There was a 3x class card offering adjustment that happened mid way through dual class event.  

Blizzard did not revert this adjustment when dual class ended.  

Blizzard has just reverted this adjustment as of the latest patch update.  

You'll be seeing 5-8 class cards as opposed to the 20+ class cards we saw previously.   

Classes that relied more on class cards to do well (mainly classes with poor hero powers) will be affected negatively in win rates.  

Play accordingly.

Is casual a place where there is supposed to be no tier-1 decks? or is it supposed to be just like ranked mode with no risk/rewards? What is your philosophy about the Casual format?

I personally think that Casual is a place where you can play whatever deck you want without having to worry about winning or losing. I think that looking at he format as a place where tier 99 decks can be viable is the wrong way of looking at it. I enjoy playing casual because I can be at rank 7 - 5 stars and still be able to try out a odd homebrew deck without having to worry about falling back to rank 10.

With the sale of the 3 shop hero portraits as well as the recent addition of the 1K win portraits I realised we have come quite far with the amount of hero portraits we could have gotten. 

So I was wondering what hero portraits do you use for your classes? Mine are:

Maybe I'm doing something wrong but I wanted to make the new pre-order card back my favorite.  I used to have it on the 'Random' card back but even tho it says the new one (The Shattering) IS my favorite I keep having random backs.

I couldn't find another thread about this and wondering if anyone else has the same problem.

Remember that only a minority of regular HS cards would make sense in this mode (no spells/weapons, no card draw/deck interaction, etc...).

Why is Riot making a card game?

A lot of us have been playing card games since we were kids, so we know the issues with the genre: Spending an entire paycheck just to try another deck. Over-the-top randomness deciding which player wins. Playing against the same decks over and over, and cards that stay broken way too long.

So we asked ourselves: what if we could change all that?

Basically, we’ve spent a lot of time thinking about what we’d do differently. And now we have a chance to shake up the genre by keeping what’s great, improving what’s not, and adding some new twists of our own.

What’s different in LoR?

Who is LoR for?

League players who love strategy and card game players looking for something different should feel right at home with LoR, but we hope players of all types can find something they love about our take on the card game genre.

Do I have to pay to get started in the game or to unlock certain things?

Legends of Runeterra is free to play. There are two in-game currencies: Shards you earn through play, and Coins you can purchase anytime.

Here’s how unlocking stuff works in LoR:

As you play, you’ll complete quests and earn experience to advance and automatically unlock new cards, but which region you unlock first is totally up to you. You decide where your cards come from, and can switch regions whenever you want, which makes assembling your dream deck a whole lot easier.

Once a week, you’ll also unlock chests from the Vault. The Vault levels up as you play and upgrades the chests inside, which increases the number of cards you get from each. Individually, both the cards and chests have a chance to upgrade into something even better, and at level 10 and above, you’re guaranteed a champion.

Sometimes you’ll encounter wildcards, which can be turned into any card you want—no guessing required. A limited number of additional wildcards are available in the store, which is replenished with a new stock each week.

We know that sometimes you just want a guaranteed way to get specific cards. So instead of waiting for the right drop, you can unlock cards for your collection using the Shards you’ve earned or the wildcards you’ve acquired through play or purchase.

Bottom line: In Legends of Runeterra, you will never pay for randomized packs, and you have a bunch of different ways to get the cards you actually want and build multiple decks for both casual duels and the competitive meta.

When it comes to cosmetics, there are free base options that every player starts with: the Summoner’s Rift Board and the Poro Guardian. Stay tuned for more details on other ways to personalize your LoR experience in the future.

Why are you limiting how much players can spend on cards?

It’s a good question, with a slightly complicated answer.

The summary version is that we want to ensure you always have something you’re looking forward to unlocking, and that you’re constantly discovering new cards and strategies. Slowing down how quickly the entire set of cards can be unlocked is one method for helping us accomplish that goal. There’s a lot more to it than that, so expect to see an article soon that dives deep into how card acquisition will work in LoR.

Does LoR include all the champions and factions from League of Legends?

Currently, LoR features six major regions of Runeterra—Demacia, Noxus, Ionia, Piltover & Zaun, Freljord, and the Shadow Isles—and 24 champions (four from each of those regions). League players will probably notice that there’s a lot more of Runeterra to still be explored...

Will LoR have its own story and champions or will it co-exist within current League lore? Will there be any new and unique champions in LoR?

Every character and card in the game comes from a region of Runeterra, the same world that the champions from League of Legends hail from. You’ll encounter some familiar faces and discover completely new ones.

Will there be a ranked system?

Absolutely—it’s currently in development.

Will there be a “limited” or draft-based game mode?

Definitely—we plan on sharing some details very soon.

Can I play with my friends?

We’re still working on the friends list and a friend challenge feature—both are currently set to be ready for closed beta in early 2020.

How long has Riot been developing this game?

The idea of a League card game has been around for a while at Riot (what can we say, we’re fans). We’ve had several prototypes over the years, but Legends of Runeterra itself was largely built over the last couple years.

Is LoR finished? What’s a preview patch?

LoR is still in active development, but we’re gearing up for beta in early 2020. However, the League Ten Year Anniversary was just too good an opportunity to pass up for sharing an early preview with League players. From October 15 (7 PM PT) to October 20 (7 PM PT), we’re inviting players to join us for a special “preview patch,” to be followed by another in November.

These preview patches are a way for us to give you an early look at the game while it’s still in development, showcase new features as we go... and squash some bugs in the process.

This first one is all about the core experience—which includes getting cards, building decks, and playing games—so you can try out the fundamentals before we add more stuff. And, as a bonus for this Preview Patch, we’re giving you a bunch of wildcards up front to help jump-start your deckbuilding experience.

Can I spend money during the preview patches?

Yup! The preview patches are a great opportunity to get early player feedback on what we’ve built so far, and LoR’s business model is something we’re particularly excited to show you. We're really excited we get to focus less on selling packs and more on the things that make a card game great: deep, interactive strategy; frequent releases and balance updates; and endless experimentation.

Any money you spend during the preview patches will be carried through any pre-launch account resets in the form of Coins (with any purchased content refunded to Coins).

We want LoR’s progression to feel great for players regardless of how much they spend, so let us know what you think about it!

Will there be account resets?

Yes, at least one prior to launch. You’ll keep any Coins you’ve purchased and get back any you’ve spent during the preview patches or closed beta when LoR launches.

Is Riot working with anyone to make LoR?

LoR is mostly being developed at Riot, but we’re working with three fantastic art partners: SIXMOREVODKA, Kudos3d (partner studios for card art) and Beyond-FX (partner studio for VFX). Working closely with our veteran, in-house art team, our partners are playing a critical role in making LoR a game that lives up to Riot’s high artistic standard, and takes players deeper than ever before into the world of Runeterra.

We also work with several external parties who provide functional QA, localization QA, and compatibility testing services that help ensure LoR hits the quality bar players deserve.

Why doesn’t LoR use Riot Points (League of Legends’ paid currency)?

There are two main reasons. First, Riot is working on multiple mobile games (LoR and League of Legends: Wild Rift), and, as it turns out, both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store actually don’t allow games to share currencies (for a bunch of good reasons). This restriction and other eccentricities of cross-platform currencies pushed us towards an independent paid currency (Coins) for LoR.

Second, we’re trying some interesting new stuff with LoR’s business model (see earlier questions for more info on that), and plan to actively fine-tune our system prior to launch as we gather data and hear what you think. An independent paid currency will give us the freedom to make any necessary changes in the run up to launch, without worrying about cross-game ripple effects.

Do I need the League of Legends client or a LoL account to play LoR?

No to both! Legends of Runeterra is a standalone download. If you have an existing LoL account, you can use it to pre-register, but those without one can easily make a Riot account while pre-registering.

How do I choose a game name in LoR? Will LoR use my League of Legends summoner name?

If you don’t have an existing League of Legends account, you’ll be asked to create a game name. You can’t change this name in the LoR client once you’ve created it (for now), so pick a good one.

If you have an existing LoL account, your LoL summoner name will be used to create your LoR game name and tagline. If you change your summoner name in LoL, it will change your name in LoR.

We’re still working on game names in LoR, so expect updates once we implement the friends list and social panel during closed beta in early 2020.

How long does one game of LoR usually take?

Games take around 10 to 15 minutes to finish, but we’re warning you now: you may end up playing all night.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I log in and update Hearthstone, SSDD with every other patch.  Only this time I go in an I have fractions all over my decks that have one gold and one non-gold card in them saying that they are no complete.  I go in and have to manually remove the golden copy from the deck and then re-add it back to the deck.  Most frustrating part of this, outside of having to do it for every single deck... If I log, it resets and I have to do the whole damn thing over again.

For example, I have 1 gold and 1 regular Sense Demons in my deck.  I have to go into my deck editor and remove the golden version, and then put it back in for the game to recognize what is going on.  It is seriously irritating when I am a casual player and play when I have a spare 10 -15 minutes on my hands to have to do this to the deck that I want to play.  Has anyone else experienced this crap with this or another patch?

What happened? I can't see any notes about cards being removed from the game. Did I miss something?

This is my first go at a Galakrond Zoolock. I tried to keep it in the realm of competitive. I think there could be potential for things like Jumbo Imp or Plague of Flames, but I think those come in to target specific metagame things. Ditto to the rusher Invoker.

I think Veiled Worshipper is crazy powerful, but with it's condition, only 4 Invokers, the natural Warlock hero power, and Solarium, I wouldn't be surprised if 1 is the correct number.

With Hearthstone Battlegrounds soon to be among us (and even playable by some), HearthCards has now received an update to allow you to make your own cards for the mode.

Look at Reshaper Murrie here. It's got a 6-star shield icon in place of where a mana cost would normally be. This signifies that it's a card for the Battlegrounds mode.

Let's try to make one ourselves. How do you do that? The first thing we need to do is click on the cog button (highlighted with the red circle). Clicking that will bring you to this menu:

We've seen this menu before, but now there's an option called "Mana to Tavern Tier (Battlegrounds)", which includes a drop-down menu. By default, it will be set to Off, but clicking it will give you a set of 7 options which include the standard Off, and the numbers 1-6, which represent the tiers of cards found in the mode.

From that point, just keep making the card as normal, and the result will look something like this:

When you use the option to change the mana cost to the shield icon, the icon will not show up whilst you make the card, but it will show up properly after you click "Create". There's no need to fill in a mana cost, because it will be replaced by the shield anyway.

So let's look at our finished card again.

It looks like a real Battlegrounds card, does it not? Something that is worth mentioning is that most existing collectable cards in the mode will keep their watermark, but new cards the are exclusive to the Battlegrounds mode will have no watermark. To achieve this, click the "Custom" watermark option, and then click "None" in the list of watermarks.

As the Battlegrounds mode is very fresh, we have yet to fully determine the balancing, but if you wish to see all of the cards in the mode, click here.

In addition, each card in the mode has a Golden variation (meaning there's finally a reason to actually use the Golden option). Golden versions of Battleground cards have their stats doubled, and their effect upgraded if applicable. Usually, this effect is doubled, but there are some exceptions (any card with an x2 effect will upgrade to an x3 effect). Some cards how effects that do not receive upgrades at all when made Golden, which include minions who's effects are entirely made of keywords, or grant a keyworded mechanic under a trigger (Cobalt Guardian, Toxfin).

If we make Loan Shark Golden, it will look something like this:

An interesting point to note is that Golden cards have slightly different text space to them, meaning that if you reduce the card's text size to get rid of an orphan in the text box, the finished card might still end up with that orphan. In this case, you'll need to reduce the card's text even further.

Custom class designs do not support Golden cards, so if you're making one of your custom class cards for the Battlegronds mode, you'll need to use an existing class design similar in color if you still wish to make it Golden.

Hey, folks! Quick thread letting you know how to get involved with both the localisation and the lore of the game, if you want to. Keep in mind that both of these are voluntary work.

First up, localisation. You can apply to become a translator for the game, and then your client will be modified to allow you to edit the text, once you're approved. You'll receive some packs for your efforts. More info here.

Finally, lore. You can submit fan lore cards in game that don't have it (the text next to the card when it's enlarged). But hurry up: all submissions must be received before 12 midnight PST on November 11th, 2019. More info here.

So, I have been struggling with a terrible internet connection lately but at least Hearthstone still worked. It would only maybe crash once on startup and afterwards be fine.

However, since sunday, maybe 1 out of 5 attempts gets me into the main menu; loading my collection may require up to 5 minutes and attempting to start any game tosses me out of the game for good. I know part of my issue is the internet but that is a problem that has gone on longer than these severe issues.

Is anyone else having trouble similar to this?

If you are playing an EVIL class, and you use a card has "invoke Galakarond", I am reading that the new hero power is triggered as well. That is, even if you don't have the new hero card equipped yet.

For example, if you are playing as a Warlock and you use Dragonblight Cultist, you will get the following result for 3 mana:

• 2 1/1 imps are created on the board, as that is the Warlock upgraded hero power (achieved after using Galakrond later in the game)
• the 1/1 minion actually becomes at least a 3/1 minion, as he gains 1 attack for every other minion on the board (including the two 1/1 imps)

There is a video on the Blizzard website for this expansion which shows how such a card works with the Rogue class.

Assuming I have this right (?), suddenly the "invoke Galakarond" cards seem much, much better. 

Did anyone copy that by any chance, the decks changed before I got a chance but I enjoyed it

I'm happy that Hearthstone FINALLY got a new game mode. Even though it's not for me I'm happy that they've made something new to keep the community interested.

I wanted to ask the OOC community how you all felt about this game mode. Like is this what you wanted? Or would you have preferred something else.

Edit 05Nov: I’m glad I’m not the only one who isn’t satisfied with the game mode. I see some of you drawing the direct comparison to Heroes of the Storm in terms of being late to the game and it’s a very realistic critique. We all saw what happened to HotS, not saying it will happen to HS, but the Battlegrounds may go in that direction unless it gets continuous support (I don’t know if they’ve mentioned it anywhere).

I know they wanted to dive into the Autochess world, but they shouldn’t have. They should have innovated on something not seen in the digital CCG world. Hearthstone Mathematician just did an amazing video on a Two-Headed Giant mode that outlines most of the design questions for Team 5. This is a mode that would be more than welcomed in HS.

Edit 07Nov: After playing several matches of Battlegrounds and sitting on the thought of the game mode itself.... it's not a new game mode, it's just a different game that utilizes Hearthstone assets. Let me elaborate on that.

Watching the Hearthstone panel for Blizzcon one of the designers explained how they came about the idea of Battlegrounds. They stated that when Autochess and the other Auto-battlers released that the team had a lot of fun playing those games and that they wanted to create one for HS. Six months later Battlegrounds was born and shown to the world.

If you notice in the previous paragraph the Dev said that THE TEAM wanted to create one. So I want everyone to think about that. I'm sure some of you all have browsed the Sub-reddit and read some of the post asking for new game modes and other posts that offer ideas for now ways to play the game (here's mine that I posted on OoC and the Sub-reddit: https://outof.cards/forums/hearthstone/hearthstone-general/1488-six-formats-hearthstone-could-easily-have). I just don't get it. Like we're here, telling the Devs what we want/would like to have/what needs improvement, and they give us something that literally nobody asked for.

Either way, Battlegrounds feels samey after a while. It's high RNG (Yogg be praised) and once you fall behind, that's it. There are key cards that if you don't find after re-rolling over and over again, you simply lose. The game "mode" is not for me. Still wanting and waiting on modes like the ones I've linked above.
