  • New Hunter Spell - Arcane Quiver

Unless hunter gets very good reasons to tutor arcane spells this card is just useless.

2 mana to draw a card that only adds +1 damage. If there isn't a card that scales with spell damage this card is just draw 1 for 2 mana, which is just bad. Not to mention that there current isn't really alot of arcane spells you want to tutor out from hunter.

Probably something down the line to be revealed.

  • New Mage Spell - Arcane Bolt

Its basically Arcane Shot for mage which can get slightly better if ever such a card in a deck can reach 8 mana without the game ending.

There is competition in First Flame, which is straight up better than this card. But this can hit face, and if ever you needed arcane spells this card is as easy as it gets. Cheap, effective, and hits face. Maybe bring back quest mage? Hopefully never.

  • New Death Knight Minion - Acolyte of Death

Im fairly convinced that most if not all DK cards are adjusted so they are better than average and this card is just it. 3 mana spidertank that must be removed, and since most of what DK does will generate undead boards this card will more often than not draw at least 2 cards. And even if it doesn't, youre still curving out with a spidertank.

Frost unholy for both the big undead boards and this card seems a very nice combo.

  • New Demon Hunter Spell - Deal with a Devil

The next identity of dhunter requires you to play no minions apparently. Is 5 mana 9/9 stats good enough? Probably only if there's a win con that requires the same condition. Because otherwise I wouldn't cripple my deckbuilding just so this can work. We're long away from the days where even a fully charged Emerald Spellstone can threaten to end games.

These days, a 5 mana card would need to at least be able to generate a big board with little conditions, or otherwise need at least be able to affect the board. The conditions of this card though...needs further convincing.

  • Upcoming Site Maintenance - Oct 31 at 11 PM Eastern

The page load delays are still happening after the update :(

  • An In-Depth Look at Death Knight, Hearthstone's Newest Class - Ghoul Hero Power, Rune System, Corpses Mechanic, New Cards, and More

Afraid not. That skin will be a part of the upcoming separate bundle that you can (pre-)purchase (starting November 8 and at least until the end of the year). Naturally not usable until Death Knight actually arrives, so no need to worry about it just yet.

DK looks fun and strong, but I'm curious why they didn't introduce a graveyard zone? Corpse mechanic is technically simpler version of it. This could, for example fix big priest by changing "summon a copy of minion that died this game" to "summon/ressurect a minion from your graveyard". They could also introduce tons of cards who interact with graveyard - "remove random minion from graveyard and gain its stats", "remove minion from graveyard and deal damage equal to its attack" etc. DK would feel less unique because of that but it would give so many posibilities.

  • Beat That Bounty Boss!

So, didn't want to create a new thread, and have a question about visitor quests.

So i tried to do Alexstrasza one, which required me to complete Azshara bounty with Athissa and Garona in party.

Ok, slotted them into nature bros, completed - nothing. Okay, maybe even if it doesn't say it, it needs to be completed on Heroic. Done - still nothing.

Is it me missing something or they just don't work yet?

  • New Shaman Minion - Unliving Champion

This is just Deathmatch Pavilion and will likely end up like it too.

Just a poor card that comes with conditions to even be decent. On its own, its just unplayably bad. Imagine slotting this over Clownfish on 3. Yeah, not happening.

The only way this even sees remotely any play is for the 1-2 undead drops being so good that this might as well be 3 mana double 3/2. Even then I'm doubtful because in what world will undead take over from murlocs when clownfish is this good?

  • An In-Depth Look at Death Knight, Hearthstone's Newest Class - Ghoul Hero Power, Rune System, Corpses Mechanic, New Cards, and More

    Pro

Thanks for the summary! One thing I haven't figured out yet is how to obtain the legendary Arthas hero skin. Is it included in the Path of Arthas bundle as well? That would increase the value of the mega bundle even more.

  • New Druid Minion - Nerubian Flyer

This card is just plain average to be honest, unless there's a really powerful undead 1 drop that must be removed or it snowballs.

Because outside of curving on turn 2, this card doesn't really do too much other than being a nuisance. And you really got to debate whether youre holding this on turn 2 just so it can get value. Can get better, but more likely it'll get sidelined by other less conditional cards.

  • Possible leaked nerf

Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if Im honest. In a world where theotar is playable, this will always be a possibility.

All they needed to do was to discard instead of swapping cards. That will immediately remove theotar as a win con and solve just about all the problems the entire community has about this card.

Wow, that's a lot to unpack - thanks for the well organized info!

  • March of the Lich King Heralds Hearthstone's Next Expansion - Death Knight Class, Minion Types, New Cards, and Mechanics Overview

That was my feeling as well re: Signature cards. It took me an embarrasingly long amount of time to realize that Invincible is the same Neutral card that's already been revealed. For class cards, there is a small colored section indicating where it belongs, below the card type tag. But it's not easy to tell at a glance.

  • New Druid Minion - Nerubian Flyer

This could work for tokens deck and keeping up the pressure on board, depending on the undead pool that is.

  • New Demon Hunter Spell - Deal with a Devil

We'll have to see what the rest of the set have in stock for DH, as minion-less deck in an expansion assumedly filled with minions' corpses seems rather unlikely ..?

  • March of the Lich King Heralds Hearthstone's Next Expansion - Death Knight Class, Minion Types, New Cards, and Mechanics Overview

Thank you (and everyone else who's expressed such notions), that's very uplifting to hear. As far as unexpected 'SNAFUs' go, this might've been the most painful one. Hopefully given a day or two more everything will be smoothed out, and we will be all caught up (and then some).

I do agree about Death Knight, it does seem like the most layered additon to the game yet. Will definitely give creative deckbuilders something to think about! I'm actually somewhat amazed they went there, not being afraid it might be too complex for their new or casual players (this is almost not an 'extra deck slots' joke).

  • March of the Lich King

Here we go! The season is on!

  • March of the Lich King Heralds Hearthstone's Next Expansion - Death Knight Class, Minion Types, New Cards, and Mechanics Overview

Generally I'm pretty hyped about this: big shake up seems fun. New mechanics. Interesting deckbuilding constraint (and opportunity)

Two things don't work for me though:

1: I don't like the look of the signature legendaries. Losing the card's colour in favour of an expansion-themed tint looks kinda lame to me.

2: the different drop rate on the Signature Golden Packs for legendaries really bothers me. I understand that there won't be a lot of people pumping cash in to get a full golden set, and that it's not targeted at all people, but it seems kinda shady. Making the odds so much better in those packs really pushes people to get those, which doesn't sit right with me.

But overall, pretty minor complaints. Really hyped for this one.

oh my god we're actually alive, hooray!

  • About upcoming cards

Interesting insights indeed, thanks for letting us know! So many videos and interviews going out and about, not easy to keep up with everything.

  • March of the Lich King Heralds Hearthstone's Next Expansion - Death Knight Class, Minion Types, New Cards, and Mechanics Overview

Thanks for clarifying it. At least it can be crafted, but kinda sucks that you cant get it from packs, given how many dupes you get from commons and rares anyway.

As for the rune system, Im more than prepared to give it a chance. Its all in the implementation, and we dont have the full list yet. But I would be stunned if a viable deck coming out of the system isn't already fully figured out by the devs rather than by pros, as most of the more impressive decks tend to be. It reminds me kinda of mech mage and pally, where the 30 card list is more or less 90% figured out on day one by sole virtue of its tag.

  • About upcoming cards

In Rarran's video today with Celestalon, specifically the section about the revealed cards Celestalon mentioned some things about the development of some of the recently revealed cards here are some that I found interesting

Sunfury Stalwart was originally a 6/8 but didn't have rush (presumably changed as a buff)

Invincible was originally (or at some point) 7 mana (Nerfed)

There is some specific ordering in place for dual tribal tags (all that was specifically mentioned is that undead goes first)

Scourge Rager was originally a 5/5 but apparently was "too OP" (I guess there's a rallyesque card this expansion that it's really good with)

He pretty much confirmed fire warrior (when talking about embers of strength)

Not particularly notable but apparently corpse explosion's rarity was changed last minute (was an epic I'd guess)

Vampiric blood was considered to be nerfed to 3 mana late in balancing but wasn't

    Just found this interesting

  • March of the Lich King Heralds Hearthstone's Next Expansion - Death Knight Class, Minion Types, New Cards, and Mechanics Overview

    Quote From dapperdog

As for the path of arthas set...my wallet doesn't like it. I feel stuff like these should be part of core, or at least obtainable via packs/dust. Events post microsoft takeover is starting to stink, and I hope hearthstone doesn't get any more expensive as it is.

Signature cards though, are as cool as they are completely optional. That's fine for me. But I do pity those omega whales who now have to drop god knows how much more to get all 18 of those things every expansion.

The Path cards are craftable and the bundle can be gotten for 2000 gold (like a miniset).  From Playhearthstone "Death Knight Deep Dive" article.

The entire Path of Arthas is included in the March of the Lich King Pre-Purchase Mega Bundle. Once the expansion goes live, the Path of Arthas will also be available for standalone purchase in either normal (2000 Gold or 1500 Runestones) or Golden offerings (money or 7000 Runestones). The Golden version includes Golden copies of all the cards in the Path of Arthas and a bonus Diamond copy of the Lady Deathwhisper Diamond Legendary card. ** Path of Arthas cards can’t be opened from packs, they can only be purchased as part of the pre-purchase Mega Bundle, purchased as a standalone purchase, or crafted.

For my 2cents here, I love everything about the Rune system. It's another deckbuilding puzzle to play with and also gives the devs another number to tweak in balance. Instead of raising the mana cost, they make that op card 2 frost runes instead of one, ect. We'll see how well it works in practice though because judging the system fully before that isn't thorough enough. However, if it does as well as it looks, I'd love to see it in other classes.

As for the Day one Mini-set, I'm actually for it because it focuses on the new class. I feel Demon Hunters lacked some tools early on. Not that Dh was weak but if there was an extra set for them back then, maybe their big demon cards would have had more of a foundation at launch.

  • Possible leaked nerf

Very interesting.  Will be fun to see where this goes, if anywhere.  But I would assume either 1) a nerf is likely coming or 2) maybe they thought about making him 6 mana last nerf and last minute decided on 5 mana instead, and someone uploaded the wrong JPG to the card library.
