Spent Day One tinkering with versions of Quest Rogue (Tess build vs. Tempo build) around Rank 8. First three opponents were Quest Druids. Then a Quest Hunter. And 80% of matches (and we’re talking 15-20+) thereafter were all Quest Shaman. Part of the appeal might just be the ease of completion: Lackeys all have battlecries, Questing Explorer has a battlecry, so just play the way you want to play and you’re done. Now whether or not it works out long term is a different story.
I have faced a lot of Druid quest opponents and lost some of them but won more of them. My mage removal and refill and card-draw was just better, and more chances on real crazy bonkers op stuff happening. Their main problem: they can not remove and fill board at the same time, and have limited draw. So either they can remove your board and its your turn to fill it again leaving you on top, or they put something on the board with some choose-one spell. While other decks have powerful remove-and-play-minion options available (stuff with rush etc).
For instance the deck shown by RandomGuy: the highest stat on a minion in that deck is 5-10 or 10-5, while as a mage its not uncommon to summon several minions with stats >7-7 (mountain giants, 1-cost big minions using Luna, conjurer calling on some big dudes etc). So in theory the quest delivers nice cards to play, but the factual minions on the board are not that strong and easier to remove.
It's a 10/10 b/c of the Quest. Also, card draw is not a problem in quest druid at all...I'm not sure where you're getting that impression. I would wager it's the best card draw class in the game.
I agree with the rest of what you said. Mage should probably be favored in that match up.
I played some yesterday evening (U.S.) using Whizbang (I did also play one game with a slightly-altered Mech Paladin to complete a quest) and mostly enjoyed the experience in the rank 20 neighborhood. Faced a curious mixture of opponents, including Quest Mage and Quest Warlock. Probably the most fun I had was with the Quest Hunter deck recipe: it's not *good* but it is highly entertaining; summoning a full board of rushing locusts and giving them all +2 attack is delightful.
I'm gonna try Slysssa's Quest Malygos Druid and Alliestrasza's Quest Shudderwock Shaman, not only because I like the decks, but also because they are made by cute female streamers who deserve more recognition... Of course, I already upvoted both. :) :) :)
Fist off replying to Sherman: You got downvoted because you are blantantly objectifiying these female streamers. In a world where objectification is at an all time high, doing it, where it really doesn't make sense to do it, just makes you look like a creep. You could have just said you like the female streamers and think they deserve more attention as streamers and gamers, not because you think they are 'cute'. I know it's confusing, I was confused as to why you got downvoted, then saw the word cute and facepalmed hard.
I was being honest. I only started watching these streamers because they are cute and almost anyone who has done the same did it for the same reason. Don't you believe me? Well, the fact there are no ugly well-known female Hearthstone streamers out there makes me 100% right.
Yeah, I'm being downvoted... so what? Do you really think I didn't expect such a reaction? You still don't know me if you believe such a thing...
You should take my comment and the downvotes it received for what they truly are: another way to show how much hypocritical is the world where we live today and where being a liar is more priced than being an honest person.
But still, I wish the best to Alliestrasza and Slysssa, not because they are cute, neither because they are women, but just because they support the game we all love while bringing a lot of fun to our lives at the same time. ;)
To anyone reading this comment, good luck and have fun with the new expansion... :)
Piss of stupid control warriors with 0 new cards. Go get a fucking life you miserable cunts. And no playing 29 removal cards + DR Boom doesn't make you a player that plays difficult decks. The deck you are playing is piss easy.
Actually, it's the card from the adventure called One Night in Karazhan, 3 mana 4/3 minion that makes you Immune during your turn.
You're thinking of a Violet Teacher. Some name of cards are very similar and can get easily be confused with another one when certain cards don't see much play.
So you want to take a second look by searching it up before you see someone talking strange thing, like Violet Teacher in Bomb quest warrior.

Every opponent I've faced has been either Quest Shaman or Conjurer's Mage. I just finished my 5th game in a row against mage and I'm already over it. HoF Mountain Giant.
I've only played 10 games (6-4 with a budget secret hunter) so very limited data. I did see all new decks which was nice, but I also understand not everyone will pre-order (I didn't) and may not have the gold to buy enough packs to build all-new-stuff.
Quest druid is my pick to be totally busted once it's refined. It's an easy one to finish and turns 5, 6, and 7 are insane with Oasis Surger, Hidden Oasis, Ancient of War.
Tried it for a few games. Went 5-0, deck feels insanely strong. A bit short on card draw sometimes, but almost anything you have in hand can have such a high impact on the game and produce such big swings that it didn't matter. Psychopomp + Archmage Vargoth or Convincing Infiltrator is nuts, King Phaoris summoning 1-3 9-drops (and the occasional Wisp XD) is nuts. I didn't even use Mass Resurrection or Plague of Death ONCE in those first games, had such a big board advantage that they just weren't needed.
Maybe I'd play a second Topsy Turvy instead of the second Shadow Word: Death for more BOOM, but that's just a detail.
Overall, the expansion feels like it's a race to whomever finishes their quest first. Barring specific RNG scenarios, whoever does that, usually wins. I have a feeling this will make "easy" quests like Shaman, Paladin, and Rogue "float to the top" of the meta, while other decks that require more effort (Warrior, Warlock, Mage) are stuck playing other style decks. Druid is in a unique scenario where their quest is easy to complete relatively speaking, but the requirement is floating mana each turn which can put you too far behind to comeback, even with super-choose both cards.
I think this is mostly a first day/week phenomenon. I wouldn't be surprised if the only quests we see regularly at the end of the month are Druid and Shaman, b/c Druid cannot do anything else that's meaningful, and Shaman's quest is excellent...
That said, I wouldn't be surprised to see more and more non-Quest murloc and aggro shamans and less Quest Shamans.
I find it funny that the year of the dragon has been woefully lacking in Dragons. The only one of notable importance has been Brightwing, and that was just a Classic addition re-fill for old Hall of Famed cards.
I'm conflicted. My all-time highest played class is shaman, and while I did craft Corrupt the Waters, I was really hoping to play Quest Priest or Quest Paladin this expansion a bit more (the only other quests I ended up getting from packs).
Quest Mech Paladin:
I tried quest paladin, and won a few, lost a few. Trying to squeeze in reborn, mechs, and "value" minions to copy with the quest hero power felt awkward. It feels like the deck has problems with card draw, even running 2x Crystology it felt lacking. The deck also lacks late game. TBH the reborn minions feel actually quite underpowered. None of my opponents ever had any problems clearing any of my minions. The games I won were due to my opponent not being able to clear key minions, or me not getting enough reborn in time to get my quest done before my opponent. Overall the deck feels like it's lacking card draw severely, and lacks a clear late game finish. Very strong early game though, if the opponent has no early game it can snowball very easily.
Quest Heal Priest:
Had a hard time getting the quest completed in a number of games. Going with the new priest legendary minion feels awkward, and feels like other people are playing Divine Spirit/Inner fire boring shennanigans just because of his health equalization effect. The hero power is bonkers, but often times it comes just a tad too late. Also, smart players can actually avoiding giving you free hero power heals by just ignoring going face unless it's impactful enough. Obviously the key weakness with Quest Priest is having a minion to buff or heal. Trying to run the "injured" cards like Blademaster or Tol'vir resulted in awkward turns where I ended up floating mana.
Quest Shaman:
Still vulnerable to RNG, and not drawing shudderwock in time, the deck feels like it's the "swiss army knife" of the expansion. It has great early game, great late game, tons of value immediate effect battlecries. Tons of lackeys to give you utility. Board clears galore. The deck feels like it's the "go-to" deck of the expansion if you're falling behind, but it's also heavily reliant on Evil Totem early game, as well as specific legendaries. I haven't tried the singleton version, but I imagine that is still fairly strong, but less consistent.

Corrupt the Waters! I haven't used it yet since I'm playing with Whizbang, but I'm pleased about it.

Haven't seen this deck in action, but I can imagine the surprise of summoning Colossus of the Moon as your "lowest cost minion"

Looks like both of the new secrets are super OP for the time being. I'm up to rank 3 now and absolutely no one plays around them
I don't remember this being the case in the past, but it looks like the general playerbase needs time learning how to play around them

Free Quest was Corrupt the Waters and my guaranteed legendary in 10 packs was Supreme Archaeology.

Got Untapped Potential as free, and golden Raid the Sky Temple from pre-order.
Also, first pack from todays quest gave me Activate the Obelisk. Really lucky this expansion!
