Opening standard packs after expansion launches

Hi everybody! 

I have not played HS for months but now I'm back. I'm getting some "Standard packs" as rewards and I'm waiting to open them after the expansion launches, already in the new Hearthstone year, so I don't get cards that are about to rotate out. Does that make sense, or are the cards in those packs already determined?

    • This makes complete sense, this is how I do it, too. 

  • Expansions out in 2 weeks. Might as well wait it out so your packs are more valuable.
