Why does it feel like Druid always gets to play a different kind of game than regular Hearthstone? New Heights might not be broken, but it is pretty stupid IMO. Not all games might last as long of course, but when it does the battle is not fair anymore.
The fact that weekly quests are easy to complete now means that recent HS players interaction went down significantly in their game metrics. Clearly, they overplayed their poker hand by a country mile and lost big time.
Even though this whole debacle has left a bittersweet aftertaste, I do like the weekly quests now more than ever before. If only this was done in the first place, it would have gained them much goodwill instead of the avoidable backlash. It will take some time to heal these self-inflicted wounds.
"Trust arrives on foot and leaves in a Ferrari."
I really wonder how many players have left Hearthstone forever and this latest wonderful news will sadly never reach them.
Whoa, that is really unnecessarily harsh. Admitting to a mistake on their end and doubling down on not giving a compensation for it is just another slap in the face. You were supposed to get those XP points anyways by completing the missed quests. Now they "robbed" you from that XP and they insult you by not compensating.
Also, seems very silly to not owning up to their mistake. Increasing a few numbers in the database is not difficult at all. I mean, at least fix it for the few assertive players who care enough to write a ticket. Missed opportunity to regain some player positivity IMO.
What can you do? Depending on which game master you talk to the outcome can be very different. I know through past personal experience. Years ago, I initially did not receive two cardbacks even though I attended the HS World Championships event that year which was part of the requirement. The first two ticket responders were not helpful at all and their responses were basically stating I was trying to claim something I was not entitled to. It took me several tries (reopening the ticket and pleading my case over and over again) and finally the third game master was forthcoming and solved the problem. Thinking back about this, it still bothers me how those early conversations went down. I am not even kidding when I say that my frustration was so high that my blood was boiling. The world felt really unfair at that point. It really should not depend on which person is on the other side what the resolution will be. Okay, ranting over ^_^
As for your situation, perhaps try reaching out to RidiculousHat on the Hearthstone Reddit? Currently, he seems like the most reachable and helpful person with his heart of gold at the right place.
Sidenote: since in the long past they seemed to care about their customers/players more, how are we feeling now about the acquisition by Microsoft?
I could not agree more and I hope some compensation will still happen down the road. The ongoing latest downwards trend just does not bode well for all of us Hearthstone players.
IMHO, they have to seriously up their A-game regarding player retention.
The only possible positive take I might see here is that this quest issue perhaps has something to do with them trying to change how quests will function and hopefully for the better.
I feel for ya! Of course you and all others affected should get some sort of compensation. It should have been the bare minimum reaction of handling the situation by Blizzard.
Honest question, did you really expect more than the response you got? I did not.
Something is definitely wrong with the quests since the latest patch indeed, but in a positive way for me (EU server).
Wednesday night I had a chain of 2 quests and I already thought that was kinda weird. Last night, I completed a chain of 7 quests. By the way, I do not think those numbers are fixed, I was simply hampered by my speed of completing them one after another within the timeframe in which the quest issue occurs. Tonight, I will try to optimize my speedrun even further and see how many I can complete.
I believe this is somehow related to the other issue I am experiencing which is also odd. Every time I log in, the Hearthstone mobile app tries to download the High Quality images database again. I imagine that it also resets the parameter which remembers whether or not I already received the new quest of the current day as well. Simple mistake in the code, but I cannot complain because this time it is finally benificial to me.
EDIT: They fixed the issue, I guess it was nice for me while it lasted, oh well.
That is probably their ongoing consideration as well. For consistency sake, I expect that only one of these two implementations will survive in the end. At this moment, I expect these Standard highlander cards will get their texts reverted when they rotate to Wild. There should be some kind of counterplay against these highlander decks.
Exactly, the way they implemented it and the reason they gave for it is so obviously a blatant lie that I do not understand why anyone would defend this insane change. I can understand that less casual players do not feel the change in requirements because it fits easily in their existing weekly playtime schedule (heck, it does not even really affect my own schedule by the way), but everyone has to agree that it is a net devalue of playtime vs XP ratio. Accepting this quest update silently just means widening the door for more similar future detrimental adjustments.
Nobody is trying to convince any other HS player to leave the game, but we have to speak up and let Blizzard know this is a bad decision and implementation.
Basically, each and every Hearthstone player has their own comfortzone. Some players have bigger or smaller comfortzones than others. Blizzard is implementing these negative changes in increasingly rapid fashion which affect everyone playing this game. People who are leaving or about to leave Hearthstone have smaller comfortzones. If Blizzard continues this downwards trend, eventually more and more players will reach their outer edge and have a tough decision to make. Time is a precious resource which can only be used once. Nothing more, nothing less.
Sidenote, if I remember correctly Microsoft wanted to acquire Activision Blizzard mostly because of Call of Duty. Hearthstone was just another digital cardgame that came along with it. They were probably never really interested in this game. Since it is not making enough money for them compared to their other games, they see no value in spending resources on it. After milking Hearthstone dry, the plug will eventually be pulled I think.
I share the same feelings as you all have expressed so sincerely. Hearthstone used to be a fun game, but corporate decisions have made the overall user experience go downhill over time with no signs of getting better unfortunately.
I have been a loyal customer over the past 10 years, but I have not felt being valued as such for awhile. The latest change to the weekly quests was another slap in our faces. Although I could go on as F2P for several years to come, there is little to no enjoyment left in this game. I should drop this game immediately, but I will stay just a bit longer and finish my last few in game achievements (as personal closure) before finally slamming the door shut behind me. Blizzard will never get another dime from me.
Well, the expected response has been announced. Everything is still going according to their plans. The XP part remains capped as is apparently, so let us see how 'much' they will dial down the requirements part. I bet my left shoe it will still be quite disproportional, but how far apart they will be after the update is now the question.
Blizzard is literally saying: "We want you all to work much longer, but overall you are going to be paid less (XP) for it."
Now imagine your boss would say something to you like this, what would your response to such insanity be? 🤔
Obviously, they want players to spend more time in the game. Adding incremental tiers on top of the quests would have done the trick, really. They clearly have the technology available, just copy and paste it from the existing achievements system. Everything would be the same for the casuals and more engaged players would have something extra to work towards and thus play more. Instead they chose the bad option to lump everyone together and make things much worse for most people and also mess with the XP versus requirements ratio.
Ultimately, if the updated weekly quests are going to be still too disproportional, then make them infinitely rerollable. Let players mulligan these ridiculous quests over and over, so at the very least we can decide how to suffer through the most appealling ones in order to still get the XP.
If the increase in XP was equal to the increase in the requirements, the community outcry would be far less. This will probably be another 'debacle' like when the new Rewards Track was first introduced. It will most likely be dialed back a tiny little bit to the amount they were aiming for anyways. Anything extra beyond that amount would have been a bonus. A portion of the community will (actively) support this decision. Why? I do not know. Yes, XP is 20% more but the requirements are 200% more. These are clearly not equal proportional increases.
Blizzard is seemingly telling people like me who have been loyal for a decade and are already on the verge of quitting to finally call it a day. After playing for 10 years and having spent a considerable amount of money on Hearthstone, I have completed almost everything there is to complete in this game (53870 achievement points). This might actually be the final needed push for me personally. I was thinking of completing the last few remaining achievements left to do and probably go on a hiatus or downright uninstalling afterwards, but maybe this will happen sooner rather than later now. As a completionist myself, this is really frustrating to me. What a disappointment in the anniversary year of Hearthstone!
PSA: You can earn up to 6 packs in total during the WoW 30th anniversary.
Just watch 20 minutes of Hearthstone, Warcraft and Rumble streams on Twitch consecutively.

If somehow by this XP change the game starts to falsely classify slow or careful players as bots, I think Hearthstone is beyond salvation.
With all this ongoing cumulative effort to combat bots, I really wonder if replacing the entire XP system would not be a better solution instead.
I hope this new expansion will spark some much needed rejuvenation in the game.

This dumb deck is so effectively toxic that even bots know to insta-concede when the The Demon Seed is played.
I have never ever experienced this many odd concedes by my opponents before.
Hopefully, this abusive deck will receive its well deserved nerf very soon™.

Finally, the bot problem has been addressed properly (until the next agreement suspension) 😋
Anyone has a clue what the five new Core achievements are about? You can get a special Labyrinth cardback as the reward.
I missed the memo where the Magic Arena realm was removed (404) when accessing from the header menu.
Was this by design or is it a bug?
