Ladder experiences are driven by heroes and Villains. You as the deck brewer have something to prove you want to beat that meta deck into the ground everyone else says is so op, but what happens when there are no villains anymore.

Lor is a fascinating case study because it is essentially the most balanced digital card game in existence to the extent that they will never need to rotate cards and only live balance changes will effect potential deck performance outcomes.

Case and point, Pirate aggro! People stopped playing this deck largely out of boredom but it still puts up numbers I'm talking 57% percent winrates currently right now making it essentially one of the best decks in the game.

But it isn't a villain and it's isn't played enough to be worth counter brewing against and very little satisfaction comes from beating it.

Lee Sin by comparison is not an amazing deck hovering between 51 and 52 percent winrate but it's play patterns are dynamic enough to stick in the mind of the looser.

You are getting beaten 100% when Lee Sin kicks you down to 0. My point is for me personally I find myself playing LOR far more when there is essentially a boss deck to beat, and far less when people can run any midrange soup and win.

Don't pressure the devs to hotfix too fast in the future, enjoy each stage of the meta as it progresses, and let things breathe a bit...otherwise it's just gonna be Bilgewater for literally the next 10 years of this games life cycle.

Post buffs the most exciting deck I wanted to explore was mono shurima.

Basically carrying on the back of three important changes. Sun disc is free now, empire ascended is 6 mana and xerath got a point of health.

All of this means we can meme with movie time and lose less often.

So this is the version I settled on tripple Azir tripple Xerath feel best. One buffs your deck the other puts your opponent on a clock.

The next problem to solve is A how do we have board presence and B how do we remove stuff so the opponent doesn't steam roll us. Problem C how do we protect Champs and disc.

For A I chose count down reducers at 2, 3, and 5 mana. If they are just gonna trade anyway let them do the thing we want them to do. Plus treasure seeker, big sand boy devalues swings.

For B I chose right of the arcane and unworthy as removal options.

For C its basically soothsayer or bust.

So thats it that the deck, is it slow and kind of a meme absolutely, but youre already limiting yourself to a meme deck so might as well play the best version.

When I play Ignite Mage, in several cases I cannot go lethal because the rope time out.

While I have seen several opponents that in the same situation continue to Ignite even after the ropes end .... what is the technicality to play more ignites? tks

So its well known that Runeterra is the most balanced card game in the genre.

It does this by sacrificing powerful archetypes with unique flavor upon the nerf cross over and over again until everything is essentially equal.

Case and point, I look and see what Graplr the only streamer still supporting the game daily is playing and its Heimer Zoe with Whiteflame?

So basically infinite value soup with zero synergy or deck flavor. I don't know about you guys but when I see that I'm just craving the days when I could get rushed down by pirate aggro, or Azir sandman, or a Zillian Ekko deck went infinite on me, or Ezreal burned me down, or Poppy built an insane board or a million other unique and interesting independent deck builds existed and were sucessful.

They were sucessful not because.they were balanced but because.they weren't, and that's the real story here, "synergy" means when I run this card with that other card they are better than than both those cards alone...without synergy you don't have decks, and you dont have a card game.

I know I've been harping on this but it seems like people are starting to agree with the whole do the regions, Champs, followers, and spells have enough flavor. The answer they did before.that flavor was nerfed out of existence.

Riot stop nerfing and start buffing seriously, we get roughly 20 nerfs to every single buff on average and it's killing the "synergy" it's killing the "decks" its killing the "fun" in your game.

We're doing this again. This time with some extra spicy bugs that render a couple of achievements either completely broken or needlessly difficult to complete. We also got a lot of grinding to do this time, and it's not the fun kind (trust me, I did most of it already and it was painful). On the flipside, very few of these achievements require you to have a large collection and can be done easily with mostly Standard cards (and a occasionally a few cheap Wild ones). Either way, let's get into the details.

Demon Hunter

Wreckoning:

Pretty simple grind. Sigil of Reckoning is a Fel Spell so if you're so inclined you can run Jace Darkweaver for an extra proc later on. Might take a while to grind, but 40 total isn't that much in the grand scheme. Big Demon DH is also a pretty fun and relatively playable deck (and could improve over time if we find a balanced build that makes the early game more bearable). Try to have fun with this one, you'll get to the pain later.

...The Harder They Fall:

Extremely simple. Just stuff all weapon buffs you can find into your deck and wait until your opponent plays a big minion. Given the abundance of Paladins at the moment this shouldn'T be hard at all. You can add some small Rush minions to soften up the target too.

Smash that Fury Button:

Pretty trivial overall. Felfire Deadeye + Expendable Performers into 6-health worth of minions and you've got it. If you don't have Performers you can substitute it with Command the Illidari or double Coordinated Strike since you only need 6 attacks total to get there (don't forget to HP before starting the combo). Personally not sure how competitive token DH is, but you can easily throw together a working list. Just make sure to run enough card draw.

Druid

PUPPIES!!!:

Tedious and boring but not difficult. Frostwolf Kennels and Dire Frostwolf with a Token shell around it and you even have a playable deck to do it with. Composting is kinda key here to get the necessary draw. This deck is also idea to complete some of the neutral achievements with that involve some of the more "generic" minions.

Choose One? Choose All!:

Even more boring and tedious. Use Moonlit Guidance to hopefully tutor and duplicate your Pathmaker. Unfortunately this achievement can't be completed in Standard due to the small number of Choose one spells. Do also note that each of the two effects of a card count seperately so you can use each spell twice.

Mo Mana Mo Problems:

Self explanatory. Use Guff. If you want to be a giga-chad like me you randomly generate Guff while doing Rogue achievements and do it that way.

Hunter

Krush from Above!:

Probably one of the hardest one due to the unpredictable nature of the card and how slow it is. There's one combo though. Use Emperor Thaurissan to discount Ichman and two Terrorguard Escapees. This way you don't rely on your opponent to have a board. Alternatively you can just bank on running into a boardfocussed deck at some point and use Dire Frenzy to shuffle a couple of smaller beasts with decent stats in there.

It's a Trap!:

Strongly recommend doing this in Wild. You get Cloaked Huntress and a bunch of way better Secrets. I did this before the expansion dropped and somehow climbed to Platinum rank on accident. Petting Zoo is one hell of a card.

Out for Blood:

This one'S kinda hard. You have to find the weapon early and then accumulate weapon buffs like Toxicologist and Captain Greenskin. The hard part is knowing when to use the weapon buffs. If you buff too early you might not be able to get honorable kills. Try and get 2-3 early kills and then finish the rest with weapon buffs. Might take a few games to get.

Mage:

HONORABLY DIE, INSECT!:

There's three ways to do this: The easy way, the hard way, and my way. Easy is through use of the plethora of Wild Hero Power buffs such as Daring Fire-Eater or Clockwork Automaton. If you have big balls you can also try doing it Majordomo Executus, but I don't know if it still counts if you transformed into Rag. The hard way is doing it in Standard with the thematically appropriate Magister Dawngrasp, a truly bad card  with very little practical applications.

Now my way is what you get when you have neither Dawngrasp nor any of the Wild cards because you disenchanted them years ago thinking you'd never need them again. That way you have to use Archmage Vargoth, Potion of Illusion, Wildfire and a variety of copy and discounting effects to get it all together. It took long. It wasn't fun.

Makes Yogg Proud:

Relatively tedious and annoying, mainly because Big Spell Mage is a really bad deck right now (at least if you run Towers, I still believe there'S a version of it that cuts all the greedy stuff and just goes for efficient mana cheating). Just keep playing the bad deck until you succeed. You will probably need Clumsy Courier for this, because you can't wait until turn 9/10 to start towering. I'd also recommend running Mass Polymorph if you have it because it's a great stalling tool.

Do You Wanna Build A Snowtroll?:

This one was my favourite because I masterminded the entire thing perfectly. What you want is get to 10-mana and have a Celestial Ink Set equipped. At this point you play one of the Snowmen and its second stage. That way you will get a discount on either the 3rd stage of the 2nd copy of Snowman, meaning that on the next turn you can use the 2nd charge of Ink Set to play all 3 stages in one turn. As long as you don't have any other spells in hand this works everytime. Really, getting to 10-mana is the hardest part in this.

Paladin

You Are Not Worthy:

This achievement is currently broken and doesn't register. Other than that it's relatively trivial to complete. Cariel is the one of the better Hero cards and Paladin is currently doing really well so it shouldn't be too hard to just do this one along the way. If you don't have a dedicated Paladin deck to climb with just throw Cariel into a healing deck and just take lots of damage. You'lll be done eventually.

Not Maroon. Not Crimson. Scarlet:

Requires a bit of set up to do reliably. Handbuff helps but isn't necessary. What you really want is  Blessing of Authority. That's a fat +16/+16, meaning you onld need 7 more attack, which you can do in Wild through Blessing of Might for instance or really any other cheap buffs. It's not a hard achievement to complete as long as you have the right cards for it.

Bold and Brass:

This one was designed by a complete idiot. Since there is no way to consistently manufacture boards with 2-health it's unreasonable to do this the normal way. What you want to do instead is use Animated Broomstick + any Lifesteal buff like Hold the Bridge or the old Lightforged Blessing (which is better because it reduces the need for discounts). Dragon Consort can also be used in Wild for discounts if you don't have Thaurissan or Cariel Roame. Either way, it will take a while to complete. I found that taking damage is actually quite difficult to do without dying. If you still ahve High Priest Thekal, now's his time to shine.

Priest

Salvation Army:

Pretty self-explanatory. Run discovery for more copies. Also try using small damage spells to set up HKs. This can also target friendly minions so if you really need to you can just nuke your own stuff. This contributes a good amount to the neutral HK achievement so try not grind that one prematurely.

Gesundheit!:

This one is currently bugged. It took a while to find out what exactly is wrong with it but as it turns out instead of counting the total attack you've given with Bless it wants you to give 200 attack in a single instance...which is virtually impossible outside of Test Subject or Shadow Visions shenanigans. Better wait for the eventual fix. Oh and if you don't have Divine Spirit for some reason this will take you a looong time.

I Will Remember You:

i've never been more happy to not own a legendary. This one sounds extremely painful to pull off. Not only is Deathrattle Priest not a great deck atm but you also hav to survive until you get Xyrella and stack a bunch of DRs in the meantime which will always make you want to be greedy and squeeze in a little more which could backfire because you either die or your opponent just gives up. Just put in the hours I guess. Should be significantly easier in Wild thanks to way more deathrattle and resurrection stuff. Just use what you have.

Rogue

Top 10 Alterac Betrayals:

Pretty self-explanatory but Rogue has shenanigans to speed this up, namely Togwaggle's Scheme and Lab Recruiter. Fun fact: While doing this I ended up fighting a Mill Rogue who really did not appreciate the endless horde of identical pandas. Eventually he ran out of removal. I didn't run out of Pandas. Cause of death: Memed into submission.

Rolling In Their Grave:

Fuck me this one is garbage. It takes way too long and is just painful. Since this requires you to have DR minions die while the objective is up you'll be tempted to go greedy before playing the spell, which might cost you. Generally it's best to run lots of card draw, small deathrattle minions (preferably ones with stealth like Jade Swarmer and Skyvateer) and Preparation for flexibility with the Graveyard. You'll be doing this for while. Try using Korrak the Bloodrager too, since you can easily complete his achievement while doing this (Note: Korrak will be done in a fraction of the time it takes you to complete this achievement, that's how bad it is).

Third Cousins Twice Removed:

This one's bugged and only works with the Legacy version of Chillwind Yeti, so you ahve to do it in Wild. On the flipside it's completely trivial. I even managed to win the game I completed the achievement in. That poor Priest. He got the double Yeti beatdown.

Shaman

1-800-ELE-MENT:

Similar to Xyrella you just have to grind. Fortunately for you Bru'kan is part of an actually competitive deck and you don't have to be super greedy to pull it off. Just keep playing Shaman.

Snowball Effect:

This one is impossible to reliably engineer. However, it's not as hard as it sounds. First of all you play Freeze Shaman for the subsequent achievement anyways (which is not only competitive but also really fun), but also, due to the nature of the deck you'll be locking up boards with Snowfall Guardian and have beefy minions from Wildpaw Cavern. This way you just have to wait until a large enough board comes together and then get lucky with the snowballs. It'll take a few attempts but it'll happen eventually. Just make sure you don't ahve a Spell Damage minions on the board.

Winter Vacation:

PLay Freeze Shaman. It'S fun. Additional help you can get with Bolner Hammerbeak and Brann Bronzebeard. Do note that you don't have to freeze an unfrozen minion. It counts stacking freezes to so doing a double-up on Snowfall Guardian works well.

Warlock

Dreading This One:

You can duplicate Seeds of Destruction with Grave Defiler. This one gets done a lot quicker if you have Dreadlich Tamsin but you can probably do without. It'll take a while. Also make sure you have board space because the imps don't count if the spells trigger without actually summoning them. Just throw them into every deck you have.

Get Busy Living Or Get Busy Dying:

Very annoying but manageable. Don't play Zoolock to do this, it's a terribly frustrating deck that relies on highrolling early and has no comeback mechanics. Instead just do a draw-heavy imp farming deck and make sure you have enough disposable minions to get a proc each turn. Mindless grind.

Get Over Here!:

Another bugged one, this one doesn't work as advertised. Instead of having to kill a Legendary minion honorably you have to kill it honorably from full health. As such it's a lot more difficult to get naturally so we improvise. Bloodmage Thalnos is a core legendary and we just have to get it onto the opponent's board. You either do this with discounts from Runed Mithril Rod and Silas Darkmoon or you still have a copy of Treachery. Not very hard but still annoying that you can't just outright murder an opponent's legendary.

Warrior

What Happens When...?:

Since I don't have the card I can't tell how difficult this is, but if you put it into Pirate Warrior you'll probably get there eventually. I don't think there's a way to artificially set this up, even with Silas Darkmoon involved. At best you try and get them low and then have Silas  + something like Bloodsail Raider. Since weapon removal is currently rather popular it might be frustrating to try and set it up over multiple turns so you're probably better off hoping for the eventual miracle. Might be easier to do in Duels now that I think of it.

Uncle Drek Wants You!:

Kind of a grind, but combines nicely with the next achievement, which I'll detail shortly. Just know that 5-mana minions are the best for this since you get the most value out of them when using double To the Front!.

My Lair, My Terms:

Now this one looks tedious but is actually really fun if you are big-brained mastermind like myself. Effectively we're gonna play this as a combo deck. We run double To the Front! + double Guild Trader + Mad Summoner (ye olde MVP for achievement farming) to get a 70-damage proc every game. This is a 10-mana combo so no disocunts required and if you set up Iceblood Garrison a turn early you only need 8. Just build your deck with enough draw and removal and you're good.

Neutral

Wrecking Ball:

One of those achievements not worth farming since it completes itself over the course of the expansion (unless you manage to dodge every HK card). If you do want to farm it you best use Hollow Abomination since he hits multiple targets. With Terrorguard Escapee you can knock this one out somewhat fast.

From Zero to Hero:

Similar to above this one just completes itself eventually. Rogue, Paladin, DH and Warlock all have playable and powerful Hero cards.

The Trees Speak For Themselves:

Either you play Druid with the Guff hero, or you just gamble at 10-mana. You can also handbuff him in Paladin.

King Of The Hill:

Completes itself as you complete class achievements.

The Everliving:

Rather easy to do when using the dedicated Rogue deck.

Congealing Essence:

No idea if this is worth forcing. I completed it on accident. If you want you can do it in Wild with Alexstrasza on yourself or in Classic by using Lord Jaraxxus.

Yummy In My Tummy:

This one's kidna hard depending on your card collection. It's easiest to do by using Treachery, discounted Flesh Giant and of course disocunts from Rod. If you don't have Treachery you need Silas Darkmoon, which is more expensive and thus harder. You'll also need to have an empty board for it to work consistently so Doomsayer might be of help. Alternatively you can try doing it in Paladin by buffing your opponent's minion.

Look! Holar!:

Best done while playing Freeze Shaman for the class achievements. Not a bad card at all. Do note that using Bolner Hammerbeak doesn't give extra procs because it's Bolner doing the effect and not the Herald. Brann Bronzebeard works though. I unironically climbed to Plat 5 using an achievement version of Freeze Shaman, it's a really solid deck.

Snoblind? Sno Problem!:

Same as the above. You can do it in Mage too obviously, but why would you? You're gonna have to play Shaman anyways.

Harder, Better, Warmaster, Stronger:

A good exploit is creating extra copies in Rogue since you get to play them all for 0 anyways. Do note that overcharging the effect doesn't work. Each Warmaster can only get a 4-mana discount (unless you're using stuff like Mana Wraith I guess, I haven't tried that though)

1600 Dust Bounty:

Just throw the BOunty Hunter into every deck, it'll come together eventually. You get golden copies of the rewards track so you can always do this one later.

Big Bird:

30 isn't a lot but you can make it a lot quicker by using Owl + Commanding Shout and Provoke. Getting up to 14 procs per game is pretty neat.

Flappy Bird:

Just put it into every deck. it's a decent card by itself to clear minions while grinding other achievements. In Druid you get to copy it too.

Gankster's Paradise:

You can try to get shenanigans rolling with Ramming Mount, but it's unnecessary. 15 is not a lot and usually if you play it on curve it kills something. People don't care enough to deny you the kill.

Mary Had A Little Lamb:

throw into a lot of decks, shuffle with Rogue, the usual deal.

One For All, Marshall For 1!:

Same as before although you can cheat with To the Front! and other discounts.

Reflecto Failure:

Any 0-attack minion will do.

Snivvle No More:

Do I even have to repeat myself?

Teamkill:

Sounds hard but is trivial as long as you own Grim Patron. Elven Archer + Patron + Arcanist and it'S done. JUst need to play a class that can discount or gets extra mana. NOte that this will leave you with a clear board and 4 Grim Patrons and the Arcanist once it ends meaning if you have board buffs you might be able to just kill your opponent for extra BM.

You're In Irondeep Trouble:

DO THIS NOW BEFORE TROGG GOES TO 2-MANA (or maybe they just have him some regular Trogg's instead of exact copies, idk). It's quite hard to pull off but in Rogue you can do it. As per usual you shuffle with Togwaggle's Scheme. The problem here is that you'd need handspace to hold all them troggs. To get around this I used Potion of Illusion so I only need 4 Troggs in hand. Discounts from Oct-o-bot and Preparation help.

Final Thoughts

A lot more grind this time around but also some really fun ones. Ignoring the multiple bugs all of the achievements are manageable given that you have the necessary cards.

I am quitting HS as of today (already deleted the app) after playing the game since Goblins vs Gnomes.

Ever since Stormwind wild has not been enjoyable and this new expansion has not fixed it. I might come back to the game if they ever do address wild’s issues but it has been almost 5 months and nothing has been done.

So we finally get a look at what the devs think needs to be improved from an archetype perspective.

The big winner is control...vengeance is 6 mana this one mana difference is game changing. It's actually possible to pass pass into like a Zigs kill if your hand is super heavy.

Freijord changes to anivia and and trundle again I'm like not the biggest fan of this deck but it should punish infinite value Bandle decks and Heimer, Zoe etc. So thats great. The deck also has an actual identity and unique play flavor and I'm all about that.

Kindred goes down to 4 mana and Xerath gets a point of health big buffs to the I just want you to stick to the board Champs. I have said before that in skilled hands Xerath has no skill ceiling and now that he's that much harder clear he's a real threat.

Mono shurima now gets to auto play its landmark and again 6 mana instead of 7 mana to auto level its Champs to tier 3. Hey look Riot is putting the fun back in there game...great stuff I'd like to see more of this.

Reminds me of when they buffed braum he was basically unplayable before and now he's at least a little scary as like a hard counter. I could almost see Fiora and Shen having their nerfs reverted because again we want these champs playable, for the sake of fun.

I think Riots getting that so a few more buff passes like this one and I think the game will be in a much more "unbalanced" but funner (not a real word) state.

I'm interested in trying out the game now that it's free to play. What are your impressions of it, and is it worth a try?

I just recently started playing Gwent, frustration over the Hearthstone BP incentivized me to give it a shot. I also love Witcher 3 and started playing it again, so I'm having a really good time gaming after a while.

I wanted to check, what's the situation here, is anybody playing it? Saw an old thread about it, it seemed to me that people here weren't optimistic about the game back then.

If anybody is interested, it would really make me happy to make some in-game friends :) 

By the way, I would recommend the game to anyone who's into Witcher and loves card games. The cards have beautiful art and flavor, and playstyle feels more strategic compared to HS. The reward system feels good for now, but I'm still a noob and can't be objective here yet.

anchorm4n created a thread for book recommendations, and Koetti asked if comics counted (recommending Blacksad). I figured "hey, why not create a new sister thread just of comic recommendations? First a note though : actually buying comics is terribly expensive and impractical. If you're interested, I recommend trying to borrow trade paperbacks from your local library -- they are collections of 5-6 issues in a single ~130 page book, and most collect them just like normal books. Alternatively, the following online resources are great:

• If your library participates, https://www.hoopladigital.com/ is incredible -- you'll get ~6 free downloads every month, and they have a very respectable library
• "ComiXology Unlimited", "Marvel Unlimited", and "DC Universe Infinite" are subscription models, like Netflix for comics.

OK, recommendations (disclaimer, all these will be on the mature side of things) :

Saga, written by Brian K. Vaughan illustrated by Fiona Staples - 54 issues and going

Frankly, you should be suspicious of any list of great comics that doesn't at least acknowledge Saga -- it's just that good. Saga is a one-of-a-kind sprawling space opera that's like Romeo and Juliet meets Star Wars. Be forewarned that it is very R rated though and often goes over the top.

Hawkeye, written by Matt Fraction illustrated by David Aja - 18 issues

You know all those jokes that Hawkeye is the weakest Avenger? Matt Fraction doesn't just lean into that schtick; he buys it a steak dinner. But the real magic trick is how, in a universe full gods and world-ending threats, he gets you to instead care about the residents of a crappy apartment complex and a one-eyed dog. 

The Boys, written by Garth Ennis illustrated by Darick Robertson - 72 issues

OK yes there's a very popular Amazon series based on this series, but the original comics are fantastic in their own right! And they are different enough that, even if you're fully caught up with the Amazon version, the comics can still surprise you. The final twists near the end of the series are what really do it for me, though -- I don't think I can name another villain I've sympathized with so much yet at the same time needed to see him stopped.

Invincible, written by Robert Kirkman illustrated by Ryan Ottley - 144 issues

Another comic that's about to have an Amazon series! This is Robert Kirkman's homage to classic superhero comics, and he does a fabulous job reproducing all the standard tropes...only to break them when you least expect it. The story starts with the titular character in a "son of Superman" role, but it certainly doesn't stay there. Fantastic combination of engaging characters, thrilling plot lines, and some surprisingly bloody action sequences.

Lazarus, written by Greg Rucka illustrated by Michael Lark, 28 issues and going

I generally enjoy all of Greg Rucka's work, and he's done some premiere world-building with this series. It's set in a dystopian future where everything is ruled by 16 rival families who are constantly warring and making and breaking alliances with each other. Each family is allowed one special champion, a lazarus, to be imbued with death-defying regenerative abilities through either cybernetics, nanites, pharmaceuticals, or some combination thereof. The whole thing takes on a modern day Game-Of-Thrones vibe.

Red Sonja, written by Gail Simone illustrated by Walter Geovanni, 18 issues

I'd always been dismissive of Red Sonja -- the whole "barbarian in a chain-mail bikini" appearance felt like a trap. Gail Simone does some incredible work with the character, though, forcing me to reassess everything. The opening scene sets the series perfectly : bandits come across a half-sleeping Sonja, who lazily admits them she's probably too drunk to stop them from making off with her horse but not so drunk that they wouldn't regret trying more. What follows is a beautiful blend of drama and comedy that makes me wish it wasn't only 18 issues long.

I recently discovered there's a Mercenary tab in Hearthcards, and, since I've been playing Mercs recently, I wanted to create a custom character. It's mainly based on the Crypt Lord from Warcraft 3.

This is my first attempt at Mercenaries content. I feel like Mercenaries is the perfect mode to represent the heroes of Overwatch and their abilities.

Roles

Tanks = Protectors, Damage = Fighters, Support = Casters

The Mercenaries include: Level 30 stats (without +1/+5 max bonus), All Level 5 abilities and all Level 4 equipment.

Every now and again, I will update this thread with brand new Mercenaries. To tide us over until then, here are the first five: Roadhog, Reaper, Widowmaker, Genji and Brigitte.

Which one variant is better? 45 regular packs or 10 golden packs?

Murlocs are out of control again and now it's a totally different reason. Now everyone gets poison and enough life that div shields aren't even necessary.

We need a unit, fairly formidable, called Herpetologist. While this unit is alive your units cannot be poisoned.

Right now only rly beefy mech comps can take them out and it's a little ridiculous. If murlocs are in lobby just forget about playing elems, demons and quillboar. 

Tech card needed. Maybe make it like the snake where you can give your unit a dose of anti venom like it gives reborn.....

As title says, has anyone here purchased the BG board skin and do you think it's worth it?  Is it neat?  Does it have interactables?  etc.  I haven't seen any videos reviewing it anywhere so wanted to see if I could get any feedback on if it makes the experience worth it or not.

I play decks that take actual thinking like Thief Rogue, Handlock, and Menagerie DR DH. You play decks that take simple computing like Pirate Warrior, Elemental Shaman, and Face Hunter.

What piques my interest when a new set comes out are cards that look enjoyable and can lead to different paths each game. What you care about is which are over-tuned and will lead to 100''s of repetitive games.

Greetings everyone, and welcome to the submission thread of fifth challenge of Master Duelist!

General Information

This challenge will begin today, December 10th, and will end on December 31st. During this window of time, you'll have to start a Duels run with a starting deck including at least 6 Fractured in Alterac Valley cards: both class and neutral cards are good!

Everyone who'll post proof of a 7+ wins run in this article's comment section will be awarded with a different amount of gold, an in-site currency you'll be able to earn from different activities and that will be used to purchase cosmetics in our in-site shop.

Submission Rules

In order for your run to count towards the challenge, you'll have to provide an appropriate proof of your feat; otherwise, your result won't count. To be precise, you will have to reply to this forum thread including:

• a picture of how your run ended;
• a picture of your starting deck;
• a picture(s) of your final deck.
• any other information you want: even though it's not necessary, it may help other players or generate a discussion!
  • you can submit as many runs as you want: we'll always pick the best one. Don't be afraid to show what you experimented with: let's start a discussion here!

Remember that we have to make sure you actually played following the rules, so please help us in doing so - disqualifying players feels bad, and we'd want to avoid it if possible! No exceptions will be made.

Here's a quick breakdown explaining the rewards you'll receive based on your performances:

Time Criteria

Those which follow are the time criteria we'll use to determine the winner in case of identical scores:

• An Heroic run will be considered more difficult than a Casual one, therefore Heroic players will have the priority.
  • If you get the best score overall with a 10-wins run in Casual and somebody else gets a 10-wins run in Heroic, the latter will be the winner of the challenge.
• In case of more people getting the same score, the winner will be decided by the submission time.
  • If more players will get to 12 wins, losses will count as well: a 12-0 will be considered better than a 12-2 or a 12-1. 
  • You could get the highest score on the first day as well as on the last day of the challenge, but if someone submits the same score before you do, then they'll be the winner.

Competition Theme: Combo Harvester

It's time to start bringing those Mercenary innovations over into the main game - starting with those fancy Combos!

• You must create a regular Hearthstone card which uses the Spell School Combo mechanic from Mercenaries
  • For those unfamiliar, some abilities in Mercenaries have additional effects if an ability of a specific Spell School was used previously that turn - Nature Combo, Fire Combo etc. - and we're looking to see this mechanic translated into regular Hearthstone.
  • For example, a card would have its Fel Combo ability activate if you played a Fel spell earlier that turn.

BloodMefist and anchorm4n have joined forces for this prompt - a particularly potent Combo, I think you'll agree!

As is tradition for our holiday competitions, you have three prompts to choose from - your card just needs to meet one to qualify!

  • Create a card that interacts with Frost spells. Simply being a Frost spell doesn't count.
    • We're looking for cards that'll be happy to see a little snow this Winter Veil!
• Deck the Halls
  • Create a card that interacts with your deck.
    • Start putting up those deckorations!
• Check It Twice
  • Create a card with "double" or "twice" in its textbox.
    • You've got to be really thorough to make sure you're getting it write!

So Bruised by God one of the best Runeterra players strictly on ladder has come out to say that he thinks the Kenin Ezreal nerf was heavy handed.

I personally agree, because the only thing keeping infinite value decks in cheque aka shellfolk cycle shenanigans (as an example) was the very real threat that you would just instantly lose queuing into a combo matchup that would just burn you down to 0 even if you had 100 cards.

That threat is gone now, taking the matchup options of aggro-> midrange -> control-> combo down to essentially midrange/aggro/control soup aka I start agressive, cycle hard, play midrange threats and then transition into infinite value lategame.

You compound this lack of deck building identity with limited viable champion compositions, and I can understand his frustration and the general lack of engagement with the game from popular streamers like Swim and Mogwai.

Afterall how can you cry for a nerf and simultaneously be responsible for the dumbing down of the game by limiting the deck building variety and matchup tables, and champ compositions.

Now this is more of an overall trend in the game, a lot of interesting and viable decks have been nerfed into the ground leading into a lack of build identity. I think Shen can be pushed back on top to fight dragons, Azir Irelia can be pushed back to fight aggro, and Fizz Tf can be pushed back to counter control, and yes Ezreal Kenin can be pushed to counter value decks.

If everything is broken and unbalanced by definition nothing will be and it will lead to more dynamic and unpredictable matchups and play experiences. Just my two cents, what do you guys think?
