Battlestate Games have shared with us their rough roadmap of what we can expect for Escape From Tarkov in 2026 during their livestream. Here's everything we know so far:

Q1 2026 - New Event

The big highlights for Q1 are transparent magazines, and an event that includes going on the Icebreaker Ship inside of Terminal.

• Bugfixes
• Quality of Life improvements based on feedback from Tarkov.Community.
• We can expect regular, smaller game updates to drip feed adjustments.
• Steam rich presence integration
  • This could show to your Steam friends what map you're on and other stats.
• Reworking the reconnect system to achieve a 10-15 second load time to get back in
• Optimizing loading times in general, they know it's a "pain in the ass" to wait for 5 minutes to load into the game.
  • They will be rewriting several subsystems to achieve these gains.
• Game performance is going to be worked on as well.
• Removing debug code fragments.
• A focus on outdoor models, especially the modernization of foliage.
• Proper visuals for optical lenses.
• Magazines with a transparent look now work as intended and you can see where your ammo is at.
• We will be able to go onto an icebreaker ship inside of Terminal as a part of a special event.
  • The event will have its own questline.
  • It will be a bit like Labrynth. 
  • There will be a single player style story.

Q2 2026 - Seasonal Characters

• The main focus is to launch the seasonal system and a larger summer content patch.
• Seasonal system is not just another profile for you to play for wipes.
• We can expect something like a battlepass, but different.
• Fresh progression, gameplay modifiers for each season.
• Special rewards from seasons can be earned and are transferred to your main character.
• Famine, Radiation, and Extreme Weather could be potential modifiers during a season.
• There will be two seasons per year.
• You can select perks and debuffs when you create your character during the season.
  • You could play without your secure container, or without insurance and you will get a perk for taking that negative.
• Seasons will be PVP only.
• Seasons will be free.
• PVE will be getting a Prestige system.

Q3 2026 - Story and Event

• Escape From Tarkov Arena will launch on Steam.
• New Arena locations revealed - see below for in-development screenshots.
• Arena will be getting a special new game mode and a new battlepass.
• Two new storylines are being added
  • Big Head
  • Lady of the Heart
• Another new event is coming, details are not available but we have screenshots.
• Magazine loading animations.
• Peaceful AI Behaviour.
• Hideout Animations.
• Eating, Butt Scratching Animations.
• Interactive Animations on different locations.
• New weapons gear customization quests.
• Update to Post Process Effects
• A new event section in the game client
• Large Halloween event with Zombies
• New stuff to help add immersion to events:
  • Being able to shoot off locks from doors.
  • Physicality in a keypad for entering a 4-digit code.
  • Car alarms going off when cars are hit.
• Radioactive zones are related to the event which will finally utilize this UI event.
• In-house global illumination changes
• Game servers are being moved over to Linux to help improve load times. 
  • Some of this might help them move Tarkov's game onto Linux.

Q4 2026 - Season 2 and Scav Life DLC

• The second season will begin.
• Scav Life DLC is planned for the end of the year.
  • Scav profile as a character with a dedicated hideout zone.
  • You will have a secure container.
  • Being able to play as a Scav boss and have control of your guards.
  • Quests to play with the Scav bosses.
  • A special social zone to meet your friends as Scavs to play cards, drink booze, and more.

New Gear

Several new pieces of gear are coming next year. No exact dates on these and this is not all the gear coming - there's even more.
