Well, this came out of nowhere! PlayStation just posted on their blog what's gonna happen at this year's Days of Play, their annual celebration filled with discounts and other activities. The big news to come out of the event is the games coming to Essential, as well as several additional titles being added to Extra and Premium.

There's a lot more stuff in the blog post that we won't cover here, so be sure to check the orginal source as well. Without further ado, let's get into it!

Essential

Normally, those would've been announced tomorrow, but Sony decided they'd be cheeky and reveal them a day early. We don't know if there'll be another blog post about it tomorrow, but it's unlikely. No descriptions, so we won't have our usual trailers in the article. There's also no date given, for some reason, so we're setting the countdown to July 1st.

The games for this month are:

  • SpongeBob Squarepants: The Cosmic Shake
  • AEW Fight Forever
  • Streets of Rage 4
  • Roblox Pack that includes an avatar for Felix Freezebeard the Yeti.

June Essential Games

This is also your last chance to get last month's free games, as they'll only be available until June 3rd. The exception is EA FC 24, which has an extended date until the 18th.

May Essential Games

Extra and Premium

Four games are coming to the Catalogue throughout the month for Extra subscribers and above. Those are NOT the June games, and those will be announced sometime in the middle of next month. The games are:

  • Dredge | PS4, PS5 (available May 29)
  • Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 | PS4 (available May 31)
  • Cricket 24 | PS4, PS5 (available June 5)
  • Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – The Definitive Edition | PS4, PS5 (available June 7)

Premium members are getting 3 classic titles from the PS2 era:

  • Tomb Raider Legend
  • Star Wars: The Clone Wars
  • Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus

The PS3 version of Sly Cooper is also available via streaming (or at least it was), but this version should run on the console directly. Premium members are getting a free trial of WWE 2K24.

Finally, the two subscriptions will be discounted until June 12th. New players will be able to get up to 30% off on 12-month memberships (we'll have to wait until tomorrow for exact discounts, but it's likely 20% off for Essential, 25% for Extra, and 30% for Premium). Existing members will get 25% off when upgrading to Extra and 30% off from Premium.

PSVR 2 Games

Lastly, PSVR 2 games are coming to the PS Plus service! Sadly, it's only for Premium (and likely Deluxe) members, so only those on the most expensive tiers will be able to play them. Five games are being added:

  • Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord
  • Walkabout Mini Golf
  • Synth Riders
  • Before Your Eyes
  • The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners – Chapters 1 & 2
