I hope that the "suit" responsible for accepting the Google/Yahoo deal was laid off -- they clearly didn't understand how eSports culture works, and just opted for the short-term gains to the detriment of the long-term health of Blizzard's properties.
I assume all the other Blizzard games suffered a similar drop, which means we're entering a long and difficult rebuilding phase for all Blizzard games. Let's hope the new Microsoft management will have a better understanding of the competitive scene!
Incredibly short-sighted by them. The game prints money like there's no tomorrow and they refuse to use esports as a marketing expense. The game needs growth. Doing fun esports stuff could be an easy way to have players talking positively about the game and for what effectively amounts to peanuts of the Hearthstone profit pie.
The one thing I hope that happens is Twitch gets HS Esports out of a rut and next year gets better. They should have just cloned 2022 and put the 2023 on twitch for a better comparison and then nuke the scene if it wasn't working out, but it does feel like a Heroes of the Storm moment.

I'm not a huge twitch viewer, but it's objectively the better platform to host events that are supposed to generate hype. Youtube chat is terrible and their drop system is atrocious as well.
Let's hope this breathes some life into the whole thing instead of just killing it even harder.
Agreed! A quick glance at the previous events was enough to see that the same highly enthusiastic participants are present, each time. And it is hard to stay at the very top, each and every single times; Snowpocalypse 3 was your time to shine! Well done on the clues hunt!!
I'd be curious to see the site metrics on the games it covers. Is Hearthstone still the king of user interest here? or is SNAP bringing in more clicks and engagement? Is Runeterra even relevant anymore to outofcards?

I know a lot of you have been asking about Standard balance changes. We're putting together a pretty big patch for ~1 week from now. In all honesty, I wish we could have shipped this patch a little sooner. The holiday break pushed our patch schedule, but the meta doesn't take a holiday, so I empathize with players who feel like this patch is coming late. Though I can't promise anything right now, we're chatting as a team about if we can adjust our patch cadence next holiday break. Hope you all enjoy the upcoming patch!
From my personal investigation, I was able to assess that Pezman did attempt to snow assault me - 15 times in a row - but just after the countdown was over ... As I was unaware of said countdown being done, I sorta kinda did the same to you back, granting you loads of snow for next year I guess ^^
Ok, so I started paying attention. After each game (any mode), you get EITHER gems for this event OR reward track XP. I am PISSED. They are essentially taking away my XP, which I want, and giving me event gems, which I DON'T.
EDIT: Sometimes you actually get both, but I definitely had a few games where I got ONLY some gems and not any XP. I checked my XP counter between each match.
