  • New Neutral Spell - The Sunwell

Rating this 5/5 stars, just because it lets me play Casino in every class. Also its very inconsistant right now, which is how random generation cards SHOULD be. And in next expansion releases you might randomly get DK spells that require Corpses, which means there will be even more bad cards to hit. (Unless those wont be in the pool) I really like this spell.

However after rotation, this might become a menace by becoming Deck of Lunacy version 2.... Random generation + smaller card pools is very scary.

  • New Neutral Minion - Invincible

As long as there are good undead minions, or some other good synergy this will be a very strong card.

  • New Neutral Minion - Lor'themar Theron

Emeriss for 3 less mana, but doesnt handbuff? This seems awfull on first glance, and remains pretty bad when you think about it. The best case scenario for this card is when you play this after it gets discounted by a card like Vanndar Stormpike. Or if you ramp to it with Druid, but i dont see the synergy for this card in druid. But hey playing some kind of BIG deck might be fun, so at least he has that going. And obviously Mark will make some kind of OTK deck using this card, so that will be a fun video to look forward to.

  • New Neutral Minion - Street Sweeper

Doesnt seem that good, but at least its usable for classes that lack AOE cards. but even then, for 1 more mana you can use Neutral-Defile instead.

  • New Neutral Minion - Sunfury Clergy

Hmm, this might see play occasionally in some deck. Maybe Priests will tinker around with it? Seems like a priest/control card to me. Aggro wont run this, because they rather vomid good statted minions and minion with better effects.

Only an idiot plays Morph, by the way.

Morph has its place. If people are running big boys due to a certain Featured or Hot Location, it can be a nice highroll card. Also, Mister Negative makes Morph more attractive as well.

  • New Neutral Minion - Silvermoon Sentinel

Hmm. This seems good on paper, but i feel like it might not be good enough to actually run. The only class that probably could run it is Druid, because of their ramping stuff.

  • New Neutral Minion - Infected Peasant

decent minion, seems good in token decks and Undead synergy decks. This will be good only if the undead synergy is good enough. Otherwise it might be alright in arena.

  • How do I level up useless cards?

Yeah I think just swapping them into a deck for a little while is the way to go. Luckily you only have to get that cheaper intital boost for them, and after that the cost of upgrading is relatively the same across upgrade levels (100 credits per level).

Also remember that even though cards with no special abilities are pretty underwhelming for the first 2 pools, in pool 3 Patriot exists, which gives them some new life.

  • New Death Knight Weapon - Frostmourne

Ahh, the iconic and famous Frostmourne, not changed from it's original version. I feel like Frostmourne alone might not be too great, but with Runeforging it might be playable. And honestly if Frostmourne sucks, i bet Frostmourne will be one of the cards they will buff really quickly simply because it's Frostmourne. And i think that releasing lich king hero/Death Knights without Frostmourne being a good card is a very bad idea.

  • New Death Knight Minion - Corpse Bride

Hmm, so basically this turns your dead minions into a giant + a 5/5? This sounds very strong if this came out like a year, maybe 2 years ago. The worry with this card is mainly that it consumes too many corpses and it's just stats. And just a pile of stats isn't good enough these days. But hey maybe i'm wrong and Unholy DK has so many ways to generate corpses that they can run this no problem.

  • New Death Knight Spell - Anti-Magic Shell

So it now costs 1 less mana, is only runable as long as you run a unholy rune, a.k.a. the "token/corpse generators" rune but gives 1/1 less stats? The original was one of the, if not the best DK card and honestly i feel like this might have just been a buff. The additional stats were often not even the best thing about the original. The best thing about it was the "your minions cant be targetted by spells and hero powers" part, and now you get that for 1 less mana. And for a spell being locked behind a rune, the unholy rune is honestly THE best rune for it. Yeah this is a incredibly strong card. Most classes dont run many board wipe cards, just look at Druid which mostly runs smaller "deal x damage" to a minion spells. This will be very powerfull.

  • New Death Knight Spell - Runeforging

Nearly all weapon tutors have seen play at some point, and i bet this will as well. Also if you spend 1 corpse you can get Frostmourne out on turn 6, which might be a decent play. And of course this card gets better with every weapon that DK gets. Easely a 5 star card i.m.o. Very good in every DK deck that runs a weapon, and this having no rune-cost means all DK decks can use this and that makes this so much more flexible.

  • New Death Knight Minion - Malignant Horror

Very sticky and good with buff effect... HOWEVER there is 1 thing that cant be ignored. The effect. This effect is very powerfull as long as you have version with reborn, HOWEVER this effect is AWFUL once the reborn triggers. Imagine you play this, and your opponent kills both copies of this minion with a spell, but leaves the non-reborns on board as 2/1s. Well if your opponent has a empty board and you cant kill of your Malignant Horrors, guess what? Your spending 5-10 corpses on summoning 1 or 2 2/1s. And thus your opponent can drain your corpse total in exchance for a bit of health.

However as long as DK has enough ways of buffing this minion, this might still be worth running regardless. But you still have to be wary of your opponent draining your corpses.

  • New Death Knight Minion - Chillfallen Baron

Hmm. this is like Arcane Intellect but as a minion, and 1 draw is delayed. Still this being a minion = 1 corpse when it dies which DK might enjoy. I think this will certainly see play in DK decks which dont run a frost rune, considering most of DK draw we have seen so far costs a frost rune. (iirc) This seems very flexble, and flexible cards have often been pretty good.

  • New Death Knight Minion - Body Bagger

Hmm. A 1 mana 1/3 is pretty good and it gives a corpse which is nice. But i honestly don't think this will see much play. I think DK will rather use some kind of neutral card that summons multiple tokens instead so they can generate corpses... But at least Body Bagger has one thing going for it: You get a corpse instantly, which means you can use a card like Runeforging on turn 2 guaranteed. My guess is that this might see play in some kind of Blood/Frost DK hybrid deck, because they otherwise might not get enough corpses without running a unholy rune.

But even then, this will be powercrept really easely. So not great but decent until it gets powercrept by a random neutral.

  • Hearthstone Shop Update - Revamped Look, Current Offers for March of the Lich King, Battlegrounds & Mercenaries, Plus Future Deals

So the mega bundle doesn't give 2 golden legendaries anymore? Just two legendaries in a fancy frame? Golden is way better than that. Huge downgrade.

  • Blizzard's Battle.Net Twitter Tweets Fake Hearthstone Card Reveals For Death Knight's Core Set

Although I do not want to get involved too much in this topic, I'd like to give my own cents on the matter: maybe it won't change anything, maybe your ideas will shift a bit - see for yourself.

Almost a year ago, Onyxia's Lair's reveal season was taking place and Blizzard revealed the Warlock card Impfestation (yeah, super busted, right?) - after that, Songbird tweeted out that this card was initially meant to be a lesser Ultimate Infestation called Ultimate Impfestation (for obvious reasons), but in the end that design was used for Dreadlich Tamsin instead. Why am I telling this story? When creating this article's thumbnail, I created a card with Impfestation's art but called it "Ultimate Impfestation" to be used as a funny teaser. Here's the actual thumbnail.

However, my idea got rejected: Frosty explained to me that we were during a reveal season, and publishing a "fake card" without a clear disclaimer would've been a terrible move for us, because it would've been misleading to our audience and would've damaged us in the long run.

Now let's get back to yesterday's episode. We just finished pushing live the first reveal article of the day when we notice Battle.net's tweet. I am still editing minor details (card positioning, sources, article tags) and this second "reveal" catch me and everyone else off guard, as we weren't expecting more cards, let alone from another account that Team 5 never really uses for communication. I rush an article up without even looking at the cards, but when I am about to paste them I immediately notice that they're from Frozen Throne's solo content: I didn't even question their powerlevel (which is blatantly over the top), as I just pointed out that they couldn't be real. We just stay silent for a couple of very long minutes, not really knowing what to do because during a reveal season we have to be as fast and precise as possible (in the end, you're in this comment section because you trust our work, and we want to keep things that way), but at the same time we cannot afford publishing fake stuff, as we'd make fun of ourselves by doing so! After some time, I convinced Flux that there was no way they were actual Death Knight cards and he wrote this article.

Again, I am not interested in jumping into the debate, but I just wanted to give all our readers a few behind-the-scenes details that many of you might not be aware of. To me, the reveal season and the actual new Death Knight cards are way more interesting and exciting than a poorly timed joke, so I will keep focusing my attention towards them and, specifically, towards the next reveal, taking place in 9 hours (fucking perfect screenshot timing btw) - see you all then!

  • Hallow's End Patch Has Brought Back Dual-Class Drafts and Vintage Set Rotation to Hearthstone Arena, Just Not Without Its Own Issues

When I say skill ceiling - I mean both in drafting and in executing on your draft. The fact you have to deal with bad card offerings is what makes the mode so interesting imo. Don't forget that your opponents go through the same randomized buckets as you do.

Sure, sometimes you are forced to draft an absolute poop of a deck. Personally I don't find it happening too often, so there's something to be said about leaning into your bad buckets and making the most of it.
Those bad decks can even perform better than you expect because you tend to play them differently and more desperately - and that can prove beneficial in many situations.

HearthArena only got me so far, it wasn't until I started to watch pro Arena players on Twitch that I saw significant improvement. I mostly follow Dreads and RedBeard.

  • Blizzard Reveals 5 New Death Knight Cards for March of the Lich King

You're right, but AI sees play at 3 mana because you immediately draw the two cards, while Chillfallen Baron is a 3 mana draw one now and another one later, which I don't think is necessarily a good thing.

I think this debate will be solved by actual gameplay, but it's nice seeing cards that aren't blatantly overpowered.
