The second part of the surprise can be seen in "Spider-Man: No Way Home" - and now there will be spoilers and speculation ...
Marvel Studios managed to get something really amazing this week. In Wednesday's episode of "Hawkeye" and in the current movie "Spider-Man: No Way Home" there are two exciting cameo roles that they have managed to keep more or less secret from fans.
The characters' comeback in MCU can be a fun detail, or possibly the beginning of something bigger. We can't talk any more without warning * spoilers * for those of you who have not yet seen this week's "Hawkeye" or new "Spider-Man" in theaters.
In the fifth episode, Kate Bishop meets Yelena (Florence Pugh), Black Widow's sister who is hired to kill Hawkeye. They become friends, sort of, and in the wear and tear of the episode, Kate finds out who hired Yelena. It's none other than her mother who operated as a secret villain behind the scenes ... in consultation with none other than Kingpin.
Yep, that Kingpin - the scary gangster boss from the Netflix series "Daredevil" - appears in a blurred photo for a few seconds just before the subtitles. A cruel cliffhanger that makes us hope to see more of Vincent D'Onofrio alias Wilson Fisk in the season finale next week.
The Netflix series "Daredevil", like "Jessica Jones" and "Luke Cage", came to an abrupt end when Disney took home its rights. But this is the first little hint that the characters can live on at Disney + in one way or another ... and also on the big screen?
When Peter Parker needs to hire a lawyer to get out of a tangled situation (you know, accused of murdering Mysterio and all), none other than Matt Murdock enters. Murdock is the blind New York lawyer who has his own secret heroic identity, Daredevil, and he is played here again by Charlie Cox.
It was only this week that Marvel boss Kevin Feige hinted that Charlie Cox would be allowed to continue as Daredevil at MCU ("who knows where and when"). Now the secret is out, and the studio is probably waiting for fans' relationships to chart a future for Daredevil, Kingpin - and perhaps the rest of Netflix's fallen heroes in Marvel's cinematic universe.
