I wouldn't count this card yet, I mean Dyn-o-matic was used a lot for minion removal despite not have the rush effect by Dr boom Hero. Dealing with board might be more important than going face after all.
Stat wise for it's might not look good but I think it will see played in Certain decks.
I agree with shuckie up there that Kayn Sunfury is probably overrated. Its best use is against priest and druid. In most cases, you can accomplish the same thing with Maiev Shadowsong. That's not to say its a bad card and will never see play, I'm just thinking of super safe options assuming youre crafting day 1.
I think Kayn is an auto include just because his stat value. 4-mana 3/5 with charge that goes through taunts is just a great minion even if you don't use him for lethal. You can just use him to value trade through taunts or pick off a specific minion.
There's absolutely no reason not to craft him if one plans to play any DH decks
I will probably craft the new DH cards (Kayn Sunfury & Metamorphosis) if I dont get them and then, not too sure. I am on the minority that thinks Maiev Shadowsong is going to be underwhelming so not going for her until the meta settles down and I am proved wrong.
Edit: ALMOST FORGOT Murgur Murgurgle I totally love playing murlocs as they are pretty fun for me and have been since the game launched, so probably gonna craft it if I dont get it
I think there's no point in going too hard on the copying, the hero power should be enough.
First of all you need to take out Al'ar because even in this deck he's complete garbage.
Then you're gonna need Licensed Adventurer so you can put out big stuff earlier.
Scrapyard Colossus is pointless because you can't actually copy him the same turn you play him.
Additionally you have no comeback mechanics so add Libram of justice.
Teron Gorefiend might be too greedy, but I have no idea how good he is in practice. I would probably add at least one Blessing of Wisdom to make sure you have enough cards.
The problem with Quest Pally is that there aren'T really a lot of minions worth copying, but I see where you're going with it.
I can say I'll be crafting Akama and Shadowjeweler Hanar if I don't pull them from packs - this "Sneaky" Rogue archetype with Stealth/Secrets looks like it will be super fun, even if not overly competitive. I'm on the fence about maybe also crafting Beastmaster Leoroxx and/or Zixor, Apex Predator - Midrange Beast Hunter worked very well for me in the current year. Not sure how good it will be without the guaranteed, solid healing from Vicious Scalehide + Dire Frenzy + Master's Call combo, so maybe those are "Day 30" crafts?
I can say I will NOT be crafting either Paladin legendary. I Day 1 crafted both Sir Finley of the Sands since I was so sure Highlander Paladin was going to be OP, and then did the same with Dragonrider Talritha because obviously Dragon Paladin was going to be unbeatable... :/ So despite my thinking Pure Paladin might be good this expansion, I'll leave it RNGesus if I get Lady Liadrin or not.
I am loving the new system - because 1) it's making the climb less of a grind, 2) the rewards are actually now rewarding enough to make the effort mean something, and 3) most importantly (to me) since it's "more forgiving" I'm seeing so many different, not hyper-refined-tier-1 decks throughout the climb.
The main reason I never played the ladder on the old system was I get so tired of facing the exact same 2 or 3 decks over and over and over, so Casual (GENERALLY) had greater variety and people willing to play fun or interesting decks. At least in the first week I'm not seeing that anymore, even as I get to the "more serious" leagues i.e. played a person yesterday on Gold 2 with a funky High Priestess Jeklik disco/buff deck featuring Deathwing. That's what I like to see and I am here for it.
If you're looking for safe crafts, craft the powerful legendaries in the DoD expansion.
As far as I'm concerned, though, the right things to craft on day 1 are the things you think you'll have the most fun with. I crafted Lyra the Sunshard on day 1 of Un'Goro, despite all the hate for the card at launch, and had a blast with it. (Eventually she did see some play in more serious Priest decks.)
This time around, I think the legendaries I'm most excited for are Akama and Shadowjeweler Hanar - they seem to support some pretty fun archetypes for Rogue - and maybe Teron Gorefiend, since he seems like he'll make some pretty silly things happen with Primes and other deathrattles (and probably some less fun things happen with Toxic Reinforcements). And, obviously, crafting the DH legendaries makes sense simply because the class is new and exciting.
In no way is Raza priest that oppressive. That deck shouldn't get any hate. Give the hate to the Quest Mage and Secret Mage players, thanks
This isn't a salt thread it is an "asking people who played against the deck before what worked" thread. And if you read my post I state 6 out of 7 matches were that one deck - to me that's oppressive but you may have a different opinion.
That's wild for you. Its horribly unbalanced, and therefore despite the many, many variety of decks that could exist in wild its all completely outclassed by the few tier 1 decks around.
If you're looking to have some fun, just stick around the lower tiers.
To counter raza priest, there's no many ways to tech against it since they can easily remove bombs and albatrosses from their decks with Wyrmrest Purifier. The best way is to simply aggro them hard before they can get their ball rolling. OTK and aggro decks tend to do very well against Raza priest.
Another novel strategy is to allow them to assemble their combo, then remove their hero power with Grizzled Wizard+Sir Finley. At that point, all they have is a bunch of useless cards, Mind Blast and Kazakus. Survive that and youre in.
Thanks for these suggestions - I hadn't thought of Grizzled Wizard!
But on the "just stick around lower tiers" that's not really possible anymore since the ladder is now based on MMR (unless I'm misunderstanding something)? As i said all of those matches were at Bronze 10 i.e. literally the lowest tier.
My only day 1 craft is going to be Maiev, I agree with others that's a very flexible card and a safe craft. Historically, I've crafted 1 good and 1 bad legendaries day 1: Kronx Dragonhoof and... Nozdormu the Timeless in Descent of Dragons, Heistbaron Togwaggle and Tak Nozwhisker in Rise of Shadows... I'm going to wait for the meta to define a bit before crafting any other legendary other than Maiev.
I thought Legends of Runeterra was a pretty fun game for a few weeks, with a good amount of interaction and interesting mechanics. But when they nerfed several of the cards that I had crafted, my deck became unplayable, and there isn't any kind of dust or wildcard refund, so I felt like the only remedy would have been to spend money and make a new deck. I'm a fan of aggressive balance changes, but without any compensation, it feels like you're buying/crafting cards that could potentially be useless in a couple of weeks, which is a really bad thing.
A few people have said that Blizzard should consider adding more stars for higher leagues. I think that point of view shows a bit of "high ranking" blinders. When you're a player who is finding that they're easily climbing the ladder all the way to the top, it's tempting to think that the ladder climb isn't hard enough, and that they should add more stars to create larger gaps in the upper leagues and make players work harder as they get higher up.
I think this is anathema to what they're trying to do with the ladder. The reason so many people hated the old ranking system is because it often felt like the ladder tested your amount of free time more than your skill. Taking myself as an example, I'm someone who has hit Legend in the past, but who rarely had enough time to play back up to Legend rank in any given season because of how long it took to go from Rank 5 to Legend. (It doesn't help that I prefer slower, grindier decks...) And that sense of stagnation on the ladder was amplified if, in a given month, I simply had very little time to play. I'd just end up lower than normal at the start of the next season, stuck wasting my limited play time at lower ranks.
I think the big question to me is "if you're a highly skilled and/or competitive player, why do you even care about the lower leagues?" In this new system, you're going to get to Legend fairly quickly and then your rank will simply be your MMR (which is ultimately a much more precise way to measure your ranking anyway). If you're not at that level yet, the ladder will provide you with an opportunity to make progress month over month until you reach that level.
Taking the 2019 ranked data as a reference, that means something like 6% or 7% of players are going to skyrocket to the top and start using MMR as their benchmark, and the rest are going to have rewarding laddering experiences for the first time in a long time. The ~93% bulk of players are really who the various intermediate leagues were made for.
Just here to see your reasoning after seeing the title but well, your reasoning is poorer than your statement.
Good luck on your card game life. With this consideration skills, it won't take much time for you to stop playing.
He (OP) may be wrong, and he is in this instance about a lot of things, but comments like these are COMPLETELY unnecessary. These forums do not need vitriolic and hostile comments to people, even players who make asinine assumptions about card balance.
