I'll probably come in around level 151ish overall I feel the expansion was a great success, decent mechanics, great flavor.
probably have around 5k gold which is about normal for me because they always release at least one warlock skin in the shop that I have to buy with gold.
Looking forward to the castle, warlock got some really fun tools and Prince and Sire are great free legendaries. Locations are a cool new mechanic as well.
I'm at level 80 right now ( no bonus) with 70% achievement hunting down, there are a few that will likely be impossible for me to do due to rarity, but this has been by far the easiest achievement one to grind IMO.
The Voyage meta started out fresh, but now I rarely see innovative decks which is a shame, as a warlock main it was painful early and I don't really enjoy playing with or against curses.
Faelin is a perfect free legendary, really pleased with that decision by blizz. I also really enjoy dredge and sunken, overall a decent and flavorful expansion.
I have played off and on since release and don't have a maxed fully maxed out merc yet, I do have several approaching there.
My 2 cents is that while it's semi fun, the idea of grinding that much to have a merc be viable in PVP and the linear progression of new mercs ( meaning ranks 4-5 are more important) is not worth it.
It reminds me a lot of vanilla HS where we all know the gold and dust economy were horrendous but it was the best digital card game so we just grinned and played along. Alot has changed since 2013.
While I understand grinding is part of the mechanism of the game, it's too much, the idea of grinding even 3 mercs per expansion seems daunting if it's not your "main" game mode
Currently level 61 with no tavern pass and current weekly quests still to go.
I've mostly been achievement hunting with what I have available, 40% done so far, Xmas break helps as well. I don't mind the meta so much other than going against priest or Qwarrior/Qwarlock. Thankfully, freeze shaman achievement hunting = easy wins against Pirate Garrosh.
My favorite thing to do so far has been to have Yogg in my freeze shaman and get to play his effect 3 times total with parrot.
I take umbrage with your first bullet point and subsequent follow ups.
The comparison to AAA games is very apt in my opinion and the idea that many games do not have sustained patches or events is strange. I can name many games off the top of my head that I've played that have had years of patches after being played, sometimes even if I bought the game on discount. (Fifa, Witcher series, Mass Effect Series, Halo Series, DLC's are equivalent or exceed the season events in many instances). Heck Persona even put out a new entire game with Royale. Total cost between 60-100 depending on how many things you buy
I know that many FPS games have similar content.
To suggest that it only be compared to other CCGs is the disingenuous aspect here imo.
The quality of life improvements are things that should have been implemented since the beginning of the game, let alone 5-6 years after launch....about that "stream of content and events". Do you remember how it felt to open 4 of the same legendary? I do, and that happened for 4-5 years. I encourage you to look up on youtube psychological, gambling, and addictive tricks that game companies are utilizing to encourage you to spend your $.
The game is fun and I enjoy it, but I can no longer in good conscience give them money.
Yes, yesterday I had an issue with not receiving a daily quest, I did not attempt a re-roll however.
This is an issue that they are aware of on reddit and their own forums. They are "looking into it" however it's possible the believe they fixed it with a recent hotfix.
I was champion in Beta for this game and have 95% of the cards, but honestly this is part of the reason I personally no longer play it, too many tweaks for my tastes. Still hope it flourishes as in principle it is a good game.
Respectfully, this is the last straw for me in terms of paying for HS again. The response is borderline a slap in the face and extremely passive aggressive still indicating the community is at fault and "miscalculating" things.
I (still) enjoy the game and have had an excellent time and achieved legend etc.
I will now become a 1-2 class player for as long as that is feasible and enjoy the game that way. I realize now that I was probably never as super casual as I would have liked to believe and this battlepass scenario has really opened my eyes.
I will still add in my 2 cents here every once in awhile and am firmly on the community/consumer side in this situation.
Off to dust many classes...may your ladders be rope free!!!!
Going to add one last comment just because I think this should be pointed out as well .
Think about the feel bad factor, starting at probably level 33 your at that point really into the grind of it and maybe 6-8 weeks into the pass you get a "year of the dragon card pack ----not 5 not 3 not 2 but 1 card pack that will be rotating in 2-3 months at that point.
It continues at level 42 and 48 being particular offenders.
I can only imagine how long the grind will be from 47-48 to open up 1 Year of Dragon pack 2-3 weeks before rotation.
Did they really even try to think this through? it's borderline comical.
"Boss, do you really think people want a YoD pack this close to rotation after grinding 47 levels?"
"Of course son, I'm positive they would not rather be saving gold for the new expansion and clearly would enjoy seeing cards from 2 years ago, what a silly question"
So much has already been covered by the highly intelligent members of the OOC community I will try to keep this brief!
The hypothetical example of a presumed casual player (1hr a day for 120 days) almost beggars belief! some of those achievements will be damn near impossible let alone a generous 75%
My personal example is that of many members with job, kids, etc. clear quests every 3 days or so and I can net approx 7k -8k gold per expansion.
My real issue comes that they've taken away player agency in terms of gold spending (and it will be less). I don't want a scholomance pack on level 4 or a card back on level 10 unless it's in addition to 100g.....100g should be the standard for every tier, and then thank you very much for the scholo pack on top of that. That is generous and going above and beyond the old system.
The mini-sets increase the cost of the game further therefore less gold impacts the economy even further.
I have spent somewhere in the neighborhood of 600-800 on the game since inception, but this really pushed me to no longer support until it is fixed. It really is worse off for all players.
Why do they rush? why is one stealth? why is one taunt? why does one draw 2??? Why can they do it on my turn 3 and their turn 8? Why can't we delete priest? Why is the sky blue?

Currently at level 145, not bad given I skipped an entire month just to refresh and reduce the burnout of playing sometimes.
As much as I love Kazakusan and playing it, I think it was a bit of a mistake, the deckbuilding restriction is negligible especially in wild.
I can't even imagine being 400 with a month to spare lol well done!

Great against rattle priest

Am I understanding this correctly that new seasonal events were originally only intending to reward XP?

I do not think this is a good value. I take the welcome bundle as their definition of value and based on that it should be $10.

I see we have been randomly downvoted for sharing our experience?
I don't know what to tell you other than I just didn't get a quest for some reason yesterday and had open slots. I did get one this morning.
I did not get a daily quest today either

I quite enjoy secret mage every once in awhile. It's good to see it supported again in standard.
I really want an old school style of ctrl mage to be viable (think 2x flamestrike deck) some tools here might be helpful for that.

Could be some type of booster draft format with potentially guaranteed tribal stuff?
Maybe they already said it's constructed?

Blizzard pls!
Darn it!
I literally just dusted a golden Acolyte, never play priest, so didn't realize it's power I guess. Ah well, I do have a golden dark glare at least.
Passage is still a staple, the buffs are fine, Darkglare probably RIP
