How have you been finding the Arena and what's the best strategy?
Thought I had a decent deck of good value stats and OP cards with a good curve but ended up going 1-3 as priest.
since classic, I've always spent 90% of my gold on arena runs, but I took a break over the last 2 expansions.
I hate this card. I hate it more than anything ever printed. It is worse than kaelthas in my opinion, but it's okay i fixed it. "But won't they just play obsidian statue instead?" …

I'm growing bored with Runeterra. I don't play ladder, Labs is incredibly random, and Expedition mode is, IMO, like Arena but worse. That leaves Casual play, which is sometimes fun, but I have more Shards than I know what to do with and could craft enough Champions to have 3x of every existing one. I've max leveled every region, and I'm just growing bored and frustrated with the mechanics and how much decks rely on a single Champion.
How is HS these days? I haven't played in probably a year, but I've still watched my favorite streamers. Battlegrounds looks really fun - is it free or do you have to pay? How's the deck variety in regular play? I do like what they've done with Ranked. Playing LoR has made me really appreciate a lot of the mechanics of HS, believe it or not.

HearthSFX
I spent most of the last couple months extracting and mapping the game sounds for each card and hero - Scholomance Academy included.
The site includes every play, attack, death, trigger, and entrance sound for each minion where applicable - including tokens and other non-collectible cards. The heroes and hero cards have all their available gameplay (thinking, out of cards, out of time, etc.), emotes, errors, and holiday voice lines. Any special interactions between cards and heroes are mapped in as well.
It's best viewed on non-mobile devices at the moment, but I plan on improving this for smaller screens in the future.
Please let me know what you think!

So, there is this survey that has been going around about a Battlepass that may replace gold gained from quests with an experience system. The short version of it is:
1) no more quests/gold per 3 wins
2) you receive experience through game modes that reward less gold and packs than you would usually grind for
3) disables you from saving 8000+ gold for an expansion launch
4) grant hero skin upgrades (which have little value compared to cards/gold/dust)
The worry is that this system is put in place to look like value is retained (like the AMA claimed) but the rewards themselves are worth less. If you gain less packs when the expansion launches and only earn some over the next months, these packs are worth less. Instead you are pushed to buy packs with real money to keep up with a meta.
Her eis a video by Hearthstone mathematics that goes into the issue:

Not So Common: Win 100 Standard Ranked games with only Common rarity cards.
- Reward: 10 classic packs.
A Deck For Everyone: Win 100 Standard or Wild Ranked games with only neutral cards.
- Reward: 10 classic packs.
(Insert Class here) Expert: Win 100 Standard or Wild Ranked games with only class cards.
- Reward: 10 (Insert Class here) Packs.
I'm curious to see what you guys think will come about.

So Quest Hunter has been my favourite competitive deck during the DoD meta because of how versatile and unique it was. Thanks to Leeroy Jenkins it basically played like a combo deck, but instead of just burning through your deck like a lobotomite until you have lethal you had to use your ressources as efficiently as possible and get in chip damage until you get into a position where your opponent can't possibly win anymore.
After Leeroy got HoF'd the deck just kind of fell apart because despite having a strong payoff it now struggled to actually close out the game (and the lack of Zilliax certainly didn't help either). During AoO the deck was essentially dead. The only support it received was Zixor, Apex Predator which just wasn't a good enough replacement. So I just kind of accepted this deck was a one-expansion gimmick and moved on..
However, due to me being bored by the current trend of Hunter being either a braindead face deck or an equally brain dead amalgamation of overstatted cards (also known as Highlander Hunter) I tried to find new ways to play the class. After trying (and failing) to build some from of Deathrattle Hunter (and wasting 3600 dust on Vectus and Teron Gorefiend in the process) I eventually ended up in a situation where I realized that Nine Lives works exceptionally well with Zixor, effectively giving your 4 additional Primes over the course of the game. I then continued testing with a Quest Hunter build where I ended up cutting all the Deathrattle stuff (which was just too slow and pointless) and instead went hard on a Zixor package aiming to just simply outressource the opponent by spamming Cyborg-lizards until they are out of removals...and it worked surprisingly well.
Priest absolutely cannot deal with it (unless you let them steal Zixor or are dumb enough to play into Mindrender), Warrior's only actual out is Rattlegore (which is actually pretty effective and you can't deal with it), Demon Hunter, Hunter, Shaman and Highlander Mage all have a chance but you can most certainly push them off the board and set up lethal. Druid is...broken...but still manageable if they don't get the perfect curve (Veranus is key, but an early Lake Thresher just fucks your shit completely). Paladin can be difficult if they snowball but I have put in the tools to somewhat deal with it. Only Rogue is a truly terrible matchup based on the fact that Stealth counters Rush.
At the end of they day it's a counter deck to specific matchups, but at the very least it's fun.
Anyways, I'm genuinely proud of this build and surprised it works as well as it does:

This time, I've put crossfire onto Demon Hunter. This one is different, becuase DH doesn't have a Classic Set yet, but this will be a fun opportunity to theorycraft a potential one for the new class. Keep in mind that this change also includes an overhaul to their Hero Power, making it costing (2), but giving +1 more Attack on each version. It's more to streamline the class, to not confuse new players and to get a new perspective on the balance.

Classic Set

Explanations
Battle Felguard - an aggressive minion to complement Demon Hunter's fast and furious, slash and hack playstyle.
Aeladori Prophet - gives the class an access to manipulate their hand to benefit the most from Outcast effects.
Warglaives of Azzinoth - changed from the unbalanced state to a more soft board control tool.
Demonic Sigil - adds an evergreen Demon buff to Demon Hunter. Aside from giving a buff, it can also let the target attack twice.
Skull of Gul'dan - changed from reducing the cost of cards drawn to reducing the cost of itself.
Dark Portal - while it is card generation, it is more akin to Warlock by giving you Demons and not other cards. It's also not really a card generator, because you replace cards in your deck instead of shuffling some into it.
Illidari Dancer - the ultimate attack buffer.
Cordana Felsong - she's a warden in WoW lore, and so she provides some defensive capabilities to the class.
Hall of Fame

Well, just one card, but that is because Glaivebound Adept is already in the basic set, so it can be HoF'd.
Some cards that were considered, but didn't make the cut

Felosophy - well, card generation, but it would've probably been a fair one.
Demon Companion - this was meant to be a Basic card due to simplicity and similarity to Animal Companion, but I forgot it was a dual class card.
Cycle of Hatred - big AoE and summons, but maybe it was a little too good.
Double Jump - was meant to give Demon Hunter an evergreen way to trigger Outcast more consistently, but tutors are dangerous in general, and Prophet probably does the job better.
Blur - wouldn't mind seeing in the set.
Ancient Void Hound - was thinking of trying to change it to be a defensive feaster, but maybe it was not worth the effort.
Vilefiend Trainer - lacked room
Priestess of Fury - also lacked room.

I'm not trying to be salty here, just really tired of running into this. I don't even know how you'd fix it. Nerf Vargoth to 6 mana? Does Blizzard even care enough about Wild mode to do something?

This time, I've put crossfire onto Hunter. While it's very hard to actually do them, please don't think I'm going to make changes for literally every class, altough if I get bored, I might do in near future. Also chose Hunter this time, because it's time to finally change Starving Buzzard to not be the overnerfed relic of the past, and time to give Hunter a bit proper control tools to make this dream come true.

Explanations
Predatory Hunter - basically deals 2 damage, but summons a Beast. Useful for summon synergies like Unseal the Vault.
Starving Buzzard - finally able to fly without being handcapped by the abysmal effect and stats.
Wandering Monster - a bit better at saving your face.
Monstrous Mark - gives Hunter a way to pierce through defenses and damage the enemy hero.
Rat Pack - adds a decent minion to buff up and summon large units.
Storm Arrows - the ultimate board clear.
Princess Huhuran - lets you trigger Deathrattle synergies.

Some cards that were considered, but didn't make the cut

Wolpertinger - this was originally meant to be added to the Basic Set, but adding freshly released cards is probably unintuitive.
The Beast Within - probably even worse than [Hearthstone Card (Bestail Wrath) Not Found], so a big no no.
Springpaw - similar to Tinger, but probably even stronger.
Venomstrike Trap - debating whether this or Wandering Monster should make the cut. I went with the latter as a more famillar replacement to HoF'd Misdirection, but I can definitely see a world in which this card is worth including.
Steamwheedle Sniper - close contender to give Hunter an early control tool, but I already created a huge control tool for the class.
Flanking Strike - very solid, but probably too solid to ever exist in the evergreen set as a powerful tempo tool.
Overwhelm - suits the theme of having a lot of Beasts impressively, but it has the same problem of being new to the game and probably being too strong to be evergreen.
Terrorscale Stalker - I wanted to include some sort of Deathrattle synergy. This one was close to include, but I'd say Princess Huhuran is safer than this and Feign Death that I also thought I'll include.

After a long time, I've put crossfire onto Mage. While it's very hard to actually do them, please don't think I'm going to make changes for literally every class, altough if I get bored, I might do in near future. Also chose Mage this time, because while their core sets are cohesive and fulfill the fantasy, over time, some of the cards have become either problematic or obsolete. I'm also adding some new class identity to the class - mainly Dragons and RNG.
Strengths and Weaknesses
New Sets
Basic Set

Classic Set

Explanations
Shooting Star - a bit more consistent to have in the arsenal over Arcane Explosion.
Frost Nova - changed to reduce the survivability for Mage, but the new one has more payoff for the commitment of freezing your opponent's board in form of card draw.
Kabal Lackey - added as part of my revisory to my Core Set, where I increase the Classic Set to 16 cards and add necessary changes. Lackey replaced Kirin Tor Mage, because while that card was better for agressive Secret decks and provided a safer discount for them, agression isn't something this class has, so it made more sense to add a slightly weaker unit that can allow for more interesting Secret play. Also, he helps Aegwynn becoming better.
Sorcerer's Apprentice - the highlight of the changes. Replacing it with an entirely new card would still cause too much problems for Wild, so I instead opted to change her into a 1-drop to relive the days of Tempo Mage again and keep it in check. She has created some of the most uninteractive stuff over the years, and while she can still reduce the cost of spells, it's no longer applied on all spells after the first one.
Snap Freeze - it's a better card than Shatter, and that card was a close candidate to be included in the Core Sets. It's for you, Ben Brode. And for some Freeze synergy users.
Scorching Wave - added as part of my revisory to my Core Set, where I increase the Classic Set to 16 cards and add necessary changes. A new control tool. It does some nice damage to a minion, but the real value is in the upgraded damage on your Hero Power. With future expansions, this card can give those Hero Power-related cards some more oomph.
Arcane Breath - added as part of my revisory to my Core Set, where I increase the Classic Set to 16 cards and add necessary changes. This addition further strengthens future Dragon-based Mage decks.
Mana Bind -another hightlight of this set. Counterspell has been toxic throughout it's existence, creting so many unfun moments. This one will serve similar purpose without pointing a middle finger.
Frosty Fausting - a nice stalling tool for any deck that aims to draw a lot of cards. Gadgetzan Auctioneer just got a cold friend to be supported alongside. Note that it won't Freeze enemies that are already frozen.
Apexis Smuggler - a better Secret synergy card, giving you a lot of card generation.
Magna Aegwynn - the pinnacle of card generation. You can reuse a lot of your spells, and with some cost reduction, you can get even more. Also has fun synergy with Snap Freeze.

Some cards that were considered, but didn't make the cut

Ice Block - don't worry, I wanted to add it changed to add a burst heal instead of giving you Immune. But even that had some problems itself, so I did not lean towards rereturning a hall of fame'd card.
Starscryer - a decent addition, but tutoring is dangerous to have in an evergreen set.
Volcanic Potion - good AoE, but it did not fit thematically.
Violet Spellwing - was meant to be the 1-drop for Tempo Mage, but it wasn't particularly interesting, and having an evergreen Deathrattle for mage can be misleading.
Rhonin - same reason.
Wee Spellstopper - probably a bit too toxic to be evegreen, even though Robes of Protection power crept her out of oblivion.
Pyromaniac - not a bad card to be evergreen, but I lacked room for this. Hero Power cards were going to be in the set, but I had no idea how to fit them in.
Daring Fire-Eater - this one was close to make the cut, but obviously I tried to keep [Hearthstone Card (Sorcerer Apprentice) Not Found] to save both modes and not only Standard.

I've tried a lot of different versions, some that are more midranged with Dragon synergies, some that are more aggressive with lots of 1-drops, but I keep finding that they just don't cut it. They're not fast enough to be consistent against control decks, and the other classes that support aggro and tempo decks are often better at it, so if you don't have a 1-drop into Power Word: Feast as your opening play, you're often dead in the water. Relying on getting at least one cheap buff in your opening hand has been a struggle.

First of all, this is not a salt thread about aggro decks. I know everybody enjoys different types of decks and I am not the one to judge. However, I do not enjoy aggro decks. I don't want games to end on turn 5, I don't want my highest cost card to be a 4 mana card. I want to play expensive cards, I want to control the board, I want to assemble my win condition and I want big swing turns. I am a control/combo player, that is what I enjoy about hearthstone.
Last expansion was the first time I generally experienced fatigue and stopped playing for a couple of weeks. The introduction of demon hunter and how blatantly overpowerd basically all of their cards were and how it was a stupid strong deck even after 10+ cards got nerfed just tilted me so much that I could not enjoy the game anymore.
Then the new expansion came and I got excited again, so many cool new legendaries with unique effects, but also a lot of veeeeryyy strong tools for aggro(a better jeeves, really?). I jumped into the first day, opened my packs, crafted some exciting cards and went right in and it was so fun. I played highlander warrior and priest, ripper warrior, control-soulshard-warlock, paladin paladin and more. Druid seems stupid again with all the ramp but that is nothing new. Besides that I had a lot of fun the first couple of days. Paladin paladin also seems very strong but not op and I saw loads of different decks and archetypes. But after a couple of days, the thing that always happens happened. Aggro came through. Suddenly a majority of players started playing aggro rogue, hunter or druid, all petty much the same lists and they are very strong. The reload they gave rogue is insane(1 mana draw 5 seems like a good idea, right?) , token druids win condition has been savage roar for years and I am sick of it and even hunter has so much card draw and value generation, that it seems impossible to outvalue/outlive them with any type of control deck.
It just seems there is no place for control decks any more, and if you want to play a combo deck you better combo your opponent to death before turn 7 or you are just dead. Which means you gotta play druid and that just feels like tossing a coin to me.
I want to know how you feel, has anyone made similar experiences? What do you do to still enjoy the game? Or is hearthstone just not the right game for me anymore?
