Welcome to our Anarchy guide! Bumped into some Unique monsters that took quite the beating before they finally fell? They are Rogue Exiles, folks just like you, except they chose the dark side. This guide will be short and sweet, as there isn't much to them. Let's begin.

Rogue Exiles are considered Extra Content and have a baseline non-zero chance of randomly showing up in maps.

Our league mechanic guides are structured according to "Depth" - the deeper you go into the article, the more complex the mechanics get. If it all becomes too much, take a break from this guide, play with the league mechanic enough to master the fundamentals then come back and delve deeper!

Difficulty: Low
Complexity: None.

Anarchy Trivia
  • Anarchy league launched in June 2013 and has been part of the game since.
  • Rogue Exiles each belong to a Path of Exile class! For example, Orra Greengate is a Ranger.
  • Each Rogue Exile has their own unique cosmetics. For example, Orra Greengate:
    • Wears Antlers (item link) and a Bone Bow with the Verdant Weapon Effect microtransaction.
    • Her skill, Rain of Arrows, has the Emerald Rain of Arrows Effect microtransaction applied.
    • Her footprints use the Necrotic Footprints Effect microtransaction.
    • She's followed by the Green Basilisk Pet!
  • Some Rogue Exiles are tributes to community members! For example, Xandro Blooddrinker is based on a community member who won the "Well Dressed Exile Competition".

Depth 1 - Rogue Exiles

There are 34 different Rogue Exiles you may come across during your travels through Wraeclast and the Atlas. Each one comes with their own distinct set of abilities. There's several ways to encounter them:

  • In the Campaign or in maps, where they have a baseline 8% chance to randomly spawn.
  • By opening Strongboxes with the "Guarded by a Rogue Exile" prefix modifier.
  • Defending certain nodes in the Azurite Mine (Delve).
  • Some may be randomly selected as map bosses, such as in the Precinct map.

Generally, they won't give you too much trouble, but beware! When they interact with other league mechanics, such as being possessed by a Tormented Spirit or are under the effects of Delirium, they tend to scale up really well and can become quite the menace. This is also true when they're found in maps you've crafted to be extra rewarding, and extra dangerous.

Rogue Exiles don't have a lot of particular loot that exclusively drops from them, but rather a special loot amount. A Rogue Exile will always drop a large amount of items, including one for each inventory slot.

Here's a video of a map that contains a boatload of Rogue Exiles, to give you an idea of how strong they are:

Depth 2 - Exclusive Rogue Exile Loot

Rogue Exiles have a bit of loot exclusive to them, and they're all Divination Cards. First up, Anarchy's Price can drop from any Rogue Exile. The, we have a few Cards that only drop from specific Rogue Exiles:

In addition, there's also The Valkyrie, which only drops from a dozen specific Rogue Exile. Open the box below to reveal their names.

  • Minara Anemina - I suppose, out of all the Rogue Exiles, she's the biggest gambler.
  • Orra Greengate
  • Thena Moga
  • Ultima Thule
  • Vanth Agiel

Depth 3 - Anarchy Scarabs & Atlas Passive Tree

First, let's see what Scarabs can do to help you get in on that Rogue Exile action. Anarchy has three Scarabs:

  • Anarchy Scarab - You can use up to 4 of these per map!
  • Anarchy Scarab of Gigantification - Limit 2, need to research exactly what a Rogue Giant is.
  • Anarchy Scarab of Partnership - Two are better than one.

The Anarchy mechanic doesn't have a big presence on the Atlas Passive Tree, but there are a couple clusters that may be worth running if you're looking to do some casual farming and Rogue Exiles are part of the plan.

Continuing this after we get the atlas planner!

Other Considerations

While Rogue Exiles don't do much on their own, they are sometimes very useful in certain farming strategies. Here's an example:

  • Imagine you've juiced your map to have quite high Item Quantity and Item Rarity.
  • You've also got a combination of Anarchy Scarab, [ATLAS PASSIVES THAT INCREASE ROGUE EXILES IN MAPS]
  • You've also used an Anarchy Scarab of Partnership.
  • Finally, you used a Reliquary Scarab of Overlords!

You just got yourself a map with a ridiculous amount of Unique monsters, and they all drop a Unique item. There's no mechanic in Path of Exile that can't be turned profitable with a little bit of creative thinking!
