We've got a new featured location in MARVEL SNAP and it's Bar Sinister!
Bar Sinister is a completely new location being added to MARVEL SNAP as part of the October Season: Symbiote Invasion. When you play a card to Bar Sinister, the Location fills with copies of it.
Bar Sinister is a great location to win with one big card, like Devil Dinosaur or Hulk, but it could also be a useful place to drop a card with an Ongoing effect that gives additional power to other cards or locations - for instance, Ka-Zar or Klaw.
If you're higher up on the Collection Ladder, you can try to juice a win with Captain Marvel or use Doctor Octopus to preempt your opponent's ability to fill Bar Sinister with copies of their own finisher.
However you choose to plan for the new location, you'd better get used to it; being a featured location means that Bar Sinister will have a 40% chance to appear for 48 hours, from 8 PM PT Tuesday night to 8 PM PT Thursday night.
Ongoing: The location to the right has +6 Power.
What Are Featured Locations in MARVEL SNAP?
There are two different types of location events in MARVEL SNAP.
- Sunday's Hot Location that will have a 60% chance to appear for the next 24 hours.
- Wednesday's Featured Location that will have a 40% chance to appear for the next 48 hours.
This helps pave way for new deckbuilding strategies as you may want to be playing something else should the bonus better benefit cards you aren't playing with. For example, we've seen this previously with the featured location, Monster Island, whose boosted appearances meant many players ran Shang-Chi to destroy the 9 Power Monster.
As announced in the developer livestream, MARVEL SNAP will be getting a brand new location every week and it will be featured when it is added, as we're seeing now with Bar Sinister.

I'm pretty sure it's actually that Featured Locations have a 40% chance of appearing in the match.
Wouldn't "appears 40% more frequently" mean that a location's normal 1.54% chance of appearing would change to merely 2.16% chance of appearing? Which clearly isn't the case.
(Math assumes 65 locations in game and ignores the fact that there's 3 slots but you get my point.)
Our phrasing originally came from on high: rightly or wrongly, IIRC that's how Second Dinner put it and we just stuck with that. I can't for the life of me find that information anymore, however >_>
You are right, though: it seems that Featured Locations straight-up appear 40% of the time, and Hot Locations appear 60% of the time.
The best combo I've seen (for pool 1 at least) is:
1) Fill the bar with Nightcrawler.
2) On turn 5, move ONE Nightcrawler out and add ONE Blue Marvel.
3) On turn 6, move the other three Nightcrawlers out and fill the bar with Onslaught.
One week into the game, I'm getting a little tired of featured locations. In theory, it's a great way to mix up the meta. In practice, most of the locations are extremely unbalanced if you can prepare for them. I don't want to spend 3 days each week running weird decks with janky combos.
Yea, featured locations are too much, too often.
I haven't seen that one yet. I do see a lot of people just flooding it with Blue Marvel though. So I teched in Enchantress to be the No Fun Bully.
Does everyone in the Marvel Universe have a bar or a club?
This one should be fun! The big boys are the obvious choice, but you could also get 4 Nightcrawlers then bail, or fill the spot with Novas before killing them all with a Killmonger.
TBH, I think most ongoing abilities are OP at this location.
I wonder if they'll ever let each player 'Choose 1 location for the game'
They did, once. Pre-closed Beta they gave players that option but it was a huge balance problem:

I don't know summoning 4 tigers is pretty fun too
