This deck is mostly about the Mistwraiths, but not entirely. It's a more balanced approach. There is a lot more going on here than just those fearsome little guys (or maybe not so little if you look closely at their artwork).
Anyways, the origin of this deck was an Elise/Kalista Mistwraiths aggro deck that Swimstrim took to a recent tournament. However, his version just did not do well for me. The Omen Hawks were not worth it. The downsides of the Omen Hawks outweighed the upsides (at least for me). So, I got rid of them and went full SI. You just CANNOT afford to ever miss an Allegiance on a Wraithcaller, so even the small chance of missing it is not worth it (for any splash of any faction).
As for specific card choices, we really prefer to hit a 1-drop if possible, so that's why we have 6 of them. The dream opener is Barkbeast into Cursed Keeper into Blighted Caretaker, though this can definitely be interrupted in a number of ways by your opponent. Hapless Aristocrat into Elise into Kalista is probably just as good.
But of course, the star of the show is the Mistwraith. Wraithcaller is particularly amazing. If you are going second and your opening hand has a Wraithcaller, you just keep it every time. A good pairing for a turn 4 Wraithcaller is a turn 2 Mistwraith (again, if you're going second).
One of the combos in this deck is to kill off a Wraithcaller (at any point during the game), level up Kalista, and then attack with your leveled up Kalista. If a Wraithcaller is in the graveyard, it will always be pulled by a leveled up Kalista. I think. I'm fairly sure that Wraithcaller has higher priority than Escaped Abomination; if not, I'm very lucky, because I've never failed to get back a Wraithcaller if one has died.
Lastly, Risen Mists is the biggest reason that Mistwraiths are back on the menu. I cannot emphasize enough how important that burst speed is. Opponent thinks they have a good attack? Burst out a blocker Mistwraith (and buff any other Mistwraiths that are on the board). But more importantly, when your attack round starts, you can burst out one more Mistwraith, buffing any others, and then still open attack. In other words, it allows you to BOTH develop AND open attack. I'm not sure there are any other cards in the game that allow that, presently.
Summary version- swarm the board, overwhelm your opponent. That's the way you usually win. A couple of additional sources of burn damage come from Doombeast and Neverglade Collector. The Neverglade Collector particularly has the potential to checkmate your opponent (leaving them no way out) if their health is low enough and they have no way to kill it.
It's not going to win against everything, but it's reasonably competitive. Good luck!
Additional notes:
As mentioned in the comments below, you could try a different take on this deck with the following changes:
-3x Cursed Keeper
+3x Arachnoid Horror (to go with Elise) OR Fading Memories (to trigger Nightfall)
+1x Doombeast
+2x They Who Endure (to go with dying things) OR Haunted Relic (to go with Kalista)

Consider trying to squeeze in 2x Atrocity and/or 3x They Who Endure for some late-game reach. I would probably look to Hapless Aristocrat and Elise for these slots -- they're good cards in general, but they don't have high synergy with the rest of your deck.
Atrocity has no good targets in this deck, though. The highest attack unit has only 4 attack. And all of the units are vulnerable to just being killed off if you try to Atrocity on them (since nothing has more than 3 health). I'd consider putting 2x They Who Endure in place of 2x ... something. Hapless Aristocrat is not a good thing to replace, nor is Elise. Those are both way too important for the early game curve. But I've found Doombeast to be pretty lackluster, so maybe 2x TWE could replace the 2x Doombeast.
Something interesting I found out while playing a similar deck to this is that 1 drops aren't as good as I thought they were. Namely Hapless Aristocrat. Sometimes I find myself just skipping turn 1 Barkbeast because I have a Mistwraith and Risen Mists in Hand so that I can have 2 3/2s with fearsome on the open attack. So I think that you can cut 2 Hapless Aristocrats for something else.
Also, the reason why you found Doombeast to be lackluster I feel should be Neverglade Collector. They both do the same thing but Doombeast is harder to counter than Neverglade Collector, but Neverglade Collector can single-handedly end games.
The 1-drops aren't that great on their own, but they are needed because of Blighted Caretaker. You cannot afford to miss having fodder for the Caretaker. Possibly, though, I could drop the entire package of Blighted Caretaker, Cursed Keeper and Hapless Aristocrat for something else.
Maybe something like this:
-3x Hapless Aristocrat
-3x Blighted Caretaker
-3x Cursed Keeper
+3x Frenzied Skitterer
+3x Arachnoid Horror (to go with Elise) OR Fading Memories (to trigger Nightfall)
+1x Doombeast
+2x They Who Endure (to go with dying things) OR Haunted Relic (to go with Kalista)
I love that deck too and I'm running almost the same list ! I too really enjoy Risen Mists, being able to develop at burst speed is so powerful for real.
I've always wondered how Kalista's resummon effect prioritize what it resummons, it'd be nice to have a rulebook for that kind of mechanic
