  • Anyone else ticked about losing golden epic rewards?

I'm in the process of trying to get all my Warlock cards in gold.  While getting a free golden epic each month was awesome, not knowing which class for which it would means that I would rather have quantity that could still populate a golden card or two.

  • Warrior Wavering

My advice is go with Grommash for crafting.  I was in the same boat as you with Warrior a year ago while I was trying to get to 500 ranked wins with it.  The ability to have a solid charge minion that probably isn't going anywhere because it's not busted or over played, but still exceptionally useful were my deciding factors.

I made Lunar Wellspring 2 mana now, so it heals an amount equal to a multiple of 3.  Spell Damage +1 makes it heal for 9, +2 makes it heal for 12, and so on.  I've also have two alternative wordings.  I'll go with the other card if it they aren't clear.

If you do go with Lunar Wellspring, I'd go with the first version since the wording is consistent with Arcane Blast.

I like Star Augur quite a bit. It's a strong upside, but with a fair trade-off that you've got to wait a turn to get it and it acts as a soft-Taunt.

  • Grasp of the Undying + Powder Keg = Bug?

    Hi,

I just build a deck with Powder Kegs and Grasp of the Undying.

I had 4 powder kegs and Grasp said it will drain *7*. It actually did:
I killed my own 2/2 unit with it and it gave me 7 life (to survive a Decimate (my opponent had no units)).

But after Grasp resolved, I still had all 4 powder kegs even though I already benefited from them.

    That can't be intendet, right?

  • Help optimize my deck

Win Condition: I think playing Riptide Rex into lvled up Ezreal should be already a won game, else there is no point in that combo. So lvling up [Hearthstone Card (Ezreal) Not Found] is the major condition.

Disadvantage of Win Condition: However both Twisted Fate and Ezreal need special care for their lvl up. Additionally TF is easy to remove and doesnt improve the Riptide Ezreal as we established it should be already a straight up win.

Secondary condition?: So Riptide Ezreal is hypothetically able to do between 2 and 27(+any amount of possible keg-bonus) damage to nexus, but I think in the likely szenarios we can consider between 12 and 16 vs Ionia or Shadow isles and between 14 and 16 against others. We reach that threshold probably with Warning Shots and Make it Rain, but the other spells we have will probably not be able to target nexus in a lot of cases since we need Ezreal lvl up, so we could use some help with that

Improvement for 2nd condition: I think the best way for this is throwing TF overboard. And instead include Fizz  and/or [Hearthstone Card (Miss Fortune) Not Found]. My money is on Fizz as he already benefits from the high spell density, whereas MFs lvl up condition will probably never be matched as we have very few units.

Vulnerability: We have very few units, no healing, need to get to round 8 at least while preparing Ezreal. So you would be advised to include some suvivability and or protection. Plaza Guardian for example could do a good job at that, since we have a lot of spells

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I know you said you actually dont want any changes to your deck. But I think optimization can only be achieved by a lot of testing and changes

I would start with this approach:

  • Assorted Buffs/Reworks

    Staff

Just a suggestion, maybe tag the original card in the text somewhere, so ppl can hover over it for quick reference ;-)

Or you can do like [picture of original] > [picture of suggested change], basically just put the original down somewhere so it is easy to see what was changed without needing to read the wall(s) of text. Nothing against reading that, but you get my point, i hope :) Anyway, keep this up!

  • Assorted Buffs/Reworks

Here's another batch based around making the Toss cards more fun and interactive

    Old Versions:

Dreg Dredgers Card Image Deadbloom Wanderer Card Image Jettison Card Image Sap Magic Card Image

    My Versions:

The purpose of these changes would not be to change the power level of Deep decks, but instead to make Toss conditional and interruptable by the opponent.

I think that you have a good and valid reason for making Elegon a Mech, but I worry that it won’t communicate itself well. Of course, you can just have the first line of the description be “according to the lore, Elegon is a Mech”, but not everyone will read the description. Probably the best solution would be to find art that shows Elegon as more obviously a Mech (if it exists) to avoid confusion. Maybe you could even look up “Cosmic Mechanical Dragon Fantasy Art” and see if you can find an image that looks like Elegon.

about Cosmic Breath, I agree that there is a lot of value in it being called a “Breath” and fitting in with the other “Breath cards”. I just made my suggestion because right now only 1 card has variable power based on the number of dragons in hand, and I felt like the idea was underexplored. Of course, maybe that kind of condition would work better on a different card.

Yeah I've decided to scrap the Mech idea and stick with the simple Dragon tag. I actually really liked your idea of the amount of damage being dependent on the amount of Dragons in your hand. I tweaked it a little bit because I didn't like the idea of having a dead spell in hand if you're not holding a Dragon. So I've (most likely) settled on what I have below, a base damage with a gain for each dragon in hand. Because of this, I still feel Elegon needs the "If you're holding a Dragon" requirement to help limit the danger of a neutral board clear getting abused.

I decided to bump the mana cost up. I'm debating if I should start the damage at 2 or 3. As it stands, with 1 Dragon in hand, it's a Neutral Flamestrike. I'm thinking it might need to start at 2 damage so it will require 2 Dragons in hand to reach Flamestrike status.

    Edit:

Just thought of another option I could go with Celestial Breath, making it damage all minions except Elegon so it isn't as major of a board swing.

My favorite deck includes Vi who is almost always a 2 for 1 or better.  I like the deck because it brings me back to mtg control decks where you remove all the threats and then play your win conditions to finish the game.  Hitting 5 spells with Corina also feels really good.

So, feedback has been mixed on my new design and seems some people like the old one more. I have re-tweaked both. Which do y'all prefer?

Gemina is now a 4/5. It was been pointed out that all copies effectively share a health pool as damaging one damages all of them. So, this is effectively a 6 mana 8/5, which is the same total as Boulderfist Ogre. Also, someone asked about how boardclears would work. I see them just functioning normally, as Gemina's effect would only adjust copies at the end of each damage phase. So, Hellfire would not immediately kill all copies, but one lucky Cinderstorm could.

Quanta is now a 5 mana 3/4 which only shuffles one copy. Having just two copies honestly fits the idea of quantum entanglement better, and limits the danger of it snowballing out of control.

  • Party Planning 101 - Card Design Competition Discussion Thread

I'm going to put my card here and ask for a bit more feedback before submitting it.

    FEEDBACK:

    Show Spoiler
@Xarkkal, As Linkblade mentioned, the downside won't be relevant often. You either play this when you want to trade away the entire board, or when you are going to kill your opponent. I really like the flavor, but I think you should change the card a bit to make it a bit more relevant. Instead of giving them raw stats, I think giving them keywords might be a bit better. Maybe give them Divine Shield and possibly Rush? Giving them Divine Shield encourages trading, and it also keeps the downside relevant. Rush allows you to play it on the same turn as other minions which makes the card much more usable, and it also fits with the flavor.

@CursedParrot, The card feels a bit clunky with the start of game and battlecry which both temporarily change your Hero Power. If you made the card so that it just said "Start of Game and Battlecry: Give 2 random Beasts, Dragons, and Murlocs in your deck +1/+1" then you still get the same effect but the card is a lot simpler. Aside from that the card looks great! I approve of anything to support menagerie decks.

@Inconspicuosaurus, I don't really like the randomness of it. I think if he were 10 mana and just summoned all of the warriors on your side of the field he wouldn't be overpowered.

@Leolph, Your card is interesting. I like the deck-building restriction, but I don't think the payoff is enough to justify not playing any Legendaries. Maybe if it let you discover 3 Legendaries instead of getting 3 random ones it would be better. Or maybe if it gave them all stat buffs. Also, I would try to find some art that fits with Hearthstones style a bit more. I believe the one you art you are using now is from WoW, but the quality isn't great.

@Meisterz39, The flavor is there, but the card is super weak. Maybe if he made a "grilled meat" (or something) token whenever he killed a minion and the token would restore Health to your Hero. Or maybe he could just create the token at the end of the turn.

Cg8889, I like Make a Toast better. Though I don't see why it has to buff all of the minions in your decks. I think if it was 1 mana and it just restored Health and drew a card it would be fine.

@Pokeniner, I don't like many aspects of this card. For one, I do agree with Echo and Inconspicuosaurus that shuffling 10 dead draws is a lot, and also the wording is a bit misleading. I also don't like the "if it is your birthday" bit. I understand that it isn't meant to be taken seriously, but I think the designs for this competition should be realistic. Maybe not as realistic as the other competitions, but still believable. If it just shuffled a single card into the opponents deck, and it also gave the opponent some incentive to play it, I think this card would be a lot better.

anchorm4n: I would say artwork 1 out of the three, but I would recommend finding artwork with the moon much more prominent.

Xarkkal: I like it, I would say flavorwise it definitely fits more into Mage than Shaman. I would also recommend changing the name to something like "Elegon, Mechanical Dragon" since otherwise I would think the Mech tag was a mistake.

CursedParrot: I think this Algalon is good, but maybe flip it to "awaken and recast them (targets enemies if possible)". I think it flows better this way, but if you don't it's not that big of a deal.

grumpymonk: Both cards are good (I prefer Star Auger) but both could use some wording changes. Lunar Wellspring should say "This spell gains triple bonus from Spell Damage" (and I think it should cost 2 mana) and Star Augur should say "draw your highest Cost playable card".

BloodMefist: Go with the (1) or less version.

Inconspicuosaurus: Maybe you could word it so it shuffles tokens into your deck and gives them any enchantments cast on Quanta.

Nirast: Does it affect your turn draw? If not maybe change it to "Draw effects" instead of "Card draw".

DestoyerR: Good effect and not too overpowered, I like it.

KANSAS: I still think healing friendly characters isn't as impressive as dealing damage to others, maybe double the healing on Obscuron.

TheHoax91: I'd go with the second Algalon out of the two.

A problem with the wording I see is that I don't know if it triggers Deathrattles or not. Even if it did though, it still seems too powerful as it's basically an Assassinate attached to a large body.

I don't have a favourite Champion, really, but this is one of my favourite decks I've played so far.

I haven't updated it since the new expansion, but I'm not sure how many new cards I'd want in the deck either. Maybe I should think about including Unyielding Spirit somewhere somehow...

    @Anchorm4n

Nice card! The only flaw I see in it is that the text looks a little unwieldy. Maybe you could change the First Spell to a 7 Mana Spell called Flow with the text “Fill your board with 2/1 Murlocs. (At the end of your turn, transform this into Ebb)”. Then Ebb would be an uncollectable Spell that reads “Deal 4 damage to all enemy minions. (At the end of your turn, this transforms into Flow”

With this change, the text would be shorter and it would feel more like casting 2 different Spells (plus you can name one Ebb and the other Flow)

Thanks for the feedback! I feel a lot better about Ebb and Flow and polished it up. Most importantly, I decided to submit both tokens so it becomes clear how the card's supposed to work. In your collection, the text would read "Fill your board with 2/1 Murlocs; or deal 4 damage to all enemy minions (Swaps each turn!)."

Which art do you like better for the second card? (Edit: I'll adjust the text… the swapping part doesn't need a new line and it looks way better the other way)

I would be grateful for more feedback and a statement from the mods if I'm in danger of getting DQed. The theme of the card is the moon influencing the tides and I sneaked in a moon in all the art, but I know it's a close call anyway. People seemed to like it, though.

Make sure to mention the lore in your submission. This being a Mech looks confusing if you're not familiar with it. I like the idea of this being Neutral, but it might be too strong in Hunter. They already have a strong Dragon deck and giving them AOE might too much. Cool card!

I must admit I haven't read other feedback for your card, but I'd like to suggest to alter the text a little bit: "After you cast 3 Spells, awaken and recast them" - that way it looks like Algalon (re)casts the spells after he has observed their first casting. Very flavorful, nice one!

Lunar Wellspring looks like a good idea. Suggestions for it: 1) I think it should cost more. With a highroll hero power you can heal 15 for 3 mana. I'd say 2 or 3 mana would be fine. 2) I don't like the art much. 3) You mentioned Arcane Blast yourself, why didn't you use its wording?
