Cool cards, it does bug me though that the legendary costs 2 more than tess and loses the ability to replay minions, and no added functionality as far as I can see, I get that mage is generally better at going late but still. Also still not sure why they decided vast wisdom needed to cost 3 mana
Oh wow I love Energy Shaper that's a cool card! The rest of the package looks good.
Except Vast Wisdom, I still stand by the fact that its hot flaming garbage. I'm not sure how it works with Shaper but if it transforms the 3-cost swap into a 5-cost then maybe I can see it being slightly less bad, but still bad and probably only seeing play in this deck.
It's disappointing to see another blunder like this make its way into the news feed, especially when the hype train was gaining some decent momentum...similar to how the voice lines from the task progression just disappeared after the last patch dropped, I don't see any real solutions for this event coming any time soon.
I've opened a ticket with blizzard support a few days after the patch went live asking if the voice lines were taken out, or if it's just a bug that will get fixed with 25.0.
It's still open...I would have been thankful for a simple "yes, they were intentionally taken out" or "it's just a bug, stay tuned for a fix", but no, they either don't know what really happened with the voice line, or they just don't care enough to justify their absence.
Maybe I'm only remembering the recent ones (Old Gods) then, but even so, once they've set up a system to change which coins are present, why not continue using it? It's not like it's difficult to find space as there's several bounties for the large majority* of mercs, so switching 1 out isn't a problem.
Perversely a few, mostly epics like Cho, only have coins in a single bounty, which is a bit annoying.
I was severely unimpressed with the excess coin implementation and tired of the sunk-cost fallacy that Mercenaries had already put me through but I did plan on returning to get Rattlegore once time permitted in order to give the new content one honest try.
And then they pull this. Seriously, Blizz has hit the "go fuck yourselves" portion of these proceedings with aplomb. I will not speculate as to what responsibility goes to the devs or the publisher, but since the ultimate responsibility goes to the publisher in any event, it should be noted that Blizz seems to be trying to get people to reject this game mode. Whelp, well done, who am I to argue?
As someone who loves casino mage, this is my dream card. This is Tess Greymane, but only for spells and i love it! Oh and it can also cast mage spells that didn't start in your deck, which is really good. I guess i know which card to insta-craft day 1.
Can't wait to play Casino Mage in wild with Rommath and 2x Yogg!
Aye, but there's a precedent for that, isn't there? Although in the early events they used to keep one or more bounties with new Merc's coins specifically locked until said event had ended/next patch arrived. It's the Old Gods who didn't all play by "the rules". That's why I'm sort of expecting one or more of the currently existing options to be repurposed for Rattlegore coins with the coming patch (even if the current lack of consistency might not warrant such trust). I did expand said paragraph a little to hopefully better clarify.
I finished the Rattlegore quests ages ago, so this doesn't affect me, but what makes it a real doozy is that Rattlegore coins weren't added to any of the existing bounties. So yeah, crafting epics is cheaper than legendaries, but there's currently no controlled way to get Rattlegore coins, so good luck with that.
This, in my opinion, is what I always hated about mage's identity
Whenever mage goes full random things go brrrr, I always get this feeling of inevitability, like all my hard work really never matters because no matter how ahead I am I'll find myself losing the game because of some bs random event happening that can never be played around or expected.
More so than priest or rogue, because at least with those classes they're rarely ever competitively viable, and it still does require a degree of skill to pilot. Same cannot be said about mage, because more often than not its pilot doesn't know whats going to happen himself.
But are these cards good? Well its certainly not bad. Mage has more than enough stall options, draw, and can generate spells very well. Energy Shaper is basically going to repeat Deck of Lunacy's history, and you have Grand Magister Rommath as the new puzzlebox, albeit less random.
My only hope is that the deck is clunky enough that its tier 3 at best. But who am I kidding. I cant remember the last time mage featuring random shit didn't end up competitive. Even Trick Totem became a card that needs to be respected.
So casino mage finally gets its Tess? Targeted spells are often the volatile part of Tess' battlecry, and usually best avoided if possible. Since Rommath doesn't have the 'targets enemies' clause, he's going to have the same issue, and doubly so as he can't fill out the bulk of his battlecry with minions to avoid the issue. It does make me wonder why he costs 9 vs Tess' 7. I guess it's much more reliable to get stuff like Rune of the Archmage.
Overall though, it all looks like simple translations of burgle rogue cards into mage (Energy Shaper = modernised Lilian Voss, Rommath = Tess, and Pirsmatic Elemental = Hench-Clan Burglar), so I'll just stick with rogue for this stuff like I always do. I'm sure the people who prefer casino mage will be happy to finally have these tools though.
Quick note before the gallery gets updated: Prismatic Elemental is most likely an Epic, as that's what the Korean version is and it wouldn't make sense for Mage to have only 1 Epic.
As (former) Farstriders of Quel-thelas, I have to assume the Windrunner sisters were its intended companion heroes, but the poor spotter got tasked with working with Rexxar instead. I guess this sort of thing must be quite common within the Horde, where the disparate races have very different ways of doing things.

Live or Die by RNG Mage never changes.
They should make an archetype for Mage that actually makes you feel like a Mage. RNG makes it seem like the Mage is a rookie at Magic
Actually let us choose the spells we want to cast, for cards that cast multiple spells
As for the card I'm guessing it's pretty strong but a big costed minion is the last thing Mage needs.

Rommath is awesome.
I don't care if it is actually good card. I will add him to my Casino Mage and throw as many random and generated spells I can.
