  • What's your fastest run time in this weeks tavern brawl?

Got to 19 minutes.. heard some people got 11 minutes the APM is real.

Of course with dr. boom and hand of rafaam

I find that hard to believe, even if you are the best HS player, the best fast reader and have the quickest hands in the world, the time between the games sill on itself take several minutes and then the bosses take time playing out their turns, and 8 bosses, that will stack up. And if you are using Hand of Rafaam "tactic", the animations will slow it down too. You would have to be winning like on T3 vs every boss and maybe even that wont make 11 minutes. I call BS. Around 20 i can believe, 11 i do not.

Your faith is weak, sinti. I believe I once saw like 9 minutes in twitter, but my mind might be fooling me. I was able find a 13 minutes screenshot anyway, from China.

My personal record is 21 mins but that was with a bad mouse and sub-optimal treasures, I might go and try to get below 20 before the brawl ends.

But those 13 mins is with Rogue=Togwaggle ... that is a very different story than with Rafaam and question of this topic is "this weeks TB", so id assume we are talking about Rafaam only. If you get Bag of Coins with rogue every game, yes, you can get it down to some ridiculous fast runs.

This gives me an "oblisk of light" vibe from command and conquer. Am i the only one?

    - NEW CARDS -

    1=Excellent, 2=Good, 3=Average, 4=Poor, 5=Terrible

Desert Obelisk (5): Unplayable card. You will never have 3 of these in arena. And if you by some miracle do, you already won anyway.

Riftcleaver (1): Wow. That is one insane card. Obliterate on a stick, literally. Demon tag matters too for bonus synergy. Just wow.

  • Unlimited Deck Slots

What does MTG Arena have? I know for a fact you're not saying they have unlimited deck slots, unless that's something they added recently, because I've hit the limit before.

  • New Neutral Minion - Desert Obelisk

Nah, I don't think this would create a new Star Aligner druid simply because the damage is dealt to a random target. You might have 3 of those and a Drakkari Enchanter on the board, but unless the opponent's board is empty (somehow), the win is not guaranteed. That said, I would like to try this card out. I don't know what kind of deck I would play - Glinda Crowskin/Plot Twist warlock, Cube hunter (btw gratz for the creativity, guys) - but I would certainly try one of those combos, if I acquire both copies from packs.

Also, I adore the idea of having obelisks in hs. If you think about it, those add to the fantasy of the game. Because suddenly you don't force minions to kill the enemies, you build structures in a desert, which become active once they form a geometric shape (a triangle, square, pentagon....), and then a Drakkari Enchanter fulfills some kind of an ancient ritual and enhances their power even further.

  • Uldum Warlock Card Reveal - Riftcleaver

It's a demon.  It has decent stats.  It can serve a useful function.  I like the card.

  • Uldum Warlock Card Reveal - Riftcleaver

Healing is overrated, hp is a resource. You destroy a minion that would otherwise deal damage to you, tempo is more important than face damage, besides warlock has healing tools just not a good win condition, or long term plan.. Lord J is sadly too weak atm.

  • Uldum Warlock Card Reveal - Riftcleaver

    Destroy a minion> summon 2/1s though.

  • Uldum Card Reveal - Desert Obelisk

Wonder why they found that this card is too strong at 4 mana, or how they landed on having 3 copies of this before it does a weakened ragnaros effect.

Seems too much of a meme card, as a poster above said, it's easier to replicate leeroy.  Unless there is a card that duplicates 0 attack cards easily.

  • Uldum Warlock Card Reveal - Riftcleaver

    Hello arena filler

  • New Rogue Minion - Bazaar Mugger

Well it will be nice to see a new minion on the board from rogue once in a while, all I see now is pirates, burglars, oversized van Cleef's and LOTS of irritating lackeys.

  • New Neutral Minion - Desert Obelisk

I think any class can do this in 2 turns, say on turn 9 play one, then on turn 10 (if it survived) clone them using the copy guys.

Mage can first make them cost 1 mana with galaxy, then play 2 of them in one turn and copy both giving 4 on board for 20 random damage. However, I think with galaxy spell the staraligner combo is much easier to pull off for mage using ping, mountain giants conjuring etc. (I have a deck for that and it triggers more than I expected).

I am wondering if the not being a battlecry but end-of-turn effect makes it easier to achieve?

  • Uldum Warlock Card Reveal - Riftcleaver

The only thing that Warlock misses now is a great way to heal.

Plot Twist with Fel Lord Betrug is sweet but if Bomb Warrior is popular (and with those Highlander decks around it should be) it could backfire most of the times

Would the effect trigger even if two of the copies are silenced? Play the card and hope it doesn't die, then play Unsleeping Soul on it and drop another copy. Now you have 3 copies but two of it are silenced.

If it does work, will it still do 15 damage or just 5 from the unsilenced one?

Well, the 15 damage are from 5 damage x 3 obelisk, so I'd say definately 5 damage, the unsilenced one does is stuff because he feels the other 2 silenced ones on board, but they can't do anything.

  • New Warlock Minion - Riftcleaver

Here is where those 1--1 cheapo's in your deck come in handy.

  • New Warlock Minion - Riftcleaver

I like it. This is another tool for control warlocks, if we get more healing tools.

I also think, that this demon could potentially fit in a zoolock deck. Maybe not in the current list, which consists of many 1-drops for Magic Carpet, but certainly in something more mid-rangy. Having the ability to answer a big threat while also developing one is a massive tempo swing. Back in the day, shamans used to run Fire Elementals for the exact same reason - now, I won't deny that those can also deal some face damage, but imho the ability to kill a big minion is greater than a 3-damage ping.

  • Uldum Warlock Card Reveal - Riftcleaver

I can imagine this would be a fantastic tool in some Reno locks. Perhaps even core?

If this set is filled with these "removal/other effect on a stick" cards then maybe highlander decks in standard won't be that bad...?

Well you see, this card can easily destroy a certain obelisk with no drawback at all.

Your hero takes damage equals to its Health, not the Attack.

  • Uldum Warlock Card Reveal - Riftcleaver

I acually don't think it's that strong statted at all; easy removal for Militia Commander, Dyn-o-matic, Kill Command, Unleash the Beast etc, at least with the drawback it has it better be 6/6 imho. But i like destroy ability.

  • New Warlock Minion - Riftcleaver

  • Uldum Warlock Card Reveal - Riftcleaver

Well this card stats remind me of a certain classic neutral legendary sadly..

  • Uldum Card Reveal - Desert Obelisk

Only this costs 5(!) times as much as Pogo hopper and can't realistically even get to 5 attack.

  • Conversation w/ Dean Ayala (Iksar)

Well, you can say that Skulking Geist is a jade hate card and I can understand that but it also save people from Inner Fire bullshit, which is really frustrating to see from beta to 5th year.

As soon as it has gone to wild, Inner Fire decks appeared again.

I don't think Skulking Geist was only about Jade Druid. All Malygos decks are using 1-cost spells, Power Overwhelming was also a problematic card as a 1-cost card but it moved to HoF before Skulking Geist but it will be a solution to Power Overwhelming too like Conceal, Ice Lance or any other which i can't remember right now.

it also deletes Shield Slam, all of Paladin Secrets, Evolve, Deadly Poison and Naturalize and other impactful cards which I can't remember right now. If it would stay in standard, it would also help against Crystology, Grim Rally, Magic Trick, Ray of Frost, and Togwaggle's Scheme.

Like how mana cheating is a problematic mechanic for Hearthstone, Low costed - High Valued cards are also problematic too.

It can be said that almost all 1-cost minions can be problematic one day. Best example is Fire Fly. In the Year of the Mammoth, almost all decks have it. There are other problematic examples too,

    Undertaker, Mana Wyrm etc.

Anyway, the subject here is Skulking Geist, I agree that it was created to counter Jade Idol but it was not a hate card. It is a simple tech card. Unlike you, I liked Skulking Geist's concept, I like its combo disruption + game plan disruption ability also a removal remover. I don't think that it ended as an Idol-Hate card.

  • New Warlock Minion - Riftcleaver

"Destroy a minion", not "destroy an enemy minion" so sometimes you could be forced to destroy your own minion.

  • Uldum Warlock Card Reveal - Riftcleaver

Wow! This card is premium! Not only it is Obliterate with a body but a body with strong stats! Love it!
