You know what at the very least if they want to lock the ability to pick between 4 heroes behind a paywall, the least they can do is properly balance all of them. I'm liking the changes that they did so far, but they need to do it more constantly.
I also like the new hero designs and reworks. They're a lot more interesting than how they did heroes before.
Still really bummed down for runestones though. Won't be surprised if there's going to be an exodus of players because of this.
Took them this long to realise that king krush is more likely to kill himself than actually accomplishing anything useful.
Sadly its simply not enough, even with his monstrous attack. PvP have no use for him, and PvE enemies now sport so much damage, even on blues, that even gaining 5 health per attack will still end up with a dead dino 90% of the time. Should've made it immune while attacking quite frankly, because why not? Krush is about as useless as it gets, especially considering that Ysharaaj is just objectively the better choice.
I liked the Buddy system because it gave me a reason to replay all the heroes, even if I wasn't interested in them before. Even boring heroes like Patchwerk could be more interesting because now I get to try their buddy. While Quests are interesting, and I will be playing more BG to try out different quests and rewards, I feel like it doesn't do the same thing for revitalizing boring heroes.
Judging by how they did it with diablo immortal, most of the best products would probably be about 100-200 runestones off the 500 round number. There's probably ways to earn these in-game, in such a way to encourage spending. I dont think we'll see those 50 runestone fuckyou deals but who can say, its certainly not beyond them at this point.
I'm very late, but I finally came up with a refined version of Razuvious.
I like this a lot more, and fitting within the rules always helps, too :D I have but one niggle: the Poisonous/Unholy Rune costs 2 when the others cost 1. This feels weird; I'd honestly have it cost 1.
I thought it was a bit too strong, considering you are potentially able to get basic Runes multiple times. I might make it cost 1, though.
This game now has lootboxes (like they always have), 2 entire season rewards subscriptions, and a premium currency to obfuscate that you're paying for gambling and will probably be priced just right so that you always have to pay for more than what you need because it's purchased in bundles, on top of the incredibly obvious power creep that they stopped pretending like they care about, because games being decided on turn 3 is "fun".
I... I think I'm done... I think I'm done with this game... We can't keep pretending like this game doesn't treat us like garbage...
Radiant Strike is just outdated and bad... so I hope you aren't serious to compare new cards to it. If Radiant Strike was a new card it also would also give tough but then... let's just accept that there are bad cards in the game
I wonder if we need better terminology than what "F2P" and "P2W" entail. Usually when I hear that something is "pay to win", I imagine that if I want to pay a few dollars per month then I'll lose to the person who drops $1000 on it. In this case, that's not true. There is a cost, and it does give you an advantage, but you can't just keep paying to progress. One minor (but real) boost for a minor cost, and that's all.
I think this could be a very healthy model. Games need people to pay for them, and the free tier is there to help bring in customers. In most F2P games, that's become a predatory system where they hope to find whales who will sink hundreds or thousands of dollars per year. In this case, I believe they max you out at $4/month. They're not trying to manipulate anyone into maxing out their credit card. That actually sounds great to me.
We need to call things what they are. Free Battlegrounds is a demo mode, perfect for new or casual players. If you play a lot, then the full game costs $4/month, and you have no worries that someone else can beat you by spending more. That sounds great! But Blizzard is unwilling to call it that, because they (correctly) fear the revolt that will happen if they say the free mode is only supposed to be casual. A side effect of all the manipulation from F2P games over the years is that many people have learned that these games should be free. And since Battlegrounds started out free, Blizzard has done nothing to prepare anyone for this approach.
Damn why is Catch! so much better than Radiant Strike lmao. Not only does it do something else other than +1/+1, it's also technically in three regions (if you want to count Weaponmaster as one).
I'm very late, but I finally came up with a refined version of Razuvious.

They are constantly saying that they want to make all heroes viable, and in this rare area i am inclined to believe them, even tho it is certainly not an easy task. But when buddies were in, i didnt have perks and was only being able to pick from 2 heroes and i never felt like i was robbed of something, even if i didnt get the arguably better heroes, i still had tons of fun and did reasonably well, and was getting top4 or winning, even with potential underdogs. I wonder if quests will help to level the playing field once more.
After last week discussions I changed my mind. 4 hero choice is a small edge, one you can make if f2p-players have to earn it with gold. It also feels like fun is being taken from f2p-players, so I understand the frustration.
I wonder how this turns out in the long run, because we dont have actual stats about playerbase and players with tavern passes.
So it's confirmed: improvise is the LoR version of living weapon.
That's an insane consistancy boost for any equipment synergy deck and i am quite sure that both Fireth, Reaper of the Sands and Ionian Hookmaster will do great work in the equipment archetype
I'm very late, but I finally came up with a refined version of Razuvious.
I took Shaman's basic Totems as inspiration for these basic Runes: they are token spells with very basic effects that can be generated by several DK cards.
Since you'll be able to generate many of these during a single game, I made them weaker than a collectible card. This, in turn, turn allowed me to combine the effects of both previous versions without it being broken.
Finally, there would be other collectible Runes with more complex effects.
Late feedback:
BloodMefist
I like Painsmith Raznal more. Most self-damage cards are quite aggro for obvious reasons, so it's refreshing to see a control oriented one. Balance is hard to judge without seeing the support for it, so I'd say it's fine.
Lord Marrowgar seems to have a very weak payoff for a very harsh tribute, so I'd probably swap Taunt for Lifesteal. Even then, I don't enjoy burn effects, so I'd still go with Raznal.
linkblade91
Izelair is my favorite of your cards, but it's hard to know how balanced she is. On the one hand, healing and gaining Attack are strategies that go in opposite directions. On the other hand, I'm still worried this could get out of hand too easily, as she's a Vessina with a stackable effect. I might nerf her to a 2/4 or even a 4 Mana 3/5.
FooBars
I think they're both a bit too wordy, but the base effect is interesting. I'd probably make a new version with the following text, using Aegwynn, the Guardian as inspiration:
"Rush. After this attacks and kills a minion, summon a copy of it that inherits these powers."
or even simpler:
"Rush. After this attacks and kills a minion, summon a copy of it with Rush."
Moondreamer
I really like your new Lord Marrowgar. He would probably be fine as a 3/6, as his effect depends on doing something detrimental. Also, not sure if he's the best character for this effect, so I'd suggest finding a more Frost-centric character.
