildcards into coins?

In general, I agree with the sentiment that "cool" cosmetics should be cash-only.  Honestly, I am at a point where I kind of feel bad I haven't given Riot any money yet: I've been playing almost daily since open-beta, have nearly all cards, and am enjoying much more than HS, yet I've given Blizzard ~$100-150 over the years and Riot $0--entirely because HS would do the devilish thing where I felt like I had to spend cash to make competitive decks whereas LoR is extremely generous in crafting resources if you're patient and play regularly.

The one exception is that I wish they would provide a few more non-cash cosmetics.  They already have given rainbow poro pet, rainbow poro emote, and moonshine poro as time-limited free-bees and region-specific cardbacks as progression rewards, and I use those liberally.  They also have done the ladder-based icons, but honestly I think those all look like trash.  And no non-cash boards.  Again: I do think all the "cool" cosmetics should be cash-only as that's essentially Riot's sole revenue stream, but I would also like to see a few more offerings along these lines.

Looking at League, they do have a small portion of cosmetics for shards, so maybe, eventually, they will make something like that in LOR as well. The game is still very young. Shards also came into existence in LOL only after few years of the game being out. Not saying they have to take few years to implement it here, but like i said, the game is young.

@OP: Basically what others have said, the game is F2P and the monetization comes from cosmetics, same as with LOL. Be very glad that is their model.

So like, I was under the impression that capitalised ALL means opponents as well? Got this spell from Heimerdinger, I was attacking with mobs and he blocked with his Shen and Fiora, gave both barrier (so he didn't have the mana for Deny) and puff, my minions are dead but his live. Anyone know a reason why his c...ahaha...ok, I just played myself:) the distinction between follower and champion gets lost on a long-term HS gamer like myself lol.. that was a quick shame concede btw

It's a card that's overly specific and not that rewarding when it's pulled off. That's what makes it bad. Germination doesn't see very much play, and it's Soul Split without restrictions with an upside, in a class that literally loves cheating out big minions.

  • Detailed Guide on How to Play Maiev - outlining my thought process on every turn (10.8k MMR)

I put together a detailed guide of every decision I made while playing Maiev. This was at 10.8k MMR in Americas Server. Some of the key points:

    • Try to use your hero power as much as possible in the early game without being too picky, don't tier up on turn 2
    • In the mid game, use your hero power on economy targets (pirate that sells for 3 gold or pirate that reduces your hero power tier cost), buff targets (cards that will buff your board that you don't need right away) or for possible triples in the future that you don't need to buy right away.
    • The key to optimizing your hero power is planning ahead. Do you want to spend 3 gold now to strengthen your board or spend 1 gold to have it provide even better value in a future turn? Key considerations would be board state, your overall health and strength of the lobby, and whether or it helps you get a triple (do you want to discover a minion now or discover a higher tier minion later on?)
    • Don't focus too much on the +1/+1 aspect of your hero power, that's just an added bonus

I wouldn't call Soul Split bad, but it definitely needs more targets to use it on.  Right now there aren't really any small demons you'd want to use it on, and the big ones first have to stick for you to take advantage of Soul Split.

You could use Fel Screamer to then drop Priestess and Split in one turn for 9 mana, but unless Screamer is part of your turn 8 play with those two cards waiting in hand and have the mana to play them the next turn you risk holding back other demons and losing tempo for a few turns while you wait for that very specific play.

I actually had really good results on launch day with Big Demons, but of course that was before everything had been optimized.  But down the road, perhaps by the time Outland has rotated to Wild and more class demons have been released it'll become a more viable archetype.

Other then that, surprised to see that balanced Voidcaller isn't OP... weird!  :)

i havent played the game in like 40 days. im a f2p and if i wanted to craft any of the top tier decks from scratch i could not to mention i basically have already the cards for it minus one or two. the amount of shards and wildcards amassed while collecting cards through playing the game only is absurd. its the most f2p card game there ever was and probably ever will be

    Quote From Grumpy000

How you can add a friend?

    Assuming the PC client:

    1. Log in to client.  I usually do this from Home screen, but I think any screen other than an active match works.
    2. Click on the icon in the top-right that looks like 2 hooded figures.  A sidebar will popup
    3. Click the icon with the hooded figure and "+".  The "Add Friend" menu will popup
    4. Enter Riot ID and region code.  For example, my ID is OldManSanns and region code is moc

To confirm your own ID and code: under that same sidebar from #2, you should be able to mouse-over your icon and see a popup.  If you created your account especially for LoR, it will probably be moc; if you're reusing a LoL account then it will be that which is less simple.

If Big Demon DH gets better, then both Fel Summoner and Soul Split will be good cards.

  • Hearthstone's Iksar Talks Card Balance & RNG - New Patch Coming Before Expansion 2, Possible Dragoncaster & Rogue's Galakrond Changes

The issues isn't necessarily the damage, but the efficiency of having it cost only 1 mana.  The fact that Demon Hunter can always attack for 2+ each turn is ridiculous. With all other Odd decks, they are forced to choose to use their Hero Power or play something.  Whereas with Demon Hunter, they can just charge it up to clear the way each turn.

Potentials could be anything such as Windfury, but only able to attack minions or Heroes, match the Hunter Hero Power, etc.  However instead of looking to solve the problem, Blizzard R&D just makes bigger mistakes like making Twin Slice cost 1 to include it in Odd Demon Hunter.  I got smacked in the face for 10 damage because of this.  It's ridiculous.

The crazy thing about Demon Hunter is that, aside from Soul Split, those aren't bad cards. They're just not supported enough or in the wrong meta. I lost to a guy that played Fel Summoner. I was playing Regis' dumb 'Literally No Minions' Demon Hunter, and I just had no way to remove it. I couldn't hit it with my face and still tank whatever came out. He just beat me to death with an 8/3.

I remember being heavily afraid of Feast of Souls before the expansion release, but all the other card draw the class had ended up being way better.

    Quote From Vandaren

Yeah i probably will play every other third day just to clear quest like you said, thank you good mate!

For me, letting go of that urgency to clear quests was a huge milestone.  I know it feels a bit like leaving money on the proverbial table, but look at it this way: quests only grant you gold, and gold is only good for buying packs and arena tokens.  If you're not really interested in crafting new decks or doing arena runs, then packs and tokens should have minimal value to you--therefore it should be totally rationale to prefer to spend 30 minutes doing something that might actually have a small improvement on your life (e.g., sleep an extra 30 min / watch a TV show / surf internet / chat with friends / etc) rather than perform a task which will only have insignificant benefit.

    Good luck!

I see a world where Fel Summoner synergyzes with Rocket Augmerchant for the instant proc... but DH will need a helluvalot of support to get there...

    Battletag: SirLynx#1266

  • The Harrowing - How does it work?

    Essentially:

    1. Create a list of all allied units that have died so far this game and order them strongest -> weakest
    2. If you have an open slot on your board, summon a copy of the next unit from that list and give it ephemeral
    3. Repeat #2 until either your board is full or the list is empty

    Some interesting points:

    • All summon and last whisper effects proc.  This makes The Rekindler especially valuable, as he will create a non-ephemeral copy of your strongest champion so long as he is summoned in slot #5 or less (if he's in #6, he will try to create the copy but you won't have a free board space so that copy will evaporate)
    • The copies from The Harrowing add to your rez pool--e.g., even if you have only played one "authentic" Hecarim, Harrowing #1 will copy that, Harrowing #2 will copy both = 2 total, and #3 will produce 1 + 1 + 2 = 4 total.
    • When considering how "strong" something is, Harrowing will take into consideration champion L2 stats (assuming they leveled) but not any buffs that only apply when the unit reaches the board (e.g., They Who Endure is only ranked by its 1/1 stats).  I'm honestly unsure whether "everywhere" buffs like Poro Snax and Mistwraith are taken into consideration.
    • Harrowing only gets value from things that have died, which can create some interesting dynamics.  For example: yesterday I was playing a game where I intentionally did a bad block so that my The Rekindler would die and I would resummon him + an additional champ when I played harrowing the next turn.
    • Harrowing's value is also limited by the number of board spaces, so if you plan to play it next turn its a good idea to try to kill off all your less valuable units this turn to free up space.

Yeah, I was planning on having fun with big demon decks when the class came out, but all I've done is Odd and a bit of tempo so far because I just can't find the right tools. Here's hoping we get more this year.
