  • Year of the Dragon Celebration Bundle - 45 Card Packs for $30, Includes the Special Year of the Dragon Packs

    OK found my answer:

The special "Year of the Dragon Packs" was previously available in Feb 2020 under the name of "Dragon Masters Bundle". In those packs 25 of this special pack was included. And it seems I've bought it by looking at my transaction history :)

However, this bundle includes 15 packs which makes it total of 40 (25+15). Which is also equal to a classic pity timer. If I have found a legendary only in the first 10 packs and not found another one in the previous packs, my chance to find a legendary seems to be around 50% :)

I think I'm gonna buy the bundle since the cards are still in the standard mode..

    EDIT:
OK, I've bought the bundle and found only 1 legendary :( However, it was in the "Year of the Dragon Packs" :) On the other hand, I've found 10 epics which I have been missing. I wish I'd found a least one more legendary..
  • New Shadow Isles Champion - Maokai

The strength of this card is going to largely depend on Karma.  If Karma continues to dominate control archetypes and Riot doesn't change any of her interactions, Malokai is going to be DOA: control players are just going to wait until after the deck obliteration, then drop an L2 Karma and Karma's Insight of Ages multiple Karmas back into their deck.  Or, you know, just beat the Malokai player before they level, because: Karma.  So as long as Karma is the dominate control champion and that interaction remains, Malokai is going to be too niche to bother with.  I'll hedge in my rating, though, because I can't believe Riot would allow a new champion to be so entirely shutdown by a core card--I predict there will be either change that interaction (or possibly buff Malokai's effect so it also prevents any future card shuffles), or Karma is just going to get otherwise nerfed such that she's not as appealing.

New idea! Yes, I know there was an Arena card called Smoke Bomb, but this was the best name I had at the time lmao.

  • New Piltover & Zaun Champion - Vi

I'm of 2 minds on this card.  The obvious comparison is Thresh: they have similar stat lines, and Thresh is strong enough to include in many decks.  However Thresh can be relatively easy to level up, and most Thresh decks get a huge power spike if he's able to pull a free Lux / Kalista / Tryn / Anivia.  I think Vi is going to be much more difficult to level--not only does she need to increase her attack +8, but she also needs to successfully strike and survive--and the 5 free damage is nice-but-not-game-closing.  That 10 attack is just so awkward without having barrier, quick attack, and/or overwhelm, and I think its going to be too clunky to try to combo those tags to Vi.

I see a handful of players trying to build memey decks that try (and usually fail) to use her as a win condition, and I see other players just using Vi as a 5 mana challenger and rarely attempt to level her up (i.e., comparable to how most players are currently using Draven).

Demon Hunter likely brought in a lot of new or returning players, who would've probably bought the most recent packs already. This lets them play catch-up a lot easier.

I don't think these bundles are for us, is all. I'm certain there's a market for it, since Blizzard does this sort of bundle every expansion.

How does one make sure that your twitch is linked to your hs account? Can anyone write a dummy guide?

  • New Piltover & Zaun Spell - Gotcha!

Very solid card--it won't be for every deck, but it will get a lot of play.  Basically its a Get Excited! except instead of discarding it costs -1 mana the turn you draw it / +1 mana every other turn and it can't go face.  That last point will be a deal-breaker for some burn decks, but more control-y/midrange-y decks will gladly take it as an cost-effective option to clear out Draven, Jinx, Kalista, Karma, Heimer, Ashe, Ezreal, etc.

  • New Noxus Card - Imperial Demolitionist

Agreed--this card is going to see a lot of play in a lot of decks:

    • The 2 mana 2/3 stat line is solid
    • She can chip in 2 nexus damage on-demand which will appeal to aggro/burn decks
    • The aforementioned damage will progress Sejuani and Swain
    • She's deals self-damage which activates Noxus crimson units, Frejlord battlescar units, Vlad, and Braum
  • Why do people play Tier 1 decks in casual mode?

The problem as I see it is the obvious one: losing just isn't fun, so people gravitate to decks that hedge their bets. The only two games I've played avidly for the last 5 years have been HS and LoL. One is VERY good at keeping things fresh, the other.. is showing signs of getting there. For those that don't know, League of Legends is forever in fluctuation- A champion that is S tier could get dropped to a far lower one in a matter of weeks; and back to S again with some patience.

My sacred wish for HS is to adopt that model and I would be willing to even give up dust refunds to have nerfs and buffs occur on a regular basis. There's a reason pencils usually come with erasers and they ought to be exercised.

One solution to the problem could be adding a number of rotated cards to evergreen sets, the notion being that these cards would be included into more decks and therefor could be safely nerfed should one class become a problem. There wouldn't be a valid grievance because a card would be just as likely to be de-nerfed the next expansion if the class is suffering.

It's radical thinking for sure.. but I for one would love to see the game in never-ending flux where they adjust a cost here and a stat there to try to take the win% down of overachieving decks. The only thing stopping them as I see it is stubbornness or the dust economy.

Opening the YOD packs last would be better, I think, since you'd get more out of the duplicate protection that way.

  • Why do people play Tier 1 decks in casual mode?

Some players like grinding up ladder with one specific deck and play other decks in casual where there isnt any pressure to win. Doesnt have to matter if its tier 1 or not, if you're not comfortable with the deck and you dont want to lose stars, you play in casual.

I think most decks are and should be created with the meta in mind. If I'm building some meme deck, first thing to think about is if it even has a decent chance against what everybody else is playing at the moment.

I was joking there but it was probably misleading :)  Passively lurking is what I always do too :)

With the star system I don't get it either, like who cares if you lose a game, when every win gives you 5+ stars lol

  • Year of the Dragon Celebration Bundle - 45 Card Packs for $30, Includes the Special Year of the Dragon Packs

I'm referring to the special "the year of the dragon packs" not the packs of the year of the dragon. It is a special pack which has its own pity timer and includes cards from every expansion from the year of the dragon..

    Only one day, huh?

  • Regions current situation

I made sure to put the word Main between quotations to draw attention toward that part of the problem.

you can't say Kinkou elusives is a Freljord deck when you are running 6 support freljord cards and 34 ionia :) it's the same as saying bannerman deck is ionia when there is only 1/2 copies of deny and 38 demacia's cards.

The reason why i placed Ionia 3rd and not first is again, it is mostly played as a support region and not the main one, in your examples it is X other region main champion + karma support (EZ, Heimer, Lux...) and i think that's a problem.

Of course you will always see all kind of decks played in ranked, but you will see some of them pop up WAY more often then others because of how efficient their "answers" are in comparison to the less represented regions.

Is shuffle possible in Mean Streets, or should it be later? Is Fume Trap too strong? (And where do you find your awesome art?!)

I would strongly against Getaway Wagon (by the way, you misspelled "wagon"). Secrets for Rogue did not exist yet in MSoG, and neither did the Shadow token. It would be much better reflavored and put into AoO.

Fume Trap is better, although Dormant should be keyworded and I also suggest you use different art for it. 3 turns might also be too much.

It is indeed the second time, these packs are available.

I got it just because I like opening up packs.  I probably got 5 or so legendary and most of them ones I already had golden copies of so when the time comes I can get a decent amount of dust.
