She who wanders(AKA she who wins)- got a HUGE nerf I actually didn't realize they took off regenerate as well.. the deck is fine it's a control deck.. let it be... if you are doing nothing the whole game, and overextending and not dealing damage.. you should lose..

Deny- such effect is good to have in the game I think it's not broken by any means and I think we should've more of those effects you can play around it with baiting it or you can

I didn't see the Fiora deck as being oppressive while I played.. I never lost to it.. just have hard removal of some sort and you will be ok.. or play big enough followers for them to not be able to beat with Fiora.

Anivia- dunno.. never lost to her, probably got lucky? dunno again I used to play fast deck vlad + braum, draven + jinx, elise + kalista decks.. so ye.. didn't face her.

shark chariot- need to be nerfed I think it costs too little or it needs to be limited to one return..

Teemo- teemo is fine.. again.. run removal or be fast enough to beat them.

  • So I was playing it a bunch last week and I wasn't doing that well in ranked, but the list seems really good. Then I saw some top wild player included Neru'bar Weblord which increases battlecry cost by 2 of all minions. It seems like a garbage minion, but I tried it out and you wouldn't believe the amount of games I've won because of it. The last game I played to get into rank 10 floor was against a Corrupt the Waters shaman and I had 2 on the field he couldn't remove. He never played a single battlecry minion. I rarely BM emote, but I just had to.

So, I've updated it to go way more pirate heavy and included the weblords. It can probably be improved somehow, idk. You can even beat secret mage when they don't have the minion that aoe's when you play a secret and you make sure to buff a few minions up enough not to die to flame ward. Lot's of stuff seems beatable.

    Here goes:

I don't mind Deny. I think there should be some inherent risk in using powerful spells. In this case, the only time that risk exists at all is when you're up against Ionia. The fact that no other region can use it makes the risk more acceptable.

There is also a risk in including Deny, or in using Ionia just for access to Deny when another region might make more sense for your deck: If you go up against a deck that doesn't depend on expensive spells, you've got up to three dead cards in your deck.

Not shudderwock either. I’ll go ahead and say it’s  not a legendary.

Wow! That is a lot of effort put in a deck I initially crafted to have fun in casual. I don't have a lot of the cards you mentioned - Valeera and Preparation. Also the deck is called Tekhan Rogue so I feel like Galakrond 's kind of important there.

If you want this deck to be good, you cannot get attached to certain cards. You shouldn't worry too much about the flavor of your deck or playing cards simply because they are 'cool'. If Galakrond isn't a good card, then change the flavour of your deck so that it can be better.

Or if you don't care much about win rate and having the best version of the deck then go all in with the flavour and 'cool stuff'.

My sleep cycles are out of whack right now so I can't promise anything, but if the mood strikes me when I get off work I'll do a bit more tweaking and give it a spin - I've not played Wild in a couple months so my ranking should be low enough to allow for some experimentation. The further thought occurred a moment ago that it probably needs an additional bounce since you need one to finish quest (for some reason my brain was still keyed to quest needing 4x rather than 5x plays). Maybe drop a Sap for it, as I seem to recall it underperforming in Wild. Will see after some playtesting.

But yeah, if the deck makes me smile - which it will accomplish if I manage to relive some Quest Rogue glory days without getting stomped too badly in the process - I'll post and cross-link.

What could I replace Force of Nature with?

If you agree I'd love for you to make your version of the deck and post it on your profile mentioning me somewhere or linking this deck or something. Yours will be the competitive version maybe with techs and winrates and stuff.

If you do- post a comment here or message me somehow so I can like it.

My opinions, as a long-time Quest Rogue player:

    - This will obviously be in Wild, and Wild is not a place for unrefined decks. If you're going to be playing a slow game plan (which you are, given the concept behind the deck) you need both strong anti-aggro tools and some board resets for when the broken stuff starts happening.

    - Your fundamental concept (i.e. permanently re-summoning Recurring Villains) is as much late-game as you need, in theory at least. N'zoth is a good emergency-slash-boardfill, so that's fine. However, a number of your other cards are unnecessary greed that doesn't actually get you to your win condition, and so should be dropped.

    - If you use Lab Recruiter properly, you will never need to worry about fatigue. Equally, bounce effects are far more reliable than shuffles to complete quest. As such, your shuffle effects are unnecessary, in my opinion.

    - Galakrond is cute and all, but while having a 4/4 on-demand is useful it's nothing compared to some of the dirty things you can do with Valeera in a Quest Rogue deck. She's also your gateway (alongside Lab Recruiter) to never having to worry about fatigue. Drop Galakrond for Valeera and never look back (especially since you're not running Invokes and have no room or need to add them).

So, how do my suggestions change the deck?

    -2 Togwaggle's Scheme
    -2 Stowaway
    +2 Preparation
    +2 Vanish

Schemes are unnecessary, as above, and Stowaway's card draw becomes less reliable (and generally unnecessary anyway) as a result. Vanish is integral to redeeming otherwise irreparable boardstates, and although nerfed Prep is still extremely helpful in either getting it off in time or allowing you to build tempo on the same turn.

    -1 Galakrond
    +1 Valeera

    As above.

    -1 Necrium Blade
    -2 Cheat Death
    +2 Fan of Knives
    +1 Recurring Villain

The Cheat Deaths should be unnecessary, since one Raiding Party is getting you to your quest completion anyway. I'm also not sold on having two Necrium Blades - one is fine to be drawn with a Raiding Party, but past that I don't really think it's adding enough (it's removal, sure, but the DR trigger isn't doing a huge amount - either summoning a 4/4 or triggering a small heal). Better to add a couple of FoKs for cycle (and more to the point, removal). I would also add a second Recurring Villain purely because it's the centrepiece of the deck and so getting it out reliably feels like a good idea (I'm not sure it's optimal, technically, but the deck isn't supposed to be wholly optimal so much as optimised, no?).

One further change I've considered but unsure on at the moment would be to drop one of the Raiding Party for a Mimic Pod - the second Raiding Party is going to be dead, but on the other hand, having two copies would significantly improve reliability. Mimic Pod is very nice for resource generation, though.

Final thoughts - no room for Giggling Inventor or Zilliax makes me sad. Still, give the above a try and see if it's any stronger.

  • Standard Meta Report #16 - December 22, 2019 - December 29, 2019

Honestly, It kind of neat to see the meta not being completely lopsided for once.

I still feel like Face Hunter should just be obliteratede form orbit because of how dumb of a deck it is.

I also feel like Necrium Apothecary will need to be hit at some point in time. It's just not really feasible to run both Ooze and Spellbreaker and draw them within the first 3 turns to get blown out completely.

Maybe the problem wilil fix itself once Necrium Blade rotates, but I fear that any new Deathrattle minion will be a problem in Rogue.

Yeah, I was in the middle of doing an Eternal post at the same time and screwed up. Fixed! =)

  • Tekhan Rogue

That's a pretty creative way to use the Quest! Grats!

... And now we wait for it to become popular once more and get nerfed again!! Third time's a Charm ;)

  • Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from Out of Cards

Better late than never, Happy Holidays everyone!

  • Treant Druid

This deck is VERY good. I subbed out Goru for Power of the Wild #2, and I've been tearing up the ladder. I don't care about making legend, but if I had time and desire, I could easily do it with this deck. Rank 3 presently.

  • Theorycraft Plot Twist Warlock

Been playing a handlock similar to this with success at rank 1 and 2 will come back when I’m not on mobile to paste the decklist. The difficult part of handlock lists is that there are so many options for cards to put in the deck. Quest is actually one of the cards that does very well surprisingly

Excepting highlander decks, the dust cost haven't actually been ramping up. Its just the cards being more specialized , which means you need more cards to play more decks, more so than in the past.

In the previous set rotation there wasn't any highlander decks, which is already one of the most expensive archetypes in hearthstone presently, and I think its commonly accepted the previous year's expansion (Witchwood - Rastakhan) has minimal impact on the previous meta (Ungoro - Rastakhan), so you pretty much only had to craft the few deathknight hero cards and a couple more legendaries/epics from Ungoro - Kobolds expansion to play most decks.

From RoS to DoD, the meta is more diverse and legendaries/epics kinda got more specialized. Plus, team5 have been going on each expansion trying to introduce more deck types instead of powering previous ones so more resources are needed if you're gonna be playing even half the list from tier 1-2.

In a way, its healthy for the game, but its undoubtedly makes it more expensive to enjoy it, provided you want to play most of the decks.

I think that's a pretty accurate analysis! It definitely makes it hard to keep up as a FTP player, but I've still managed to get 1-2 basically meta decks. And most importantly it's still fun!

  • N'Zoth Dragon Galakrond Hybrid Priest (Updated for Priest Changes)

Glad to see you having nice results with my deck.

I do agree healing is not the best aspect of this deck, which leaves it vulnerable to burst. You can tech in Greater Healing Potion if needed to gain some more sustain versus high damage combos you anticipate.

Twilight Drake seems like an interesting addition, because you do have around 8 cards in your hand most of the time. I do wonder what can be replaced for it tho. I'd say not much.

Btw, I do run Wyrmrest Agent in my base deck, so you didn't have to worry if you thought you included that card just because you didn't craft other cards.
