I don't really like Conjurer Mage in Wild: while in Standard you have a very small pool of minions from which you'll summon your board, on Wild there are too many suboptimal option that will pop up making the deck's best play less powerfull. I'm not saying that the deck won't work, but I think it's more a Tier 3 than a 2.
Giggling Inventor is too slow against aggro: turn 7 never come sometimes (unlucky draw in the early turns are there, always too often).
Pyroblast is another card that will make you cry if drawn early in the match, becoming absolutly a dead weight.
A bit less than half deck are 1x cards, making it a bit less consistent without adding too much in terms of raw value.
Imho, you should put more early game removal against aggro by removing some of the 1x that have lesser synergy with your deck's plan (like Arcane Artificer).
Figured we should have a thread to share tips and strategies for the latest and IMO greatest solo adventure. Having a lot of fun with this one despite lots of losses! After hitting my head against the wall trying to beat chapter 1 on heroic, I finally managed it using an odd deck I didn't think would work.
Started trying to go for an inspire deck since you'll get lots of use out of the Burning Wit hero power, but after getting Scepter as my 2nd treasure I went for big minions. Ended up with a nice mix of big spells and legendary minions. Managed to get lucky and pull EVIL Propaganda as the spell to reduce cost in one of the bartender stages, and had a "reduce random card to zero cost" proc on a Sunreaver Warmage. Most fights were over quickly thanks to lots of removal and early play of big minions that were hard to deal with like Sneed's Old Shredder and Rhonin.
Can't remember who I had for the first 6 bosses, but the last three were Ar'ha, Noz and Gallywix of course. Here's how I handled them:
Ranger Ar'ha was easy. I let her fill her board with 1 and 2 attack creatures, didn't kill the coin cache, and just went straight for face with my higher attack minions. She went for face too, but with such low attack minions she couldn't kill me first. Seems like her AI isn't coded to sacrifice her weak minions to make room for stronger battlecries.
Noz Timbertail was a tough fight early, but I managed to steal his board which included Shaku, the Collector using an early EVIL Propaganda. After that I played Giggling Inventor to protect Shaku and kept stealing his rogue cards which were great for keeping his board clear. I managed to get an Ogre Ninja which got the +2 attack from his hero power and that sealed the game.
Gallywix was very difficult. Had to be careful and play around his hero power by making sure the first card I played each turn was one I didn't mind him copying. Probably very obvious strategy, but when you play a regular coin as the first card he will copy that and replace it with a Gallywix coin. Helped me get out some good minions early. Ended up stealing a Burgly Bully with Sylvanas Windrunner later in the fight to gain some extra coins to bait out his hero power.
Hope this is interesting and/or helpful. Look forward to seeing other folks post their strategies! I'm working on Chapter 2 Heroic right now, will post back with more if there's interest.
Yes, some people have real problems with emotes. Those of us who believe in common courtesy don't mind a greeting at the beginning of a match or a respectful "well played" at the end of the match. Insecure people are offended by any and everything.
That said, I never accept friend requests right off. Give it an hour or so. If they really want to be friends… cool. If they were just hot, they probably have gotten offended five more times since then and won't remember who you are.
Well, as it is an echo an can be buffed, for the first time you drop it, it certainly is a finisher. The 9 dmg at least + buffs will serve well after you drop the kangor's but i agree not b4 so it could stay in hand at times which could be bad.
Why even bother adding those people in the first place? It's well known when you win against someone and get a friend request, 99% of the times you get flamed at.
Yeah thats what I do , I just use the thank you emote at the end of the game if it wasn't particularly well played, it's still good to be decent to a fellow player.
Of course that and everything else could be taken the wrong way if they're already tilted due to randomness or whatever. Saying "well met" at the end especially can be taken the wrong way, even if it was an accidental wrong emote. That one can be re-themed to be "welcome to the game, you're obviously new because you're bad" etc
Last month rogue rogue rogue. This month hunter hunter hunter. And a Murloc shaman or two. I'm getting irritated. Every time I queue up a game I'm like, "I bet it's a hunter" and there he is, Rexxar. It's like that movie about saying "Candyman" three times at the mirror.
Do you think if we look into a mirror and say "Huntard" three times we will get smacked with a steady shot? Or maybe run over by a hound while a hyena gains health and attack in the background?
even tough im more a fan of Hearthstone right now i played MTG for almost 15 years and read lot´s of books about the Storys etc.
I excited to see some of the MTG Lore on TV - i would have prefered it more as an Real Life Adaption but i guess some sort of Anime/Animation is fine too - as long as they make it good :) :)
What sort of things lead you to construct the decks that you do?
New cards, combos I see others pull off, the desire to be creative.
What are some common strategies and combinations that you really enjoy playing and iterating on?
I like cycling draw effects. Lots of card plays that result in a big impact. Those tend to please me the most. I love combos, especially when a deck has lots of different synergies in it so it can go in many different directions.
Do you prefer building new lists from the ground up, or iterating on existing archetypes?
I prefer doing it from the ground up, but folks are so creative they tend to beat me to the cool ideas so I often lift combos and mechanics from other decks and then tweak them to my own playstyle.
Has the meta ever influenced you to try building something new to counter it?
Oh yes. If a deck is really obnoxious I will almost always build counters for it even if they aren't that great overall in the meta.
When you get an idea, does it typically involve a particular strategy, or do you focus on a card you like to build around?
Its usually for a given card. But sometimes I just try an old stand by and see how it works using the current card set. Some decks like spell damage druid are almost always fun to play around with due to the core card set supporting the archetype.
Do you make use of tech cards often, or just play a particular list as is?
I tech for the meta somewhat. It sucks to have no answer to a popular deck.
The only times I don't "Well Played" is when my opponent clearly made some big mistakes and lost the game because of them. It seems like the wrong thing to say in that situation. But otherwise, it just seems like saying "Thanks for playing with me." Perhaps that's what they need as an emote...
People can seem to take nearly anything in a bad light. Those folks should all mute emotes by default.
The only emoting that rubs me wrong is when they spam emotes at me. Then I just mute them. But this is really rare.
Players like you are the reason why I like the game. Emoting is a "friendly" exchange in my mind. I will always send the "Well Played" emote if I see that I was outplayed. When it gets to the upper ranks, everyone is playing the same deck, and MAYBE teching a little different based on what they are seeing mostly.
I come from a card playing background in MTG and was a judge for DCI for a while. I can tell you, for the most part, good sportsmanship goes a long way for us. Keep it and don't add "friends" right away when they send you a request. If they genuinely want to be friends with you, wait a few days then accept. By that time, if they were just being a salty jerk, they probably have forgotten by that time.
Mech Hunter is already strong, this might push it over the top (hope to be wrong) I also see a possible inclusion of necromantic (the buffed version) possibly in mech deathrattle Hunter. But that's one I'm less sure off
Edit: freezing trap is a great counter ;-)
Yes, Mech-Hunter will defenitely add this one and sure it is strong now and i think even a little bit stronger with Snip-Snap in it!
I actually love making decks... although so few work out for laddering. They are mostly trying to find uses for useless cards or ones that are typically only good for Area. I'm still trying to find a way to make Immortal Prelate worth playing in a tier 1-2 deck. Although with the buffs coming tomorrow, this may be more likely.
Context - I was playing token druid, opponent was on bomb warrior. I was rank 6, 5 stars; he was rank 5.
On turn 2, I went face instead of trading with his Loot Hoarder, allowing him a free trade with my Dire Wolf Alpha. I'm fully aware that this looks like a mistake, but against a warrior, it's extremely important to get in as much damage as possible as early as possible with token druid, due to board wipe potentials. So I know it looks foolish, but I do it anyways. He emotes, "That was a mistake." I think I muted him.
I do, in fact win the game. Apparently he didn't have board wipes. I think I emoted "well played," because I always do that. To me, it's meant to be a polite way to end a game. Am I crazy to think it's polite to end a game with "well played"? Should I just never emote? Anyways, here's what happened after the game. The filtered words are f-bombs. (Side note: I'm married and have two children.)
Edit: Apparently I am inept at using the image insertion feature. Basically he screamed at me for emoting and then unfriended. I friended him again to inform him he did first, and he screamed some more. Here's the image link: Screen Capture of the comments
If you say "Well Played" in a lop sided train wreck on his behalf that is honestly bad manners. It's the same as saying GG after winning a game where you clearly wrecked the other team. GG means "Good Game". It's not a good game if the other team gets wrecked. Plus its honestly an extreme BM move to mute him yet emote yourself, that is extremely childish.
I never say "well played" if I am about to win. Only the person about to lose should say it. I myself say Well Played when I know I lost. Being married or having children doesn't mean you are an expert in social intelligence. If I legit want to be an asshole I do in fact spam "Well played" if I think I clearly won this game and I think he is wasting his time. Well played is for the loser to say.
I would even say you were trying to be a jerk if you friended him again. Especially if you sent something like, "You tried your best ;D" You should just drop it and move on. You are literally putting salt on the wounds.
That´s just plain wrong - at least in my oppinion! In sports or even E-Sports it´s common courtesy to say GG after a game even if you got destroyed. That has nothing to do with bad manners ... bad manners would be something like "HAHAHAHA GG you losers" for example but a simple GG is not bad manners!
And saying Well Played because the Game was as the emote stated well played is also not wrong - sure there are people out there who will see everything as bad manners against them but that is simply their fault and not the persons who is using said emote!
I once had a discussion about the Greetings Emote at the beginning of a match - there are people who say that the Greetings at the start is also BM .... ...
I always accept friend requests after a game careless if i won or lost - some people vent or scream , others talk normal about the deck or the game etc.
If someone feels better after screaming and deleting so be it - i personaly don't get bothered by that :)
Questions to those who enjoy building decks in Hearthstone:
What sort of things lead you to construct the decks that you do?
What are some common strategies and combinations that you really enjoy playing and iterating on?
In the past, which mechanics or interactions really caught your attention and made you want to try them yourself?
Do you prefer building new lists from the ground up, or iterating on existing archetypes?
Has the meta ever influenced you to try building something new to counter it?
When you get an idea, does it typically involve a particular strategy, or do you focus on a card you like to build around?
For me, flavor is king, when homebrewing.
Typically, I start from a theme, as described by some cards (variable amount) that happen to fit the same deck, and have some potential to survive the meta in some deck.
It might be either a brand new concept, an old concept adapted, or the customisation of an existing deck, with the package of cards as above (with further tweaks if necessary).
I never start from current meta. Instead, I try to adjust and tweak my original plan accordingly, sometimes with techs, but rarely with hard-techs, more typically with cards that happen to counter the meta. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
Group Therapy! Need to blow off some steam? Mega salty? Here's the place!
Salty that I can't finish Heroic 3 or even Normal 4. Cruise to both final bosses just to get crushed after so much time investment...

Five Day 1 Decks Featuring SN1P-SN4P & Buffed Cards You Don't Want to Miss
Gran contenido!! gracias.
Wild Viable Conjure's Calling Mage
You do have good tools against Aggro, but no draw power to unlock synergies: you'll hardly be able to fend off Aggro, wave by wave (of tokens).
I'm not saying the concept is trash, but I'm pretty sure it needs more refinement to be viable in the meta.
ie. on top of no card draw, you have too many one-ofs.

After hitting my head against the wall trying to beat chapter 1 on heroic, I finally managed it using an odd deck I didn't think would work.
