What have you enjoyed playing on ranked so far?. Are there any cards that you initially included but then took out due to what others are playing?.

Taunt warrior is very strong, but just like literally every single warrior deck atm it relies heavily on Mad Genius to carry. If they remove that one card Warrior is straight up meme tier.
Hunter singleton is super fun, and probably the best of that type, but not that great overall.
Quest Druid with Lucentbark and a couple of Crystal Merchants. Completing the Quest is easy, especially on the Coin and seeing all of those cards glow blue makes me happy.
Cocked, locked and ready to rock...
Reno lock is bonkers
not enough time to try a lot. I test quest paladin (non mech) and it´s nice. Did beat control warrior too but the quest druids are hard and there are plenty of them.
Well , right now im torn between 3 decks that i enjoy most.
Big/Duel Paladin
Taunt Warrior
Wall/Reborn Priest
but i'm still testing lots of stuff but these 3 are most fun so far
Challenge me ... when you're ready to duel a god!
Warrior needed doctor boom mad genious tbf, but he should have got the OP hero card when every other class did, in KFT. Scourgelord garrosh was a joke, that was laughed at all the way until rotation, especially when they made that "Deathknight brawl" where everyone just played frostlich jaina
Also i agree singleton hunter is very fun i made a deck and am getting pretty consistent wins out if it, check it out if you wanna
Living like that.
the quest rogue upgraded power is pretty strong
quest priest is bonkers late game
quest paladin is kind of crap from what ive seen
im still trying to make quest mage......
not sure about highlander druid
worst community ever
Having lots of fun with quest hunter atm. Got from 5 with 0 stars to r4 fairly comfortably.
Using jambre's list but swapped out 1 x Deadly Shot and 1 x Hunter's Mark for 2 x Revenge of the Wild. Found it really helps with quest completion after a big Unleash the Hounds or Swarm of Locusts
May all your legendaries be golden.
No deck is giving me a good feeling ATM. I had shitty luck this expansion and I dont want to craft nothing right now, untill the meta settles
I am having fun with a reno mage deck.
Highlander Mage without a second thought. :)
Puzzle Box of Yogg-Saron. Best addition to the game. I seriously enjoy big spell mage. Quest druid opponent played Archmage Vargoth. Puzzle box casted a mind control and boom I got another one casted for free Pog.
Another deck i am having good success with is deathrattle hunter with secrets. Hyena Alpha is a super card for secret decks.
Easy peasy Quest Druid - there's a lot of this that feels like old UI Druid to me. Wonky early game because you're "ramping." Then draw a lot and play overstatted shit. Win the game with a flexible late game suite of cards.
For the most part, I played the Highlander end game package because it's new.
I also toyed with a more Token heavy end game, which also worked fine. It's a little trickier to figure out exactly what parts of the token package to include, though. Space does get tight quickly.
OTK Warrior
I'm conflicted. My all-time highest played class is shaman, and while I did craft Corrupt the Waters, I was really hoping to play Quest Priest or Quest Paladin this expansion a bit more (the only other quests I ended up getting from packs).
Quest Mech Paladin:
I tried quest paladin, and won a few, lost a few. Trying to squeeze in reborn, mechs, and "value" minions to copy with the quest hero power felt awkward. It feels like the deck has problems with card draw, even running 2x Crystology it felt lacking. The deck also lacks late game. TBH the reborn minions feel actually quite underpowered. None of my opponents ever had any problems clearing any of my minions. The games I won were due to my opponent not being able to clear key minions, or me not getting enough reborn in time to get my quest done before my opponent. Overall the deck feels like it's lacking card draw severely, and lacks a clear late game finish. Very strong early game though, if the opponent has no early game it can snowball very easily.
Quest Heal Priest:
Had a hard time getting the quest completed in a number of games. Going with the new priest legendary minion feels awkward, and feels like other people are playing Divine Spirit/Inner fire boring shennanigans just because of his health equalization effect. The hero power is bonkers, but often times it comes just a tad too late. Also, smart players can actually avoiding giving you free hero power heals by just ignoring going face unless it's impactful enough. Obviously the key weakness with Quest Priest is having a minion to buff or heal. Trying to run the "injured" cards like Blademaster or Tol'vir resulted in awkward turns where I ended up floating mana.
Quest Shaman:
Still vulnerable to RNG, and not drawing shudderwock in time, the deck feels like it's the "swiss army knife" of the expansion. It has great early game, great late game, tons of value immediate effect battlecries. Tons of lackeys to give you utility. Board clears galore. The deck feels like it's the "go-to" deck of the expansion if you're falling behind, but it's also heavily reliant on Evil Totem early game, as well as specific legendaries. I haven't tried the singleton version, but I imagine that is still fairly strong, but less consistent.
Overall, the expansion feels like it's a race to whomever finishes their quest first. Barring specific RNG scenarios, whoever does that, usually wins. I have a feeling this will make "easy" quests like Shaman, Paladin, and Rogue "float to the top" of the meta, while other decks that require more effort (Warrior, Warlock, Mage) are stuck playing other style decks. Druid is in a unique scenario where their quest is easy to complete relatively speaking, but the requirement is floating mana each turn which can put you too far behind to comeback, even with super-choose both cards.

I think this is mostly a first day/week phenomenon. I wouldn't be surprised if the only quests we see regularly at the end of the month are Druid and Shaman, b/c Druid cannot do anything else that's meaningful, and Shaman's quest is excellent...
That said, I wouldn't be surprised to see more and more non-Quest murloc and aggro shamans and less Quest Shamans.
I have faced a lot of Druid quest opponents and lost some of them but won more of them. My mage removal and refill and card-draw was just better, and more chances on real crazy bonkers op stuff happening. Their main problem: they can not remove and fill board at the same time, and have limited draw. So either they can remove your board and its your turn to fill it again leaving you on top, or they put something on the board with some choose-one spell. While other decks have powerful remove-and-play-minion options available (stuff with rush etc).
For instance the deck shown by RandomGuy: the highest stat on a minion in that deck is 5-10 or 10-5, while as a mage its not uncommon to summon several minions with stats >7-7 (mountain giants, 1-cost big minions using Luna, conjurer calling on some big dudes etc). So in theory the quest delivers nice cards to play, but the factual minions on the board are not that strong and easier to remove.
It's a 10/10 b/c of the Quest.
Also, card draw is not a problem in quest druid at all...I'm not sure where you're getting that impression. I would wager it's the best card draw class in the game.
I agree with the rest of what you said. Mage should probably be favored in that match up.
quest druid is probably my favorite. the temp and value is insane. If they don't put you near death in the first couple turns it's pretty hard to lose. Druid quest is probably the fastest other than rogue and it's just so strong. Kind of feels like year of the raven druid again but without the broken cards (UI / SP) but you still have some nutty cards. I think the deck still needs some refinement but I think it'll be a meta deck for sure especially if/when cyclone mage gets nerfed. I think maly druid and token druid with the quest are both pretty viable but I think a beefy token druid might be the way to go in the long run. I was doing pretty well on ladder with a maly list though.
I've also tried these decks and these are my brief impressions.
secret hunter - excellent pressure against anything slightly slow and still solid against aggro. Hyena is strong
battlecry shaman - definitely needs a lot of refinement. so many different ways to build it. serious potential and power. you can contest warriors late game and grind everything else out or you can build pretty high tempo and have solid burst.
aggro overload shaman - I think this might be a good tournament deck now. This was already an established ladder deck but it got a good power boost. Sandstorm elemental and Mogu Fleshshaper are good cards in it, but most of all Vessina is very powerful. card is pretty nuts, it's bloodlust as an aura with a body. It gives the redundancy of a third bloodlust, allowing you to go for a more consistent token/lust finisher instead of doomhammer + spells. It still struggles to warrior but it generally beats mage which is very important.
control warrior with the taunt package - the taunt package is a lot stronger than i thought. shaggy is really good value and early board contest. The legendary dude is solid and just hitting zilliax + a tomb warden is great value. tomb warden in particular is better than a lot of people thought. it locks out aggro when buffed and it's a lot of sticky stats.
I do think it's important for the meta that the strongest decks, mage and warrior, now have more rougher matchups, especially mage. Mage is still broken but there are decks that can check it as long as they don't highroll their ass off. As the meta settles, we will see that mage is still broken and hopefully it gets the nerf.
If you are a bit careful in positioning your Mountain Giants and have delicate aim with your Conjurer's Calling then you do not need to highroll your ass off. You can just smash face.
being able to just giant + conj against an aggro deck IS highrolling. it means you likely had the coin, they got off to a slower start, you had some innervates, or some combination of these. but I was more referring to Luna's Pocket Galaxy's ability to just win you almost any game on the spot. I didn't think cyclone mage was as broken before they buffed that card, it was a lot harder to play and more restrictive with it's play style.
@Sykomike - You could try this version that I've had some success with. But no promises whether it works well or not. I've only been able to play a handful to games so far, but it seems like it's pretty close to the right list for that style of playing the priest quest.
For the original thread post, this is the deck I've been using so far. It feels pretty strong, but loses to insane RNG from the opponents.
I haven't been playing quest druid, but I've faced a lot of quest druids today for some random reason. The strong quest druid players are the ones that hold onto their choose one cards until after they complete the quest. They know why those choose cards are in their decks and why they need both effects at the same time. This means that minion presence and minion removal is not too important if the player knows how to pilot the deck, especially with healing or with card draw. They can leave their side of the board empty until completing the quest and then flood the board with buffed minions all at once if they do it right. Give it some days and you'll find out that it's not so easy to beat, once the pilots get their licences
Zoolock and old Dragon Priest (that with blackrock cards)
Highlander Hunter and Quest Shaman are both pretty fun, and I really want to make Quest Warock work too.
Gosh dang it, cards bad.
I guess this might includes wild too...
I really enjoy the return of Dreadsteed combo featuring Expired Merchant & Cruel Dinomancer
With Spiritsinger Umbra makes immortal army ready for any sacrifice synergy and crazy board control...
Its mainly meme but really fun to play
Don't have one atm, most quests are too weak or don't synergize with the DK's hp. So quests are an unplayable failure for me this expansion.
I've only played with 8 new cards that are spread out over 4 different decks...
@duppie: yes I was being ironic here :) meant it as a joke.
Even if i'm pretty bad with Highlander decks, i feel inevitably lured towards [WILD] Quest Highlander Tempo Rogue...
I mean, playing Zephrys the Great feels so good that it almost compensates for a loss. And stealing cards is always cool.
I'm considering crafting Kazakus too.
i only play wild so IMO
2500 armor druid
expired merchant infinite cruel dinomancer warlock
old quest warrior
reno mage
Been enjoying myself with mostly Quest Druid, Big Spell Mage and Aggro Warrior. Quest Shaman is also fun, when it works.
I´ve been playing mostly Reno Hunter in wild this days. Will do a push for R5 with it on the weekend.
I don´t know if the meta is too unstable, the decks too unrefined, I´ve been very lucky or if people just don´t care around R8-9 in Wild, but I´ve been having a suprising winstreak.
Zephrysis just too good of a card. It always gives you reach, silence, direct damage...
Here´s my list so far: https://outof.cards/hearthstone/decks/6065-reno-hunter-uldum-update
I'm not the biggest fan of Warrior in general, but I really am liking Trump's Tempo Warrior. I've lost count of how many times I was able to snipe the win with Grommash at the last minute.
Burgle rogue it is! And it‘s finally competitive (for now at least). Just hit rank 3.
Prismatic lense pallys were fun while it lasted (both the murloc and the phaoris version). Now people know what‘s coming and save boardclears.
A deck i haven’t tried yet but looks great is big spell mage. Still debating if it‘s worth the 4K dust.
Quest druid is surprisingly ... boring. The game starts at turn 5 and from there it‘s big board after big board.
Winner winner chicken dinner
Quest Paladin (I call it "Mechromancer" because of the reborn and mech minions) is a lot of fun and is incredibly annoying to deal with. I won 7 straight with the deck until I ran through a gauntlet of aggro/tempo decks, which it just loses miserably to. Of course, I didn't face a single Control Warrior in all of my matches despite that deck being my most favorable matchup. Way to go, Blizzard...
I'm trying out a regular Secret Hunter with only Hyena Alphas Hunter's Pack, with Zephrys the Great included for the late game. It's working out fine so far, I'm 5-1 with it. I find the highlander version too inconsistent for a tempo deck. My opponents also aren't prepared when I play two straight Hyena Alphas.
Reno quest mage is super fun and can win against almost every other deck
I've been playing Webweaver Hunter. Its been really fun so far. The only problem is that I keep winning without being able to pull of my combo.
haven't actually made my mind up yet. But leaning to quest priest and quest shammy. So far I have not been impressed with the expansion yet, so who knows who's gonna be the winner
I'm not online it's just your imagination
Bomb Warrior. (insert a trollface here)
Just kidding, I never play that. It is actually the new Quest Warlock with Plot Twist. Definitely not the best deck around, but I get immense fun playing it everytime when Whizbang decides to roll it for me.
ᄽὁȍ ̪ őὀᄿ Please check out my Wild Spider Queen deck! Fanfiction included. Mwuah! ᄽὁȍ ̪ őὀᄿ
I totally agree! Was initially disappointed when I opened the mage quest as I usually don't enjoy playing mage decks that much, but man this deck is tons of fun! And a lot stronger than I expected.
I've played some quest priest, murloc shaman, murloc paladin, and quest shaman. Only a few games of each. They are all pretty fun :)
Quest Paladin is so much more consistent and versatile than I thought.
It probably benefits a lot from people not running very tempo/aggro oriented lists, but overall it feels like a much better version of Mech Pally
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
Reno/Highlander/Singleton Quest mage is so much fun! easely the most fun deck archetype of the expansion. It's fun to play and shreds Control Warriors! Most fun i have had in a long time! (Last time i had this much fun was tesspionage in Boomsday Project Expansion, back when it was still a more control focused meta)
I have also been playing some Quest Hunter and Quest Priest, Hunter is just plain trash i.m.o, but Priest is decent. I feel like the Control Res Quest Priest might be the stronger version tho. (Not complaining, rather another Control Deck for more diversity, than just another aggro deck.)
I unfortunatly do not have a rogue quest yet, but i might craft it after like a week, once the meta has settled. (If it is still good, but i think it will be good)
Also Highkeeper RA Rogue is a BLAST!
RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
Well so far im still messing around with a variety of lists - Different Quest Decks, Highlander Variants and fun stuff like Big/Duel Paladin.
For the ladder i enjoy Zoo-Lock the most right now.
Challenge me ... when you're ready to duel a god!
I really like rush/enrage warrior it's such a fun deck I always like midrange/aggressive warrior decks(except pirate warrior) really like that deck so far it's my favorite.
Same, been playing a lot of enrage warrior too. Most warrior decks are too slow for my liking so getting that class to 500 wins will take the longest. This deck is a welcome change in that regard.
Unfortunately its winrate against control warrior is abysmal and I hate losing against that deck. Which is why I plan on trying out highlander hunter and quest paladin next weekend.
Been playing a new standard version of the classic Freeze mage, and its catching a lot of people off guard. Win con is Naga>2x Pyroblast. Alex first if necessary. The new Flame Ward, the Arcane Flakmage, andAncient Mysteries are big helpers. As with the old Freeze Mage however, it's an instant concede against warrior.
Communism is just a red herring
Control/Taunt Warrior is pretty strong right now, so I climbed with it.
Then played Quest Druid/Priest a lot, really fun game when you either highroll or get rekt.
Also, gonna try an Pogo Rogue I've seen.
Papa Nurgle wants to share his gifts.
Enjoying Highlander Hunter, that's about it. All the classes I want to focus on getting golden I can't find a solid enough deck for playing ladder. All shaman decks feel subpar, and I don't want to play Murlocs anymore. Paladin I don't have the quest, I don't like the new murloc deck, and I already have golden paladin. Rogue feels like trash this xpac. Warlock is just zoo as always, and now the meta is settling, its winrate is dropping, Priest is meme status still, and I hate Mage and Warrior.
This one:
ForTheMemes!!! :D :D :D
Are you playing a bad decklist? Most are now running something like this https://outof.cards/hearthstone/decks/6228-mech-egg-quest , with 2x Mechano-Egg, 2x Mechanical Whelp, Kangor's Endless Army, and Da Undatakah ... That's the exact opposite of "lacking late game". It does struggle with early-game though.
Not running Kangors, I'm running 2x Eggs, but not 2x whelps. (2x whelps, while good value, is often too slow versus other decks, eggs come out a turn sooner, and produce bigger minions.)
And Yes I'm running undatakah.
Also, you might want to refrain from making statements like "bad decklists". It's been less than a week since the release officially came out, even "good" (by comparison) decklists are still unrefined.
<Your Ad Here>
You would think that would be self explanatory with the style of deck 😂. I have been playing it today exactly how you state here and it really is a great deck.
For "competitive" decks: I'm enjoying/doing fairly well with Quest Rogue - I loved Tesspionage Rogue but the deck really lived and died on how quickly you could pump up your Spectral Cutlass (and have it not get destroyed) so I think the Quest + new supporting cards helps make it a little more viable, especially against aggro.
For more meme decks, Quest Paladin is hilarious when it works. What's that? Infinite clones with Taunt, Lifesteal, Divine Shield, and strong Deathrattles? Sure thing! Only downside is I don't have Kangor's Endless Army which would definitely help.
You're right; I really meant something more like "a variant not focused on optimizing the quest reward". From what I've seen and read, most Paladin Quest players are taking that route at the expense of early game defense. Which, to your point, might result in overall lower winrate. I guess my point is: Making Mummies has the potential for arguably the strongest value from a single card provided that you A.) live long enough to complete the quest and B.) still have enough value-oriented cards left in your deck. If you're not satisfied with how it performs in late game, you always have the option of swapping in more value-focused cards to that goal.
I've always loved really slow Priest decks with resurrect mechanics. Been playing around with the quest and finding a good combination of cards to complete it in a timely manner and take best advantage of it. Seems like playing a bunch of valuable taunt minions and resurrecting them works pretty well, particularly Khartut Defender. Plague of Death is such a strong card.

I have beaten the good players of quest druid decks. It's not an overly strong deck. When they leave the board empty for so many turns you can use that to your advantage, too, depending on what deck you're playing. Of course, it's also possible to lose against them. But so far I'm not like, "OMG, nerf this thing!" It's a good deck, but it's beatable
I've had a lot of fun with Zoolock. At first I felt negative about it because at the beginning of the expansion it was just about the only thing I could build, but now I'm into it. I really want to try the new version of handlock, but I still don't have a Lord Godfrey
I'm a wild player so I have more deck to think about.....
My all time favourite was secret "perfect curve" paladin, a secret paladin deck based on the idea to play the perfect curve, the most powerfull card for every mana slot. Another one was highlander quest value priest, an highlander priest played before Raza nerf, based on the quest to survive and the inspire synergy to get value and close the match.
My wild secret aggro mage is a blast. I haven’t played wild in a while and went from 18 to 8 in 2 days.
Standard I think the most fun is highlander mage, but I think the puzzle box RNG is a big reason why. I’m also loving quest shaman, which for me is actually like 4 decks with different strats.
I’m probably going to craft some mogushan cultists soon. I love pulling off crazy combos. Was hoping to get lucky and pull at least one but I think I’m going to have to suck it up and craft
I'm seriously having a blast with Highlander Rogue + DK Valeera now: it feels DK Valeera was made for this.
Granted, been playing in Casual only, but beating a Renowock and an Odd QTaunt Warrior is not something a regular Rogue can easily do.
And i surely misplayed a lot more than i'm aware of too!
It's basically the first time i don't simply enjoy trying to refine a homebrew to viability, but also the refinement of my own skills at piloting it.
All this prompted by Zephrys the Great, and enhanced by Valeera the Hollow.
I'll never become a real Control player, but i'm enjoying this new level of complexity, beyond my usual Tempo style.
After the expansion has been out a week and i've played a ton of games.
For meta/competitive decks: Control warrior is my favorite and go to deck for legend and climbing the legend ladder. Dr Boom is obviously strong and fun to play (not as fun to play against ofc). I'm really impressed by how strong the taunt package is. I kind of wrote it off when they were revealed thinking that mage + quests would make control warrior take the full backseat to bomb warrior but I was wrong. The taunts are incredibly strong and you have one for each phase of the game. You ever played two Armagedillo and 3 buffed Tomb Wardens? Even warriors bad matchups can struggle with that. Warrior isn't even that bad against mage if Lunas isn't in the top third of their deck. Lunas on 5 means you're ded but you can grind reno mages out if they don't draw it because they only run one conj and one giant in deck.
Bomb warrior used to be my go to deck, and I may eventually go back to it but control warrior might just be stronger, and since bomb warrior gained only the mummy, i won't be too interested in it for a while since I already climbed to legend every month of ROS with it.
For fun decks: I haven't played a lot of "fun decks" but honestly the two that stand out to me as being the most fun are zoolock and quest shaman. The zoolock i play runs the full lackey package with the legendary and it's just nutty when you draw the right cards. Quest shaman is fun because lackeys and shudderwock are fun. and there are a lot of weird battlecry minions you can just slap in there and see what happens.
Standard
Quest Paladin, one of underestimated quest pre-launch. Completing quest with sticky defensive minion, and later to swarm board with much stickier zilliax-magnetized Mechano-Egg? yes please.
Wild
Cruel Dinomancer immortal combo deck. Its supposed to be meme-ish, but turned out to be quite oppressive and easy to pull off, and a lot of fun, reminding me the good old pre-nerf Dreadsteed.
Highlander mage is a lot of fun!
normally I can’t stand mage but the new Highlander mage is great as it has so many answers and swing turns but since they are one offs you can miss easily and misplay
Gets to legend then plays memes.
Rogue > all
Quest Paladin! Always loved deathrattle-style decks that let you flood your opponent with an endless tide of sticky minions. It also runs a lot of Uldum cards so it actually feels fresh compared to many of the other decks on ladder. Surprisingly effective too; took me from rank 7 to rank 5 with an unbroken winstreak. Control warriors just don't know what to do with all the minions.
I'd really love to play highlander mage but the deck is way too expensive for now.
