One of the things that was mentioned in the notes for the recent patch was a new dev update video in a similar vein to the one from three weeks ago. Today, Blizzard has given us that video.
Notes
Nathan and Tyler mentioned that they want the videos to give players a behind-the-scenes context as how they arrived at certain decisions, though Tyler mentions that "every video will serve a slightly different purpose".
Some such videos, like this one, will cover entirely new content.
Prepare was made a keyword when the developers realized how flexible it was, from both a gameplay and a flavor perspective.
They tried allowing cards be Prepared multiple times but it was "a little wacky" because the early game consisted of little more than endlessly Preparing your cards, and then spamming out a bunch of Prepared cards in the game.
Prepare similarly didn't originally have the extra 1 mana added. This was implemented because "mana now is worth more than mana later" and allows for more usability.
Vanessa the Ringleader is the most played card in the game in the top 20% of Ranked players, and the fourth-most played card in the top 1% of Ranked players.
Chainbreaker Hogger has caused the developers to increase the deck size limit from 60 to 99. He also activated after other Start of Game effects.
It has been over a year since they started designing the set.
The remaining Legendaries for Death Knight and Warrior were revealed, both being minions with Charge.
