I've been quite busy with the website and life so not a whole lot of gaming has been taking place so far this month, but, I did play the demo for Saelig and was quite impressed.
It's an RPG that has simulation and business management elements. I made my first character a super thief by taking anything that would give me a boost to thieving. It took a moment to figure out how I could actually put my skills to the test, but when I did, wow. It was a good idea to start in a larger town!
I kept getting caught stealing though since my stealth wasn't too good... but I was having such success that I was able to pay the fines off without an issue... until it became one. I was caught being bad, and I got exiled from the town. So with not much time left in the demo, I decided to hell with everyone in this town, this is my town. I started burning down all the buildings and most importantly, the other farm plots so that my workers on the farm wouldn't have any competition anymore. As I was doing this, barbarians attacked the town so everyone was occupied with them or running away from them so the fires burned half the town to the ground.
Then I got caught afterward. I didn't have the money to pay the fine so I got sent to the pit. Well, I don't know how long my sentence was for, but my demo ended about 20 minutes later and I just laughed at the insane situation I put myself in and how silly the pit was. I tried to use the unstuck tool in the pit and it teleported me to the top of the pit but I still was unable to move... as expected since I had been jailed. Winter came and that was that for my demo time.
It is definitely worth the purchase, it's $17.49 CAD and I can see having more fun with it.
I also played a couple rounds of Balatro while eating lunch yesterday and finally did the Speedrun achievement which just involves skipping most of the rounds. I got very lucky.
I seriously can't wait to get my hands on this, even if it ends up just being a reskinned version of Vampire Survivors and quite literally since it's the same engine. The art just looks so good, but that's not surprising since Boltgun's art is incredible.
The one thing I wonder is if this means we're going to have to wait a long time for a new Animal Crossing game. I think some of these additions are cool and add value to the game, but I also think the island concept is a bit much at this point.
What I'd like to see out of a new game? A return to a chunk of land with borders; I would love to be connected to a friend or friends by a land barrier so if we're both online we can freely visit each other and our animals could even cross over between the towns. Speaking of villagers, we need them to return to, at a minimum, New Leaf levels of interesting. The villagers were so blegh, for lack of a better term, in New Horizons. The technology is here, Nintendo, you have the power, make them all more engaging and find more fun things to do with them.
A Switch 2 Animal Crossing game definitely would sell consoles. Just as a Switch 2 only Zelda or Metroid would. I know we're not too far off every game releasing only being for Switch 2, anything that has dual released at this point is just games that were being worked on when Switch 2 was still far away. It's a shame that Legends ZA is a dual-release because you know they could have gone a bit more wild with it if they didn't need the two games to work together. I hope the next mainline Pokemon game is fully focused on the full power of the Switch 2 - though it's Pokemon so it probably won't be lmao.
And now we've derailed into Pokemon so that's enough for this comment.
I haven't had much time to play any games so far this month but I do plan on playing World of Warcraft's Legion Remix event that started this past week and I've got this itch to jump back into Schedule 1 since I haven't played it for a while and they came out with a new crime mob update not too long ago.
I'm going to be playing Discounty soon as well as I received a key for it on Nintendo Switch and I plan on doing a full review. That was supposed to happen earlier in the week but the website had other plans for me.
Sorry all about the downtime the past two days. Card reveal season for Hearthstone always increases our traffic and when the stars align, stuff happens. This time around a long-term performance issue that hadn't really been that large of an issue took the site out due to some other changes on our backend.
It took some time to sort that out but the issue is resolved and steps have been taken so that the issue cannot happen again. Nirast was saying how every time we have a reveal season something goes wrong and yeah... he's not wrong.
I'm diving into some other performance related issues though this evening to help improve things even more since there are still a few slowdowns I'm seeing with the site, but the big ones are fixed and I'm glad for that to be the case.
Yo actually tho, where in the world is Monk? It would be interesting if they did that next year since this year seems to be all about a power level reset. It would give Monks a more even ground to stand on without making their cards just insanely overpowered.
Hat was an OG and the improvements we saw when he joined the Hearthstone team were immeasurable. I hope he gets another contract with them so the community can keep that voice of knowledge.
Hah, my first thought when I saw the press drop on that item was "is this EU or NA dates?" and I'm glad it was further clarified. This is a call to stop ambiguous dates, YYYY-MM-DD is the superior format for all dates and we should all bow before our great savior ISO 8601.
Oh yeah, I didn't even think about how amazing it will be with a new Smash on the horizon.
CONFIRMED FOR BRAWL memes were an incredible moment in internet history and making references to it is a favourite of mine. It would be wild if Nintendo lead the release with a Smash game, though I suspect that will end up coming down the line a bit later, possibly holiday season the following year, which would allow a lengthy tease process regarding characters.
Though, it could be that Super Smash Bros Ultimate also just gets a refresh for the Switch 2. The game is incredible as-is so do we really need a completely new title? Tough call.
Hey all, I'm aware our threads aren't working for the new mini-set. I'm currently diving into the issue and hope to have it resolved before the next reveals in 2 hours.
Everyone has been asking for Heroes of StarCraft since the whole "Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft" announcement over 10 years ago. After we were teased about this last year during the 30th anniversary event for Warcraft, it's very cool to finally see cards for it.
My answer for this month is going to be quite boring I'm afraid. I plan to continue Stardew Valley, I'll be checking out the WoW update dropping soon (but not likely to do much with it), and I'll get in some Tarkov PvE here and there which I played during the Winter break with a couple of friends.
I've got a few titles that are in my queue for reviews for the site that hopefully I can get to. It would be refreshing to play something new and possibly be surprised by how good it is.

I couldn't agree more! It's already taken them forever and a half, whats another half?

Fortnite is truly the metaverse. Facebook wishes they could have had this level of success.

It’s the weirdest timeline lol
Such incredible pieces of art but damn that is soooo many to collect lol. Mister Clocksworth really stands out and I also really enjoy King Maluk.

Downtime is my #1 enemy.

Joke if you must but this article did pretty well!

Its live as of a few minutes ago!

Hell, it's about time.

Happy New Year everyone!

I opened a few packs and got some goodies!
The double Mankey was quickly improved upon when Celebi made an appearance!
Where's my Switch 2 at? Hah
