  • Uldum Warrior Card Reveal - Bloodsworn Mercenary

Definitely the best art so far. Double golden craft for me.

  • Turn 3 - Companion or Master's Call?

On turn 3, you’ll probably always play Animal Companion.

Master’s Call just wastes a turn and draws cards you don’t need that turn as your hand has 2-3 cards in it already. You sacrifice your tempo to draw cards you may have trouble playing after a tempo suicide like that, giving your opponent time to take the board back and breathe.

Compare that to Animal Companion, one of the best turn three plays on curve that still keeps a crazy amount of pressure? Yeah...

We did just discover an issue with javascript breaking on certain pages due to comment quotes and a fix for that will be arriving soon. That may have been the culprit for votes as well though I do know voting sometimes gets funky after you've replied to or quoted a post - a proper fix requiring a bit of a js rewrite for our voting stuff.

If you do encounter any issues with voting, or any interactivity. Make note of the page it failed to work on and check your developer console (F12) to see if there are any errors. Try refreshing the page and seeing if the error still occurs. Let us know how things go after that, making note of any specific errors greatly helping us track down issues.

  • Uldum Rogue Legendary Minion Reveal - Anka, the Buried

Time to waste dust on stupid decks

  • Turn 3 - Companion or Master's Call?

It strongly depends on the matchup, the rest of your hand and the board state. Two things to keep in mind : 1) When in doubt, play the tempo option. 2) If you're going to play Master's call, think about what minions you would want to draw and whether you can even play it/them on the following turn. EG you might as well fish for a hyena on turn 4 because you can't unleash + hyena until turn 5 anyway.

I tried a systematic approach to see what could trigger the bug but couldn't reproduce it again ... It did happen randomly a couple time this morning (10-11'ish, Pacific Time) while checking the new card reveal and the related discussion threads. The code however made it clear that the voting operation was successful, so we got that!
    So far so good? :P

  • Two Uldum Cards Revealed - Fishflinger & Tip the Scales

Yup. Many cards before and after K&C have a Recruit-like effect, and yet they don't use the keyword.

To be honest, the most boring Recruit cards are from K&C, even though it being a keyword allowed for more complex effects.

It's a Mill deck... how hard is that going to be to follow?

It is a mill deck but different from the regular mill you play myras which gives you the combo immediately. It is a bit hard to calculate, but i think once you play it a couple times it would be pretty easy, like the old toggwagle druid, except better, because you do the combo faster in rogue

Stop hoarding. 18 slots is plenty. You need to Marie kondo your hearthstone decks.

Just hope your opponent doesn't build up some armor...

But anyway, nice idea; it reminds that Hakkar/Togwaggle druid deck from last year

I updated the guide, now it should be clear to understand i guess

  • Why are we using Hearthcards mockups, while HearthPwn is using realistic card images?

    Thanks Flux.

Simply put, we don't have elements of the site designed with the "official" images in mind without resizing them - an extra step in the process, plus, we're just going to generate them all via the client anyway when the patch drops so as long as our placeholder images are "great enough", we're happy. Though I do know we're missing set icons on our currently generated cards, it is being looked into so we're fixed for the new set.

Knowing their plans with the card gallery though, it's likely we switch over to it for the next reveal period and I've already made some progression with it during the late night card reveals where you get 50 minutes between cards to work on stuff. With that said, they're not always on time with updating it though so Hearthcards is always going to be the go to until we have our own manual card rendering system in place.

  • Anka Hakkar-Togwaggle OTK Rogue

It's a Mill deck... how hard is that going to be to follow?

  • Turn 3 - Companion or Master's Call?

It is entirely based on your situation.  If you have no board presence, you NEED something on the board so Animal Companion is your best option.  However, if you:
    1) do have minions on the board

    2) think you're playing against a control deck

    3) need more options in your hand

Then it is a good idea to play Master's Call.

I would suggest that you be cognizant of the beasts in your deck compared to what you have in your hand and what you're playing against.  If you play against a deck that has a lot of board wipe, holding onto that Vicious Scalehide or [Hearthstone Card (spring paw) Not Found] so you can drop a Dire Frenzy on it in the same time is valuable.

  • Why are we using Hearthcards mockups, while HearthPwn is using realistic card images?

    Staff

I'm not saying this is an issue. I'm simply just wondering why this is the case.

To demonstrate what I mean, let's look at the reveal threads for the recently revealed, Anka, the Buried.

    https://outof.cards/hearthstone/200-uldum-rogue-legendary-minion-reveal-anka-the-buried

    https://www.hearthpwn.com/news/6818-legendary-rogue-card-revealed-anka-the-buried

The image we're using is on the left which is a mockup made on Hearthcards, whereas the image HearthPwn is using is on the right which is a certified picture of the real card, presumably found on the Saviors of Uldum website. You can tell they are different by the font used for the name of the card, and the way some of the shading looks.

So my question is that if HearthPwn is using images of the real cards for most of their cards during this reveal season, why are we not doing the same thing? It's not an issue, I'm just wondering why it's like this.

  • Saviors of Uldum

I can see what you mean, it kind of wastes some space on either side of the cards, at least on my S8+. Maybe there is something we can do about that. Thanks for the suggestion!

    Edit: It is done.

  • Saviors of Uldum

It's possible that's just a simple bug, but it was confirmed in the announcement for the expansion that there will be 135 cards. We'll take a look at that, but you can count on every card ending up here!

  • Unlimited Deck Slots

18 slots is a joke for a game with 9 chars and 2 game modes.

  • New Paladin Spell - Tip the Scales

    Quote From Kovachut
    Quote From Wailor

    I don't get it :((

I'm not a native speaker, btw

Same here, but according to some dictionaries the idiom means the following:

    https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/tip-the-balance-scales

If something tips the balance or tips the scales, it is the thing that causes a particular situation to happen or a particular decision to be made, when other situations or decisions are possible:

e.g. She was a good candidate, but her lack of computer skills tipped the scales against her.

Building off of this, "scales" are a series of rigid plates on the body of a fish or reptile (which Murlocs resemble).

In addition to that, a "scale" can also be a device to measure the weight of an object, or to compare the weight of one object to another. If an object on one side is heavier than an object on the other side, the scale will "tip" towards the side of the heavier object. The idiom "tip the scales" refers to such a situation like this, as the events "tipped" towards one side, so to speak.

In the context of this card, the name "tip the scales" references the idiom, while also alluding to both of the above definitions of the word "scale" at the same time.

Lots of quotations in this post, lol.

  • New Neutral Minion - Desert Obelisk

It's a super cool design. I don't know how to make it work in a viable deck in standard, but I'm so down if someone finds a way.

  • New Paladin Spell - Tip the Scales

In standard I could see it being used in a Shirvallah OTK deck where you use murlocs to fight for board in the early game, play this in the mid/late game to thin the deck, and then end it with Holy Wrath.

  • Uldum Rogue Legendary Minion Reveal - Anka, the Buried

Anka, the Buried seems like a pretty cool card. It's a little bit odd - typically you want to transform understated minions with high power battlecries into 1/1s, where as deathrattles are slow and vulernable, but this does pretty trivially enable a Mecha'thun combo in a class that has access Myra's Unstable Element and other excellent card draw tools. Also a nice tool for less powerful (but still excellent deathrattles) like Mechanical Whelp and Splitting Festeroot, but you'd probably still avoid the latter because Anka is a one-of, and you'd hate to play that without any cost reduction.

  • New Paladin Spell - Tip the Scales

Good for wild with anyfin (possibly instead of finja), without more support in standard I don't see it happening though. Best maybe with baleful banker you could make a burst with warleaders and bluegills but it's a bit too luck dependant I think

  • Vote buttons not working on certain threads/comments

This does happen from time to time. I am not sure exactly what conditions are required for this but i can tell you that if you get that white page the vote was still recorded, it just opened a page with a small bit of code instead of the buttons visually updating as normal.

Hopefully we can get this bug pinned down sooner than later. I don't believe we have figured out how to reproduce it yet; if anyone can certainly let us know!
