Freljord midrange wasn't buff much, but some of it biggest predator ( namely pirates and EZ/Kennen ) took some big nerf, I don't think it's going to be tier 1 or anything but it's definitely in a better spot.

Not gonna lie I was not enjoying this meta, this patch is targeting most of the problematic cards ( Veigo, Riptide sermon, Mark of the Storm, and Concurrent timelines ) and buffing some of my favorite cards ( Swain and Leviathan ) so good patch overall.

    To answer your question... nope.

I understand where you're coming from, it can be boring to see these deck come back to the meta again and again but the fact is, even when Bilgwater is strong it still a fair region with plenty of counter play.

I will take Bilgwater any time over region like Shurima or Ionia who just aim to create uninteractive boards with their counter spell and protection or all the high roll B.S. that we have getting since worldwalker.

I think it's too broken. The mana stops mattering after a certain amount of turns, and the monsters on the field is of most importance. If you don't have any outs you simply lose the game just like that. I think it should have an errata where ir states you can only have max 2 cards other than itself. Cuz they got ways to protect their nexus, they just gonna stall you out and then use it just like that when I have an op board set up and basicly no cards left in hand. My only out is deny.

Hello there, judging from this quote you must be new to the game, because anyone who has been playing the game for awhile know that Ruination isn't a good card right now and hasn't been for quite some time, it's OK tho we all made some wrong assumption at first.

I am definitely excited to see more LOR getting more exclusive champions and they are still supporting PVE which is great in my book.

The most interesting piece of information however is definitely the introduction of rotation, I wonder how are they going to handle it especially when it comes to champions.

"Out of 14 MU in the current meta 9 are in the ~50%"

Thats the current state of the meta and that means that fe Kayn/Zoe can beat +64% of all relevant decks.
Therefore it stands on more than solid ground as a ladder pick. .

Let's take the top 10 best deck on ladder at the moment :

    Miss Fortune/TF - Nasus/Kindred - Katarina/Elise/Gwen - Vi/Jax - Akshan/Kayn - Viego/Elise - Zoe/Elise - Trundle/Ornn - Ezreal/Kennen - Ornn/Jax

Kayn/Zoe has a positive match up into two of these decks ( Miss Fortune/TF and Ornn/Jax) and it has a negative match up into everything else, so color sceptical with the whole "it can beat 64% of relevant decks"

    Quote From Author
And "Kayn is still waiting for the right combination of cards as well" cant be true either.

Why not? the expansion hasn't been that out that long deck list are still being refined and something some powerful decks can be discovered late into the expansion cycle like it was the case with Swain/TF ( for those who are wondering during the Rising Tides expansion most player kept pairing Swain with Yasuo due to stunt synergy it's not until later that players figured out that he worked much better with either Ezreal or Twisted Fate. )

You can't use a single match up to determine a deck strength even if said matchup is against the current best deck on the ladder.

Kayn/Zoe for example has a positive match up into pirates aggro, last time I checked it was 54% winrate which is good but not what I would call "eating it for breakfast" but it also has lots of negative match up into other meta decks 42% into Nasus/Kindred (who is the second most played deck after pirates aggro) 43% into Veigo/Evelynn and mono Kai'Sa as such the deck struggle to even reach 50% winrate. Other Kayn deck aren't doing any better in fact they are doing worse.

So their assessment that Kayn hasn't been enjoying any great success so far is not inaccurate.

So if you want to say play ezreal right now or Catarina good ****** luck. Same thing with darkness, even if you tech quietus just to stay competitive its usually rough due to the sheer amount of value akshan scythe dude gets.

Akshan/Kayn struggle to even reach 50% win rate meanwhile Ez/Kennen and Katarina/Gwen/Elise both have 55%+ win rate even Darkness is doing well with 52% win rate

I mean does any LoR deck compare to the powerlevel of Kai'sa decks?

It would have needed absolute incompetence to design 2 decks of that sort in a row.

Still: the new cards aren't weak imo and once we stop running non- optimal builds/cards I doubt the archetypes will still look rather weak

I don't think that they are weak, and I have faced some pretty strong ones like Ornn/Trundle and Vi/Jax but if your are not playing the meta those deck feel a lot more fair than the likes Miss Fortune/TF, Mono Kai'sa or even Darkness.

Equipe cards need to be played proactively and are heavily punished by fast speed removal even the portal mechanic (a mechanic that I dreaded when it was announced) is rather slow, it's not like pre-nerf Bard who can start hitting you with high rolls early in the game.

Honestly it feel like they significantly toned down the power creep for this expansion and the only new card that seem busted to me is Heedless Resurrection.

Well yeah, if you're a net decker you shouldn't net deck till the decks are netted.

The reality is a lot of the new decks are so strong they require hard counters.

I have been using a Sejuani/Gnar deck based around the transform mechanic and I have a far better win rate against deck from current patch than the ones from the previous meta, the reality a lot of the new decks aren't as strong as your making them out to be.

From personal experience the top dogs from the previous meta ( Miss Fortune/TF, Viego/Evelynn, Darkness and mono Kai'sa) still feel better than anything that came out of this expansion.

Maybe it's just because the deck list are not refined yet?

That's debatable Viego do not level up in the deck and require you to have other unit's on the board to get his engine going.

Ornn will probably hit the board with Level 2 he can get stats from either hand or board giving him more flexibility, he buff himself on attack and summon a finisher, without hard removal or a stunt him it will be game over.

They kept his cocky attitude but they did retcon his entire back story.

That lore is outdated in his new one the lampost is actually a Icathian weapon and Jax is traveling around the world to gather  warriors strong enough to help him defeat the void.

Ok gotta admit, I didn't expect much out of equipement at first but the more cards get revealed the more excitent the mechanic looks
