Skeletons aren't the only spooky thing about the deck. As any good prosecutor will tell you, there's nothing spookier than a Solid Alibi. And I believe it was Edgar Allan Poe who said, "The spookiest thing on this planet is a good pun." Kael'thas Sinstrider. Game, set, match.
Besides, what are we going to call the inevitable Skeleton/Elemental hybrid decks, if not "Skelly"?
Flavourwise the mechanic is fine and I don't say it's necessarily bad but...
granting units/equipments +1/+1 that... is not exiting at all especially if that is ALL the mechanic does.
We proably will see more payoff with ornn and other support cards tomorrow so maybe it's getting more interesting... I hope so because so far it's about as exiting of a mechanic as chimes were
Hey! I posted my Hearthstone custom set today in the card discussion forum, and unfort, unately all the images had the wrong link, so it didn't work. I started updating them with the right link, and it worked fine this time. But while I was adding the other links, my thread got deleted. It's annoying enough because this is the second time I've tried to post it (I had connection problems the first time), but even though I still have the text in a file, it takes a lot of time to do the formatting, and it's not nice to have all your work killed in 2 minutes. I want to know if there was a specific reason to delete it, besides the fact that it was not working. I don't want to get upset a third time (if I still dare try again).
Do you hear that sound in the tavern? Look, it's Toki! She's playing at her favorite role-playing campaign, Trouble in Thunder Bluff! And she gathered well-known characters to play with her!
"Everyone! Listen! If I gathered you there, it's to help the Taurens of Thunder Bluff to protect their city against the Venture Company! Their president, Razdunk, wants to take their territory to build a mine there! Will you defeat him? Or will you fall against the goblins and their machines? Let's start playing!"
Trouble in Thunder Bluff brings a brand new mechanic, Abilities! The abilities are a new type of card that are added to your hand when you play an ability minion. You can play them like spells, however, if the minion dies, they disappear from your hand. These cards are not spells so they are not affected by spell damage or similar effects. You can see the health of the minion to whom they belong in the bottom-right corner of the card.
And you saw it, a new type of minions, the Taurens! They will mostly have a synergy with locations. You can expect to see them in the Druid, Paladin, Shaman, and Priest classes! On top of that, each player has their own legendary card and a role-playing spell that refers to an action of a role-playing game.
And there she is, the promotional card, Toki, the Game Master!
Toki allows you to choose one of 4 quests at the start of the game. The quest is automatically played for both players. That means that each player can complete the quest. If your opponent also plays Toki, the second player will also choose a quest among the 3 remainings, so both players will have 2 quests!
And that's it for the presentation! Here are the cards:

And that's it, I hope you liked it! The set is not complete yet, the mini set will arrive soon! Good luck and have fun on your Hearthstone games!
I think it's a pretty neat mechanic, specifically because it's thematic of what blacksmiths would do. Buff one equipment to oblivion and use it to win the game. It turns cards like Demacian Steel into something that can be potentially useful by having a cheap equipment buffed and attaching it onto an overwhelm unit or something else.
I mean this is now basically the official confirmation that Ornn is the fifth champion and that forge is exactly what snnuy already expect it to be.
It's a potentially strong mechanic, the only issue here is that it feels much of a win more mechanic and not so much of a mechanic that can turn games or would provide an alternative way to use it. It's straightforward proably quite strong but not really very interesting imo

Secrets Rogue in 2022?! Fun times! An off-meta deck that can build a board, shuffle your opponent's cards back into their deck, and offer you random secrets!
I suspect that the reason Earth doesn't have lizards with tits is that most lizards (and the lizard-hipped dinosaurs) are so low to the ground that those mammary glands would drag in a very uncomfortable way, lol. Might they fare better in a marine environment?
But you're right, Azeroth biology is not bound to Earth's guidelines.
And the naga aren't exactly "filling an ecological niche" since we know they are the result of N'Zoth's shadow magic. The individuals that used to be elves would probably have lots of vestiges of their warm-blooded, land-dwelling existence.
I think that new generations of naga would probably lose those vestiges as they adapt to their life in the cold deep.
What would that look like? How often does a species with a 10,000 year lifespan even bother to have offspring?
The “spooky” part of those Mage lists is the skeletons! Therefore, “Spooky” is interchangeable with “Skeleton”, or “Skelly” for short. Which leads us to the name Skelly Mage.
From what I understand, classic has so few real players that blizz introduced their own bots in an attempt to lessen the matchmaking time. You'll know its a blizz bot if there's no uniform highlighting around the cards, heros and hero powers, something alot of real players are doing when botting the game.
Of course, blizz bots are fairly notorious for their lack of sophistication that Im not surprised if its illogically playing cards. Im fairly convinced that blizz bots only know how to pilot basic decks, so anything that's above a common card would probably generate a fk up every now and then.
Wild bottom ranks are filled with bots too and also alot of extra helpful cards, so if youre looking to finish up those purposefully tedious achievements, join the club and go hunt around bronze wild. There's no reason to play classic beyond nostalgia anyway.
See I never get this criticism. Just because they have reptilian features doesn't mean they need to function fully like reptiles. Mammary glands are there to nurse offspring, nothings says that a species of reptile-humanoid hybrids can't lay eggs and then nurse the hatchlings.
If a Platypus can lay eggs while being a mammal I don't see why we can't have lizards with tits.
Yea, I hope they will be able to revive a lot of games. Seems this is one of the few companies having an actual long term goal/view, compared to others that only want some quick heavy gains.
My faith in the gaming industry just got a bit up.
You want to play this card early, but it's a colossal tempo loss to do so. Remember all those competitive decks that used Out of the Way? Yeah, me neither.
Compared to permanent buff spells like Take Heart or Blessing of Targon, this seems largely superior. The fact that it's an equipment card you can play again if the original wielder dies, can provide a lot of value, which is welcome in a region with poor card draw options and only The Howling Abyss as a value engine.
Overwhelm units such as Scarmaiden Reaver could make good use of this, and this could have good Ornn synergies.
That depends on your definition. I know that Raphterra climbed to Masters with Maokai Bard Undying. That's a deck that was popular for a short while only because TealRed popularized it and he made adjustments to it before people tried playing it and realizing it had pretty horrendous winrates.
