  • Should The Coin be a dead element?

Certain decks can take advantage of going second because of tempo effects like Combo or similar.

To be honest though, outside of these cases The Coin may even not be enough to even the scales. Sometimes going first gives you so much initiative that not even an Innervate can turn the tables.

  • Our Thoughts on Hearthstone's Ashes of Outland Neutral Cards (Part 1)

Overconfident Orc's joke is one of the best of this expansion's reviews!

  • Should The Coin be a dead element?

Certain decks and class work better with the coin, some don't. Aggro decks in particular enjoy massive advantages going first.

This have been argued for ages, but I think the last time I heard of any form of statistic from blizzard was that going first have a 1% advantage in terms of win rate. Since there's no way to balance the advantage afforded to the ones going first (minion attack initiative), I suppose its only fair that the advantages of the coin provides shouldnt be taken away neither.

  • Should The Coin be a dead element?

Just to point out that despite The Coin and the extra card, who goes second is still at disadvantage, in average (stats-wise).

However, some decks are indeed at huge advantage having an extra free spell, namely Wild Quest Mage or Kael decks.

All in all, I believe they prefer to keep it as it is, because otherwise average stats would be even more unfavourable against who goes 2nd.

From my Wild point of view, having a soft nerf against Wild Quest Mage would still be risible against the other t1 (or tgod) decks of the meta.

    Pro

I'll go with a highlander build for the first games because that way I can test a maximum number of cards and see what works.

  • Should The Coin be a dead element?

Players who go second still lose more than players that go first.

    Even in rogue..

Having 1 less mana each turn and if both play a minion at the same time, the one who gone first is able to attack first.

  • Tomorrow, April 1, Hearthstone's Ranked Play Gets an Overhaul - Leagues, Stars, and Rewards Explained

The 11 Bonus Stars might be a bug, but who you are matched with is based on your  MMR not Rank.

Also 1000 win portraits show in no way how good  a player is. It just shows that he played really really much!

  • Unexpected Combos

I don't know if it counts as unexpected, but I love me my (level 2) Karma + Winter's Breath. It's a literal game changer when you can pull it off.

  • Our Thoughts on Hearthstone's Ashes of Outland Warlock Cards

I think the best thing about all these AoO reviews is the amount of effort the OoC moderators put in from the start. Every review starts with a very creative joke that makes me laugh. Keep up the good work guys!

  • Should The Coin be a dead element?

The coin is there to counter the disadvantage of going second. However in it's current state it is not an equalizer, but an (unfair) advantage for the player who goes second.

My proposal is to have the coin you get from going second ONLY give you one mana crystal. It shouldn't count as a spell /  card and will not work as a combo enabler.

Coins generated later in the game can work as normal.

    What do you think?

  • Demonic Obsession - Card Design Competition Discussion Thread

    Pro

Good luck to the finalists! My favourite is the Paladin card which eats your Silver Hand Recruits. I like the effect of the thief priest card even better, but I had to deduce some points for the card text, which made me a little sad. Such a great idea!

  • The new ladder system

    Pro

After the first few days I must say I really like the new system. Each single game feels harder then on the old ladder and I think I lose more games because of it. But then the star multiplier kicks in and that just makes up for all of it. So my personal experience is that the new system encourages me to play more. I reached diamond 3 yesterday, which is the second highest I ever achieved in wild and might be an indicator for the climb being a bit too easy. But then I had no multiplier from diamond 5 onwards so maybe it's just fine.

  • How to beat unnerfed Highlander Priest?

In no way is Raza priest that oppressive. That deck shouldn't get any hate. Give the hate to the Quest Mage and Secret Mage players, thanks

  • How to beat unnerfed Highlander Priest?

Any mage deck (bar Reno-galaxy mage)

    Mech hunter

    Pirate warrior

Possibly odd rogue though I'm not too sure about that one. Same goes for mech paladin

Anything that can gain tons of armor (odd warrior, druids...)

  • Gen Greymane won't make it 0, it won't change anything.

  • DMH looks much cooler though but ok, changed it lol

  • Bug on attack?

Its intended, otherwise a player could make low mana high attack allies unblockable if he has enough spells.

Example: I have 5/1 minion and my opponent has 3 spiders 1/1.
I attack. He blocks with a 1/1 spider. Now if i play any 1 damage spell and kill his spider, should he take 5 damage to the nexus?

This would be extremely broken, because as long as i have spells, i can keep killing only the designated blocker and he would always take 5 damage every turn, no matter how many followers he has.

The reason why Overwhelm units hit nexus even when the blocker is already gone, is to prevent the defender from avoiding excess damage by killing his own blockers.

  • Our Thoughts on Hearthstone's Ashes of Outland Warrior Cards

Bladestorm frustrates me. It's such a flavorful idea - Defile is my favorite Warlock card, and whirlwind effects are my favorite Warrior gimmick - but it just doesn't work. (Sorry, Todd Howard) As you say, Bladestorm almost never clears the whole board. It only works against a board of equal health minions or a single minion. None of them can be deathrattles, either; this card can't deal with deathrattles. It just can't! Mecharoo laughs at Bladestorm just like Evasive Chimaera laughs at Deathwing, Mad Aspect.

  • Favorite Cards by Rarity

    Basic - Goldshire Footman. :D

Common - Silver Hand Regent. Everyone can be paladin for a day! And the card art is amazing.

Rare - Zandalari Templar. I like the golden animation

Epic - Fal'dorei Strider. Best Rogue card ever printed to me!

Legendary - Patches the Pirate because he is so cool! Too bad he is longer in charge ;(

  • Favorite Cards by Rarity

Basic : Animal Companion. Forgot about basic LOL

Common : Time Out!, better than DH's Blur because it protects you even on enemy turn.

    Rare : Defile

    Epic : Ice Block

    Legendary : Zilliax

basically, if hero immunity get printed more, I would definitely chose that.

  • Ruination is broken and can't be fixed.

Title: "Ruination is broken and can't be fixed"
Guess you have all figured out then, not sure what this topic is supposed to accomplish?

My solution is quite simple: Build a deck with Ruination, go ranked and see how far you can go.
