Deck Inspiration

I think Dark Pharaoh Tekahn is such a cool card with an awesome effect, so I always try to look for any way to utilize him in a deck. I desperately waited the entire Year of the Dragon for more Warlock-specific Lackey generation; unfortunately, I had to settle for Grand Lackey Erkh.

But then came Ashes of Outland and Zoolock's newfound potential via Imprisoned Scrap Imp, Nightshade Matron, and Hand of Gul'dan. With the immense card draw and minion buffing potential, Zoolock can finally draw Dark Pharaoh Tekahn almost every game and afford to hold minions in hand until the buffs pop.

Strategy

This deck has a fairly straightforward game plan; however, it can be tricky to execute effectively.

• Mulligan for either Imprisoned Scrap Imp or the Expired Merchant/Nightshade Matron+Hand of Gul'dan discard combo.
• If you have Imprisoned Scrap Imp:
  • Sparingly use your minions to keep up on board until Imprisoned Scrap Imp awakens.
  • Try to gather as many minions in your hand as possible (the discard combo helps a lot).
• If you have the Hand of Gul'dan discard combo:
  • Pressure the board hard until you hit an Imprisoned Scrap Imp or Dark Pharaoh Tekahn,
    • If you hit Imprisoned Scrap Imp, follow the steps above.
    • If you hit Tekahn, generate as many Lackeys as you can until you play Tekahn.

Although this deck is a Zoo deck, Imprisoned Scrap Imp alters how Warlock's Zoo strategy is implemented.

This deck was my Lackey twist on the Ashes of Outland Zoolock archetype. Lackeys+Tekahn aren't the strongest version of Zoolock, but they do combine to make one of the most fun versions of the archetype. If you are looking for a deck that utilizes Dark Pharaoh Tekahn, try this one out!
