  • Where do you get information about meta reports, deck winrates and so?

I used Hsreplay.net, I like it that it counts average match duration, frequency of each deck, and so on, but I recently realized free accounts only see the data of Bronze to Gold, which is quite uninteresting. I recently discovered metastats.net, but it's not clear where they get the data from, and some decks have few tracked games, so they are statistically not that reliable. And in reports like the ones from Tempostorm and Vicious Syndicate sometimes you read very different opinions, for example according to Vicious Syndicate Dragon Hunter is a strong deck with room to improve but according to Tempostorm is a Tier 3 deck, being generous, while Galakrond Priest is a Tier 1 deck according to Tempostorm, but Tier 3 according to VS... At least both seem to agree that Aggro Demon Hunter, Tempo/Enrage Warrior and Highlander Hunter are good decks.

So, how to bring order to the chaos? How do you inform yourself? Or do you trust only on your own feeling of the meta?

  • Stuck at Diamond 5. Like, really stuck.

Thanks again everybody! I don't really like Wild, I disenchant most legendaries when they rotate out (excepting the best ones), everything is so unpredictable... It's hard to play well if you can't figure out what cards your opponent is going to play!

I'm not yet sure I'm going to grind for legend this season, it will depend on how fast I reach Diamond. We will see!

  • What is your favorite region and why?

Piltover. You have potential to break the rules with that faction. They also have some cool lore, although if you do delve deeper into some stories, you can definitely see them as a more imperialist region due to massive society differences.

  • Hearthstone Grandmasters 2020 Season 1 - Week 7 Recap

I think Blizzard need to do more to shake things up during the GMs. The decks each week were identical with very little innovation (why risk things?) and it got very stale towards the end. Glad to see BoarControl win the group A for the EU and fingers crossed for Thijs to make it through the relegation playoffs. Disappointed to see Kolento go.

    Quote From Vincent3383

With stealing from the deck it should be like MtG where it says something like; Take a card at random from opponents deck, SHOW the card to them, then put it into your hand.

Yea i can agree on this one. And to add to it, maybe they can pilfer from the bottom, like toss.

Luckily there was no clear "taking it easy" lineups, apart from maybe Shaxy's Priest which almost saved SamuelTsao. The issue with tiebreakers is that they'll never feel completely fair, yet having to play extra matches between people with the same amount of wins doesn't sound like a good plan either.

I still think the system would need some sort of intermediate esports level, so that the relegated players wouldn't just drop on nothing (so it would feel less awful to go out with such small margins), and the Masters Tour highrollers wouldn't go straight to the elite tier competition. Although with 3 relegations and promotions each Season, you don't even need to highroll: reaching top 8 once is likely going to be good enough in many regions, and Americas might even get one GM that never reached top 8 in this Season's Tours. I'll discuss more of that situation in a future esports post.

I genuinely didn't know that frostee was tied...at tiebreakers...with dawn. He should be counting his lucky stars; so many things happened on that game with tyler.

I really hope blizzard just review this tiebreaker stuff so its doesnt feel like someone was sent down because they happen to get a lucky win off a high scoring opponent. Especially since those who are already safe might just happen to bring what seemed to be a subpar lineup.

  • What is your favorite region and why?

My fav region is Noxus, but not from the gameplay-wise. It just resonates with me with all the goings in there. Every one have an equal chance to go to the top, and there isn't much social disparity as far as i know. The Trifarix system make sure nobody is over the top.

If i live in Runeterra, i think i will be some sort of a Blacksmith in Noxus, cause i'm not a fighter type haha.

  • 1 Drop Crimson Card?

Nice idea, but I think you are underestimating how hard a 1 mana 1/3 with regen is to remove.

I would change it to 1/2 -> deal 1 to himself.

We seem to have most of the basic quests now, at least I'm just getting different variants of some that we already have. Arcane Apprentice also has other regions in store (as expected), I had Noxus & Demacia spells.

Pavel's tiebreaker situation was indeed brutal. He had an equal tiebreaker with Zhym before Rdu vs Kolento, but if Rdu won, it would bump Zhym's tiebreaker up and relegate Pavel, and if Kolento won, he would surpass both Pavel and Zhym and relegate them both. That's why he really needed Thijs to lose.

Another tight tiebreaker situation is still ongoing in APAC, as FroStee and DawN are tied at 5th and they have to play a separate match to determine who actually gets the 5th place, as it has a huge effect on the relegation bracket I talk about in the last spoiler.

  • Petition to buff Sir Finley of the Sands

    Quote From RavenSunHS

I can understand your fears, but is Murloc Paladin that threatening in Standard, considering other better aggressive decks like Zoolock or DH himself are allowed there? And considering Finley is a legendary?

    ...

Yeah I'm not really expecting murloc pally to be any worse than DH, but the especially snowball-y nature of murlocs adds to the feeling of not being able to do anything if they get a good start and yours is merely OK. At least with DH you know if you can't kill an early minion right now it will be no tougher to kill next turn, which is not a luxury you have with murlocs.

Again, it probably wouldn't be all that bad but I just don't like murlocs*.

    -----------------------------

    * That is not quite true. I liked the Rise of Shadows murlocs in shaman alongside Hagatha the Witch for some serious late-game value generation alongside a board fill. So it is not a grudge against murlocs so much as it is against the traditional curve-and-snowball decks that haven't changed their face since the game released because it mostly works off the back of neutral Classic cards.

That makes me wonder how much more interesting murlocs could be made if Coldlight Seer was HoF'd and the tribe could be taken in different directions each Standard cycle. I'm not suggesting it should be, just musing on it.

  • Hearthstone Grandmasters 2020 Season 1 - Week 7 Recap

Europe division B was pretty exciting, going on to tie breakers to eventually doom Pavel to joining Kolento with automatic relegation. Kinda harsh really, considering that they were virtually tied on points upwards to the very end.

  • Hearthstone Grandmasters 2020 Season 1 - Week 7 Recap

At the end of the day, the much hyped Spell Druid seems to be unable to hold its own against the field. Ramping is strong but its payoff seems to be unreliable.

And basically the old-style Control decks seem to be too limited at what they're supposed to be good at.

I wonder how next phases will develop.

  • How to Maximize Gold in Hearthstone?

    Quote From OmarComing

Make lots of friends, and pray to Yogg that they will share their 80g quests with you!

This is actually a great point: add people regardlessly and constantly delete those who have been gone over a month. Leave hearthstone on when you are not playing (eg watching tv/ doing chores homework excercise) and every once in a while an 80 gold invite will pop up. It works.

(I have no idea actually, I've just seen some streamers)

As for Highlander Murloc, I kinda agree, Consistency of Doubleton tends to be superior for Aggro tribes (they certainly are atm). Indeed, the Aggro Highlander deck I am trying in Wild just uses good standalone cards in order to generate Tempo and create large boards for finishers, and I think this is the way to go for Highlander until Murlocs in Paladin can go wide as fast as Silver Hand Recruits can (which is unlikely I think because it would be redundant).

  • 1 Drop Crimson Card?

Need - I was thinking about how hard it is for Crimson Decks to set up due to there being close to 0 1 drop units for Crimson Decks, the only viable options are unscarred reaver and plucky poro, neither of which belong to noxus, with the latest update all noxus 1 drops are left with 1hp I believe. That leaves Crimson decks in a weird position where any viable option sacrifices late game value, mainly due to Noxus running with very very little hand replacement or card draw, trifarian assessor, and crimson curator being the only way noxus has to refill their hand... That being said I feel that the Crimson Cult could use a 1 drop, useful to the cause.

    Crimson Flagellant

    1 cost - regeneration

    Red Lashing (play skill)

play - deal 2 (1) damage to me and 1 to a unit (not nexus)

    1dmg               3hp   (2hp)

Balancing - I feel like this is a good trade off, it doesn’t replace the value of blade’s edge, but it creates a value of its own instead, one that doesn’t threaten balance, but does allow crimson decks to start building an early game without requiring crimson disciple to be in your starting hand, it’s also decently counter-able, as a play skill it gives the victim time to respond, similar to black powder bomb (I really hate that black powder bomb isn’t instant, but balance is important) it isn’t impossible to defend against. Note that the skill says and, not then, so this separates the value of the skill into 2 connected instances, if the skill is denied it stops 2(1) damage to the Flagellant, which could be positive, or negative depending on your circumstances, on the other hand there are ways to meditate value on the victims side, any positive hp boosts will nullify the effects.

Synergy - This card synergies very well with crimson decks especially as it was intended, since it is a crimson card it can be created by the crimson curator, however, I do recognize that a 1/3 with regen isn’t especially useful in this game, which is why I wanted to push the 1 damage to A UNIT, not an enemy unit, so it can be used to reactivate crimson curator for a different card. However this card does have positive synergy with other cards and decks aswell, it works kind of like a worse 1 cost noxious fervor, but it guarantees value so long as the Flagellant survives till the end of the round, that being said, this card synergies well with Vlad, bc it starts his level up requirement with at least 1 surviving unit, it synergies with Swain, bc it starts his level up too with 3 damage, It also can be used to activate other cards that require units be pre damaged, like Aurok, Flock, and Guillotine, I don’t think this works with gp very well tho, similar to black powder bomb it risks killing a unit rather than damage, but for freljord it would be able to activate scar cards, reaver and warmother would be if it a great deal from a low cost unit that could activate their requirements, an early game activated reaver would be a great help to freljord scar decks that frankly don’t see much play.

Wrap up - In conclusion, this card would be a viable 1 cost starting card for noxus decks like Vlad and Swain, especially crimson decks that desperately lack early game options. The card has value with some planning necessary, and offers an activatee and an activator for the crimson cult and alike. It also fills out some level up requirements, And gives late game value, something that is rather lacking in many 1 drop units, pretty much any poro that aren’t in poro decks, Any 1 cost unit with 1 health or below 3 damage. BUT most of all CRIMSON FLAGELLANT fills a void in noxus, the need for early game starters with more than a 1 time use (Ahem, legion sabatour, Ahem), and it finally gives Crimson decks a starting card that isn’t just crimson disciple again.

    thanks!

  • Petition to buff Sir Finley of the Sands

Well, the last time I found murloc-heavy decks interesting was during GvG, so I am a bit biased against buffs to murloc decks.

Attempting to overlook that bias, I suppose the OG Sir Finley Mrrgglton never caused murloc decks to sky-rocket, though at the time murloc paladin was based on Anyfin Can Happen BS which didn't want a 1/3 in the pool. Vilefin Inquisitor was much the same.

I guess the difference right now is that murloc paladin is a by-the-numbers play-murlocs-on-curve-and-snowball deck, which already has 3 great murlocs to play on turn 1 (Imprisoned Sungill, Murmy and Murloc Tidecaller) so adding a plain 1-mana 1/3 might risk pushing things over the edge. I personally don't want that, but I accept that is just one person's opinion on a subjective matter.

As for making a singleton murloc deck, I don't think that would be consistently snowball-y enough for it to make a huge difference if he costs 1 or 2, especially in Standard. It is an extra nudge towards viability I suppose, though as is already clear I would not rejoice if it made it.

  • Hearthstone's June Card Back, Mystic Forest, Has Arrived!

wonderful! right to my spell Druid

  • What to craft

Face Hunter shouldn't run Zixor so it's mostly about which deck you enjoy more, highlander hunter or aggro demon hunter.

Both cards kind of fill the same role where they're good to have and will improve either deck, but not exactly mandatory.
