Two of my initial ideas. Aethas Sunreaver serves as a powerful value tool for Control decks, but comes at the cost of being quite slow and not immediately impacting the board. EVIL Propagandist looks to give some 'oomph' to self-damage and Lackey strategies for Warlock, which were a bit lacking at the time.

One inspired by Joust mechanic in The Grand Tournament

Eat is the usual ‘remove from game and gain its stats’. Original Mutanus is 7 mana but I made this one cheaper to make it less powerful.

  • Battlegrounds is Receiving 17 Balance Changes in This Week's Game Update

Quillboars need Gemsplitter back. This card was so much better than Bristlemane Scrapsmith. They deleted good build and one of the reasons to play George with it.

  • Whose got the most Achievement Points! Bragging Rights right here!

I have finally reached the 40000 points milestone today, so I wanted to share this achievement with you as an update.

The total amount of achievable points has increased to 46184 points, which means I am now at 87% (rounded up).

If I keep this progression up, I will likely max out at around 90%, because I do not play all Hearthstone game modes.

  • Hearthstone is Getting 18 Card Buffs and 7 Card Nerfs in This Week's Balance Update

Well, we knew it was coming and let's be real its been coming a long way back.

So there's no reason to discuss the nerfs and buffs because there isn't any revealed, so let's have a discussion on how the classes changed would fare in a hypothetical new meta.

    - Rogue will go back to thief, and nearly 100% all in on Queen Azshara or bust. Probably Wildpaw Gnoll would get a 1-2 mana nerf because of Potion Belt, which to be fair will completely ruin the card, but Im pretty sure we'll never see Maestra of the Masquerade ever again. Sad to see we wont get the dust from that card.

Can't see any other rogue archetype. There's a chance someone will work draka rogue back in some capacity, along with cards like Bonelord Frostwhisper, who I think works the best in rogue.

    - Spell dhunter will still be good despite all this nerfs because what happens is simply that quest dhunter dont get to scam wins out of nowhere anymore.

Can't see outcast dhunter be anywhere near tier 2 unless Vengeful Walloper gets a massive change, like getting charge etc. Outcast is simply a poor mechanic and without easy ways to cheapen cards like skull it'll never be good.

    - Warrior, in my opinion, would probably stay a poor class unless team5 goes completely ham on the changes. But admitably there's some really spicy choices here, like nellie (which was the best colossal minion on launch and is currently a joke card) and remornia. The main problem remains; warrior can't draw, and is immensely slower than most decks out there. Thori'belore should be buffed to revive for every fire spell in my opinion. Its not even strictly that great and is still countered by silences.

A chance we'll see an archetype that mirrors what bless priest is doing.

    - Undead shadow priest may actually be good. Its not a bad deck, but gets destroyed in the current meta because it can never fight back even one Wildpaw Gnoll on 2. Have a feeling that Haunting Nightmare will be a meta defining card for priest.

Surprised that Sister Svalna isn't getting changed. That deck with Radiant Elemental is scary when it works. Very tilting deck to be certain

    - Undead druid will never ever work unless team5 completely overhauls or introduces so many undead cards in the miniset that its impossible to fail.

    - Paladin would be fine even without any buffs. But Timewarden is presently so slow and very hard to use properly. Chances are good it gets taunt, or becomes a 3 mana card.

    - Hope team5 nails mage right because I dont like the direction of their buffs. Casino mage should never ever be allowed to be more than a tier 3 deck

    - Unholy DK changes are funny because the deck is perfectly fine in wild even without many actual wild cards in it. All it takes is a cheap and consistent way to get corpses early on. I think this is one archetype that will benefit from new cards not buffs.

Battlefield Necromancer would probably spawn a 1/2 that gives a corpse back when it dies. Or it gets reduced to 1 rune, which is fine. Not sure what they intend to do with Unholy Frenzy however. 2 mana, likely.

    - Hunter will remain perfectly where it is. The change to spitter probably wont change much, unless its like 5 mana. Probably nerfed to 4 mana or capped damage (not likely, but its an option). The real problem here is how easily spitter scam wins with brann. Take brann off and its a perfectly reasonable card at 3.

    - And finally warlock. Okay, Im afraid. Because none of the nerfs are hitting minelock, and I still think that deck scam wins out of nowhere. Probably a good time to remind team5 that Runed Mithril Rod is a card that should never have existed.

Wont be surprised to see warlock be tier 1 until the miniset.

One last comment. That Astalor Bloodsworn nerf may not actually reduce its play rate. I think the first and second forms are probably the most impactful and the final form is only ever useful (or abused) in rogue and druid. But I can see why they nerfed it the way they did. Its basically denathrius in another form.

Holy shit this competition is moving incredibly slow. If no one gives feedback soon then nothing will ever get done, so I guess it's up to me.

    Linkblade91

I like Twilight Shepherd as a way to communicate what a C'Thun Death Knight could be. I think the effect of spending Corpses to do this allows the card to feel Death Knight-y, and provides a potentially powerful way to buff C'Thun that wouldn't be too broken due to requiring a resource.

Monica Dreadguard is a fine card. My main criticism about the card though is that it generates Fel spells, yet the art seems very fire-oriented, so there's a bit of a disconnect there.

    Wailor

First off, your advice is incredibly good and everyone in this thread should take it if they're having trouble.

As for your card itself, I like the idea of making a Neutral Quest and I wouldn't be opposed to Team 5 giving us a Neutral Quest, Questline, or even a hero card in an expansion fairly soon. We already have a Neutral Legendary weapon ala Sphere of Sapience, so really, anything can happen. I do like that it ties into Un'Goro's other keyword and I do think choosing different Adaptations is more creative than just "Play 4 Adapt cards" or something like that.

I can definitely see why you think Apexus is weak. My first comparison point is The Mistcaller since Flaming Claws, Rocky Carapace, or Volcanic Might effectively makes it a 5 mana 8/8 Mistcaller that requires a Quest to complete. At the same time though, there are definitely some Adaptations that could be a bit on the problematic side. I could see Crackling Shield, Lightning Speed, or Shrouding Mist potentially being annoying even they aren't necessarily overpowered. This isn't really your fault though since Adapt in general is just simply not very well balanced across all of its options. Having all summoned minions gain the Adaptation would be a good route, but then Living Spores might get in the way.

Overall I'd say it's a good card. Adapt effects like this are hard to work with and you did the best you could given that. It is probably a bit weak, but I don't really think it can be any stronger before it becomes unfun.

    BasilAnguis

You won't be able to use Unidentified Mummy since the maximum tokens you can submit on a card is 3. In general, most cards don't need more than that, but I can see why think could potentially be problematic. Should we increase the number of tokens on future comps to 4? The artwork of the base form is also just a real-life picture, and that's definitely going to get penalized from people out the wazoo.

The Worgen Curse is a fine card. I think I like that one better.

And also remember to use the mini-set watermarks found in the custom watermark option.

    Cydonianknight
I like the idea on paper, but I don't like how the extra effect sort of quickly becomes obsolete once you play two of them. Once you get a string of 1 mana 3/2s, you just… don't get anything else after that.

    Neoguli

If you wanted people to also count Dragonbane Ritual from the previous comp, then it would've been a good idea to post the card again here.

I definitely like Suffocating Lullaby the best out of the other two. I don't like Flameguard Protector that much since Permanent Overload is basically just losing a Mana Crystal and I don't think the effect can be explored since the downside can easily be negated by just using something like Overdraft.

  • Hearthstone is Getting 18 Card Buffs and 7 Card Nerfs in This Week's Balance Update

IMO, if the token becomes a 2/2 it is completely fine. The Risen Ghouls of Army of the Dead are 2/2 as well. The Risen Footman just has Taunt instead of Rush.

However, if they are going to touch the mana cost of Battlefield Necromancer, I will flip a small table because it would no longer fit in my Even Unholy Death Knight deck in Wild.

  • Battlegrounds is Receiving 17 Balance Changes in This Week's Game Update

Without scaling Pufferquil doesn't do much even when supported. It gets popped by the Divine Shield minion its set against and/or ends up overhwlemed by recursion, poison or no. It probably needs a Heatlh boost when it gets spellcrafted or blood gem'd.

  • Hearthstone is Getting 18 Card Buffs and 7 Card Nerfs in This Week's Balance Update

The nerfs can be described with the word “obviously” typed over and over, but one notes that Wildpaw Gnoll is so egregiously Blizzard’s own fault that it’s not even funny. As for buffs:

Battlefield Necromancer and Boneguard Commander are both burdened with the same problem: Blizzard was too afraid of Unholy being strong (which seems foolish — board-based build-up decks are always weaker than other concepts in modern Hearthstone — but maybe I missed something) so their summoned minions don’t contribute Corpses. This is even more hilariously bad because Blood has Soulstealer which, alongside normal play, often gives it better Corpse generation than Unholy.

In that vein, Unholy Frenzy getting a buff sounds very good indeed. If you pair a cheaper Unholy Frenzy with a rush minion you’re getting some pretty good early board control.

Vengeful Walloper will not save minion-based DH. The nerfs might. Here’s hoping.

I rarely give Blizzard praise — I rarely have cause to — but the list of buffs looks very good. I especially like how they’re hitting multiple cards in a package. Priest Undead is getting a shot in the arm spread over three cards and Dar'Khan Drathir is getting its inevitable teammate Infantry Reanimator buffed. That’s far, far better than their previous trend of doing few buffs and usually for single cards in an archetype. That’s a really good sign.

I question whether or not minion DH and Dragon Pally are getting enough bennies for exactly that reason, though. Still, good trend.

I’m hoping that nu-Asvedon, the Grandshield gives you a copy of the spell that costs zero and that leaves your hand at the end of the turn. It won’t, but I’m wishing it.

  • Hearthstone is Getting 18 Card Buffs and 7 Card Nerfs in This Week's Balance Update

All the nerfs feel reasonable. Glacial Advance being targetted presumably to pre-emptively keep Frost DK from just being the next dominant burn deck in line, which is fine.

Buffs looks interesting and somewhat confusing.

Like...I know Unholy Frenzy is a bad card, but I find it hard to imagine as being any better even at 2 or 1-mana. Battlefield Necromances could be really strong if the token becomes a 2/2, but that might be almost too strong for just one corpse. Curious on how they'll go about it.

Mage buffs just look like fun, DH and Druid are probably pointless for the time being (I'm assuming mana reductions here)

Priest looks very very interesting. If the buffs are good enough then Undead Priest might be a serious midrange contender.

Hopeful for Warlock buffs as well, but it's probably just gonna be 1-mana off each card which probably isn't enough to make that deck a thing.

Warrior buffs could be interesting. Remornia with better stats could be an interesting pick-up for Control Warrior or something more tempo-ish (or just as a lategame threat for Enrage Warrior). Spellbreaker at 4-mana could be really powerful if you can actually put together a reasonable Control deck, which might be an option if they unnerf Nellie (although I doubt they'll just fully revert her, because then we're back at the point where she just wins games on the spot). Interested on how they're gonna buff Asvedon, given that he is already an all-around good card in a class that just happens to not be able to use him effectively. Perhaps "target enemies if possible" to make better use of damage spells.

  • Hearthstone is Getting 18 Card Buffs and 7 Card Nerfs in This Week's Balance Update

Except they are literally the best cards in the game and the prime reason why the meta is the way it is.

Pray tell what cards you think are in need of nerfs?

  • Hearthstone is Getting 18 Card Buffs and 7 Card Nerfs in This Week's Balance Update

I dont think blizzard understands what cards are the biggest problem right now. These cards they are nerfing don't feel ridiculously strong for the most part.

  • Mini-Set Madness - Card Design Competition Discussion Thread

    Three ideas.

  • Breaking Down MARVEL SNAP's New Card Dazzler - Theorycraft Decks, Top Five Synergies, & Lore!

This card is so underwhelming it's not even funny. Committing your deck to fill all locations for an extra 6 power for a 4 mana card, that can be cancelled by Enchantress is a recipe for disaster, especially on how many locations can destroy you. Unless people don't run this card or get lucky. I'd never spend tokens for this card. Won't even play it if they give it for free.

Probably the most fun deck to play it in is the Thanos one, yet i'm not sure about the win rating.

  • Divine Shield Paladin - Wild Hearthstone Full Deck & Guide on the Wildest of Days

Love to see another "Bolvar Fan". I've been playing this archetype since KoFT and every expansion I hope we get good divine shield cards. My suggestions are to try Darkmoon Dirigible instead of Good Two Shields, because of Zilliax sinergy and proactivity when it is currupted and resummoned by Rally. If you lack of draw, change Conviction for Hand of Adaal

  • nerf today?

Nerfs, or atleast the Patchnotes, are coming this Thursday and the mini-set release is roughly 3 weeks away from now. The rule of thumb is:

    Week 0: Expansion release

    Week 4: Battlegrounds Season

    Week 8: Mini-set + big Mercs Update

Week 12: Announcement of the next Expansion.

  • Mini-Set Madness - Card Design Competition Discussion Thread

This card is for the Rastakhan's Rumble mini-set which is intended to combine the Witchwood, Boomsday and RR expansions. This card focuses on a ghostly swarm of Gral's sharks (note that the Echo keyword doesn't allow this to cost less than 1).  It allows shenanigans to be pulled off with cards such as Cannon Barrage, Bloodsail Howler, Serrated Tooth and it's Battlecry can be doubled by Spirit of the Shark.

  • Breaking Down MARVEL SNAP's New Card Dazzler - Theorycraft Decks, Top Five Synergies, & Lore!

Yeah, since then I did a little research and can confirm that I was just getting unlucky, since S5 supposed to have 31.25% chance to show up with full S3 collection, which I have. I got some ultimate variants as well with around 6% chance, still no S5...

  • nerf today?

will there be a round of nerf today? If not, when?

    what about miniset announcement ?

  • Rewards Track: Current progress 7.0

Neb, you´re fast as light again! Not only you´re the king of the Snowpocalypse 3, you´re also light years ahead of us on the Rewards Track!

I´ve hit level 70 a week ago and got the 20% XP boost. I´ve also hit 1600 total levels on Tavern Regular and chose my ninth hero portrait Judgment Uther, so it leaves me with Malfurion (or the new DK potentially) as my last.

Now I´m at level 90 and my XP achievement count is at 60% done. I´m not really in much hurry since I have other things to deal with in my life. I´ve stopped playing Mercs, since I have them all atm and maxing them all up takes too much time, so I´m having some break till there are some new minions added.

Good climb on the track folks! :)

  • [Game] Card Treasure Hunt (Hearthstone Riddles)

No, not Howling Blast. This card has rotated to Wild.

  • Breaking Down MARVEL SNAP's New Card Dazzler - Theorycraft Decks, Top Five Synergies, & Lore!

Works as intented, though that intention is going to change in a future update if I remember correctly. Right now the shop first rolls the series (including Ultimate variants) and then offers a random card from that series that wasn't offered before, until everything was offered once, which then resets the list for that series. You just rolled series 4 a bunch of times recently, which is why it offers you the cards more often than usual.

  • Mini-Set Madness - Card Design Competition Discussion Thread

Well this is a hard prompt but i think i got a pretty solid idea.

I'm 99% sure i'll submit this one, just need feedback on the 4 effects. Still, made a second idea just in case:

  • Mini-Set Madness - Card Design Competition Discussion Thread

    Here's my first idea.

The Cambrian is a geological period when biodiversity really exploded and complex organisms started to thrive. I figured out a mini-set based on other extinct animals would make sense. The reward is based on the dunkleosteus, a huge predator fish (which lived in a posterior period, but whatever).

In terms of mechanics, it provides a Neutral Quest (just like Throne of the Tides had Neutral Colossals) and uses the new keyword Adaption, which complements Adapt.

I think this might be a bit too weak, so I might change it so that all summoned minions get the Adaption; or that it gives other minions the two Adaption you didn't pick instead of the one you picked; or both.
